Chapter 16: A Race to the Emerald Part 2 and a Game of Cards:
With Hiccup, Toothless, and Sonic:
Hiccup and Sonic were sitting at Dragon Island were Sonic had just finished explained his story. "Wow that sounds like a rough ride." Hiccup stated. "Yeah it is." Sonic was worried yet ready for anything in both of his situations. "So what are you going to?" Hiccup asked. "Ah who knows, I'll probably just do what I do best and run like I always do." Sonic stated. "Which reminds me don't we have a race to finish?" he asked. "Oh right on to the next stop." And they both sped across the ocean.
With Twilight, Spike, and Shadow:
Spike and Shadow were sitting at the table with a deck of cards while Twilight paced around the room. Shadow pulled a card from the deck and placed a six of hearts down on the table. Spike picked up the six, put it in his hand and placed down four sixes, of all different suits. "Hmm that's the game, time for you to put down your hand Shadow." Spike said. Shadow looked at his hand and back at Spikes play. "Well that is a good play but." Shadow placed down a king, queen, jack and an ace of diamonds. "But sadly not good enough." He said. "Dang man how are you doing this?" Spike asked as he jumped back into his seat. "It's all in the skill and experience." Shadow said.
Twilight stopped pacing and sat down at the table with Spike and Shadow. "I give up." She said. Shadow started picking up the cards. "On?" He asked as he shuffled the deck. "This choice, I mean I just don't know what to do." Twilight declared as Shadow dealt the deck to Spike and Twilight. "You know what to do, you've been doing it for some time now." Shadow explained. "What do you mean?" Twilight asked. "Decide on what you want, but you've been missing a detail." Shadow mentioned as he stopped dealing at seven cards per person. "Wait there was detail missing?" Spike asked when he and the other two picked up there cards. "What detail?" Twilight asked when Shadow pulled out a seven of diamonds from the deck and placed it next to the deck. "Who's the better person?" Shadow asked as Spike put a seven of clubs on the seven of diamonds. "I've already asked that like ten times." Twilight said as she looked at her hand, she had an eight of clubs, nine of clubs, seven of hearts, ten of clubs, queen of diamonds, queen of clubs, and seven of spades. "Well then you should know by now." Shadow said. Twilight looked at the two sevens, she picked up from the seven of diamonds claiming both sevens while putting them with the other sevens placing them down putting the queen of diamonds next to the deck, placing the eight, nine, and ten of clubs down next to the pile of sevens leaving her with the queen of clubs. "Nice move." Spike commented. Shadow pulled a card from the deck, looked at it and placed it down on the queen of diamonds revealing it to be a jack of spades. "Well I don't, so I give up and chose neither." Twilight said as spike pulled a card from the deck and looked at it. "Twilight how do you feel about Flash?" Shadow asked as Spike put the card in his hand and placed a two of clubs on the jack of spades. "You've already asked me that and I've already answered, and I know what you're going to ask next and I've already answered that." Twilight said as she picked a card from the deck, looked at it and put the queen of clubs on the two of clubs then put a jack of clubs on her clubs pile, ending the round. Shadow put his hand down, he had a two to six of diamonds and placed an eight of diamonds on the queen of clubs. Spike put his hand down, he had a six of clubs, eight of spades, the two jokers, a king of diamonds, jack of hearts, and an ace of diamonds.
"Alright then, Spike get up and stand on one end of the fire pit." Shadow commanded as he stood. "Ok." Spike got up and stood on the right side of the fire pit. Shadow walked to the left side. "Twilight pretend I'm Sonic and Spike is flash, now you are going to close your eyes and walked slowly to one of us and let fate decide who you are meant to be with." Shadow explained. "Oh ok, *phew* ok Twilight, let fate decide." Twilight told herself as she closed her eyes and started walking. "Let fate decide." She said again as she started leaning to her right. "Let fate decide. She said again as she bumped into someone. She opened her eyes and was solemnly relieved when she realized who she bumped into and hugged him. Shadow looked down at her a little shocked but returned the hug. "Thank you." She said. "You're welcome." Shadow said as they let go of each other. "Great Twilight is with Sonic, now, let's go get that Emerald." Spike said. "Agreed, let's go." Shadow agreed and they all ran out the door.
Back with Hiccup and Sonic:
Sonic and Hiccup on Toothless were speed towards the next island. It looked like Hiccup and Toothless were about to win but Sonic increased speed and passed right by them at the last second, beating them to the next checkpoint. "Wo whooo and Sonic wins again by a footprint." Sonic declared as he leaps for joy. "Well you are definitely the 'fastest thing alive'." Hiccup said as he and Toothless landed. "Yup." All of a sudden Sonic felt a chill go up his spine. "Whoa what was that?" Sonic asked himself. "What's up?" Hiccup asked. "I just felt a weird chill go up my spine. That's only a good thing when either I'm about to get a chilly dog or when good events are about to happen." Sonic explained. "Well then let's hope it's a good thing." Hiccup said as he and Toothless flew up in the air and started to continue the race. Sonic looked back at Berk, looked down and sped after Hiccup.
