Harry and Draco stared in shock at the item that Severus had thrown on the table. They knew the pendant all too well. The twins both wore them. They had been made for Fabian and Gideon when they were born. One knew it was Fred's, as it had the letter F on the back. Frederick Gideon and George Fabian had never been known to go anywhere without them. Molly had been returned the necklaces as proof of her brother's death. She had been six months pregnant with the twins when they were killed. Arthur often worried, if not for the twins, she'd have not made it. She had lost her father a few years before to the war, and her mother as a child. She had worn the pendants the rest of her pregnancy, and named the twins for their Uncles, giving them the pendants. They were meant to bring protection and luck. She had prayed they'd do more for her twins.
Harry picked up the pendant and he could see some blood on it. He was trying not to freak out but he was doing a bad job of it. Besides Draco, the twins had been his first friends. He remembered when Aunt Lucretia took him to the Burrow the first time, and Ron had called him a baby. The twins had played with him, and the older boys had taken him flying. They had been friends ever since then.
Harry was upset. "He will die because of me."
Regulus stopped him. "It's not your fault."
Sirius added. "We will get him back."
Harry was in tears. "My fault."
Narcissa knelt. "If anyone, it's mine."
Draco was pale. "Mum."
She reminded her son and nephew. "It was my testimony that put Bella in prison."
Lucius reluctantly agreed. "This has nothing to do with Voldemort."
Harry was confused. "Why?"
"Revenge for themselves plain and simple." Sirius snarled.
Severus agreed. "If this wasn't personal, they'd have left by now."
Harry held the pendant. "Do they know?"
Regulus knew he was asking about Fred's parents. "Lucretia is going to tell them."
Harry stopped. "Alone? You didn't send her…."
Remus calmed his son. "She has aurors as well as Druella."
The entire Black family was being watched they reminded the boys. No one would have allowed Lucretia to go to the Burrow alone. Harry reminded them that the Weasleys were members of the Black family. It was more reason to worry about Fred being killed in all of this. Narcissa didn't think that was much of a concern. Bella had never considered Molly or her husband to be a member of the family. They were both quite removed, and they were blood traitors not on the three. Fred would have been taken as he was close to the boys, not because of his blood.
Tonks accompanied both her grandmother and Lucretia to the Burrow. Moody himself had come with them as well as a third auror. No Black was leaving the manor without serious backup at the moment. Lucius and Arcturus had both called in their private security to help as well.
Molly was surprised. "Lucretia, I was not expecting you."
Arthur nodded. "Just in time for lunch."
Lucretia was pale. "I wish I was here for that."
Molly noticed. "Why did you bring aurors?"
Arthur reminded her. "The family is at risk."
Lucretia asked. "Is George here?"
Molly nodded. "Other than the youngest two, we are just waiting on Fred."
Arthur saw the look. "What happened?"
Druella motioned. "Perhaps we can all come in."
George looked up. "What is this about?"
Lucretia explained about Bella in school. "She took a hostage."
Molly was confused. "Why are you here?"
George realized. "Fred."
Molly looked at her son. "No. It's not possible."
George was sick. "I tried to floo him yesterday."
Lucretia nodded. "Bella gave Severus his pendant."
Molly sunk down into a chair. "This can't be happening."
Arthur couldn't even fathom this. "Is he still….?"
The man could not finish his sentence. They were told the same thing that Harry and Draco had been told. The Weasleys were not considered family enough to have been targets. Fred was grabbed because he was close to both boys, not because of his Black blood. They would not kill him, as long as they thought he could be useful to them. For now the Weasleys were all being moved to Black Manor with the others. They were worried that Fred may not be the only one taken. Any friends or loved ones of the boys, or their families, would have to be watched.
George was angry. "I won't."
Moody smirked. "I will stun you if needed."
"My twin is missing. I won't hide."
Molly was crying. "I can't lose you too."
Arthur looked at George. "Your mother doesn't need you in danger as well."
Tonks assured them. "The aurors and everyone is on it."
Charlie motioned to George. "Fred is strong."
Bill added. "Mum needs us."
Percy agreed. "We stick together."
George reluctantly agreed. "I will come."
Tonks motioned. "Harry will be relieved."
Molly was led out. "He can't blame himself."
Lucretia sighed. "We all know him too well."
Lucretia was pale as she led them from the house. She should have worried about them when this happened. She had simply thought them removed enough that Bella would not worry about them. Molly's father Charles was simply brother in law to the family, through Ignatius and Lucretia's marriage. Arthur's mother and Pollux were cousins, but Cedrella was removed from the tree and the child of Phineas' youngest son, an even more irrelevant line than Pollux. She should have thought about the twins and Harry, and she was kicking herself now for it.
George was shaken when he got to the manor but he could see the shape Harry was in. He hugged. "Fred will be okay, he will."
The men of the family were working day and night to find out where the couple had gone. The longer they were free, the more people at risk. And they knew they needed to get Fred back as soon as possible. They didn't believe he would have been killed yet. Bella knew he was a good bargaining tool and would not kill him. But they didn't think he would be getting great hospitality either. And the longer he was gone, the more Harry was blaming himself for Fred. Both he and Draco were sure this was their fault. They hadn't even been writing to their friends.
Word had come that Rodolphus was demanding a meeting with Arcturus and his grandsons, as the senior males in the family now. He swore he would bring Fred with him and negotiations would be made. The men knew it was a trap but they needed to go.
Harry was pale. "No."
Regulus sighed. "I have to go."
Sirius agreed. "For Fred."
Arcturus kissed him. "I will bring them back."
Harry was pale. "I can't lose you all."
Sirius tried to joke. "So little trust in our skill?"
Regulus held his son. "We will come back."
Harry held to him. "You have to."
Arcturus looked at the others. "If we don't, you have your grandmother and others."
Wallburga shockingly added. "And your father."
Harry let go reluctantly. "Please just be safe."
Arcturus assured him. "You won't lose us all."
Harry looked at his Uncle Lucius. "Keep them safe."
Lucius agreed. "Moody and I will both do our best."
Harry watched as his dad, Uncle, great-grandfather, Uncle Lucius and Moody all left the room. He worried about all of them, not one of them he wished to lose. He loved Uncle Luc, and Moody was one of his trusted teachers, and he didn't want them hurt either. He knew they had to go but he was anxious. He had lost his mother, and though he was too young to remember, he did remember the fire. He remembered the fear when he thought he was going to lose Remus. It was the first time he had called the man father, though he had felt like it for years.
When the men were gone, the women shared a look which did not go unnoticed by their grandsons. For the first time in her life, Molly was involved. Molly, Narcissa, Andromeda, Lucretia and Druella, and even Wallburga had an understanding pass between them.
Wallburga motioned. "We must ready."
Harry was confused. "Ready?"
Draco nodded. "Where are we going?"
Andromeda turned. "You are staying here."
Harry didn't understand. "Then what?"
Molly looked at her elder sons. "Keep them safe here."
Bill seemed to know but was pale. "I don't like this."
Charlie agreed. "If Dad were here…."
Molly quieted them. "I am not about to lose your brother."
Draco looked at his mother. "Father said we were to remain."
Narcissa kissed her son. "This is a fight for All Blacks."
Wallburga added. "All who are old enough."
George pointed out. "We are."
Molly held him. "Fred would want you here to protect the others."
Remus was the only adult male who remained. "Your sons would never forgive me if I allowed…"
Narcissa looked at him. "We are leaving."
Wallburga added. "We can knock you out if it needs convincing."
Remus grunted. "He always did say the women were far more stubborn."
Harry hugged his grandmother and slid her something. "Keep this close."
This was not the old days. Arcturus had got better about understanding the women in his family were powerful as well. They had seen it when Wallburga had saved Harry all those years ago from Albus. But as always, the women had been left behind. Of course Rodolphus had not summoned them by name, but he would not have of course. But the time for them being left behind was done they had decided. With Pollux dead, Wallburga was the head of her branch, even if the old man had left them in the care of Arcturus. She was not about to let them be killed.
Arcturus led the approach towards the old castle. "I do not like this."
Sirius shivered. "Something feels wrong."
Lucius motioned. "We do not all need to come."
Regulus smirked. "Malfoys are welcome to go home."
Lucius reminded him. "My wife and son are Blacks."
Arcturus calmed them. "We all have an interest here."
Rodolphus' voice came. "Oh what a pretty family reunion."
Arcturus raised a wand. "Come out here now."
The man laughed. "And why would I do that?"
Sirius snarled. "Never knew you to be a coward."
Rodolphus appeared. "That I am not."
Lucius leveled his wand. "Where is the boy?"
Rodolphus laughed. "You didn't think I'd hand him over so easy?"
Arcturus motioned to his grandsons. "Find him."
Sirius shook his head. "I am not leaving you."
Arcturus demanded. "Find him."
He loved his grandsons and he had been at times easier on them then he had been on his son, but not now. They needed to find the boy and get him out of there now. He would ensure they returned home to their mother, even if he did not. He had lived many decades, and outlived his own son. He would do all he had to do to ensure the boys went home to Harry and to Wallburga. She would not burry her sons, just after her father.
Suddenly something fell from the walls of the fort above and landed. "What the hell?"
Rodolphus looked. "Seems my wife was impatient."
Sirius glared. "If you have harmed him….."
Lucius tried to hold him back. "Be careful."
Rodolphus went to pick up the package. "Don't worry, she won't have killed him. Yet."
Arcturus snarled. "You will both pay."
Rodolphus went to unwrap it. "Let us see how she plays."
Sirius went to hex him. "Where is he?"
Rodolphus screamed. "No. No."
They all stood and looked in confusion at the man until the package fell from his hands and landed on the stones before him. In the moment of shock, Arcturus was able to use a snare spell on the man, one even Albus could not have broken. No one understood what had caused the man's reaction or how he had faltered. Lucius knelt down to look and was shocked when he found a hand, but a female hand, and with a wand in it. The hand had a ring they all recognized, and if not the ring, the wand itself. It was the hand of Bellatrix. Unlike Rodolphus, it was her wand hand.
Lucius picked it up. "Seems the two of you are a matching pair?"
Rodolphus screamed. "Who? You traitors, who did you sneak in here with you?"
Arcturus was shocked. "I was about to ask the same thing."
An: Didn't think the Black women were to be forgotten. Wallburga had her chance to shine, seems time to let the others as well.
Don't worry, you will see how Bella lost her hand, and likely more, next chapter. Sooner you review, sooner I update.
