A/N: So this is the final update for summer love, and the next chapter is going to be the epilogue. I'm kinda sad to see this story go, but I'm excited to have the time to work on other stories. I'll probably write more in the authors notes for the epilogue, so look out for that.

Also, if you're also someone who reads 'paparazzi' you might have noticed that the story has been taken down. If you're wondering why, it's simply because I don't feel passionate about that story. I love the idea, but I can't seem to bring myself to write any updates for it. One day I may upload it again and continue writing, but if I ever return to that story I'll more than likely just re write it because I feel as if it's extremely rushed. Sorry for the long authors note, enjoy this nice fluffy chapter.

It had been a year since Elena gave birth to Adelaide, and now it was time for her birthday. Elena and Stefan had organised a small party, just something for her family and friends to attend too, and they were awake bright and early to get everything set up before Adelaide woke up. They spent the first hour of their morning hanging pink balloons and streamers all over their house, and even though it was exhausting, it was all worth it for their little girl.

She had learnt how to walk a few weeks ago, and she spoke her first words just a few days before that. She was very smart for her age and Elena just knew she was going to grow up to become very successful in life. The only words she would say were mama and daddy, and sometimes she would say the start of Caroline's name which earned a squeal out of the blonde, but they were still words.

Elena collapsed down next to Stefan, feeling thoroughly refreshed. It was still very early in the morning when they had finished setting everything up, meaning they had enough time for a quickie in the bedroom before Adelaide woke up. They say that your sex life decreases once you get married, but that wasn't true for Stefan and Elena. They still are very active in the bedroom, and neither one of them could complain. Their sex life had never once felt boring, and they had a feeling it would always stay that way forever.

"One of these days you're going to kill me." Stefan groaned with pleasure, rolling over so he could pull Elena into his side. She threw her arms around him and rested her head on his chest, breathing heavily to try and get her breath back. If you could die from too much passion, that would be the way Stefan would go.

"I think I'm the one who should be saying that." Elena replied whilst catching her breath. Their original quickie had lasted a lot longer than they planned, and now it was almost mid morning.

"I'm going to go take a shower, and you should join me." Stefan tempted, giving her that seductive look that makes her weak in the knees. If it was still early, she would have jumped at that offer, but she had already let Adelaide sleep for too long. She didn't want to break her daughters sleep schedule.

"No way Mr Salvatore, I'm going to freshen up then I'm going to check on our daughter." Elena replied, standing up and walking into the bathroom attached to their room. She was washing her face when she suddenly felt Stefan's arms wrap around her. He leaned his head against her shoulder and made eye contact with her through the mirror.

"Are you sure you can't be tempted?" Stefan asked, biting and tugging on her ear. He still had that seductive look on his face, and Elena had to close her eyes because if she didn't, he would have managed to persuade her.

"Mm, save it for tonight." Elena spoke, letting out a shaky moan that proved to him she really wanted him again. She just really wanted to just jump his bones right there, but she needed to check on Adelaide and wake her up.

"Fine, but don't expect me to keep my hands off you all day." Stefan teased, snaking his hands around her waist for emphasis. His hands moved all around her body, touching and feeling in all of the right places.

"I won't complain." Elena moaned. It took Elena all her strength to peel his hands away from her, but after a few minutes she finally did it. She freshened herself up, whilst Stefan jumped into the shower, and then went to check on her daughter. When she walked into her daughters room she saw that Adelaide was just waking up.

"Mama?" She spoke in a confused, sleepy voice.

"Hey sweetheart." Elena replied, rushing towards her side and standing next to the crib.

"Mama." She repeated, since it's one of the only words she knows. Other than 'daddy', that's the only other word she can say.

"Guess what today is." Elena spoke, making Adelaide tilt her head to the side. "It's your birthday." Elena added, but she still looked confused. It was expected of course, since she wasn't old enough to know what having a birthday means.

"Daddy?" She asked, and Elena knew this meant she was asking where Stefan was. Right on cue, Stefan walked through the door wearing some casual jog pants and a red t shirt. His hair was still wet and some of the water on his chest was clinging to his shirt, making him look extremely attractive. Elena found herself staring at his chest, and mentally slapped herself for allowing herself to get so distracted by her model husband. He doesn't look a day older than he did when she first met him.

"Happy birthday Addy." Stefan spoke, making Adelaide sequel. Adelaide loves both of her parents equally, but she had a soft spot for Stefan. She would always want to be in his arms, and would complain whenever he would put her down. Sometimes, she would even refuse to sleep unless Stefan sat with her. She was crazily attached to him, but it was adorable. Elena watched as Stefan picked her up and started tickling her, and she couldn't help but smile at her adorable family.

"You need to go make breakfast whilst I get her dressed." Elena demanded, making Stefan smile at her bossiness.

"I'm on it, master." Stefan teased as he handed Adelaide over, making Elena playfully roll her eyes. Elena washed and dressed Adelaide whilst she listened to Stefan singing in the kitchen, she couldn't help but giggle whilst listening to him and even Adelaide let out a few excited noises.

Elena held Adelaide's hand as they both walked into the kitchen. Stefan was putting the food onto the plates when he saw his 2 favourite girls walk in. Elena placed Adelaide in her high chair, who made a bunch of happy noises when she saw Stefan. He gave Elena a quick kiss as he put the plates down onto the table.

"We have to feed her today, since I don't want her messing up her pretty party dress." Elena spoke whilst pinching Adelaide's cheeks, making her smile. Usually they let Adelaide feed herself, since she's getting to the age where she needs to become more independent, but Elena didn't want her dress to get dirty before the guests had a chance to see it.

"Okay." Stefan replied as he kissed Elena on the cheek. They all sat and ate their breakfast as Adelaide babbled on in her baby noise language. Every so often she would grab either Stefan or Elena's hand and squeeze it so tight, making them both laugh at their daughters cute ways.

"Hey, can you watch her whilst I get ready?" Elena asked after she finished washing the dishes. She wanted extra time today to make herself look good, and she knew Stefan loved spending time with his daughter. Who wouldn't, Adelaide was pretty amazing.

"Of course I can, maybe I can get her into football now." Stefan joked, making Elena shake her head at him. There was no way in hell Elena would allow her daughter to become a football fan like her dad. She hated football, more than she hated walking.

"No way, I can't have 2 football lovers in the house." Elena teased whilst walking into her bedroom, laughing when she heard Stefan's shouts of protest. Elena took her time to get ready, it was her daughters first birthday party and she wanted everything to be perfect, even her dress. Half an hour later, she walked back into the living room to see Adelaide laughing whilst Stefan was no where in sight. Elena looked around the room, trying to find him, but he was no where in sight.

"Where's daddy?" Elena asked, walking over to her daughter and picking her up.

"Daddy!" Adelaide shrieked and pointed behind her, suddenly Elena felt two arms wrap around her and haul her into the air. Elena griped tighter onto Adelaide, making sure she was securely holding her.

"Stefan." Elena giggled as he playfully bit her neck. "I'm holding our daughter." Elena protested, although she still loved the fact that he had a playful side, and she hoped that would last for as long as they live.

"She loves it." Stefan replied, and it was true. Adelaide was in Elena's arms laughing her heart away, whilst trying to reach over and grab Stefan's face at the same time. Every so often Adelaide would like to pull and nip at Stefan's cheeks, and that was an adorable sight to see.

"You need to go get ready, you big dork." Elena teased, causing Stefan to pinch her side and Elena to whine in protest.

"I'll get you back later for that." Stefan warned, making Elena bite her lip from excitement. That could either mean two things, she was going to get chased around the bedroom all night or she was going to be in for a wild night of passion. Either way was fine with her, but she knew which one she was looking forward to the most.

"Go get ready." Elena repeated with a smile on her face. With reluctance, Stefan set both of them down and then slowly walked into the bedroom with a pout on his face. 10 minutes later, he came back out looking like a super model and Elena didn't think it was fair how he could only need 10 minutes to look amazing. But she wasn't complaining though, her husband was a supermodel.

Elena walked over to Stefan and was about to kiss him when the doorbell rang, the guests were here. With hesitance, she pulled away and leaned her forehead against his. She loved spending time with just Adelaide and Stefan, but she was excited to have this party.

"It's party time." Elena spoke. She walked over to the door and when she opened it she saw that the first guest was Caroline, but that wasn't a surprise. Caroline had been excited about this for weeks, since it was a chance to spoil her little niece.

"Where's the birthday girl." Caroline squealed, throwing her multiple bags onto Klaus and running through the door. The second she saw Adelaide she scooped her up into her arms and showered her face with kisses.

"Car!" Adelaide spoke, meaning Caroline. That was the most she had been able to say when it came to Caroline's name, but it was better than nothing. And Caroline took pride in the fact that she said her name first, not Damon's or Jeremy's, hers.

"Did you miss your auntie Caroline?" Caroline asked, causing Adelaide to reply with a bunch of happy sounds.

"You're ruffling her dress." Elena complained, making Caroline look at her with those Caroline eyes she always used.

"Elena, everyone's going to be focused on your cute daughter, not the dress she's wearing." Caroline informed her, making Elena huff out a breath.

"She's right." Stefan spoke, walking over to them. Elena gave him a stern joking look, telling him with her eyes that he needs to be on her side. Elena was about to protest further when the doorbell rang once again, signalling the guests had arrived. Within half an hour, nearly all of the guests had arrived. They kept the party pretty small by only inviting their family and close friends. Unfortunately, Damon couldn't make it but he sent his love via Skype.

After Adelaide stopped being nervous, she began to have the time of her life. Adelaide was a pretty shy kid, which meant she didn't like having everyone's eyes on her, but as soon as she realised everyone has brought her something that rattles to play with, she soon forgot about the fact that she was the main attention point.

Elena was leaning against the wall, resting her head on Stefan's shoulder as she watched all of her friends and family play with her daughter. In that moment, she had never felt happier. Before she met Stefan, she had no idea what her life was going to look like. But the second she laid eyes on him it's like she saw her future, and now she's living the best life possible. She turned so she could kiss the side of his neck, then she leaned up to look at him in that way that made him speechless for a second. He never thought he would have someone who would look at him with this much love, but even though he didn't feel as if he deserved it, he does.

"I love you." Elena whispered, so only Stefan could hear.

"I love you too." He replied in that same soft tone. He leaned down and captured her lips into a sweet kiss, only breaking away when he felt little hands tug at his legs. They looked down to see Adelaide looking up at them, making cute baby noises. Stefan picked her up and cradled her in his arms, tickling her when she began to reach up and pull on his hair.

"I think it's time for cake." Elena spoke. She loved this party, and she loved being surrounded by family, but she just wanted to curl up with her daughter and her husband and watch some stupid kids movie. The sooner they have cake, the sooner that becomes a reality.

They gathered around the kitchen and began to sing happy birthday to Adelaide, who buried her head in Stefan's chest once she realised all the attention was back on her again. Stefan tried to encourage her to sing along with them, but instead she just babbled away quietly to Stefan, her voice muffled by the fact she was buried in his shirt.

Once the candles on the cake were lit, Elena tried to encourage Adelaide to blow the candles out, but after 5 minutes of no response she blew them out themselves. Adelaide was the first person to eat the cake, and that meant she happily sat in her high chair for 10 minutes just smushing cake on her face.

An hour later, Elena and Stefan were saying goodbye to their last guests whilst Adelaide played with all her new toys. As soon as the last person left, both Stefan and Elena collapsed down onto the couch, and seconds later Adelaide climbed up and wedged herself in the middle.

"I can't believe she's one." Elena gasped. It had been an amazing year, even if she did spend the first few months of it waking up in the middle of the night.

"One year down, a lifetime more to go." Stefan replied, and Elena smiled at him. They decided to watch a Disney movie for the rest of the night, and soon Adelaide was sound asleep.

"I'll go put her to bed then I'll come back." Stefan whispered, kissing Elena's cheek then picking up Adelaide. He was gone for 5 minutes before coming back to the couch, he collapsed down again but this time he was closer to Elena. He innocently put his hand on her leg, the innocence was gone when he started trailing his hand up higher.

"I'm exhausted." Elena lied, loving the teasing game they would sometimes have before sex.

"Uh uh, we have to finish something we started this morning remember." Stefan spoke in his seductive voice before nibbling on the side of her neck.

"You'll have to catch me first." Elena replied, suddenly jumping up and running around the house. She was shrieking from excitement, but she was careful not to be too loud. She didn't want to wake Addy up.

She managed to somehow outrun Stefan, and she ran into the closet and knelt down on the ground, hiding from him. She heard the bedroom door open and she had to put her hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing. Stefan walked around the bedroom first, then walked into the bathroom attached to their bedroom, before finally stopping in front of the closet now. Elena was giggling into her hand now, and the giggles turned into loud laughs when the closet door burst open and he scooped her up into this arms.

"You caveman." Elena squealed as he threw her down onto the bed. He climbed on top of her, in a position that meant he was hovering over her.

"I'll show you a caveman." Stefan growled.

Needless to say, he certainly did.
