Hey guys! I'm back with a much quicker update, hope you guys are happy! Well, we're at the end of season three now, we've come such a long way! I'm excited!
So, I had a bit of a problem, I was never a fan of season 4 of the series, or season 5 really so I made a few changes and hopefully you'll enjoy those changes. This story will probably start to go a bit AU after this chapter but I hope you guys like Alex and my writing enough to stick with the story because I've got some fun ideas up my sleeve and it's about to get even more crazy!
Anyway, enough of my rambling, but please, please let me know what you think of this chapter with a review because I really need to know if you like where I'm going with this or not. Because if you don't like it and don't tell me, you'll stop reading and never know what happened in the end and where Alex ends up etc. So I'd appreciate it greatly if you left a review, even just saying 'good' whatever length, I'll love it!
Sooo...On to Chapter 37
Disclaimer - I only own Alex and my ideas
*Edit* I have rewritten parts of this chapter as I realised while I was writing Chapter 38 that the storylines didn't work right. What I want to do in the future doesn't match up with what I've written so far so I've had to make a few changes. Please don't be too upset if it was something you liked and I've taken it out. It doesn't mean it won't happen it just means that it doesn't work at this point in the story!
The Departed.
As soon as I found Elena lying on the floor of Alaric's bedroom I had called an ambulance and woken Jeremy to let him know. I wasn't going to keep him in the dark about this. He'd already been through so much, it was the least I could do.
I drove us to the hospital., right behind the ambulance and we stood in wait for news of our sister to make sure she was alright. We waited for about an hour for her to wake up. It was Meredith that had come to our sister's recuse.
"She's going to be fine," Meredith said, standing next to Jeremy and me outside of the window looking into Elena's room. "She got a little banged up today, hit her head, but it was just a slight concussion. Nothing to worry about," She added.
"But she collapsed. There was blood," I replied, not believing that Elena only had a 'slight concussion'.
"Honestly, guys, she's okay. She's just…She's been through a lot. Is there anyone you want to call?" Meredith asked us. I looked to Jeremy and nodded.
"We should let Damon and Stefan know," I told my brother. He nodded and rung Damon's phone. I felt a dizzying sensation fall over me so I motioned for Jeremy to talk to him. I zoned out of the conversation, trying to quell the sickening feeling in my stomach.
"You did what?!" Damon's shout brought me back into the phone conversation that was happening.
"Alex and I took her to the hospital. When you find your sister unconscious, you call 911," Jeremy defended.
"Not when you have a parade of vampires at your disposal and death's right hand man!" Damon rebuffed.
"Every remaining Original is going to want Elena dead to stop Alaric. She's a sitting duck in there," Stefan added.
"That's a lie," I said but felt the sickness start to make its way up my throat. I covered my mouth with my hand and Jeremy narrowed his eyes at me but I brushed him off with a wave of my hand.
"Well, Meredith wants to keep her for observation," Jeremy sighed.
"Jeremy, get Elena home, we're on our way," Damon replied.
"You know one of us has to keep moving right?" Stefan asked. I squinted my eyes in confusion. Why were they on the move? "If Klaus really is the sire of our bloodline, we need to keep his body hidden before Alaric finds him, kills him, and we all end up dead."
"Our life is one, big proverbial coin toss," Damon sighed.
"What did you do with Klaus, Stefan?" I asked, vomit rising up.
"Alex? Are you there?" Stefan asked, hurriedly.
"Of course I'm here. Elena collapsed!" I replied.
"Do us a favour," Damon said through the phone. "Pretend you never heard that," He added, hanging up the phone.
"Jeremy, do you know what that was about?" I asked. The sheepish look on his face said everything he was refusing to say. I glared and opened my mouth to speak but instead of words, vomit came out. I covered my mouth and rant to the bathroom while Jeremy called for Meredith.
I bent over the toilet bowl in the bathroom and wretched up everything I had in me. My throat was burning and I felt like I couldn't breathe. There was also a strange sensation in my stomach. My senses were going crazy, picking up the feeling of another soul close by.
I heard a knocking on the door and Meredith entered. Passing off the feeling of the soul belonging to Meredith, I felt hands scrape my hair out of my face and gently rub my back.
"You're okay, Alex. Just let it all out and I'll do a check when you're better. Don't worry," She cooed in my ear. I sighed and placed my head on my arm that was atop the toilet bowl. It took me a few minutes to regain my senses and for the dizziness to go away but I was finally able to stand with the help of the doctor.
She led me to an empty room but told Jeremy to wait outside, saying everything was fine.
"What are your symptoms Alex? Just in case this is something more serious than a common bug," Meredith asked.
"I don't know, I felt really dizzy and then I just threw up. There was a weird feeling in my stomach and I just felt weird I guess. It's probably nothing," I shrugged, moving to stand up off the bed I was sitting on.
"It may be," Meredith said, gently placing her hand on my shoulder and pushing me down. "But it's my job to make sure that there is nothing wrong with you," She continued. "Now I'm going to do a few different tests so I'm going to need some blood and a urine sample. Just to cover all the bases," She smiled at me. I nodded and let her take what she needed.
I was left alone in the room after Jeremy had come in and I told him to phone Caroline to get Elena home if that's what Damon and Stefan were wanting. After all, she only had a concussion, it wasn't anything serious. My brother had nodded, given me a hug and left telling me that I would be fine.
I was left sitting in the room for about an hour before Meredith came back with my results.
"That was pretty fast," I said, remembering that sometimes these tests could take many hours.
"I sweet talked the guys at the lab," Meredith winked at me. "Let's see here," She said, flipping through the results. She frowned and her brow creased in confusion.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Alex, when is the last time you had sexual intercourse?" She asked looking up at me.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"Just answer the question," Meredith replied.
"Only a couple of days ago," I shrugged.
"There wasn't a time before that?" She asked.
"Well I was a virgin until then so…" I trailed off. "Why?"
"Alex, you're pregnant," Meredith replied. My whole world stopped. I couldn't even think I was that shocked.
"What?" I whispered, not understanding how this could have happened.
"You're pregnant. That's why you were ill this morning. But according to the test, it says you're 3 weeks pregnant. I don't understand," Meredith explained.
"You're telling me," I whispered.
"Alex, who were your sexual partners?" Meredith asked, closing the file and coming to stand next to me.
"Kol. I slept with Kol. But he's a vampire, he couldn't do this," I replied.
"You're right, he couldn't," Meredith sighed. "And he's the only one? You haven't slept with anyone else?"
"No one," I shook my head.
"Then there is something seriously wrong going on here."
I stumbled back to my house, the information I had just been told weighing heavily on my mind. How could I be pregnant? How could this happen? I couldn't be a parent. I wasn't ready. How could the baby be 3 weeks old when I only slept with Kol a few nights ago.
I opened the front door and saw Elena sitting on the sofa. She noticed me and jumped up.
"Alex!" She smiled, running towards me. I accepted her hug and sighed into her shoulder.
"I'm so happy you're okay, sis," I told her. "I was so worried."
"Well, thanks to you finding me, I'm fine," She smiled back at me. I pulled back and looked to my right, seeing Stefan and Matt standing in the kitchen. I sat down on the couch as Elena started to tell me about how everyone was coddling her too much. I kept one ear tuned on Stefan and Matt's conversation when I heard Elena's name mentioned.
"So you're just gonna let Elena call all the shots?" Matt asked.
"We're letting her make her own decisions," Stefan replied.
"We're letting her make her own decisions," Stefan replied.
"Even if they're wrong?" Matt asked, flicking his eyes over to his ex-girlfriend.
"Nothing wrong with free will, Matt. Trust me, you don't realise that till you lose it," Stefan explained.
"Alex, are you listening?" Elena asked.
"Yeah, you were saying how everyone is coddling you," I said, giving Elena my full attention.
"No, I was saying that Elijah's here," Elena replied, pointing to the door. I stood up and turned to the door, seeing that the eldest remaining Original was indeed standing on our porch, the door wide open.
"Elijah, what are you doing here?" I asked the vampire.
"Hello again, everyone," Elijah smiled looked at Stefan and Matt who had joined Elena and I in the hallway. "We need to have a chat,"
Jeremy was sitting on a bar stool at the grill, waiting for the cooks to finish making food for Elena since she was the one who knew how to cook in the family. Finally, the bartender came out from the kitchen with a brown bag in his hand, handing it to the youngest Gilbert.
"Thanks man, tell the kitchen I appreciate them staying open for me," Jeremy said, taking the bag and moving to stand up. He was stopped by someone placing two beers down in front of them. Following the arm that held the beers, Jeremy came face to face with his former teacher and guardian.
"We need to talk," Alaric said. "I need you to tell me where they're keeping Klaus' body," Alaric demanded.
"I don't know and even if I did, why would I tell you?" Jeremy replied rudely.
"Elena's association with vampires nearly got her killed again tonight, Jeremy. Does that even register with you?" Alaric asked, his voice taking on a more desperate tone. He needed the youngest Gilbert on his side.
"Of course it does," Jeremy replied with a sigh.
"Well, she can't seem to cut them out of her life, but I can. And with your help, I'll get rid of all of them. Find out where Klaus' body is being hidden, I'll kill him, all his siblings, and when I die, vampires will no longer exist," Alaric explained simply.
"But the only way for you to die is if Elena dies," Jeremy told the hunter.
"Then lock me up. Have Bonnie put a spell on me like she did Klaus," Alaric offered. "Let Elena live a long, healthy human life and when her life is over, mine will be too," Alaric pulled the White Oak stake from his jacket pocket. "This stake is the one weapon on Earth that can kill them. I'm gonna get Klaus either way, Jeremy. Be on the right side of this," Alaric persuaded before letting Jeremy leave the grill.
Elijah was standing in the kitchen with the rest of us, explaining how we could deal with the situation we were in.
"I'm missing a brother, care to explain where Klaus is?" Elijah asked, breaking the silence that had surrounded us.
"We took him away, he needs to be hidden," Stefan replied. "If Alaric gets his hands on him, all of us could be wiped out."
"Why would you take him?" I asked the youngest Salvadore.
"This way, we know where he is and Alaric doesn't. There is no chance Alaric would be able to kill Klaus if he doesn't know where he is. What if he catches up to one of the Originals and they have Klaus with them? We could all be dead if Alaric got the upper hand," Stefan replied.
"All we need is to take the stake away from him," Elijah explained. "Once it's been disarmed, the weapon is in my possession, my family will scatter to the ends of the earth and Alaric will follow."
"And you'll just run?" Stefan asked moving to sit in the seat next to where Elena was perched.
"We've done it before," Elijah shrugged. "Klaus and Rebekah spent the better part of a thousand years evading my father. What's another half century while Elena is able to live out the rest of her natural life?"
"We've finally stopped him, Elijah," Elena sighed. "After everything he's done to us, I can't just let you bring him back."
"I don't trust him around Elena either," I added, thinking about all the times he's tried to harm my sister.
"I give you my word, Elena. I will not revive Klaus within yours or even your children's lifetimes," Elijah promised. "Perhaps that will teach him some manners," He mused to himself.
"Why should she trust you?" Matt asked. "All you've done is screw her over."
"And for that, I am deeply ashamed. But know this, she could have been dead the instant I walked through that door tonight, so Elena, I leave it to you to make the decision whether to trust me or not," Elijah offered.
"Not! Hello, did that concussion give you brain damage?! His lunatic siblings will kill you the first chance they get!" Damon piped up from loudspeaker on Stefan's phone that was lying on the kitchen tabletop.
"Rebekah and Kol will honour the terms. If you return Klaus to us, Elena will come to no harm," Elijah bartered. Elena and Stefan shared a look before Elena looked at me. "Do we have a deal?" Elijah asked.
"No! No, no, no, no! Did I mention no?" Damon yelled from the other end of the phone.
"Elena, it's up to you," Stefan offered.
"Oh come on!" Damon drawled.
"Damon, shut up!" I groaned, getting annoyed from his constant interruptions.
"Why do you want Klaus' body?" Elena asked.
"He's my brother. We remain together," Elijah replied. Elena sighed at his reasonable reply.
"We have a deal," Elena nodded.
Matt and Jeremy were sitting on the porch outside the Gilbert porch, discussing the choice Elena just made.
"So what are you gonna do?" Matt asked his younger friend as they stared down the drive.
"What I wanna do is run in that house, grab Elena, and get her out of here and away from all this," Jeremy sighed. "Take Alex too and just start somewhere new with the two of them,"
"So why don't we?" Matt asked, a light bulb going off in his head.
"Good luck getting her past all the vampires in there. Even if I wanted to help Alaric, I have no idea where Klaus' body is. Plus there is no way Alex would be okay with leaving the Originals," Jeremy replied.
"I know where Klaus' body is," Matt smirked.
Alaric was sitting at the bar of the Mystic Grill, sipping on his beer. He looked down when his phone rang and saw Jeremy's name flash on the screen.
"Yes?" Alaric answered
"I know where Klaus' body is," Jeremy said to his teacher. Alaric smiled and nodded slightly.
"Good. Tell me," He demanded.
"Damon's on his way to bury him in the woods off Route 12. I'll text you with the specifics," Jeremy replied.
"Thank you, Jeremy. You're doing the right thing for your sister," Alaric assured.
"I know," Jeremy nodded, hanging up the phone and looking back at the rest of us still sitting around the table. "He bought it," Jeremy told us.
I had decided to go and meet up with Damon and Bonnie at the storage locker where they were keeping Klaus, mainly to make sure Damon kept to Elena's word and gave Klaus back to his family. I ended up waiting for a while outside the Storage Locker for Damon to arrive. Finally I saw headlights and his car pulled up to a stop.
"Why are you here, Alex?" Damon asked as he got out of the car.
"To make sure you keep to Elena's word," I replied, pushing off the wall where I had been resting. "Not that we don't trust you or anything. But we don't trust you," I added.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," He replied sarcastically as he walked by me.
"Bonnie," I nodded to the witch as she walked towards me. She nodded in reply and we followed Damon inside, feeling the awkward tension between the two of us. We had never really been close and with everything that had happened in the past year or so just drew us further apart.
"You know, I'm not halfway out of Virginia and Elena sells our souls to the Originals," Damon sighed as he navigated his way through the halls of lockers.
"Believe me, if your soul was sold, I'd be enjoying a meal about now," I replied stonily.
"It was her call," Bonnie added, looking at the vampire pointedly.
"You know what else was her call? Everything bad ever," Damon replied.
"Where is the body?" Bonnie asked changing the subject. "As long as it's unspelled, Alaric is one witch away from finding it."
"Klaus is hidden," I replied, emphasizing his name.
"I was going to use Unit 666 but I thought that would be a little bit obvious," Damon said.
"Yeah, 666 is my number," I smirked at the vampire. He rolled his eyes but I saw the ghost of a smile on his lips.
"Anyway," Damon continued. "Here we are, 1020. Mini fridge, a couple of birdcages, a box of old Playboys and one beefjerkified Original," Damon said, opening the unit. I walked inside and opened the casket Klaus was held inside and Klaus' eyes shot open from the light.
"Oooh creepy," Damon mocked, looking at the Original.
"I need a minute," I told the two of them.
"I need to cast my spell," Bonnie objected.
"Yeah, just let Bonnie jam the witch locator, bat signal or whatever and get on with it," Damon sighed.
"Give me a minute," I roared, my eyes flashing white. I was not in a good mood and these two with their sarcastic quips and disapproving glances were starting to piss me off. Damon raised his hands in surrender and dragged Bonnie away from the unit.
"You know, Klaus. I really used to think you were a good guy. That you had the ability to be the better person. But then you went and kidnapped my sister and tried to bleed her dry, while I was in the other room. You were going to pretend that Elena was fine and that I'd see her again so we could leave Mystic Falls. Plus if it wasn't for you and your mother, Alaric wouldn't be trying to kill everyone and I'd still have my father. How can you do all of that then claim to have feelings for me. To try and charm me. I will never have feelings for you, Klaus."
"But no matter how I feel towards you though, I will not let any harm come to you. It would break Rebekah and Elijah, plus it probably wouldn't be the best new for Kol either and I am not about to let them go through the hurt of losing someone they love. Not like I had to," I explained to the Original. "Have a good couple of decades in here, Klaus. We're not going to be waking you up for a while," I added, closing the lid of the coffin.
I was sitting next Damon on a couch in a random storage unit. Bonnie had just placed a spell on Klaus and left while Damon had called Stefan.
"Bonnie just left," Damon said to Stefan over the phone. "Rebekah should be here soon to pick up the body."
"Why isn't Alex just teleporting the body to them?" Stefan asked.
"Because, Sherlock, I haven't fed in a long time, dealing with this fucked up situation. Therefore my teleportation needs longer to recharge after I used it to come here," I explained. "By the time it recharges, Rebekah would be at least halfway home with Klaus."
"Fine. I've got Caroline and Elijah in place. Jeremy is going to lead Alaric to us," Stefan relayed.
"You just had to let her make the choice, didn't you?" Damon growled down the phone with a roll of his eyes.
"What would you have done, Damon?" Stefan asked.
"Grabbed her, gagged her, thrown her in a well, I don't know, anything other than letting her trust Elijah," Damon replied
"I vouch for Elijah, he's a good guy who's had to make tough decisions," I interrupted their conversation.
"Shhh, you, shhh," Damon said pointing at me. I rolled my eyes and flipped him off.
"You know Elena would just hate you for it, right?" Stefan offered.
"Yeah, but she'd be alive and she'd hate me. Thus the eternal difference between you and me, brother," Damon explained.
"As soon as we get the stake, hand Rebekah the coffin and get out. Alaric's got half the police force looking for Klaus' car," Stefan said, going over the plan.
"Got it," Damon replied. The elevator bell rung and Damon and I looked up. "Gotta go, Original sister's here," Damon said, hanging up the phone.
"It's about time, sexy Beks," Damon smirked, standing up.
"You're so crude," I scoffed.
"You love it," He replied, turning his smirk on me. I rolled my eyes with a smile and the idiot. I didn't have time to react as Alaric came up behind Damon and pulled him into a chokehold, his other hand holding the stake out in my direction.
"Where is Klaus?" Alaric demanded. I moved forward but he slashed the stake out at me. "Ah, ah, ah. I wouldn't if I were you. You might not be able to die but I know of something that might be able to," Alaric smirked with a knowing glance at my stomach.
"How did you..?" I asked, trailing off.
"Meredith," Alaric said simply.
"How did you find us?" Damon sputtered from his place in Alaric's grip.
"Oh you'd be amazed at how competent law enforcement is when it's not corrupted by vampires. Now, where is Klaus?" Alaric asked again.
"In a storage locker," Damon answered, his voice starting to fade as he slowly lost consciousness. "There's only about a thousand of them…have at it," He added before passing out. Alaric dropped the vampire and stood up, walking to the start of the lockers, waving the stake in my face as he went.
"Damon," I said as I rushed to his side and shook him slightly. "Wake up, I need you," I said, slapping his face. When he didn't respond I gathered a small amount of my energy and zapped his head. He jolted awake and screwed up his eyes in pain.
"What the hell was that?" He groaned, holding his forehead in his hand.
"Just a little electroshock therapy, now get up," I replied, dragging him into a standing position. "We have to get Klaus out of here." Damon nodded and we moved to unit 1020, silently opening the door and rolling the coffin out.
We had managed to silently roll the casket down a couple of hallways when the elevator dinged open again and I heard Rebekah's voice float through the air.
"Damon? Alex? Where are you guys?" She called out. I cringed knowing that Alaric would have heard that and would be on the prowl. I motioned to Damon to stay there and protect Klaus while I went to find Rebekah, picking out her energy in the storage locker.
"Guys, this isn't funny," Rebekah called, starting to feel nervous from the lack of response. She walked down the halls of the locker, looking for the two of them. Rebekah walked past the hiding spot I was in but didn't see me so I reached put and grabbed her, placing my hand on her mouth to stop her screaming. She jumped and let out a muffled scream. I turned her round to face me and she sighed.
"Rebekah, shh. He's here," I whispered quietly. She nodded and I motioned for her to follow me to where I had left Damon. It didn't take us long to find the raven haired vampire and we quickly started to roll Klaus' coffin to the car we had driven in. I heard the sound of a unit door closing and a low growl. Knowing that it belonged to Ric I urged the two vampires to pick up the pace.
Opening the boot of the car I watched Damon and Rebekah come towards me when out of nowhere, Ric appeared, grabbing Rebekah and smashing her head against the car. He brandished the stake towards her but noticed Klaus's coffin. He threw Rebekah to the ground and faced the coffin. Damon rushed the hunter but Alaric easily kicked him to the floor.
He ripped open the lid of the coffin and Klaus' eyes widened. However, as he was raising the stake I let out a stream of my energy, throwing Alaric backwards. I rushed to Rebekah and helped her get up.
"You have to leave," I told her. "He's after you too," I told her.
"I have to protect Klaus," Rebekah replied, shaking her head. I groaned and flicked my eyes over to where Alaric was now standing up, brushing the dirt off his coat.
"That hurt, Alex. I'll give you that," He smirked at me. He ran towards me, tackling me to the ground but I managed to bring my feet up, propelling him backwards and headfirst into the car. He grunted in pain but was back up in seconds.
"Rebekah please leave," I begged, daring a glance to the female Original. Alaric took that split second to go after me again, this time with his fist. He caught me right in the face, sending me sprawling backwards. He smiled and started to make his way towards Klaus again.
"NO! Rebekah screamed and Alaric raised the stake again.
"Rebekah, get out of here," I yelled at her, she looked at me, tears in her eyes, then used her vampire speed to leave the storage locker. I closed my eyes and teleported, just as Alaric brought his arm towards Klaus.
I felt a blossom of pain on the right side of my chest as I opened my eyes. I looked down and saw the white oak stake planted firmly in my chest. Following the hand that was still gripped onto the stake I looked up to see the annoyed face of Alaric.
"You know, if you die here, there's a chance it will too," Alaric spat.
"You hit the right side, Ric. I can easily heal from this," I replied, grabbing his wrist with my left hand and yanking it off of the stake, using my right hand to rip the stake out of my chest and throw it as far as I could.
"You shouldn't have done that," Alaric growled. He pulled his wrist out of my grasp and reared it backwards, punching me square in the face again. My head snapped to the side and I felt the bone breaking.
I narrowed my eyes and punched him back, putting all my force into him. He flew backwards into the wall behind us, knocking him out cold. I sighed, knowing we had a little more time.
Damon groaned behind me and started to get up. I made to move towards him but I started shaking on my feet. I looked down to the hole in my chest and saw it wasn't healing.
"Damon," I called out as I started to fall to the ground. I never hit it though, Damon caught me just in time.
"What's wrong?" Damon asked, holding me in his arms.
"I'm not healing. Damon, I'm not healing," I said, starting to panic. A superficial wound like this should heal instantly.
"Maybe it's the stake. It's meant to take down an Original," Damon suggested.
"Damon, I feel cold," I said, looking up at him. The blood was pouring out of my wound, coating both mine and Damon's clothes in it.
"Don't say that, Alex. You're gonna be fine. We've lost you too many times, we're not doing it again," Damon said, stroking the hair out of my face.
"Do you love Elena?" I asked suddenly.
"What?" Damon asked, confused.
"Do you love my sister?" I asked again.
"I thought I did," Damon sighed. "But then you got with Kol and I realised how lucky I was to have you in my life. I realised how jealous I was of Kol and how much I had been missing out on," Damon replied.
"Why were you jealous of Kol?" I asked.
"Because he had you," Damon said. "He had you and I didn't."
"You had a long time before Kol came. Why didn't you say anything?" I asked.
"I didn't understand what I was feeling then. But everytime you died, I felt a little stronger for you," Damon admitted. He sighed and opened his mouth to say something but his phone rang, cutting him off.
"Brother, we've got a bit of a situation here," Damon said as he answered the phone to Stefan.
"Alaric never showed up here," Stefan replied.
"I know, he showed up here."
"What? What happened? Where's Klaus?" Stefan asked.
"Klaus is fine, desiccated as he should be. Alaric's knocked out. Alex managed to take him out but not before being stake by that bloody white oak piece of shit," Damon recounted.
"Is she alright?" Stefan asked, worry laced through his tone.
"She's cold, Stefan. She's lost a lot of blood and she's not healing," Damon explained.
"Put her on," Stefan demanded. Damon sighed and pressed the button for speakerphone.
"Hey, Stef," I groaned out, trying to ignore the pain in my chest.
"Are you okay?" Stefan asked.
"Peachy, what do you think?" I grunted, rolling my eyes.
"You're gonna be fine, Alex. Trust me, you'll be fine," Stefan promised.
"That's what Damon's telling me," I replied.
"What else is Damon telling you?" Stefan asked, lowly.
"Doesn't matter," I replied, feeling sleepy.
"Did you think any more about our conversation the other night?" Stefan questioned. Damn looked down at me in confusion but I ignored him.
"Is now really the time, Stefan?" I asked.
"Now may be the only time," Stefan countered.
"What happened to you'll be fine?" I joked.
"Please, Alex. I need to know," Stefan nearly begged.
"I thought about it, Stefan. I really did. But I'm sorry. I don't want to be the runner up in the who wins Elena competition. I deserve better than that. I deserve someone who appreciates me," I told him.
"I do appreciate you," Stefan argued.
"Stefan, if you really appreciate me, you'll accept my decision and just be my best friend," I sighed.
"If that's what you want," Stefan replied, his voice sounding downcast.
"It is," I replied.
"Look, Stefan, I've got to get Alex to the hospital or something," Damon said, cutting in our conversation. "We'll talk later," He said, hanging up the phone.
"So Stefan said he wanted to be with you?" Damon asked me, helping me stand up.
"Something like that," I replied.
"And your answer was no?" He continued.
"Something like that," I repeated.
"What would your response be if I asked the same thing?" I stopped and looked up at Damon.
"Seriously?" I asked.
"What?"
"Do you know how long I had a crush on you for? And you never noticed me, even for one second," I replied, annoyed that the second I was happy with someone else, the two people I wanted to notice me more than anything in the world finally did.
"A while?" Damon joked.
"Far too long. All I wanted was for you to notice me. To see the attraction I had to you. If you hadn't been so wrapped up in Elena, you'd probably be with me right now," I said. "Sorry, Damon but both you and Stefan are too late," I sighed.
"And you're too late to save your family," Alaric whispered in my ear, grabbing me in chokehold and throwing me to the ground where I smashed my head. Damon growled and ran towards Alaric who punched him in the face.
Damon's beating was brutal but he was keeping Alaric preoccupied and away from Klaus.
"You're not gonna fight back?" Alaric asked as Alaric threw him to the ground next to me. His face was bloody and bruised.
"You're kinda invincible, Ric," Damon coughed out.
"Don't call me that," Ric growled, kicking Damon in the face. "We're not friends."
"We were," Damon replied. "You used to be a father to Alex too," Damon added, coughing up more blood.
"Well our friendship and the relationship between Alex and me was part of the problem. It's what kept me weak," Alaric spat. "It's also why it took so long for the real me to break through and now, I'm gonna break you," Alaric smiled.
Stefan looked around the group who had come together to try and stop Alaric.
"Alaric was at the storage units. He staked Alex with the white oak stake and she's not healing," Stefan explained.
"What?" Jeremy and Elijah yelled.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Jeremy asked, looking desperately at Elijah for an answer.
"I don't know. She should be healing. I hope it's just taking longer, for the sake of Kol, I hope it's just taking longer," Elijah replied. "I must see my brother," He added, running off towards his house. Stefan's phone rang just as Elijah left. He saw it was Rebekah calling.
"Hello?" Stefan answered.
"You're alive? Congratulations," Rebekah said.
"What? I don't understand," Stefan asked.
"Klaus is dead and now we have to run. Alaric will keep coming after us until we are all dead, but I don't want to run anymore, Stefan. I spent my whole life running," Rebekah replied.
"Klaus is dead? But I was just on the phone to Damon. He said Klaus was fine," Stefan said.
"I saw Alaric standing over Klaus' body with the stake raised in the air. Klaus is dead and I need the rest of my family to survive. I hear that Matt has just left town with the precious Elena, am I right?" Rebekah went on.
"Rebekah just wait. Please, before you do anything, just wait," Stefan pleaded.
"I need to get rid of Alaric, and there is only one way to get rid of him," Rebekah threatened, hanging up the phone before Stefan could say anything else.
I could finally feel the wound on my chest healing and I stood up just as Alaric smashed his fist into Damon's face.
"Is that all you got?" He mocked the other vampire, raising his fist to strike again but I caught it before he could swing.
"Not quite," I replied with a smirk as he looked over his shoulder at me. I threw him across the room and he skidded to a stop, glaring at me as he got up. He charged at me but I sidestepped, dodging his attack and swinging my fist into the back of his head, causing him to fall to the ground. I went to pin him down but he used his vampire speed to get up and in front of me.
He grabbed my head in his hands and head-butted me violently, bringing his knee up to smash my face on it. I spat the blood out of my mouth and blocked the kick that was coming towards my stomach. I sent a punch to his gut and he exhaled sharply. Using his pause I sent the side of my palm into his neck, causing him to choke and gasp for air.
Alaric managed to regain his breath and went to punch me again but the punch was weaker than the last. He stumbled over his feet just as Damon was getting up, his wounds healed.
"What's happening?" Alaric gasped, falling to the ground. Both Damon and I caught him and we exchanged a glance, knowing what was happening.
"No, no, no, no, no, Ric. Ric! You are not dying, you are not dying," Damon pleaded, cradling him in his arms.
"Look at me, Ric. Come on, I'm not losing you again," I begged, holding his face in my hands as I watched the grey veins run across his face.
"I'm sorry," He whispered as his eyes fluttered shut.
"NO! RIC PLEASE!" I screamed, begging for him to wake up again.
"Alex," Damon said trying to get my attention as I laid my head on Alaric's chest, devastated that I was losing him a second time around.
"Alex," Damon tried again as I shook my head, unable to stop the tears.
"ALEX!" Damon yelled. I forced my head up to look at him. "Elena," He whispered, looking at me with unshed tears in his eyes. My own eyes widened in realisation. "Find her," He instructed me.
I didn't even have to close my eyes this time, teleporting to my sister was so simple that with one blink I found myself staring out at the expanse of Wickery Bridge. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Stefan hauling Matt onto the side of the water. I ignored the vampire in favour of wading into the water as fast as I could and diving down underneath the surface.
Opening my eyes I recognised Matt's car sitting still on the bottom of the bed. Maniacally swimming towards the passenger side, I ripped the door off of its hinges and yanked the seatbelt that had been restraining my sister off of her body. I gently pulled Elena from the car and, using the roof as leverage I kicked off, propelling myself up towards the surface, my sister grasped tightly to my chest.
As soon as I broke the surface of the water, I made my way to the bank as quickly possible and pulled Elena out of the water. I leant down and pressed my ear to her chest, unable to hear a heartbeat. I growled and started compressions on her chest in an attempt to restart her heart. After 30 compression I tilted her head back a little, pinched her nose and breathed out deeply, watching her chest rise from the corner of my eye. Sitting back up I saw she still wasn't breathing. I repeated the whole cycle and looked for signs of breathing again but came up short. After my third round of compression I heard sirens in the distance, signalling help was coming.
"I've called an ambulance, Alex," Stefan said, as he came towards me, a breathing but unconscious Matt being dragged along behind him. "You can stop," he added.
"I'm not stopping until a paramedic physically removes me!" I replied as I started the compressions again. I only had to keep going for another thirty seconds as a paramedic pushed me gently out of the way and placed his bag down next to Elena's head, bringing an oxygen mask out and placing it over jerk mouth. His partner started the compressions that I had been doing while the first man tried to get her breathing. They spent another five minutes trying to revive Elena but stopped when they couldn't get her heart started.
"Why have you stopped?" I asked them, my eyes darting between the medics and my sister.
"We've been trying for over 5 minutes and you were doing the same before we arrived. I'm sorry, but there's nothing more we can do," The paramedic explained.
"Get out of my way, I'll save her myself," I protested, shoving the man to the side and starting the compressions again.
"Miss, we need you to move away from the body," The man said, his voice raising.
"Don't say that! She's not just some body, she's my sister and she is not dying on me! I am not losing someone else! I can't do it. I can't. Elena please wake up! Just wake up, Elena! ELENA, PLEASE!"
"ALEX!" Stefan shouted, pulling me away from my sister, his grip strong.
"Let me go! Stefan we have to save her!" I yelled.
"There is nothing we can do," Stefan replied. I turned to face him and could see the tears in his eyes.
"There has to be! Stefan please!" I begged. My heart was breaking and I couldn't stomach the thought of losing so many people.
"I'm sorry, Alex," Stefan sighed, hugging me to him.
"Why was she even out here?" I demanded. "Why wasn't she at home?
"Matt thought it would be safer to get her out of town. They obviously didn't get very far into their journey before they crashed," Stefan explained.
"Why would he do that? I can't this is just too much, Stefan," I cried. "I need Kol," I added, shaking my head and standing up, taking off at a run through the trees.
I ran to the only place I knew I'd be safe. The only place I knew I wouldn't feel any more pain. I ran inside the Mikaelson manor, stopping only to figure out where the Originals were. I knew we'd be able to comfort each other as they knew the pain of losing a sibling.
"Klaus is gone, Elijah. There was nothing I could do to stop it," Rebekah cried to her elder brother. "I'm sorry Elijah but I did what I had to, to keep our family safe. I'm sorry,"
"What did you do, Rebekah?" Elijah asked. "What did you do?" He asked with more urgency.
"Alaric had to die, Elijah. He had to die or he would never stop chasing us. I did the only thing I could," Rebekah replied. I could hear the regret in her voice.
"Rebekah you didn't?" Elijah asked, hoping what he was thinking wasn't correct.
"She was the key 'Lijah. If she was alive, Alaric would never die either. I can't keep running."
"Did you think about Alex at all? Did you even stop and think about what it would do to her?" Elijah asked, his voice rising in anger.
"What about me?" I asked, walking into the living room, my cheeks stained in dried tears.
"Alex! Why are you here?" Rebekah asked, turning to face me in surprise.
"I was looking for Kol. Elena's dead," I whispered, trying to hold back my tears.
"Alex, I'm so sorry," Elijah sighed, moving towards me and bringing me into a hug. The second I was in his arms I couldn't stop the tears from falling.
"I don't understand it. My whole life has been about protecting Elena. Now she's gone, I just don't know what to do. Nothing seems good enough anymore. The mindless destruction of the world was so plain compared to being a part of something. Being part of a family. And now mine is gone!"
"You still have us, Alex. We're your family too," Elijah breathed into my hair, trying to comfort me.
"I know. And I'm grateful," I nodded, pulling away from the eldest Original. "You'd never hurt me," I smiled up at him.
"Alex, there's something I need to tell you," Rebekah spoke up from behind Elijah. I looked over his shoulder to meet the teary eyed female Original.
"Rebekah, I'm so sorry about Klaus. But I think there is something I can tell you that'll make you feel better," I smiled.
"Wait, I need to tell you something. Alex, please don't hate me. I did the only thing I could do to protect my family. You have to understand that," Rebekah pleaded, making her way towards me.
"What are you talking about Rebekah?" I asked, confused as to why she was acting this way.
"The only way to stop Alaric was to sever the bond he had to life," Rebekah explained warily. "I had to stop Alaric, for the safety of my family. He would never have stopped until we were all dead!"
"But, Alaric was bonded to Elena. That would mean you killed her which is impossible because you're my best friend. You'd never do that to me," I argued shaking my head in complete disbelief
"I'm so sorry, Alex. I'm so, so sorry," Rebekah sobbed.
"Rebekah, don't. Don't say that! Please, don't Rebekah. Rebekah, please tell me Elena's death wasn't because of you. Please just tell me it wasn't your fault," I demanded, my voice raising higher. Rebekah looked at me and shook her head slightly.
"Alex, you have to believe me, I never wanted to hurt you," Rebekah replied, taking my hand in hers.
"Don't touch me!" I screamed, ripping my hand out of her grasp. "How could you! You killed my sister!"
"You have to understand why I did it," Rebekah pleaded.
"NO! I don't understand. I don't understand why you would do this to me. I am the only person who stood by you. I am the only one who was always there for you. When no one else was there, I was. How could you murder my twin sister?! We were finally starting to get along again. You're my best friend Rebekah, how could you do this to me?," I yelled.
"What's with the screaming?" Kol asked, walking into the room with a suitcase but dropping it when he saw my tear stained face. "What happened?" He demanded, making his way towards me.
"Our sister murdered Elena," Elijah said. Without another word, Kol wrapped me up in his arms as I sobbed into his shoulder.
"What were you thinking, Rebekah. What was going through that pea-sized brain of yours that brought you to the conclusion of killing Elena?" Kol yelled.
"Alaric would never have stopped chasing us until we were all dead. He's always find us and I couldn't bear to run anymore," Rebekah defended.
"Tough shit, Rebekah. Alex is our family. By default that makes the Gilberts our family too. As much as I don't care about Elena, I care about Alex. As you said you did too. That's why I packed. I would run from Alaric for the next 70 years, until Elena died naturally, as long as Alex was happy and we were together," Kol explained.
"I did the same thing," Elijah added, gesturing to a bag that was lying by the front door. "We were going to leave as a family. You, Kol, Klaus, Alex and I. But your selfish and childish actions have forced us to rethink our options.
"What are you talking about, Elijah?" Rebekah asked, scared of the answer.
"Family above all, Rebekah," Elijah said.
"Unfortunately, you're not our family," Kol finished.
"You can't leave me!" Rebekah cried. "You can't leave me alone!"
"The way you left Alex alone, without her sister? I believe we can," Elijah rebuffed.
"I can't stay here anymore," I whispered from Kol's chest. I looked up at the devastated expression on Rebekah's face and shook my head. "You guys have family matters to figure out and I need to get away. Just, call me when you're ready. I need some space," I added. Elijah and Kol nodded and I made my way towards the door.
I stopped and looked over my shoulder at the blonde Original. "By the way, I managed to stop Alaric. Just after you left when Alaric was about to stake Klaus. I jumped in the way. He's still desiccated but he's alive," I revealed, leaving the Mikaelson Manor, having no idea where the hell I was going to go.
I ended up walking down the highway, my still wet clothes clung to my body and I had lost one of my shoes along the way. My hair was a mess and I had make up running down my face. I looked a state and I didn't care. All I knew was that I had to drown my sorrows somehow.
I had no idea how far I walked but neon lights to the left of my vision brought my attention to the bar that was sitting just off the highway. I looked up and saw that further up the road there was a few more bars but I decided to enter this one.
"Bottle of whisky," I muttered to the bartender, not even caring about my distraught appearance.
"You'll need to clean up first before I can serve you," The man stated, cleaning a glass.
"Give me the bottle, or I'll kill everyone in here and blow your bar up," I deadpanned, glaring harshly at the bartender.
"Woah, calm down. I got patrons here," The bartender said, placing the glass on the counter and raising his hands in surrender.
"Just give me the bottle," I ordered. The man nodded and bent down, reaching under the counter. I looked around me to see about 15 people all looking at me warily. The cocking of a shotgun brought my attention back to the bartender.
"Get out of my bar, or I'll shoot you in the face," The man spat, aiming the gun at me. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"How about we try something else?" I smirked, jumping over the bar quicker than the man could blink and forcing the shotgun to turn in his hands so the barrel was now facing his face. "How about you shoot yourself in the face," The man's eyes widened and a I pulled the trigger, shooting his face off and spraying mine with his blood.
Screams erupted around me as the patrons all started scrambling to the exit. I turned round and sent a bolt of energy towards the door, shutting it before they could get out.
"Nobody leaves. I'm just getting started." I smiled, vaulting over the bar and stepping in front of the first man I saw, one hand on his face, one on his heart. I ripped his soul right out of him in seconds and watched as he crumpled to the floor. Everyone screamed again and started running to the windows, trying to find a way out.
I whistled a jaunty tune as I ripped the arm off of the man lying on the floor and held it over my shoulder, making my way towards the first person I could see. The man was scrambling at a window, trying to get it open. He didn't even notice me coming until I had lined up the arm with his head. He froze what he was doing and turned slightly to see the arm I was holding. He screamed in fear as I swung the arm like a baseball ball, smacking the man's head clean off.
I teleported behind my next two victims, both of them complete cowards, trying to unlock the door and get away. Their spines were my target as I plunged my hands into their back and grasped hold of the cold, sharp bone. They stiffened and gasped, not even being able to scream in agony as I ripped their spines out of their backs.
I took the next couple of people down by ripping their hearts out, revelling in the blood that spattered onto my face. There was one woman who had been hiding under a table, hoping I wouldn't see her. How wrong she was. I grabbed her ankle and yanked her out from under the table. She screamed bloody murder and I cringed at the shriek and smashed my foot into her face, silencing her ear piercing screams.
I was about to move onto the next person when I felt a bottle smash over my head. I stopped and turned to face a man that seemed to be the only person here with balls. His stance was strong but I could see the fear in his eyes. I bent down, not breaking eye contact with the man and picked up one of the broken shards of glass. It cut into my hand but I knew it would heal quickly as I slowly stood up. The man gulped as I got closer to him. I waved the glass back and forth in my hand, tutting at the man. With a quick movement of my hand, I had slashed through the man's neck. He dropped the part of the bottle he was still holding and his hands flew to his neck in a hopeless effort to stem the bleeding.
I started to gather my energy in my hands as I looked around the bar and the six people who were still left. I had promised I would blow the bar up and that was exactly what I intended to do as I let my energy go, sending it in all directions and incinerating anything it came across with a bright, burning light.
"I need another bar," I sighed as I looked around the remains of the bar, which had now been reduced to ashes on the floor.
After I had destroyed the first bar, I walked up to the other one up the road. However, drinking alcohol had done nothing to help with the pain I was feeling so I had decided to seek solace in people who I knew would be able to sympathise.
"Woah! How did you get in the bunker?" A deep voice yelled in surprise. I looked up at the two men who I had helped out once or twice, hoping they'd do the same for me now.
"Sorry to barge in but I thought if there was anyone who knew how to deal with the death of a sibling, it would be you guys," I shrugged. "My best friend just murdered my sister and I blew up two bars and killed 40 people. I don't think I'm dealing with it too well," Sam sighed and looked towards his brother.
"Yeah, we know all too well what that feels like," Sam nodded.
"Although neither of us killed 40 people and blew up two bars," Dean added. I let out the breath I had been holding and smiled at the two hunters.
"You don't think any less of me?" I asked, hoping I wouldn't be judged by the only two people I knew I could trust.
"We've all done some pretty messed up things in the name of grief," Sam said.
"We have no right to judge you," Dean shrugged.
"That's good cause I wasn't looking forward to having to explain that to a bunch of teenagers," I sighed in relief.
"What bunch of teenagers?" Sam asked.
"Just other people I met on my travels with Kol. I was going to go to them if you had shunned me," I answered.
"Oh yeah, where is the creepy guy?" Dean asked, looking around the bunker.
"He's not with me. It was his sister, Rebekah, who killed my sister, Elena, because her brother, Klaus, was almost killed by my surrogate father, Alaric. As you can see, it's a very confusing and weird situation I'm in," I replied.
"You're telling us," Sam replied, his eyes wide.
"Dean, Sam…Why is Abaddon in the bunker?" A deep gravelly voice sounded warily from behind me. I turned round and came face to face with someone I thought I had seen the last of.
"Castiel? My, my, it has been a while," I smirked at the Angel.
"4 billion years, give or take," Castiel nodded.
"Right about when you were first stationed on Earth, when it was first created," I confirmed.
"Wait…Wait, Wait, Hold the pie!" Dean shouted. "How the hell do you two know each other? And for that matter, 4 Billion years? "
"Well, that's a long story, pun not intended." I replied.
"Believe me, we have the time for it," Sam replied, looking between the Angel and me incredulously.
"All 4 billion years?" I asked smugly.
"Just get to the telling," Dean said, rolling his eyes. I sighed heavily.
"I met Castiel when he was stationed on Earth, the same way I met all the Angels. Being Death's right hand man and the one to ferry souls onto him, I had a link to Heaven and Hell. Well, what was called Heaven, as I've told you before, it's just Limbo. And don't try and fight me on it Castiel, you know the truth," I said, pointing my finger at the Angel to stop him from ranting about Heaven being real. Heaven was the Angel's home, so technically it was real.
"Anyway," Castiel sighed, taking over on the story-telling front. "Abaddon and I-"
"Alex," I cut him off.
"Pardon?" Castiel asked, the surprise evident in his voice.
"I prefer to go by Alex," I told the Angel.
"Why?"
"It was the name my true vessel had at the time I found it again and I've grown fond of it. My name may be Abaddon, but I will always be Alex," I informed him. He stared at me for a few moments more before returning his attention to the two hunters to continue the story.
"Alex and I," Castiel remedied, looking over at me. I smiled and nodded. "Were introduced when I was stationed on Earth as she said. I was very young at the time and Alex would occasionally come up to Heaven, when she wasn't too busy ferrying souls to Death, and tell me stories of the world. She taught me how to control my powers when my brothers and sisters would not even give me the time of day – as you humans would say. I learned much from this woman. We could have stayed together for the rest of time, living out our lives the way we were supposed to," Castiel smiled, remembering the days where I would spend as much time as I could with him, teaching him the wonders of the universe.
"What happened? Why didn't you stay together?" Sam asked?
"My brothers started to get jealous. Raphael, Michael and Lucifer wanted the attention from Alex to themselves. To become more powerful by having the Hand of Death at their sides. That was never Alex and I's relationship. They wanted her for her power. To control her. They all fought over her. It started to rip Heaven apart. The power Alex controls was never meant to stay in Heaven for a long period of time. That was why our meetings were always short. My brothers went crazy over the power and tried to capture Alex. Death had to intervene at that point. He couldn't have his right hand locked up, so he forced Alex out of her true vessel and cursed her to roam the Earth trying to find it again."
"Unfortunately, being out of my true vessel made me invisible to the Angels. They couldn't fight over my power if they couldn't see it. But that meant I was invisible to all Angels. I couldn't see Castiel and he couldn't see me. I felt so out of place without my true vessel I started to destroy the world instead of help it. That's where I got my name; The Destroyer. It's been billions of years but I've finally made it back," I smiled, finishing our story.
"You made it back and brought something with you," Castiel replied, nodding to my stomach.
"What?" Dean asked.
"Alex is pregnant," Castiel informed.
"You're pregnant?" Sam asked, trying to wrap his head around everything he had just been told and now the revelation of Alex being pregnant.
"But I thought your boy toy was vamped out? How could he knock you up?" Dean asked, beyond confused.
"It wasn't Kol," I sighed.
"You cheated?" Sam asked, unimpressed.
"No! I have no idea how I'm pregnant. I don't know what's going," I sighed. "God knows how Kol is going to react when he finds out," My phone rang and I looked down to see it was Kol calling. "Speak of the devil," I scoffed and cleared my throat.
"Alex, where did you go?" He asked when I answered the phone.
"I went to the Winchesters, I needed a friend," I replied, smiling up at the brothers.
"Elijah and I are on our way, we need to talk to you," Kol replied.
"Yeah, I need to speak to you guys too," I told Kol. I looked up at the Winchesters. "Are you okay with them coming here?" I asked.
"Sure, just bring two of the Original vampires into our safe house," Dean scoffed.
"They won't hurt you guys but I understand if you want me to leave," I replied, standing up.
"Ignore Dean," Sam said. "If you trust them, we trust you. They can come here," Sam nodded. I smiled at the hunters and told Kol where to go over the phone.
"We're on our way," Kol said. I was about to hang up the phone when his voice cut through. "Wait, Alex…I love you," He smiled down the phone.
"I love you too," I replied, hanging up the phone. I sighed and looked at the two brothers.
"How did you deal? When the other brother died, how did you deal?" I asked.
"Usually we didn't," Sam replied.
"We made a deal with some kind of demon to bring the other back. But I found a family. Something that didn't make me feel so empty," Dean explained. "You've got a family to go to, Alex. You'll be fine."
"It'll take time, a lot of time, believe us," Sam said looking over at Dean. "But one day, it won't hurt as much."
"Thanks guys. I just can't believe she's dead," I sighed, sitting down in the Winchesters' bunker. Unbeknownst to me, my sister was waking up in Mystic Falls to a completely new life.
So guys what did you think? To my reviewers:
grapejuice101 - Thank you for your review! I'm really glad you liked the last chapter! It was nice to have Elena and Alex closer but you can see how long that lasted since Elena died! Plus yes, the brothers are finally seeing what they've missed out on but now it's too late. I'm proud that she said no to be honest!
SomebodyWhoCares - Thank you for your review! Yeah, but isn't that the way with most people. As soon as you're not available, the person you wanted to notice you finally does! I really don't think the brothers like that very much!
Guest - Thank you for your review! Yep, the boys are jealous and Alex is remaining strong. She loves Kol and Stefan and Damon were too late. Sucks for them! :)
winxgir1997 - Thank you for your review! Much quicker update this time around so hopefully you'll enjoy it!
ddluzelle - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you like the story, unfortunately Alex has been strong and said no to Stefan, for the moment at least -winks-
Kellyxo - Thank you for your review! I;m so glad you liked the last chapter and hopefully you like this one just as much. I love Kol too, I think he;s absolutely brilliant and I really hope I'm not writing him too OOC but that's kinda hard when he was used for about 7 episodes in total. Total waste of a brilliant and interesting character if you ask me. Damn Julie Plec! :P Fast update too this time so please enjoy it.
mortega22 - Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you've stuck with this story and I'm glad you're enjoying it! I love Alex so I'm glad you like her too! Thanks for the congrats on my job by the way it was super sweet of you! Hopefully you like this chapter and I can't wait to hear what you think!
HannahSalvatore665 - Thank you for your review! I'm so happy you like the story, and Alex and Kol! They're awesome fun to write! I don't think the Salvatore brothers deserve her either but I like to watch them squirm knowing what they missed out on! Sorry about Elena, she's starting to grow up now, or she was before she died! Thank you for your kind words, I really hope you enjoy this chapter! Can't wait to hear what you think!
Marissa - Thank you for your review! I think you may be waiting for a while since Alex and Stefan won't be happening any time soon. Sorry about that but that doesn't mean they won't be together in the future!
Atlafan1286 - Thank you for your review! I'm really glad you liked the last chapter and I really hope you like this one too! Let me know what you think!
Taylorrocks17 - Thank you for your review! I'm really glad you liked the last chapter and I am genuinely so sorry you have to wait so long but I cannot thank you enough that you don't give up and keep reading and reviewing! Thank you for your kind words! It means a lot! I'm team Alex/Kol too but who knows how he's going to react to the news from this chapter! Let me know what you think!
Guest - Thank you for your review! Well you half predicted the future! It wasn't Kol because I didn't want to go all twilight and have to explain why a vampire knocked someone up. But yes, Kol is going to be a father, at least he will be if he forgives Alex!
beth - Thank you for your review! Hopefully you're happy I updated faster this time but getting chapters out does take a lot of time, I can't just sit down one day and decide to write, there's a lot of going over and rewriting parts so I'm sorry if they don't come out very quickly.
Nicole - Thank you for your review! I was waiting for your review, no joke! They always make me so happy! :) I am so happy you liked the last chapter! I felt like they had to be in it more, the Original family are her family, they have to be there for her! I am so happy you like Kol and Alex, they really make this story, their chemistry together is lightning and I adore every second I get to write about them!
Yeah, torturing Alex was really hard to write but dark Alaric doesn't care, he'd torture Alex if he had to and he did. I didn't enjoy it but it was pretty bad in this chapter too!
I think I kind of cleared up the feelings for right now, they had to be established but I am proud that Alex was able to day no, she's happy with Kol and she's staying with him if he'll forgive her for what happened with Klaus.
I love Elijah too, he's just so good to have been in as few episodes as he was so I brought him into more of them, being his gentlemanly self! Rebekah if I'm honest was a bit OOC but she is quite a selfish character if you think about it. She does love her family but she also loves herself, so she'd do anything to make sure both her and her family are safe, even if that means hurting her best friend. I think that's pretty true to her character
I think there will be another Kol/Klaus beat down in a future chapter, seeing as what's just happened! But it will be fun to write. They both have such massive personalities that aren't entirely different so they're going to clash a bit!
Much quicker update and I can't wait to hear what you think about this chapter! xxxx
ShadowBatt - Thank you for your review! Yeah, I picked Alex. She's the one with a baby on board right now and I think it's going to be pretty fun to see where this goes! I really hope you do like it! Can't wait to hear what you think!
So guys, I know what happened may not be to everyone's tastes but I think it rings true to the characters and I did not want to write half hearted chapters through season 4 because you guys don't deserve that. I think the story is going to focus more around the Originals that the Mystic Falls gang for a while but don't fret! They will be back!
I really hope you guys liked this chapter but feel free to let me know if you didn't! I love all of you and I will see you all in Chapter 38!
