Chapter 36

Jade smiled and laughed as she tossed Skymaze high into the air, watching as he hovered in place and started to move around using his thrusters. The other little fliers were practicing hovering by jumping off her shoulders and staying in the air on their own while she tossed one of them up. Ever since Starscream had started teaching them their flight abilities were growing by leaps and bounds. The annoying mech visited possibly twice since the last battle, each time having the undivided attention of the four winged siblings. He would assign tasks for them to work on while he was gone and as their mother she helped them with their homework. Right now they needed to make it to thirty minutes staying in the air by either hovering or flying. Needless to say the four loved their homework.

Ever since that day she bumped into Sunstreaker things had been looking up. She had prevented Barricade from starting another prank war due to him being bored. The Femme Trio had been fixed and had dragged her off for a girls' day of gossip and lounging in the sun with some female soldiers. Jade herself became good friends with a woman named Jessica Ryan. Jess, as she liked to be called, was a strong willed woman of about five feet and six inches tall with an athletic body that Jade would have killed for if she was still human. The soldier has her chocolate hair in a tight bun most of the time and has a laugh that reaches all the way to her sparkling hazel eyes. She grins so wide that it shows her teeth and whenever she does something devious she gets a devil-may-care smirk. In all, if Jade was human and interested in women then Jess would have her heart in a second.

Best of all, Jade hadn't seen a speck Galloway in all that time!

A ping on her com broke through her thoughts as she caught a tired Maze. Holding four very tied children Jade smiled and answered her com.

:: 'Ello? ::

:: Mu-Jade, I'm coming back to base with Sam and his girlfriend! :: Bee's happy chirp came over the line. Well, as happy as it could be seeing as Sam had a girlfriend.

:: Really? How long until you get here? :: She smirked before continuing, :: And you do know I don't mind you calling me Mumma or a variation of it, right?"

:: We'll be there in a few minutes!, :: he chirped, obviously trying to hide the embarrassment of his slip.

:: Cool, I'll round up the kids and we'll meet you in the main hanger. :: Jade smiled and the two broke the line.

Finally she was going to meet this Mikaela Banes that Sam gushed about and Bee complained about.

True to his word, Bumblebee drove into the main hanger about five minutes after their conversation. Luckily in that time Jade had gathered the children and Barricade to greet them. Out crawled Sam and a pretty brunette followed by a small robot that had parts looking remarkably similar to the remote controlled car Jade had given Sam as a Christmas gift in ninth grade. It looked around and appeared to be getting ready to do something inappropriate when it turned to her and noticed she was giving him the patent "Look," also known as "The Look" to many. Instantly the little male snapped his mouth shut, keeping his most likely vulgar words to himself. Bee transformed only to be tackled to the floor by Shield who had missed the yellow scout something fierce.

Sam actually did something intelligent and started introductions, "Mikaela, this is Jade, the big one on Bee is Shieldstriker, Location is on his head. Carbonation is the green Dew machine. Cheatcode is the white one and the three smaller ones near her are the triplets; Dial, Screenshot, and Chatter. The four with the wings are the seekers; black and green is Skymaze, red is Labtech, blue and pink is Trapmaster, and blue and yellow is Healingblade." He paused before looking at Jade, "Jade, this is Mikaela and Wheelie."

"Pleased to meet you, Mikaela. It's nice to finally meet the girl that the twerp talks about almost nonstop." Jade laughed when she got both humans to blush.

"It's nice to meet you too. Can I ask you something?" Jade nodded all the while feeling unsure if she liked this girl or not. "Are you really Sam's cousin that is believed dead, but somehow got turned into and Autobot?" Well she certainly knew what to ask.

"Technically, I'm a neutral. And yeah, I'm that cousin." The red painted woman turned serious eyes to Sam. "I thought you were supposed to keep that quiet."

"Hey she figured it out on her own!" He raised his hands up in defense.

"I figured something had to be up since he used to talk about you and how he hated himself for saying mean things to you the last time he saw you, but after visiting the base he suddenly stopped," Mikaela reported.

"One, Sam you're still bad at hiding things. Two, I think I'm going to like you, Mikaela."

A few hours later Jade dragged Sam away from the group for a little family talk.

"So are your parents okay?" she questioned since Jazz had told her that Decepticons had kidnapped them and brought them to the battle in Egypt.

"Yeah, but they want a piece of the guys now. They put two and two together and figured out that they were the reason the lawn got destroyed years ago.

Jade snorted before turning serious eyes on her cousin. "So you and Mikaela huh?"

"Yeah, I'm still a little shocked that she's stayed with me for so long," Sam confessed.

"Sam, how long have the two of you been together?" she prodded.

"A few years."

"Do you think you love her?"

"Yeah, I think I do."

There was a brief pause as the two stared out over the desert.

"Does she feel the same?" she tentatively asked.

"Yeah, she told me that she loved me," he responded with a fond smile.

"What did you say?"

"We kept getting interrupted."

"Tha's no excuse! Sam, if ya wan' 'er ta stay, ya need ta tell 'er an' soon! A girl can only take so much uncertainty before cuttin' 'er loses an' leavin'!" She didn't want to see either human hurt.

"I know! I just need to find the right time to tell her!" he snapped and stormed away.

Jade had a bad feeling the Sam wasn't going to tell Mikaela in time and both were going to be miserable.
