Nira slowly roused from her deep sleep, blinking slowly. She sighed, stretching out her arms, yawning hugely. It had been a few days since the party, and she found every night since then that it was steadily becoming easier to fall asleep.
She only somewhat remembers her dreams though. It made her uneasy, sure, but after her vivid nightmares, she took it as a blessing.
Her ears twitched as she heard something… it sounded like it was coming from Vegeta and Bulmas roo – "Oh my god." She said in a mortified whisper. "Oh my god no." she felt herself want to gag and decided she was not going to listen to his any longer.
"I'm gone, goodbye, so long." She hissed, throwing her windows open and hopping onto the roof. After closing the windows she took off as fast as she could without potentially destroying the house.
Even half across the continent, she was still shuddering. I've got to purge my ears and memories of that. She gagged. Somehow. Someway.
She circled the Earth twice before she felt a familiar ki in a land of lush mountains. Silently, she lowered herself to Earth.
He's in that mountain over there. Nira thought, looking up at one of the tallest peaks. Probably meditating. Her mind added, making her smile. Sighing, she spun in a circle and walked the opposite way. I'm not gonna bother him, though.
Nira strolled within the valley between the mountains, finding herself in starlit forest of weeping willows. The silver light flowed from in between the curtains of leaves like rivers. The Morakian felt her heart stir, the brink of inspiration upon her.
She followed the trees until she came upon the middle of the valley, a shimmering blue lake that seemed to hold some stars within it. Lightning bugs glowed from the trees around it.
Nira's mouth went dry as her eyes drank the scene before her. It's so gorgeous. She sighed, stepping to the mossy shore. Like out of a story book.
Nira wasn't literate in English, but she was teaching herself by struggling through books. Reading them over and over until she understood what they meant. Just because they were mostly children's fairy tales didn't mean anything. At least she was making an attempt, unlike Vegeta who could only spell Capsule Corp because it was written on half of his shirts. She could write RECEDING HAIRLINE on his forehead and he'd still have no idea what it meant.
That thought made her giggle, but she soon put all of her attention on the pond. Humming in thought, she looked down at her sleep shorts and shirt. She debated on taking it off, unwilling to get it wet, but decided that it was better to be safe then sorry.
Drumming a quick tune with her fingers, getting her body in tune, she took a deep breath and walked on water.
Before you freak out about alien Jesus, understand that because of ki and the fact that she, along with many others, can at least float, so no. She is not alien Jesus.
(ALSO: if you want to know what song she's about to dance to look up Forbidden Friendship from the How to Train Your Dragon Score.)
A tinkling sound like raindrops on leaves began to ripple with the water. Nira began to dance, all soft and elegant movements. She felt her soul sigh with content as a radiant smile spread across her face. She wasn't aware of the eyes that had come to see her.
Underneath the glow of the stars, Nira became a goddess. The Namekian that floated above thought she looked much like Artemis would, the goddess of the moon and the hunt from the tales Gohan used to read to him when he was a boy. Bold, breathtaking, and deadly. Intimidating on the battlefield, with her scars and her hauntingly rough voice that could send a shudder of fear and excitement down an opponent's back, refreshing when at ease with her smart mouth and her lopsided smile.
And when she danced… it could nearly break one's heart.
Her song had reached his ears on the cool night's breeze. He had immediately known who it was, and had come out of his hiding place to tell her to go back home, but when he saw her, he had stopped in his tracks.
The water around Nira was dancing with ripples. The soft, beautiful song that she was creating was coming to a slow crescendo as an orchestra of harps, drums and strings sung under her care. Her own voice joined in as she began to twirl. The water rose to caress her, leaping like a dance partner, draping across her like liquid clothing.
And when the song came to it's soothing end, full of a choir of her voice, Piccolo almost wished it didn't.
The water returned to it's home, joining her in her waltz back to land one last time. Nira sighed, turning her face to the pleasant night and it's glittering diamond stars. The breeze ghosted across her wet skin, sending goosebumps rising up her arms. On that same breeze, she heard a sigh.
Turning her gaze to the mountains, she saw the familiar form of her teacher floating there, the gray light making his leathery skin glow.
The two stared at each other for a moment, both in mild embarrassment. One for watching when he knew he shouldn't have, and the other for being watched.
Taking a steadying breath between her teeth, Nira raised her hand in greeting. "H – Hi, Piccolo."
Knowing he was soundly caught and there was no escape to be had now, he sighed deeply and flew to meet her.
"What are you doing out here, Nira?" Piccolo asked, landing with a quiet tap. "It's got to be late where you live."
"Well, you're not wrong." She hummed, rubbing her white tattoo. "I kinda had an urgent need to get out of the house."
When Piccolo merely frowned, she could feel him riffling around in her brain.
"Woah there!" she hissed, shaking her head "You don't want to know! You don't want to know!"
She could tell by the look on the Namekians face that it was too little too late. His eyes went big as a disgusted frown pursed his mouth.
The Morakian couldn't stop the breathless laugh that snuck out past her lips. "I tried to warn you." She chuckled, smiling brightly at him.
Piccolo was staring at her intently, a strange light shining in his eyes as his expression became something similar to wood.
Nira's lips pulled down as a slight sick sense hit her stomach. "Uh, I know it's traumatizing and all." She said, looking away. "I'm sorry about that."
Piccolo blinked, swallowing. "Uh, no, it's fine." He said. "It's not like it's a new concept to me anyway." He crossed his arms.
A bead of sweat rolled down between Nira's shoulder blades. Oh, boy, this topic. Change subject before you say or do something stupid. Her thoughts whispered. Ignoring the treacherous mutters her own mind supplied, she cocked her head to the side, her ears twitching. "Don't Nameks make eggs, though?" she asked. "I know you're asex… Oh." She huffed. "The time living with Goku and ChiChi… ah." She chuckled nervously, running a clawed hand through her hair. "Having super hearing can really suck ass sometimes."
The two stared at each other as a nervous flush scuttled up Nira's neck.
"I… probably could've worded that better." She muttered, looking down at her shoeless feet.
Piccolo huffed, his lips pulling up. Nira looked up at him just as he sniggered into his fist. She felt an elated, glowing feeling bloom in her chest as she saw him smile, laughing because of something she said.
Yes. I'm hilarious! Part of her whooped in triumph.
Piccolo put his fist down, his smile still in place. "You're fine." He said, his eyes had that look in them again.
Nira practically glowed, beaming up at him. "Hehe, thanks." She said, an adoring shine in her chocolate orbs.
Peaking over the mountains, the sun began to rise, blanketing the world in bright sorbet oranges and pinks. Leading them was a gentle bluebell blue. The two aliens turned to watch the spectacle in comfortable silence.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to that." Nira whispered softly.
Piccolo nodded slowly. "Earth has it's moments." He turned his gaze to watch her, noting how the new light made her wet skin glitter. "You didn't get to see this much on Siccus, though." He hummed.
The Morakian was the one to nod this time. "We had long summers, where it was only sun. And when the cold months came, night never left. I think I only saw the sunrise maybe once or twice over there." She answered contemplatively.
Piccolo felt that smile try to tug at his lips again. "Yeah. Namek was kind of the same."
The two watched the sun rise over the horizon with silence the rest of the way. And only when it was over the tallest peak did Nira say it was probably time for her to go.
Piccolo watched her go, remembering the sudden realization he had when she had laughed with a sense of dread.
He was romantically attracted to her.
