Chapter 37: Drama Queen Magnus Bane

Alec POV

"Nooooooooooo." The sound of a desperate voice interrupted the silence in the apartment where I was just waking up over my first cup of coffee. Magenta was still sleeping due to her being a teenager. Well she had been sleeping until a few seconds ago. Now she and I both sprinted to the bathroom where the scream had come from.

"Bloody hell, this can't be happening to me. There's no way. I'm the magnificent Magnus Bane." Magnus was standing in front of the mirror his face nearly touching the glass. Magenta and I gave each other a startled look. What exactly was he doing there. I mean, I was used to him admiring himself in the mirror but now he was cursing and shouting. It wasn't his usual behavior.

"Dad what are you doing there?" Magenta asked carefully. Magnus could be very rude when he was interrupted staring at himself in the mirror.

"Don't you see it? I'm ugly. It's atrocious. I'm disfigured. How can I ever go out again?" He wined. I looked at his face. He looked like usual despite the fact that he hadn't applied make-up yet.

"There's nothing wrong with your face. You're beautiful like always." I told him reassuringly.

"Do you actually just tell me I've always been so... so... so repulsive? How can you even look at me. I'm ugly." He turned around theatrically so we couldn't see his face anymore. "Leave me alone. You don't have to witness my shame. Go. The times of the magnificent Magnus Bane are over. The world will have to look for another 'Sexiest Man Alive'." Suddenly there was a strong force pushing us out of the room and slamming the door in our stunned faces.

"Do you think he'll kill himself?" Magenta asked warily.

"No, he won't. He just loves to be a huge drama queen. He'll come around sooner or later. Maybe he's growing a pimple. He'll get over it we just need to give him some time" I sighed. Still after nearly ten years of marriage he hadn't changed a bit. Not that I had expected him to of course. "Do you want a coffee too now that you're awake?" I offered her. Might as well go back to my breakfast. No need to sit in front of the closed bathroom door.

"Yes please." She answered gratefully.

We both sat down and sipped our coffees in silence. After a few minutes she broke the silence. "You know what happened yesterday?" She asked. I simply shook my head. "Bella and I talked."

I looked up to see her smile. After their disastrous break up Magenta had been crying for a weak and refused to go to school. When she went to school again she came home and told us she and Bella were ignoring each other. Everyday it had been the same now for half a year.

"What did she say?" I asked curiously.

"Well, she told me that she missed me. Not as a lover but as a friend. At first it was really awkward but then I missed her too. I can't deny that I had been lonely without her. She had other people running around her begging to fill my spot as had I. But neither of us could replace the other one. I hope it will get back to normal now." Her smile brightened.

"But you're not going to get back together?" I asked.

"No, certainly not." She answered. "She even introduced me to her new girlfriend. She's so much of a rule breaker. Her girlfriend's a vampire. They got together just two days ago. They also invited me to a party tonight. Am I allowed to go?" She looked at me pleadingly.

"No." I told her. She'd never been much of a party girl. She gave me a particular puppy eyes look. "Please daddy. I'm a responsible girl. And I'm nearly an adult now." She knew exactly that I had a soft spot for her. Every time she gave me that look I just couldn't say no.

"But you won't drink and you'll be home at ten. And no talk to unknown boys."

"But daddy. Bells also invited me to sleep at hers tonight so we could catch up a bit. Please?"

"Well fine, but just because I know you're a responsible girl. I trust you to not do something reckless."

"You're the best." She screamed and throw her arms around my neck and kissed my cheek. I blushed. That girl, she knew exactly how to manipulate me. But I just couldn't be mad at her.

"You're a spoiled brat, you know that?" I told her. "I guess Magnus had enough time to recover by now." I added to escape her blandishment.

I got up and went to the still locked bathroom. I softly knocked at the door. "Magnus?" I asked softly.

"I told you to get away." He snapped.

"Magnus, open the door. You know, I love you no matter what it is. Please come out." I begged him.

"No." He resisted stubbornly.

"If you come out now I'll reward you." I tried to seduce him into opening.

"When you see me like this you won't want to." He sounded a little softer than before.

"I told you, no matter what it is, you're still beautiful to me." I heard footsteps behind the door. Magnus must be at the door now. But he didn't show any sign of opening it.

"Dad please open the door. Whatever it is we can solve it together. We do love you no matter what." Magenta tried to help me. And finally we heard the key turn around in the lock but the door still didn't open. I opened it and Magnus was standing in front of me, his head hanging and looking to the floor.

"Don't look at me. It's atrocious." He repeated his earlier words.

"I can't see anything wrong." I told him and caressed his face with my fingers. "How can't you see it? It's obvious." He said.

"Tell us, what is 'it'?" Magenta pleaded.

"I've got a wrinkle."
