I woke up the next morning to see that at some point in the night Octavia had snuck back up here to see the grounder. She was still up here now talking to him quietly. He looked to be almost completely cleaned up. Octavia's doing I was shore. I closed my eyes and pretended to still be asleep before they could realize I had woken up. I could not see or hear much but it seemed for the most part Octavia was doing the talking and he must be nodding in response because I did not hear him speak.
Only a few minutes had passed when I heard Miller start to ster. I opened my eyes to look at him and saw that he was in fact waking up. When he opened his eyes the first thing he seemed to see was Octavia. He closed his eyes again and then quickly opened them again realizing what he had just seen.
"Octavia you can't be up here." He said to her.
"I'm not doing anything wrong." She replied.
"Your brother will kill me if he finds out." He told her.
"You're not the only guard up here." She replied.
Miller looked over to me to see that I was also awake.
"A little help Dahlia." He said to me.
"I think you can handle this one." I told him and then sent a smile to Octavia that she quickly sent back to me.
"Uhhh, Octavia just get out." He said to her raising his voice slightly which got him a slight glare from the grounder.
"Fine." She said as she stood up and stormed out.
"You know you could have had my back." He snapped at me once Octavia was gone.
"And why would I do that?" I asked him.
"Because Bellamy told us not to let her next to him." He told me.
"There is our problem. I don't have to listen to Bellamy." I told him. "I stayed up here for one reason. Octavia asked me to make shore no one else hurt him." I told him.
"Whatever." He said as he started toward the hatch.
"I'm going to get some food." He said and disappeared.
I sat up there alone for a few minutes before Bellamy joined me. He did not say anything he just walked over and sat down next to me. We sat there silently not feeling the need to try to fill the silence. It was not accorded, it was actually sort of nice. The silence that is, not the fact that we are both hiding from Clarke who was talking to the Ark in a room with a tied up and tortured grounder.
We both knew this top level was our sanctuary. No one would come looking for us up here. Bellamy moved and sat in front of the grounder and I sat behind him leaning against the wall. Miller came up the ladder and the sound of the hatch opening filled the silence.
"Did you talk to the Ark?" Bellamy asked him.
"I told Diggs, mom the news, John's dad. I'm supposed to talk to Roma's parents later." He answered him.
"Thank you for doing that. I own you." Bellamy told Miller.
"Telling all these parents that their kids were murdered by grounders, I just wish I would say we were getting some justice." Miller told him.
"Were not killing him." Bellamy told Miller as he looked at the grounder.
The only reason I could see for Bellamy keeping him alive was for Octavia.
Miller was angry buy his response. He grabbed something out of a bowl near the grounder. He then turned and looked to the grounder.
"You looked a lot scarier when you had that face pain on." He told him as he rubbed it all over his face.
The grounder responded by head butting him. Al the while he continued to look at Bellamy. I could not help but smile. I could see why Octavia liked him.
"Maybe we should not make him angry." I said as I helped Miller up off the ground.
I handed a cloth to him so he could try to stop the bleeding. He held it to his face as I helped him down the ladder.
I followed him down and looked for Clarke. I stopped outside her tent when I heard her talking to someone. I listened closer and I heard that she was talking to Jaha. I knew I should walk away but I could not help but listen.
"Tell me about the grounder. Can he provide any insight on how to survive winter?" Jaha asked her.
"Were doing everything we can to prepare here. We're gathering nuts and berries, curing meats, digging for roots, but the truth is we will freeze before we starve." She told him.
"There's good news on that front. According to civil defense plans from before the war, there's an old emergency aid depot not far from the landing site. Here are the coordinates" I herd Kane tell her.
My stomach dropped as I herd his voice. I wanted to jump through the TV and punch him in his face. I really did not like that man.
"In addition to supplies, it could provide shelter from the 100 and for the citizens coming down from the Ark." Jaha told her.
"And what makes you think it's intact?" Clarke asked him.
"It was designed to withstand nuclear warfare." Kane responded.
"Okay it's worth a shot." Clarke told them.
"Chancellor I have to object." Diana's voice rang threw the room.
My heart latterly stopped. What the fuck was Diana doing sitting in a Council meeting? Why was she even there? She had been removed from being Chancellor seat, and removed from the counsel. This is not good. That lady is a snake.
"Project excides is under way. The kids should sit tight in their camp until the first drop ship launches." She said.
"Even if everything goes off without a hitch, the 100 would die from exposure before relied arrives. I like a moment with Clarke alone, please." Jaha said to the members of the Counsel.
There was a few moments of silence and I assumed that was everyone leaving the room so Clarke could talk to Jaha alone.
"And I know there is a line of parents waiting to talk to their kids." He told her.
"Clarke we are very proud of what you have done down there. Your mother." He said to her but Clarke was not having it.
"I don't want to talk about my mother." She told him.
"Please Clarke it's time to forgive. Let me schedule you and Abby to sit down." He told her.
"Look. I know you both think that betraying my dad, killing him, was an unbelievable tragedy, but I don't see it that way and I never will. So, just tell me who's next. And let someone who actually wants to talk to their parents have a turn." She told him sternly.
I knew there talk was coming to an end so I turned and walked away before Clarke can see I was listening. I walked over to Jasper and Monty and helped them sort through some nuts.
I looked over to the tent and watched as she came out.
"Dax!" Clarke called out as she looked around the camp for him.
"Hey you guys seen Dax?" She asked Jasper and Monty who were still sorting nuts.
More like throwing most of them into each other's mouths.
"Over there on meat crew." Monty told her.
Clarke quickly turned and walked away from us.
Jasper and Monty started talking again. I did not know what about I was too busy watching Clarke.
