Jasper POV
It was seemingly impossible to believe that everything was suddenly falling into place. Life was a complete mess a couple days ago, but now, it's finally perfect. There were still some things to work on, but I was about to take care of those. I headed into the living room to find Trey lazily watching TV with Desiree. He smiled at me when I came into the room.
"What's up?" He asked, sitting up on the couch. I grinned at him and shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly.
"Would today be a good day to spend some quality time together?" His smile was wide as he nodded. "Okay, I'll meet you in the garage in ten minutes." I said happily before heading upstairs to my Bella.
She was beautiful. Her hair fell imperfectly around her face while she lay on my bed reading a book. Her focus was impeccable; trying to absorb all the details. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her.
"Love, I'm going to take Trey out for a father-son day. Is that alright with you?" I asked, coming to sit next to her. Bella looked away from the book and met my gaze with a loving one.
"Jasper, you don't ever have to ask permission. He's your son." She smiled before reaching up to kiss me softly. Her lips were the most incredible; I kissed back softly.
"We'll be home a little late." She nodded before turning her attention back towards her book. If only she knew what I had planned for the next couple of days. I wanted to do an evil laugh at the pure genius, but that might be a bit much.
Trey met me in the garage and I grabbed the keys for Emmett's jeep. He hopped in the passenger seat excitedly. I pulled out onto the long highway and began the long drive ahead of us. It was a good thing it was early in the morning so we'd have enough time once we got there to get settled for tomorrow. I could feel Trey emitting emotions of excitement, curiosity, and a bit of apprehension.
"Where are we going?" He asked with his eyes gleaming. A smirk spread across my face.
"You enjoy basketball, right?" I inquired casually. Trey nodded proudly.
"I made the varsity team as a freshman." I loved the grin he gave me as his pride rang in his voice.
"That's amazing. Since you like basketball and you're very good at it, I got us courtside seats to a Clippers game." I captured the look of excitement on Trey's face to save in my memory forever. It made me feel wonderful to know that I could do something to make him happy.
"We're going to Los Angeles?" He asked with even more eagerness. I nodded towards him happily. "Good thing the game is at night or else you'd be lighting the place up!" He snickered and I couldn't help but laugh with my son.
The drive to Los Angeles would take about 9 hours give or take. It'd be nightfall when we'd arrive so that was on our side. The damn sun tends to get in the way when trying to blend in with humans.
"What is your favorite color?" Trey looked at me incredulously for a moment before answering.
"Blue." He answered. Things like this may not matter to everyone, but I missed out on 17 long years of their lives; I wanted to know everything I could about my son.
"When did your Mom tell you about being a vampire?" I questioned while minding the road. He laughed and ran a hand through his hair.
"We were kids when she told us, but I don't think we really understood till we were like 14. She was a nervous wreck when we were going through elementary school and middle school, thinking we might blow the secret, but we never did. Mom's a worrier." Trey mused with humor. I couldn't agree more; Bella was always worried about something.
"What were you like as a child?" I asked inquisitively. Trey guffawed to himself and I exchanged a grin with him.
"Mom says I was a handful, but I never thought so. I may have gotten into some fights at school growing up, but never anything dangerous. I didn't run with a bad crowd as a kid, but I got hurt a lot which made Mom crazy. I remember I loved to eat cereal while watching TV every morning before school. I got really into music as a kid, so that's where I play the guitar and violin from. I was a pretty happy kid." I could feel the happiness radiating through me at my incredible son. He was something else and I was proud he was mine. Bella did a wonderful job raising them both.
"What's your favorite subject in school?" Trey pondered for a moment before coming up with a response.
"It's definitely history. I love learning about all the wars and battles that took place." A smile sprawled across my face; he'd really enjoy knowing that I fought in the Civil War.
"I was in the Confederate Army." Trey's eyes lit up with excitement.
"No way?! That's awesome! You gotta tell me more!" He exclaimed, turning in his seat to face me.
"I was the youngest Major in the Texas Calvary. I persuaded my way into the Army before I turned 17, which is probably why I have the power I do today. In two years, I had worked my way up to Major. I was in charge of a lot of good men. We wanted the South to win; it was in our blood. I led several evacuation orders for women and children. After one of the evacuations, I was heading back to Galveston where my troops were when three vampires had stopped me." I told Trey with as much pride as he used when talking of basketball.
"What happened next?" His eyes were burning with interest.
"The one named Maria changed me. She used to me help her control an army of newborn vampires; my power was very useful to her as I could control large groups of them. There were a lot of territory wars by vampires in the South and we won them all. We were the most powerful in the South." I wanted to shudder at the haunting memory of Maria.
"Is that how you got all the scars?" Trey asked with apprehension, looking at my covered arm. I sighed and nodded.
"Newborns are dangerous creatures. Their only instinct is to kill for their thirst, so that was the hard part about training them. It was difficult before I learned how to manage my empathy power and get their emotions under control. I call them battle scars." I said with a smirk. Trey looked a little disturbed, but also very intrigued.
It was difficult to not be upset by the past, but by thinking of all the positivity in my life, it was also hard to be upset by it. I hated the monster I was back then; but I know I'll never have to be that again.
"Dad, how old are you?" He asked suddenly. I laughed and thought about it for a moment. I had forgotten all about age; it doesn't matter much when you live forever.
"I'll be 178 in July." Trey's eyes were huge as he took in the information. It was hard to believe it for myself. Where did I get so old?
"I guess I really do have an old man." He laughed and I joined in with him.
"I'm forever stuck at nineteen." I chimed in and he laughed harder.
"My Dad is two years old than me; how weird." Our laughter filled the jeep as I kept speeding down the highway. Trey spoke after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "Do you like me Dad?" I was taken aback by his nervous question. I put a hand on his shoulder.
"Trey, you are one of my greatest accomplishments in 178 years and I've haven't known you for one yet. I feel blessed; if it's even possible, to have you as my son and that you've accepted me quickly. I'm one of the proudest fathers you could possibly think of. I love you son." I scanned his emotions to make sure he believed me; he did. Trey smiled naturally as we continued down the highway in chatter.
We reached the hotel late at night and I could tell Trey was tired. He fell asleep quickly and I observed him. It was almost weird to watch him sleep; but it was fascinating. I haven't slept in so long that I had forgotten what it feels like; but he looked peaceful and so much like my Bella.
As the sun came up and our day began; it was filled with much more conversation about Trey and the things he likes. I loved hearing about his quirks and things that made him who he is. He truly is my son because this kid loves history and debate; just like me. We talked for hours about the wars, poverty, the economy, and politics. It was nice to know we agreed on most things.
The game was very exciting for Trey. I never knew just how into basketball he was until the game started. It was enjoyable being there with him; hollering and cheering for the Clippers. I'd have to take him to a baseball game when the season starts to show him my sport. We had laughed until our sides hurt at things we discussed or saw; overall, it was the most amazing time with my son. After the game, we went to the player shop and I bought him a couple jerseys and shirts, which he was thrilled about. All too soon the game was over and we were on the drive back to Yreka.
Trey had slept for a majority of the ride, but I woke him as we were nearing our town. "I have to ask you something."
"Go for it." He said, still sounding sleepy. I laughed out and I wasn't sure if it was from the nerves.
"You were the main man in Bella's life for many years, so I felt it would be right to ask you. May I marry your Mom?" My nerves were up as I awaited his response. It's like Trey woke up all of a sudden after I asked. His eyes were filled with happiness and it was radiating off of him.
"Of course you can Dad!" He laughed. I let out a nervous laughing, releasing the anxiety that I didn't realize built up. "She's going to be so happy."
"That's my goal; making my family happy." Trey and I exchanged a smile before falling into another comfortable silence. I couldn't wait to surprise Bella.
I pulled into the garage and Trey practically ran to see Desiree. I laughed before heading inside. I needed to hatch a plan.
I had the perfect plan; but I'll need Alice's help. She was always great at things like this and I was grateful for it. Edward looked over at me and smirked faintly. I knew it was going to be perfect.
Mandy convinced Bella to go hunting and they took a majority of the family; Emmett, Edward, Esme, Carlisle, James, Trey, Rosalie, Desiree, and even Jacob. Jade decided to stay since she hunted the day before; I needed to ask her permission as well. Bella left quickly with the family, giving me a chaste kiss before disappearing out of the door. Once they were out of hearing range, I turned to Jade.
"I have a very important question to ask." She perked up as I spoke to her. Jade came to sit beside me on the couch.
"What is it?" She asked, her curiosity getting the best of her. I smiled nervously and she laughed impatiently; so much like Bella.
"May I have your permission to marry your Mother?" Before I could finish the entire sentence, Jade had her arms wrapped around me tightly. I hugged her close and smiled at her as we pulled apart.
"Yes! Oh my gosh! Yes Dad!" She exclaimed joyfully. Alice and Victoria both had huge smiles across their faces and the giddiness in the room increased drastically.
"Alice…" I said slowly turning towards her. She giggled and bounced over towards me; taking me in a tight embrace. I squeezed her back before hugging Victoria tightly as well. The two of us had grown really close and I was thankful Bella had her; as odd as it could sound. "I'm going to marry Bella. The proposal has to be beyond perfect. Can you three help me with that? I want to do it the day after tomorrow." Alice dashed off quickly before returning with a giant white binder. She sat down Indian-style facing me. Victoria and Jade sat on either side of her with their happiness exploding everywhere.
"I'll bring in a romantic swing set. We can have twenty dozen red roses around our backyard; petals can surround the swing set. After she says yes; which she will because I know things; Emmett will set off fireworks from the roof at twilight." Alice and the girls were engulfed in the conversation and planning. I would never go against Alice on her planning skills.
"It's perfect." I smiled which caused all of them to smile hugely in return. This would be completely wonderful; Bella will have no idea what is about to come her way. Victoria had her phone out and was calling the flower store while Jade was ordering the swing set from her lap top. Alice sat in front of me smiling still.
"I'm really happy for you Jasper. Things have changed a lot since 2005, haven't they?" She asked with a sigh. I sighed, the memory of attacking Bella haunting me.
"Things really have changed, but at least we're friends and that's what truly matters." Alice smiled before hugging me gently then skipping off to join the girls. I grinned to myself before running upstairs to my room; lying onto the bed silently.
Bella truly is the love of my life. I love every little thing about her; whether it's how she scrunches her nose when she's angry or the way she winks when flirting with me. Very few men have the opportunity to meet someone as delightful as her. I breathed in deeply and my senses were taken over by Bella's lovely scent; strawberries and freesia. My sheets were coated in her aroma; God, how I love her.
The group returned an hour and a half later. Everyone was joyful and happy now that they have fed. Bella softly came into my room. I smiled; beckoning for her to lay with me. I pulled her into my arms and held her close.
"How was the hunting, dear?" I asked while softly caressing her cheek. Bella smiled and it revived my stopped heart.
"Good; it was interesting with the wolves there. It was highly unappealing for us to attack them, but it was quite amusing to have them around. Desiree almost killed herself by morphing in a tree and breaking said tree; children these days." She chuckled with humor and curled into my side.
"Would you like to go to Paris someday?" I asked, looking at her with a wild expression. Bella was caught off guard by the random question, but she answered calmly.
"Victoria and I went a few years ago and it wasn't really for me, but maybe it'd be different with you there. It is the city of love." She laughed playfully and I smiled at her lovingly. "What about traveling somewhere like Antarctica or Spain? Why do you ask?" She wondered aloud.
"Curiosity." I sighed, leaning my head back into my pillow.
"I think it'd be fun to move to Alaska or Texas, even though they're complete opposites. It'd be fun to play cowgirl and buy a ranch in Texas. We could have horses and chickens and a yard full of flowers. I'd love to be carefree like that, wouldn't you?" She blurted out suddenly. I looked at her and felt myself fall even more in love. Yes, I have thought of doing things like that.
"I'd love to do that with you Bella. The animals might not enjoy it too much and the sun is sort of our enemy unless we're secluded. Maybe owning a ranch in Montana would work out better because it's more private than Texas." I sighed, kissing her forehead.
"I've found that horses do not run from vampires, depending on how you approach them. They're the sweetest creatures; I've seen plenty." She laughed softly.
"Someday we will fulfill all of those wants of yours." I laughed, kissing her nose playfully. Bella smiled.
"Oh! I would also like to go to Tokyo." I laughed at her bluntness and kissed her delicate cheek. Bella sighed and leaned into me. Our peace was soon interrupted.
"It's time for a good ole game of truth or dare! Get your lazy asses down here!" Emmett's boom echoed throughout the house. I rolled my eyes, but went with everyone downstairs, except Carlisle and Esme; they never join this crazy stuff. "We have our basic rules; if you refuse to do a dare, then you lose a piece of clothing and a group dare comes about which is where we all have to do the dare that the person who picked the party pooper chooses!" Emmett smirked happily.
"Should the children be playing this game?" Jake asked, nervously looking at Desiree. I shook my head no, agreeing with his nervousness.
"But!" Jade pleaded, except I cut her off with a no. "Come on Dad!" She tried pleading again.
"No…" I refused once more. She will not play this adult game with a bunch of crazy vampires, especially Emmett. It tends to get out of hand.
"Please!" She tried again.
"No." She huffed at my response.
"But Dad…" She sounded adorable but I would not break on this.
"No is final, young lady; head on upstairs with Trey and Desiree." I said firmly, putting my foot down as they call it. She poked her tongue out at me in defeat before heading up the stairs with Trey and Desiree right behind her.
"You're a party pooper, Dad!" She called down the stairs and I smirked. I thoroughly enjoyed being called Dad by them. It made me feel warm and elated inside.
"Okay, I'll start." Emmett said while smirking and sitting in the circle of us 'adults'. "Alice, truth or dare?" He asked, staring at her. Her eyes glazed over as she peered into the future.
"Ugggh, you suck Emmett." She groaned causing all of us to laugh. "Truth." She succumbed. Emmett smirked evilly. Edward gasped; appalled.
"What part of my body, below the waist, would you most like to kiss?" He asked, looking at her. Alice made a gagging sound. It was quite amusing.
"Probably your foot!" She scrunched her nose in disgust causing Emmett to boom with laughter. He shook his foot at her playfully and she glared at him. "James; truth or dare?" She asked looking at him with her wide gold eyes.
"I'm not afraid of anything, so dare." James spoke with confidence radiating off of his body. Alice's eyes glazed over once again before a mischievous smirk appeared on her face. James swallowed silently, his nervousness increasing.
"I dare you to eat this." She danced off into the kitchen and came back with a mixture of things in a glass; ketchup, pickles, mayonnaise, onion, barbeque sauce, orange slices, and vodka. It looked disgusting and the smell matched. James winced as he swallowed the immoral drink.
"That was utterly disgusting." He whined causing the majority of us to laugh. "Truth or dare Rosalie?" He smirked, knowing that she wouldn't back down from a dare. He held something behind his back concealing it from all of us.
"Dare, obviously." She said challengingly. James cackled, and yes, I do mean cackled like a witch; it was terrifying.
"I dare you to allow Edward to dye your hair hot pink." Rosalie let out a shriek of rage and it echoed throughout the house. You didn't mess with Rosalie's hair.
"No! No! No! I refuse; onto a group dare!" Rosalie said while taking off her jeans; leaving her in a pair of black lacy boy shorts, similar to Bella's red ones. Emmett's hormones increased and he nearly drooled while ogling his wife. James let out another evil laugh.
"Okay, since Rosalie doesn't want to dye her hair; I guess everyone will get a hairdo then!" James said, clapping his hands together. Rosalie groaned at his plan. Alice and Bella would dye the hair while Victoria and Mandy would style it. This should be interesting.
Alice POV
This was a horrendous plan that James had come up with, but it would be hilarious. Bella and I put everyone's name into a hat on a tiny slip of paper while putting a color into another hat. It's a good thing we had stored random hair dye from our old times of playing games like this. Victoria and Mandy were setting everything up in the bathroom while Bella and I sat on the floor in my bedroom.
"The first victim is Jacob." I smirked, pulling his name out of the hat. Bella reached into the other hat and pulled out a color.
"Looks like Jakey boy is going to be a red head." She snickered. She reached over to pull out another name. "Me…" She groaned. I grinned and pulled out a color slip.
"Blonde." I shrugged before pulling out another name. "Jasper." Bella smiled and pulled out a color.
"Brown." She pulled out another name. "Mandy." I pulled out another color.
"Green." We both snickered at that one. We continued on until everyone had a color. We called the first victim, Jake, up and put him in the chair of torture as Bella used to call it. Bella put blacked out contacts in his eyes to block his vision.
"I hate this." He grumbled as I began to dye his hair. Bella rinsed the wash out after the suggested time and we sent him off to the stylists.
"It's not too bad." Bella mused, trying not to giggle. Jake's hair was a vibrant red. Too bad I won't tell them that its temporary dye and it'll wash out in three weeks.
"I wish I could see it." Jake whined from the bathroom down the hall. I laughed from his irritation.
"Jasper, you're next!" I called downstairs. I heard him groan before dashing upstairs. Bella put another pair of contacts in his eyes, but they would dissolve in two hours; we'd be finished by then.
"Why me; be at the wrath of two loves?" He mumbled as we began to color his hair. I washed it out after the suggested time and pushed him over to Mandy. Jake was finished with his styling and screaming at us. We both shoved him down stairs quickly; the laugher roared up into the bathroom at the sight of him.
After we colored everyone's hair, including our own, we headed back downstairs. Jasper looked nice as a brunette, but Edward looked incredible with his dark black hair. Mandy was glaring at us for the green hair and Victoria was doing the same with her purple hair. Emmett was whining over his platinum blonde curls as Rosalie was pouting with rage over hot pink locks. Jasper smiled lovingly at Bella before the game started up again.
"Truth or dare, Bella?" James asked. He had to go twice since Rosalie caused the group dare. He looked at Victoria strangely with her bright purple hair, causing her to flip him off with a pout. He kissed her chin to make up for it; they were really meant for one another.
"Dare." She shrugged.
"I dare you to spend the next round on the player to your left's lap." We all looked and saw that it was Edward; how awkward would that be? I know that they love each other, but Edward can and will not replace me. Bella sighed, getting onto Edward's lap. He smiled softly at me.
"When is the round over?" Bella questioned while looking at James.
"At the next group dare." He sighed. Bella groaned and kicked her legs out.
"Truth or dare Jake?" She asked, staring him down with her multicolor eyes.
"Ah what the hell, dare." He shrugged while getting relaxed on the carpet.
"Trade clothes with the player on your right." Bella laughed, seeing that it was Rosalie. Rosalie groaned before heading to the closet to change out of her clothes. She handed them to Jake, minus her lost jeans. Jake went behind the wall in the kitchen, undressed and dressed. He came out in a sparkly pink tank top that was incredibly small for him and his boxers. He gave his shirt and jeans to Rosalie. She came out from the hall closet with the jeans dragging on the floor. The shirt just about swallowed her.
"This smells horrible." Rosalie said, trying to control her grimace. Jake laughed loudly.
"Enjoy the wolf musk." We all had a laugh at that. "Edward, truth or dare?" Jake asked, staring at him and Bella. Edward shrugged, picking truth. My eyes glazed over at every question and it was highly annoying. Jake pouted before asking his question. "Who is the one guy in the room you would have sex with if you had to?" Jake asked as we all busted into giggles. Edward gasped, looking appalled as he looked at his options; Jake, James, Emmett, or Jasper.
"I would have to say Emmett." Emmett smiled at Edward's answer, looking flattered. I sent a pout in Edward's direction. "Nobody is better than Alice." Bella made a eww sound and we all laughed again. It was nice that we could enjoy each other's company so much.
"Alice, truth or dare." He asked, looking lovingly towards me. It made me melt.
"Dare." I smirked. He's my husband; he wouldn't make me do anything too horrible.
"Kiss each player; French." I glared at him for concealing his decision. "I am a man." He laughed. I rolled my eyes and made my way around the circle, kissing each player. I sat back in my spot, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Emmett, truth or dare?" I asked. I knew I had the perfect dare for him.
"Dare, naturally." I grinned and laughed, causing Emmett to gulp.
"Hmm, what's something horrible for even you to do?" I pondered for a moment to build up his tension. Emmett looked like he would break a sweat if it were possible. "What about holding Jake in your hand for ten minutes?" Emmett was completely disturbed. Jake brought out his member; it was naturally large. Emmett closed his eyes dramatically as he reached out and poked it before shrieking. It sent all of us into a fit of laughter. Jake had an extremely awkward look on his face and Emmett would be scarred forever. It was perfect hilarity!
"Jasper, truth or dare?" Emmett asked, keeping his head tilted upward, away from Jake. Jasper shrugged and picked dare.
"What if it's time to give Alice some payback? This was a pretty cruel joke. What would make Alice angry? Oh, I know! Jasper, I dare you to have sex with Alice." Even Emmett had taken things too far this time. Bella's face was one of shock, as was Edward's and mine. How dare he say something like that? Emmett had no bad intentions, but come on; he knew it would never happen.
"The game is over." Carlisle called down into the living room from his study. I sighed out of relief, as did Bella, Edward, and Jasper. We all shared a look before laughing once more. The game was fun while it lasted.
What did you think of this chapter? Emmett takes Truth or Dare way too far, but we gotta love our crazy boy! Carlisle is such a father and I enjoy him as the position! Hope you all are enjoying so far!
