Chapter 36
I slowly open my eyes, as the light above me blinds me. My head felt fuzzy... I could barely move with how sore I felt. But I could recognize where I was. I was in the infirmary, I look to the left of me to see Yusuke laying asleep in the bed next to me.
"Aya!" I hear as I slowly turn my head to see Sakura sitting next to my bed, "Thank goodness." she slightly smiled as she wipes away tears.
"What happened?" I asked as she looks at me shocked,
"You don't remember what happened?" she asked and I slowly shake my head. "The last thing I remember is we we're all finally together and then..." I stop as it all comes flooding back to me. I jolt up, ignoring the pain my body felt as much as possible,
"No Aya you should rest!" Sakura said trying to get me to lie back down, I look over at the farthest bed to see Kolt attached to a respirator.
"Saya did all this?" I said shocked,
"It wasn't Saya..." Maka said entering the room, "she's being controlled by Eggman." she said pulling up a chair and sitting next to Sakura,
"Why... it wasn't supposed to turn out this way..." I began to cry,
"Please Aya you need more rest," Sakura said wiping the tears from my face.
"What will resting do? We already lost." I said,
"We just need to get stronger," Yusuke said slowly sitting up.
"Not you too," Maka said running over to Yusuke's bed, "You definitely need more rest! Kolt isn't even conscious so get some more rest before we come up with a plan!" "She help Yusuke lay back down and it didn't take her long to fall back to sleep.
"You should go back to sleep too," Sakura said,
"What about Kolt?" I asked
"Kolt has a broken arm, three fractured ribs and has some slight internal bleeding," Dr Q. said
"Will he be alright?" Sakura asked,
"He's healing well, but with the amount of injuries it will still take some time for him to heal... let alone wake up." She responded then looked at Yusuke, " Yusuke is in better shape but is still pretty bad, she has countless fractures in both her arms and legs, luckily you just got a minor concussion Aya so you should be all healed up by this afternoon. But I do recommend you rest it will speed up your healing process." she said
"Alright," I said laying back down,
"We'll be right here if you need anything," Maka said, I close my eyes and drift back to sleep
I wake up discovering several hours have gone by, Sakura was still next to my bedside but she was asleep, but Maka was nowhere in the infirmary. I quietly climb out of bed to not wake Sakura and leave to see where Maka went, the base was dark. I don't think I've been in complete silence in a long time. And with everything going on that silence felt cold and lonely. I head to the Hanger bay thinking she would be there, but no such luck. after a few minutes of searching I decide to go back to the Infirmary before someone realizes I'm gone. before I could even open the door it swings open and Dr. Q is glaring at me.
"I never gave you permission to get out of bed." she said
"Sorry," I said walking in and climbing back into bed,
"Honestly, all of you want me to have grey hair at the age of thirty!" she sighed,
"That's not true," Sakura said
"You're the only one who hasn't been severely injured Sakura so you're on my good list." Dr Q said,
"Anyone seen Maka?" I asked
"She went back to her room to get some rest," Sakura said,
"And you should do the same," Dr Q said
"Easier said than done when you all keep talking," Yusuke said sitting up and stretches,
"What do you think you're doing?" Dr Q said
"Stretching," Yusuke said "I'm fine now," she said as loud beeping turns us towards Kolt who was pulling out the respirator and sitting up,
"What in the world!?" she ran over to Kolt to stop him, "You are in no condition to be moving." she said but he pushes her away,
"Tikal!" he yells standing up and she appears,
"Yes, Knuckles?" she asked
"Why didn't you tell us there was a Dark Chaos Emerald!?" Kolt said with anger in his eyes, Tikal jolts out of fear,
"I... I'm sorry, I swear I had no idea that there was a Dark Chaos Emerald," she said
"You expect me to believe that? You're connected to Chaos, there's no way you couldn't know." he said, as Tikal lowers her head
"I felt the presence of Dark Chaos energy but I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from, I thought it was just energy... I had no idea that Dark Chaos took physical form." she said
"Why didn't you tell us?" Sakura said
"Because... I didn't want to worry you," she said
"And look where that got us!" Kolt yells "We all almost died, all because... you... couldn't..." Kolt collapses of the floor and we all rush to help him,
"This is why I said stay put!" Dr Q said, "Help me get him back to the bed." she said as we help pull him back to his bed,
"Good to know there's no brain damage, he's still his hot headed self." Yusuke said
"Any longer of his hot headedness could of killed him." Dr Q said as I notice that Tikal left during all the commotion. "I need to get him stabilized, it seems the rest of you are alright to go to your rooms but come back in the morning for a checkup." she said as we all leave,
"That was a bit intense..." I said
"Are you okay to walk Yusuke?" Sakura asked
"You don't need to worry, I feel fine. Just tired." she said with a smile,
"Well then both of you get lots of rest," Sakura said with a smile,
"I'm going to, and tomorrow we get to work." Yusuke said as we all enter our rooms.
