Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged laid on the ground, the back of his head buried in the sand.

He wasn't dead. But, judging by the slow disappearance of everything concrete above him, he wouldn't be there for a long time.

There was no one else. No one alive in the whole Universe, which was getting more extinct with every passing second. The world was becoming devoid of life.

I will miss being alive. The thought struck him like a slice of lemon wrapped around a cast iron frying pan. Now, he was about to die, and he realized that he had missed things. Oh, he had lived and seen, explored, discovered, but the perspective of life eternal had killed the mood.

Until now. Now, eternal life had turned into eternal silence. Death. An everlasting feeling of nothingness. An endless absence of emotions, of consciousness.

And now he could see what he hadn't made and what he should have been doing.

A drop of salty water appeared at the corner of his eye.

Then, after what seemed to be an eternity in itself, he heard footsteps getting closer to him.

He sat and watched. His eye caught a glimpse of a metallic gleam on the horizon.

Wasn't he the last living soul of the Universe?

He waited, the rythm of is heartbeats accelerating. Maybe there was still hope. Maybe he wouldn't die alone. Or maybe someone would save him.

And he waited. Patiently, nervously.

Until the metallic gleam turned into a robot.

The robot was small and slow. To him, he seemed magnificent.

And then, the robot was here, and Wowbagger found in himself the strength to stand up.

The robot gazed at him and said :

''Wowbagger, the Infinitely Prolonged.''.

His mouth dry with excitement, he said :

''Y... yes ?.''.

There was a brief pause, after which the robot said :

''You are a prat. A complete moron.''.

And the robot was gone once again into the desert.
