Blues for Sister Someone

"Morning Addie," Meredith chirped and handed Addison a cup of her favorite coffee from the cart.

Addison accepted the cup and looked at Meredith with bruised, tired eyes. "Thanks, Mer."

"What happened to you?" Meredith asked, concerned as they headed into the hospital.

"Just not sleeping well lately," Addison demurred. "That trailer gets chilly after dark. And the noises from outside are freaking me out."

"Addie's not big on the whole nature thing, Angel," Mark leaned down and kissed her cheek and then did the same to Addison.

"Mind getting your lips away from my wife, Sloan?" Derek's voice snarled. "How can you stand there and kiss another woman in front of your girlfriend?"

Meredith rolled her eyes and then pivoted to face Addison. "It's easy for him to kiss her in front of me," she claimed. "Wanna see why?" She leaned forward and pecked Addison's lips with her own. "There now we've both kissed your wife this morning."

Addison's cheeks tinged red but she laughed. "Maybe he's feeling jealous," she nodded her head at the gobsmacked expression on Derek's face. "You should both kiss him."

Meredith blinked and then stared between the two men with an appraising look. "I think I could handle watching them kiss, Addie. Or maybe I couldn't handle it and I'd be forced to take some drastic action. You?"

Addison swallowed and then regarded the two men with the same look. "Drastic action most definitely."

Derek took a step back at the look on their faces and Mark smirked. "Get the feeling they're imagining us naked?" Mark asked quietly.

Derek swallowed hard and then glared at him. "Keep your perverted girlfriend away from my wife. The two of you have corrupted her enough."

"For God's sake, Derek," Addison exploded. "Learn to take a joke. Like you haven't imagined me and Mer in a similar situation."

"I'm taking the stairs," Derek said and strode away.

"Damn, damn, damn. And crap, crap, crap," Meredith hissed into her phone.

"Hello to you too, Angel," Mark laughed. "Oh, I forgot we did away with hellos a long time ago. It's been so long since you actually called me that I had forgotten. So what's up?"

"Remember the heart patient from a few months ago? Denny Duquette?"

Mark hummed in thought. "Oh, right. The one that didn't get the new heart. He was admitted again a few weeks ago wasn't he? And Izzie and Alex broke up over him or something."

"That's the one," Meredith confirmed and settled her hip against the nurse's station as she made a few notes in his chart. "I think…I think Izzie's fallen for him."

Mark sat back in shock. "That's…um, that's really not a good thing. At all."

"Yeah."

Bailey eyed Meredith with a frown. "So…what's goin' on between Stevens and Denny?" She finally asked. "Is it a crush, is it an innocent flirtation, or is Stevens actually crossing the line?" She stared into Meredith's face, trying to read the answer.

Meredith swallowed and couldn't tear her gaze from those brown eyes. "I know she likes him," she stalled. "I can't imagine Izzie would do that."

"Un-hunh," Bailey grunted dryly. "I couldn't imagine you and Yang would be stupid enough to fall for your attendings, but I was wrong about that, wasn't I?"

"Hey!" Meredith protested. "Mark wasn't my attending when we met. He didn't even work here. I didn't work here. I hadn't even gone to Medical School yet."

"And I wasn't talking about Sloan," Bailey rolled her eyes.

"Hunh?" Meredith frowned in confusion. "Oh, right," she finally nodded in realization. "Yeah. That wasn't such a great move was it?"

Bailey snickered. "You really forgot about him? Seriously?" Meredith shrugged. She hadn't exactly forgotten about her short-lived relationship with Derek but…it wasn't something she thought of every second either. "Maybe you aren't so stupid after all."

"Ladies," Mark cheerfully greeted his three favorite female interns.

They looked up from their charts with various expressions of frustration. "Bailey's mad at me again," Meredith pouted up at him.

"Stupid George won't tell me anything and he has private jokes with Callie now," Izzie leaned against the desk.

"Why would Burke even consider letting his idol go to someone else for a surgery?" Cristina groaned.

"Bad days then?" Mark chuckled. "Cris, he doesn't want to be the one to kill Eugene Foote. Iz, stop pushing, he'll tell you when he's ready. And Angel, what did you do this time?"

"I didn't do anything. Izzie did it," she whined. "Seriously, Iz, Bailey's on the warpath over this thing between you and Denny so be careful."

Izzie rolled her eyes.

"Hey," Meredith leaned back against Mark's chest in the elevator. "Have you talked to Bailey today?"

"No more than usual," he murmured and pressed against her back. "Why?"

"Just…" she sighed. "There's something going on between her and the chief."

"Like what?" He asked. "Seriously. You don't think they're having an affair do you? Cuz I just can't see that."

She giggled and thumped the back of her head against his chest. "Don't be gross, Mark. Bailey wouldn't do that. And Chief Webber has been committed to Adele for as long as I've been alive."

"I know," Mark chuckled. "I was only teasing. I think Webber's having a few problems adjusting to the fact that his best resident is a mom. He's not quite sure how to deal with it."

"That's stupid."

"Mer," Mark pushed his head into the bathroom looking for his Angel. "The house is empty," he breathed to the naked form in the shower.

The door slid open and a slim hand beckoned him to her. "Good. Alone is good."

Mark quickly shed his clothes and stepped into the shower with her. He placed his hands on her hips and pulled her flush against him. He leaned down and traced the shell of her ear with his tongue. "Together is better," he whispered.

She turned around in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, lifting her lips to press against his.

The pounding at the door had them both jumping and nearly slipping on the wet floor. "Meredith!" Izzie called loudly. "You have to come help me! Seriously! He brought her here. Why did he bring her here?"

"Get lost, Izzie," Mark bellowed back. "We're busy!"

"No!" Izzie yelled. "I need Meredith. Right now! She has to tell him that his skanky girlfriend can't stay here."

Meredith rested her forehead against Mark's chest and sighed. "We need new roommates."

"Right at this moment, Angel," Mark matched her sigh and wrapped his arms around her. "No roommates sounds even better."
