Chapter 34
Within minuets an ambulance had arrived and Sandy was safely on her way to hospital. Jason and Annalease were told that only one of them were able to travel in the ambulance with her.
"Jase you go, I'll get home and come up with the others" Annalease said as she placed her hand on Jason's shoulder reassuringly. Jason nodded unable to speak clearly in shock at the scene in front of him, Annalease was so happy that their mum had been found but she couldn't help but want to remove the scene from her head as Sandy was in a very bad way.
"Annalease, come over here I'll walk you home"Rick called as he saw her running away, as she ran she was stopped in her tracks by a lifeless Brad being carried into an ambulance, a wave of emotion hit her.
"Leave me alone! I don't want anything to do with you" she shouted not caring about the tone she used.
As Annalease ran home Rick followed her, she turned back to see that he was quickly catching up with her, not having her house key on her she panicked knowing that he would probably eventually catch up with her. Tears of fear streamed down her cheeks as she ran, when she finally made it back home she banged on the door with all of her might.
"Lease, what's wrong?!" "Where's Jase?!" Freddie asked as she gripped onto him tightly, as he opened the door, she sighed with relief as her foot made contact with the door closing it before Rick had the chance to get there.
"It's mum! She has been with dad and Brad all the time, there was an explosion mum's badly hurt, Jase has gone with her" Annalease said quickly, making it hard for Freddie to understand, the others came rushing in when they heard the commotion.
"What! Slow down please" he placed both hands on her shoulder in an attempt to calm her down.
She took as many deep breaths as she could but still no sign of calming down, this sometimes happened when she was in a terrified state, Lindsay rushed over as she saw Annalease in difficulty.
"Sweetheart, I want you to try and breathe normally for me okay?!" Lindsay said confidentially, Annlease nodded and tried her best to return to a normal state, after 15 minuets she started to feel better. She then managed to explain what had happened, Rick was still outside the house demanding to be allowed in to look after his daughter.
"Get lost! Non of your kids want anything to do with ya, look what you've done to your daughter!"Freddie fumed as he pushed Rick by the scruff of his neck out of the back gate of the Roscoe house.
"I never meant for any of this to happen! I love my kids with all of my heart" he whined, Freddie was having non of it.
"If you loved your kids you would get yourself as far away from them as possible, me and the others did a better job bringing them up. They resent you, I want you out of Hollyoaks tonight and I never want to see your smug face sniffing around here again. Do I make myself clear?" Freddie had his hands firmly around Rick's neck, he was red in the face from the impact.
"Please let me say goodbye to my kids!" Rick pleaded, he relaised that Freddie meant business.
"If I see you anywhere near those kids you'll be a dead man!" Freddie pushed him hard out of the gate, slamming the door behind him, Rick ran off into the dead of the night. Annalease was now asleep on the sofa, the impact of her panic attack caused her to wind down for the night. Lindsay stayed home for the night while the others all went to the hospital.
Annalase was startled awake at around 3am by her phone violently vibrating on the coffee table in front of her, gently sitting up she picked up her phone and saw that there was 'Unknown Caller ID' showing up on her screen, worrying just in case it was something to do with the hospital she answered it quickly.
Hello?
Annalease? I need you to come and see me at the hospital!
Brad is that you?
Yes! Just come quickly, come on your own but please hurry up.
What! Why?
There's something I need to tell you but face to face.
Okay I'll be 15 minuets!
Thank you.
Quickly setting her phone back onto the table, Annalease really wondered what she was about to hear, deep down she cared about Brad and her instinct told her that he needed her to help him with something and she would do her best to help him because she knew that if she didn't things could go wrong. She ran as fast as she could to the hospital, she searched for Brad's ward. Ward 47 soon came into view, as she neared his side room she looked through the window stopping in her tracks immeditley when she saw Rick and Sandy sat beside his bed. Sandy looked like she was out of the woods with only a few visible cuts and bruises.
"Mum?" Annalease said with raised eyebrows looking around the room to see if there was anyone else visible.
"Hello sweetheart, sit down we need to talk about something" Sandy smiled, she did as she was told.
"Why have you called me here at 3am?" Annalease was nervous at this point.
"Me and your dad have something to tell you and we wanted to tell you on your own" Sandy sighed, Brad gave Annalease a reassuring smile, she reluctanrly smiled back.
"Is it something terrible? Please tell me it isn't bad news" she knew she couldn't take anymore bad news.
"No princess it's something that could possibly change your life, myself and your Mum won't be mad with whatever you choose. This will be entirely up to you" Rick said softly, Annalease grimaced at the word princess Rick and Sandy were together again it seemed and she wanted nothing more than Rick and Sandy to be apart.
"Just spit it out!" she retorted, still a little grumpy at being woken up so early.
"Me and Rick are moving to Spain and we want you to come with us" Sandy smiled, Annalease shook her head quickly.
"NO! You two can please yourself I'm playing no part in it, Mum why do you want anything to do with this waste of space! Why do you want to take me away from my brothers, my friends and my studies" she said in an angered tone.
"Please don't talk about your dad like that, we thought that a new start would do you good. We've decided to have another go of things without the boys being around, Joe and Fred warned him before we had a real chance to rekindle our relationship" Sandy had a happy glare in her eyes which made Annalease smile a little.
"I'm not going to come, but I guess if you two are happy together then you deserve a chance to work things out, why have you got Brad involved?" Annalease asked.
"Brad will be coming with us, his Dad is on the lookout for him and if he stays in the country he'll be tracked down sooner rather than later, as soon as we get settled you can come and visit whenever you want it's only about 2 hours on a plane" Rick smiled, hearing that Brad was going to made her feel a little upset, she liked Brad and quite a lot.
"I'd like that, promise to keep in touch yeah?" Annalease said finally softening to the idea.
"Of course! Why would I forget about my children" Sandy smiled, Annalease resisted temptation and hugged her mum tightly. They were shocked out of their embrace by a timid sounding Brad.
"Do you mind if I have a private word with Annalease please?" Brad asked, Sandy and rick stood up.
"Yes! Take as long as you need" Sandy said, she kissed her daughter on the cheek and left the room, Rick smiled at her knowing that she was still upset with him she smiled back quickly wiping the smile off her face.
"Why did you want to speak to me alone?" she asked, sitting herself beside Brad on the bed.
"Because I love you" he announced, Annalease was shocked.
"What? I don't understand why drop this now just as you're about to leave" she said softly feeling slightly angry.
"I was scared that you would reject me, your mum and dad would approve I've already had the conversation with them" Brad smiled, she couldn't help but think how cute his smile was.
"I can't come to Spain with you, my life is in Hollyoaks. This doesn't mean I don't love you too but I'm sorry I have to stay" tears spilled out of her eyes as she spoke, Brad picked up her hand.
"Why didn't I risk it all and tell you sooner" Brad said softly, tears now spilling from his eyes.
"I've gotta go home, I'll come and see you before you leave" Annalease kissed his head as she left.
"Mum, Dad I'll see you in the morning are you coming to tell the others at some point?" she asked.
"Yes sweetheart, I'll be round at some point I should be discharged tomorrow afternoon"
"Okay, see you soon" Annalease gave Sandy another hug and made her way home.
When she got home she headed into the bathroom locking the door behind her, she sat down with her back to the wall and brought her knees up to her chin, here she broke down. She wanted to stay in Hollyoaks with her family and she also wanted to try things Brad.
"Oi I need the loo Rob is that you making your will in there" Freddie shouted as he tried the door.
"It's only me" Annalease said in a high pitched voice trying to hide her emotions, Freddie could read her like a book he knew something wasn't right.
"Come on kiddo open the door, we need a chat" Freddie chirped, Annalease gently stood up and opened the door, Freddie sat beside her with his back to the bath tub and his long legs spread out.
"What's bothering you?" he asked.
"It's Brad he told me that he loved me and I feel the same way" she sobbed, Freddie pulled her into a side hug, she placed her head on his shoulder.
"Sometimes we fall in love with people we can never be with, me and Linds for instance there's no way in this world we're ever going to be able be together" he said.
"Mum and my Dad are thinking of moving to Spain and they've asked me to go to, but my life is here and I don't want anything to change, but Brad is also going with them" she said, Freddie tensed up a bit.
"Why can't mum forget about Rick, he's always causing some sort of conflict. Why is Brad going with them?" Freddie tried to rack his brain for an answer but he couldn't think why.
"He's on the run from his dad, if he stays in the country he'll find him" Annalease grimaced at the thought of Brad's dad finding him.
"Anyway enough about them, do you remember the time that we all took you to watch Legally Blonde?" Freddie asked. Annalease smiled, feeling happy as the memory came flooding back.
"Yes I do, it was one of the best days of my life, we were all happy back then" she sighed think back to all that had happened since.
"How about you head to bed and in the morning when you get up the postman will bring you a surprise?" Freddie smirked, Annaleases face lit up.
"A done deal!" Annalease smiled, as she made her way to her room Freddie booked some theatre tickets online he couldn't wait to see her face when she saw the tickets, Musicals weren't Freddie's thing but Annalease needed cheering up and he knew that this would do it.
