I don't own Tsubasa

Even with his accelerated healing from his vampire half, Fai was in an extraordinary amount of pain from the battle last night. It hurt to move, to talk, hell it hurt to breathe. What Kurogane had taken for him bottling up emotions had mostly been him trying to avoid as much pain as possible… throwing that pillow had practically killed him.

After Kurogane had left the room Fai had slowly pulled himself to sit up. The blanket pooled around his waist, he groaned when he saw the blackish blue bruises that were littering his torso disappearing under the hem of his pants. Cautiously he stood and limped over to the wardrobe before pulling out a simple black robe that slid on easily enough.

The thought of bending over to shimmy out of the lose pajama bottoms didn't sound like fun at all so Fai left them be and went to sit back down on the side of the bed and rubbed at his sore eyes with the back of his hands.

Things just didn't feel real at this point… he had really killed the man he owed his life to… he could distinctly remember the horrible hot feeling of to warm blood on his cold hands and the words Ashura-ou had whispered to him. 'Thank you so much child…"

He had seen the light fade from the kindest amber eyes… and yet he felt as if Ashura was going to come across the hall and ask him to come to a boring court session to doodle notes back and forth…

But he wouldn't…

Fai held his breath so that he wouldn't start sobbing. Tears streamed down his face and eventually it all became too much and he was gasping a shuttering and it hurt. His heart hurt, his head hurt, and his body hurt and it only made him cry harder. The blonde curled on his side and cried harder than he could remember doing since his first night in Celes after his brother had died.

He was loud and he knew it, Kurogane could probably here him from the end of the hallway so even though Fai jumped when the door slammed open, he wasn't surprised when the ninja rushed to his side. The only thought that crossed his mind as a large, warm hand started to rub up and down his back was that he was glad he had sent the kids away.

The ninja waited silently until Fai got his breathing under control but it took Kurogane twenty minutes to calm Fai down enough for the blonde to manage a few words. "It—it hurts."

"Let me see…" the hits Fai had taken in the battle had looked pretty nasty, but he should have checked for any real damage before he let his mage sleep. Fai carefully pushed himself into a sitting position on shaky arms and let the ninja tug the robe over the top of his head. "Fuck."

"Yeah, you're telling me…" the blonde winced as he lowered his arms, and yelped when Kurogane placed a hand delicately over a particularly bad bruise.

"Try and relax. I'm not trying to hurt you." Fai's injuries could have killed a normal man… he looked like he had had some internal bleeding but his vampire blood must have done its job and sealed the wounds before he had bleed out.

His mage needed a doctor. "Oi. Lay back on the bed while I got tell one of the servants to fetch a healer."

"Please don't leave…" Fai's breathing picked up again and his eyes started to get misty.

"'m not leaving, just getting one of the people in the hallway." Kurogane stood up and opened the door he could hear Fai shift on the bed behind him and by the time he had sent a young girl to fetch a healer his mage was settled back on top of the covers. If he hadn't looked so miserable Kurogane would probably have found him beautiful.

They sat quietly for a while, just staring around the room until there was a knock on the door and Ciel walked in. It took everything Kurogane had not to audibly groan as the pervert priest approached his mage, concern painting his features.

"F—Fai... good god… why didn't you call me last night?"

The blonde just turned his head to the side, not interested in getting a lecture. He squeezed his eyes shut and bit his lip as Chalcedony ran his hands over his wounds examining them with magic. Even the light touches were painful…

"I'm afraid that… well there's nothing I can really do for you… there was some pretty extensive damage here but it's all healed up with new tissue. I'll fix as much of the bruising as possible so hopefully you will be more comfortable."

Fai sighed as Kurogane lunched into the summarized version of how that had happened which turned out sort of like—Hey, yeah, bout that. Turned him into a vampire—which of course took more than a little extra explaining on Fai's half.

He wasn't in the mood to do it though so simply rolled on to his stomach and buried his face in the pillow.

Yuui jumped to his feet when Fai limped into the room and plopped ungracefully down at the pools edge. The little blonde was instantly upset as he rushed over to his still living brother's side. "What happened to him?"

Ashura stayed where he had been lounging before and watched the two for a moment. Fai wasn't in good shape at all, aside from his physical injuries it was obvious that he emotionally distressed. "Are you asking about his bruises or the fact that he looks so distraught child?"

"Both…"

"Fai is upset over my death I assume… and he was injured in our battle." Kurogane came into the room seconds later fallowed by a servant with a tray of food.

"…oh… I don't understand…" Yuui moved cautiously away from Kurogane who came to sit silently by Fai's side. The ninja had taken the tray of food and set it in front of his mage. "…Why would you hurt Fai?"

"I didn't mean to… I wasn't in my right mind and your brother—well shall we say he put me out of my misery upon my request…"

"Oh… so… you still love us right?" Kurogane poured some of the water in a glass and held it up to Fai encouraging him to drink. They still hadn't said a thing to each other.

"Of course. I could never stop loving you two… I am not proud of what I did but I didn't have any other options…"

Together they watched the pair silently. There weren't a lot of words exchanged but the ninja had managed to get Fai to drink a glass of water and eat a few bites of oatmeal, which was an accomplishment.

For the most part Fai simple stared into the pool, hardly blinking.

Fai yawned. He was exhausted but was afraid to go to sleep.

As always the tile floor was unforgiving and so the mage had had to shift his positions several times in order to keep the blood flowing to all parts of his body. His latest position consisted of him resting his head in Kurogane's lap.

He liked how the ninja was running calloused hands over his scalp, and dragged them through the length of his hair. He hadn't bothered to tie it up so it was free for the first time in a long time. Fai was incredibly comfortable but he just couldn't let go and fall asleep… if he did he knew he was going to have night mares like he hadn't in a very very long time.

Eventually they went back to Kurogane's room and the ninja got Fai to drink some more water and they settled down on the bed. The blonde wasn't shy and curled up to Kurogane's side, pillowing his head on his chest and wrapping an arm around his waist. "Ne… Kurogane?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you… for being so… umm patient with me…"

Kurogane brought his arm up and wrapped it around Fai, leaning his cheek on the top of the blondes head. "Shut up idiot. Go to sleep."

Fai chuckled sadly. "I'm afraid that if I fall asleep I'll have a bad dream…" the ninja tightened his grip.

"Oi. I'll be here if you do. You can't stay up forever." The blonde snuggled closer and sighed, curling his fingers in the front of Kurogane's cloths. It took nearly four hours for Kurogane to feel his mages body relax completely and for his breathing to even out.

Worrying about him was exhausting but he didn't want to fall asleep incase Fai needed him, but he knew he wouldn't be much help if he was practically asleep on his feet. From years of training as a ninja, it wasn't hard for Kurogane to fall into a light sleep after nearly ten minutes.

He woke up every single time Fai shifted, sighed, or snuggled up in his sleep. He had found out while sharing a tent in Yama that his mage was a wiggle bug in his sleep. It wasn't like the blonde was tossing or turning, he would just move about once every twenty minutes, which normally wasn't enough to both the ninja, but he was trying to be extra vigilant and look for any signs of a nightmares.

When the sun was just barely starting to peek over the horizon Kurogane was stirred away again by a dampness on his shoulder. Ether Fai was drooling (its happened a few times on their travels) or crying in his sleep.

For the first time in his life, the ninja found himself hoping for drool… carefully he lifted his arm to discreetly check to see if Fai was crying and cursed silently when the smaller of the two woke up. Fai sat up and confusedly blinking his gold eye and Kurogane cursed again, this time out loud.

It wasn't tears or drool. It was blood.

"What the fuck happened to you?" before the ninja could move to inspect him for any injuries, Fai leaned over the side of the bed and emptied the contents of his mouth into the trash can, a mixture of saliva and blood.

"I… bit my cheek…" his mage lifted a pail hand up to cradle the side of his face and scrunched his eyes closed whining in a childish way before falling over in the bed.

"Why did you bite your cheek?" The ninja raised an eyebrow at the childish display but laid down as well. Cautiously he brought his hand up to cover Fai's and hoped it was a comforting gesture.

"I didn't try to… My fangs came out when I was sleeping." The blonde opened his eye and he knew right away that his mage needed blood. All that healing he had done had probably taxed his energy completely. Gold cat eyes were starring back at him with an exhausted expression.

Kurogane shifted and wrapped his arm around Fai and pulled the blonde so that he would have easy access to his neck. "When the wound closes drink. You used up all your strength yesterday."

His mage didn't say anything as he settled close, resting his head on the ninja's chest he nodded slowly and went back to cradling his cheek. They stayed like that for a while listening to the people bustle about in the hallway and their own breathing until Fai shifted so that his lips were pressed against Kurogane's neck.

"Are you still sore from your fight with Ciel?" He almost shivered when hot breath hit his skin.

"It was just a few bruises. I'm fine." Fai nodded again before shifting quickly so that his hips were straddling Kurogane's. His tongue darted out and slowly slid up his neck until he found were the vein was closest to the skin and his teeth replaced them, puncturing the skin.

He tensed at first but after a few second Kurogane relaxed as the overwhelming sensations that came with feedings flushed over him. He heard himself sigh deeply and he brought his hand up to cup the back of his mages head.

It was over all too soon. Fai licked the wound before shifting off and leaving Kurogane with a very needy arousal in his pants. His mage settled back down at his side using his chest as a pillow and they both tried to catch their breath.

Fucking grate.

This was really going to suck if it became the new normal… he knew Fai wanted to be held. Actually, he knew Fai needed to be held right now. But damn. It was really hard to ignore how if the blonde shifted his leg forward just a little bit it would create a wonderful friction, or how if he slid his hand down from where it had ended up resting on the small of his mages back, that he could grip his hip.

But this was the worst time to have sex on his mind. He would be no better than that priest pervert if he made a move on Fai when he was so emotionally vulnerable…

"A—are you all right?" the blonde's fingers tangled themselves again in the loose fabric of his shirt.

"Uh… yeah why?"

"You seem really tense… did I hurt you?" pail hands clenched even tighter.

"Course not. I already told you that it doesn't hurt for more than a few seconds…" Kurogane cleared his throat when Fai shifted again, this time brushing his manhood. "

"Then what's the matter?" his mage looked as if he were about to start crying when their eyes met. "Did I do something wrong?"

"No dammit… look this is kind of embarrassing…. I—uh… will you be ok if I go to the bathroom?" for the first time in a long time Kurogane found himself avoiding eye contact. He didn't want to freak the blond out by telling him that he was supper turned on right now… he didn't need that right now. But the ninja also had a policy against lying…

Just damn.

"Oh… yeah go ahead." Fai sat up to allow him up and Kurogane tucked himself into his waistband as discreetly as possible as he walked as calmly as he could to the bathroom and shut the door. Leaning against the wall he used the entirety of his mental capacity to tell his 'little buddy' to knock it the hell off because he was not, NOT, 'taking care of himself' right now.
