Hey guys, how's it going? Got to say, when I started writing this episode I was expecting a lot more material to pop out at me. I mean, love in Code Lyoko is usually golden to me. So much to mock! However, this episode was really, really well done here. I can completely understand Odd's feelings and can understand Jeremie's to a certain degree. And seeing how his friends even rip into him during the episode, I really couldn't do it again.

So I had to do what I could to make this a good episode for you guys. Sorry if this is too short for you guys, really I am. Review please so I can keep loving what I do as much as possible!

Episode 32: St. Valentine's Day

Xana watches a young man carefully. He sees the man turn around and his eyes glint with delight as he slowly glides across the floor towards him. He smashes himself against the man's face, coving it in a haze of black smoke that pries the man's mouth open. Xana forces himself inside the man, taking control of every muscle and nerve. He begins to laugh now and holds up a small piece of jewelry. It is a rather heavy pink stone meant to be worn as a necklace, and will possess anyone who wears it.

Aelita. Xana thinks, imagining the pink haired girl walking directly into the Schyphozoa's grasp. "Soon," he says out loud as he begins to drive to Kadic Academy. "I will be free!" Suddenly a thought strikes him. Wait, he thinks. How did I make this? How did I put myself inside of the stone? I mean, the stone is just that. A stone. It's not a computer, so I couldn't have stored myself in it and the warriors have clearly shown that they can't be possessed by me, so how is this supposed to work?

And for that matter, how did I create this in the first place? Was it already made and I possessed it? That doesn't make any sense if I possessed the rock, seeing how there is nothing to possess and the possession can't pass on to something else, making this entire scheme impossible and worthless!

Xana pulls out a gun and cocks it. Only one way to do this I suppose. He thinks grimly.

Seriously, how does this make sense? Please, somebody, tell me. Because I have no f***ing clue.

!

The man walks towards Kadic, package in hand. He comes up to the dorms and smiles, thinking that his plan will succeed. He leans towards the doors and pushes on them. The doors refuse to bend and Xana frowns slightly applying more force to the doors. He then rolls his eyes and smashes his way into the building. Instantly, alarms break off and the students snap out of their sleep. Xana growls in frustration as children begin to scream. As the police sirens grow louder and louder, Xana deactivates the tower, leaving the man to explain himself and retreats to Lyoko.

Did I really think, Xana yells to himself on Lyoko. That the building would just be unlocked? It's a school! They aren't just going to let anyone waltz on into the dorms in the middle of the night.

!

Yumi walks down the hallways of Kadic, heading for breakfast with her friends when she is suddenly attacked by Aelita. Yumi panics and lashes out, catching Aelita in the knee with a well placed kick. As Aelita crumples to the ground, Yumi bends down to help her, laughing slightly as she watches her friend. "Are you okay?" she asks in concern.

Aelita glares at Yumi, narrowing her lips until they are nearly white. Yumi chuckles nervously and Aelita leads her into the bathroom, holding a small necklace in her hand. "Yumi, I need you to help me with something." She demands.

"What is it?" Yumi asks curiously.

Aelita takes the necklace and holds it up so it catches the light. "Somebody gave this to me last night and I don't know why."

Yumi and Aelita examine the necklace in the bathroom before class begins. Yumi frowns contemplatively at the necklace before handing it back to Aelita. "Plain," she decides finally. "But not bad."

"But I wonder who gave it to me." Aelita asks excitedly. "And why."

"Why?" Yumi asks, smiling slightly. "I might have an idea. You know what day it is?"

"Umm.. Tuesday!" Aelita says brightly.

"Yes, but not just any Tuesday!" Yumi chuckles. "It's St. Valentine's Day! And I can guess exactly which boy might want to get you a present!"

"That's so great Yumi! Thank you!" Aelita says beaming happily. "But…"

"But what Aelita?" Yumi asks in concern.

"Well," Aelita says slowly. "I just feel like I should make sure, you know? Just in case Jeremie didn't get me this. I want to ask him if he gave me something for Valentine's Day."

"That sounds like a good idea." Yumi says after a moment's thought. "After all, if he didn't give it to you, you don't want to make him upset."

!

Odd, Ulrich and Jeremie walk from the dorms together to breakfast when Aelita runs up to them. She grins broadly at them and Jeremie instantly makes note of the large pink stone around her neck. Suspicions instantly spring up in his mind and he feels a slight twinge of jealousy as he thinks of who could have given it to her.

"Hey guys!" Aelita greats happily before turning to Jeremie. She opens her mouth but then narrows her eyes in confusion. Behind her she can hear birds chirping and she smiles as she feels the warm sun against her sun. Something about that fact makes her pause. She feels a wave of understanding rush over her and her eyes widen. She instantly whirls around, taking in as many details as she possibly can.

"Hey, are you okay Aelita?" Jeremie asks in concern, walking over to take her hand, which Aelita instantly yanks out of his grasp. Jeremie recoils slightly at her rejection and blushes slightly.

"No. Not really." Aelita says.

"Well, why not?" Odd asks.

"Well," Aelita says. "Valentine's Day is in February. The middle of February, right?" As everyone nods, she shakes her head and wets her lips before continuing. "I don't know a lot about France's weather patterns yet," she says. "But I do know that as a rule, unless you are right on the equator, Winter sucks balls temperature wise. But look at this! We have no snow, no ice, we can walk around in our summer clothes."

"Hey!" Ulrich exclaims. "You're right! Look!" Everyone looks over to where he is pointing and gasps.

"But- but that's impossible!" Jeremie stammers.

"It's winter!" Odd gasps. "How in the world?"

"The trees are still green!" Aelita shrieks. "That's impossible! We are in France! There is no way that this is the middle of winter!"

!

Now, some of you might be wondering something. Why am I not questioning Odd and Jeremie's fight?

That is a very good question and I feel like I should answer it here. After all, the fight takes a good chunk of the episode and yet, I don't think I make much note of it. And the reason is that I understand exactly what Odd is doing here. Jeremie is being incredibly overprotective of Aelita here and treating her like his property, instead of a regular human.

Odd finds this sort of behavior annoying. He thinks that it is stupid that Jeremie is freaking out over something so stupid and when Jeremie accuses him, you will notice that he answers him. He tells Jeremie that Aelita and him are supposed to be cousins. This implies that he didn't give her the necklace and he wouldn't have done that.

Odd wanted that to be the end of it, but when Jeremie gets all pissy about it, Odd gets angry at him, both for not believing him when he told him he didn't do it, and that Jeremie is accusing everyone, so he tells Jeremie to back off rather snarkily.

Notice that after they are sent out of the office, Odd even offers to just forget about the whole thing and just move on with their lives, but Jeremie spits on the offer and won't back down. This casues Odd to get more annoyed and just walk away.

Now, this is not mature. This is not responsible. In any way. However, I completely understand it and think it is a perfectly logical response for someone with Odd's personality traits. I should know firsthand why and how people do this. I do the same thing as Odd. You can argue that it is a bad thing, and I would tend to agree with you, but this is a reason for why he does what he does. It fits in with his established character and so I see no reason to talk about it in the episode, despite the fact that it takes a while to resolve in the episode.

Xana watches Aelita through the necklace. He sends a constant, steady stream of power into her over the course of the day, driving her further and further under his control. Finally, Aelita has to go to the bathroom and Xana seizes his chance. Sending his power through the necklace in one angry, uncontrolled burst, he feels Aelita crumple to the floor as his power overwhelms her and he takes control of her. As he shakily stands, he feels an intense pressure in Aelita's head and feels himself forcefully pushed out of Aelita and back inside of the necklace.

Aelita glares down at the piece of jewelry hanging around her neck and in one smooth movement, rips it from her neck and smashes it against the tiles of the bathroom floor. As Xana begins to be pulled to Lyoko as he no longer has a host, Aelita reaches out and grabs the smoke trail, using her own connection to Lyoko to hold him there.

"Listen Xana." She says angrily. "You will never possess me. I don't think you understand that. You already tried that shit before and guess what. It didn't work. Do you know why? Because I'm a God damned Lyoko Warrior, that's why. I'm stronger than you. Always have been. Always will be. So you'd better start realizing why we keep beating you dipshit. We have resisted you for years now. You found that out when you tried to possess Ulrich and Odd, and now you try me?" she laughs angrily.

"Learn a freaking lesson. Even if you managed to get yourself inside the necklace in the first place, you're forgetting that we have the power to resist your control here on Earth. How could you forget something like that? Gradual possession or no, it's the exact same concept. It will never work. Get used to it." Aelita releases Xana and watches as he is sucked back into Lyoko. She sighs and strides out of the bathroom feeling incredibly empowered. Time to go put Jeremie in his place, she thinks confidently as she walks down the hallway.

As he shakily stands, he looks at himself in the mirror. He can see the symbol of Lyoko flashing in her eyes and grimaces at the inhuman look it gives him. Or is it her now? Screw it, he decides, it's a him right now.

Hmmm. He thinks as he stares at the pulsating symbol. That is really obvious isn't it. He shrugs. Oh well, I suppose that it isn't a big deal. It's not like anybody actually looks at people's eyes in this world anyway, after all, the sign has been there since I started possessing people and nobody notices. I'm sure it'll be the same way now.

With that, Xana turns and strides confidently out of the bathroom. Now, he thinks devilishly. Time to put Blondie in his place.

As he shakily stands, and stumbles. He tries to stare at himself in the mirror and can't see himself. He fumbles around for another object and knocks his hand against the tap rather forcfully.

He finally forces his powers down and allows the girl to assert herself somewhat. At once he can see again and he breaths a sigh of relief. He stares at himself in the mirror again before Aelita regains complete control. Throwing Xana out of her she stands before the mirror and rips the necklace from her throat. Smashing it against the tile, she leans over the sink, breathing heavily before vomiting.

"At least I got rid of him." She says to herself. "It wasn't even that hard. Whenever his pupils turn from circles into the Xana signs, he can't see! He wouldn't be able to use me anyway! This is great!"

Let me explain. The normal pupil is circular and works with our specific eye to reflect light and form little upside down pictures that our brain then processes and flips right side up again. If your pupil suddenly morphs into a Xana symbol, that's going to bleed. A lot. It's also going to be agonizing for the host and Xana, which is why I chose not to do a scene on that, seeing how I try to keep this out of the dark and scary territory I could go into. Although if that's what you guys would like to see in a bonus episode or something, let me know.

Anyway, if the pupil changes into the symbol, light wouldn't be able to reflect correctly and we would be blind. If we weren't totally blind, we would be unable to function correctly and have incredibly blurry and screwed up vision. So, basically, Xana wouldn't be able to function in a human body at all since he wouldn't be able to see.

"I'm in complete control of one of the Lyoko Warriors! Now, what am I going to do?" he ponders this for a minute before grinning. "Well, obviously, I'm going to make some other things to put my power into. Then, I can just get the warriors to wear them and I can get every single one of them under my control! All it'll take is a little patience and BAM! All of them will be my slaves!"

Yep. It's that simple. Xana, you are now officially, the dumbest villain ever. Of all time.

"Right then." He says, striding off towards the factory. "It's time to put my plan into action. I'm not going to just wait around for the warriors to show up when I live in the computer. I know the codes for virtualization and I can just virtualize myself to Lyoko and run towards the Scyphozoa and I instantly win. Because let's face it," he says matter-of-factly. "I'm not all that great at acting human. The warriors are bound to catch on in about five minutes if I stay behind."

Xana would win instantly here as well. You see, Xana has great plans. Really, solid beginnings, but he just falls off the wagon around step two out of five. That's really annoying to see. He can win so often. Completely wipe out the warriors, but he chooses not to. This is one of the reasons I'm tempted to say the war is all a bet.

If the war was real, and they were really doing everything they could to win, Xana would have won years ago. But, if the war was all a bet, you would try and prolong it a little bit just to have fun with it. I know I would.

!

As Aelita feels herself being virtualized she feels Xana pulling himself from the necklace into her completely. Xana lands in Lyoko next to Yumi and hears Jeremie bring up the vehicles. He waits until Yumi is turned around before singing gently. Instantly a large hole opens up underneath Yumi and she falls down into the Digital Sea. A bright light explode from where the girl dropped down and Xana cheers at his victory.

Instantly he calls the Scyphozoa to his side and waits until the monster has the girl in its clutches before exiting the girl's body. He can hear Jeremie screaming from the factory and grins widely. As the monster finally drains Aelita of the last of her memories, Xana can feel the Key's to Lyoko sliding into his hands. With all four keys in his possession, he dives down into the Digital Sea, plunging beneath the surface.

He comes to the bottom of the sea, feeling the water rush over him, trying to erase him from existence, but the Keys protect his body from harm. He comes across the remaining fragments of Yumi and gathers them up, carrying them along with him to use for a later time if the need arises. As he comes across the gate that leads outside of Lyoko the Maker's presence brushes against his and he turns to see a large glowing pink and blue ball rocketing up towards where he left Aelita's lifeless body.

Xana rolls his eyes and uses the keys to open the gate, stepping outside of Lyoko for the first time. Dragging the fragmented parts of Yumi Ishiyama with him, he begins to make himself a new series of homes to help increase his power.

So yeah… that's pretty much what should have happened if Xana were smart. Aelita could kill Yumi and easily be taken over by the Scyphozoa. Then, Yumi would be dead and the Warriors would be down one warrior early into season 2. That would be a horrible loss and I think that ultimately, that would have made Xana win.

!

Odd stands, half frozen in the Ice sector as he watches Aelita willingly lose her memory to Xana. He begins to shoot her and Jeremie screams out life point totals. When Aelita is at 30 life points, he continues to shoot.

He shoots at her ten more times before she reaches ten life points. As the monster releases Aelita, Odd stares up at Jeremie. "How is that possible?" he asks.

"How is what possible Odd?"

"Well, I shot her about 15 times. How did that only take off about 20 points? Shouldn't she be dead right now?"

"Well, yes." Jeremie says. "But this worked in our favor, so I'm willing to overlook it."

Well, that's it. The end of the episode. I have to say, I feel really bad about this. The handled the episode really well, and I couldn't see a lot wrong with it. They also lampshaded everything else, so what I had to say would have just been rehashing the same point that they made.
