January 15th, 1995. Friday.

Selena copied down the notes from the board in History of Magic, her quill tracing the letters in smooth ink. Well, mostly. Her handwriting was slightly messy, full of splotches of ink from impatience that wasn't proper when one was using a feather quill. Glancing over at Renee, Selena found a single doodle of a bar of soap with a face. She stifled her giggle.

"Following the Soap Blizzard of 1378, the Wizarding World saw an economic bubble burst," Professor Binns continued. This was a lesson they'd learned last year, but were revising today.

Soon, the class was dismissed (which received a collective sigh from the students.)

Renee smiled as Selena waited on her, the Hogwarts corridors quickly filling with black-robed students. "So, want to go find Wendy?"

Selena grinned. Lately the two girls and Hazel had been watching (okay, spying on) Wendy and Draco - it was always surprising to see the two hold hands. "Yeah, I think Pansy Parkinson is ready to tear off Wendy's head."

Renee laughed. "I think Wendy will get to Avery before Pansy can lay a finger on her."

The walked out of Classroom 4F and down the first floor corridor, loud chatter filling up the air. Renee stopped without warning and grabbed Selena's arm tightly. "Sel, look!"

Selena glanced ahead to see Professor Moody mumbling to the Terrible Twins, no one else stopping to pay them attention. "What d'you reckon they're talking about?"

Renee shrugged. "Don't know, but get this - I heard from Peeves that Snape got robbed again right during the Yule Ball. He said he was going to wait for Snape and drop Dungbombs on him, but instead the door opened all by itself. Then bottles were floating in the air one second, and then they disappeared the next!"

Selena looked at her friend. "What? How is that possible? To do that, you would need a..." Then the dawned on her. The Invisibility Cloak! "Harry's cloak!" she hissed. "That's how! Alisson and I got caught, and Professor Moody confiscated the cloak. He planned to use it so no one could see him sneak into the potion cabinet to steal Polyjuice Potion ingredients!"

Renee bit her lip. "Okay, but how would he know what the spell to unlock the door was? It's locked with something specific."

Selena looked at the floor, shuffling her black bar shoes on the stone. "Maybe... maybe he used the cloak to stay hidden and snuck into Snape's office, found what password to use and then robbed the cabinet?"

Renee smiled. "There's only one way to settle this..."

Selena grinned back at her. "Snooping."

5 Hours Later

"Uh... S?" Selena guessed, biting into an apple.

She, Danny, Wendy, Renee and Alisson were playing Hangman with one of Fred and George's magic, reusable Hangman games, sitting in the bustling post-dinner Common Room.

Danny shook his head. "Nope." A little piece of chalk wrote an 'S' onto the board beside a T, U, K, and L. The white chalk sat itself back down, and waited.

The little hangman looked at them, waving his arms angrily. "C'mon!" The tiny executioner near him took a step closer. He had three miniature steps before he hung the hangman. Then, after a minute or two, the game would appear all new. Elizabeth had refused to play, calling it barbarous.

Selena looked at the board, trying to decipher what the word was. The only letters confirmed so far were: A_ _ _ Y. What is it?

Wendy looked at the letters, then glared at Danny. "Avery?" she asked drily.

Danny blushed and nodded as the board erased itself. The executioner took his steps back to ten paces and the hangman sighed in relief.

They played two more rounds, both of which they lost. The little hangman glared at Renee. "It was an B! It was your turn and the word was Bird! Bird doesn't have an F!" he had screamed in a voice surprisingly furious for such a dainty game.

Renee sighed and stood up when their last turn ended. "I'll be right back."

"Where are you going" Selena asked.

"To talk to Fred and George," Renee replied and walked towards the ginger twins in the corner.

Wendy shrugged.

Selena smiled sneakily at her. "So, Wendy... I hear you and Draco are dating?"

Danny looked up from his sugared roll, having brought some from dinner. "Wot?"

Wendy stared at Selena, firelight flickering over her face. Her expression didn't betray anything Selena could easily read. "How do you know that?"

"It's true? Is that why you were avoiding me and Avery at the Yule Ball?" Danny asked, glancing at her.

Wendy's look this time clearly said yes, but I was avoiding Avery more than you!

Selena looked between them.

"Yes, I suppose I should tell you. We are dating," Wendy said bitterly, avoiding Danny's question.

"How could you date him? He's a twit! Always acting superior! And you have Muggle parents! He hates that! How could he like you?" Danny said in a rush, his words even making Selena cringe. Did he have any idea how insensitive he sounded? She knew he wasn't trying to insult Wendy, but it sure ended up sounding that way.

Wendy swiveled her head, glaring at him. "He actually noticed I fancied him. And besides, you're one to judge, considering who you're dating," she hissed and got up, leaving the Common Room.

"Way to go, Romeo," Alisson said from her place beside Selena.

"What's her problem?" Danny remarked, his Irish accent thicker, brows knit. "If I didn't know better, I'd say she hates Avery."

Alisson and Selena looked at each other and then back at Danny. His brown eyes widened.

"No... she doesn't hate her - right?" he asked desperately.

"Danny, I'm surprised it's taken you this long," Alisson replied.

Selena nodded. "I have to agree. We've known ever since you and Avery started dating that Wendy's been jealous. You've just been so absorbed in focusing on your girlfriend... Wendy feels left out."

Alisson nodded in agreement. "And out of everything in that conversation, and what you said to Wendy, all you can still think about is Avery."

That Night

"Okay, how do we get through to Moody's office from here? There must be a dozen prefects out in the hall!" Selena whispered. She held her wand, tip lit up and glowing brightly, once again wearing her slippers and robe. Renee was dressed in a similar fashion, her wand with the Wand-Lighting Charm as well.

"I already thought ahead of you!" Renee replied quietly. She dipped her hand into her robe pocket and pulled out three fake banshees from her pocket, each one a little smaller than her forearm. They were a joke from Zonko's, the banshees being fake banshees that began screaming and flew around once you threw them.

"When did you-? How did you-?" Selena stuttered. Zonko's Joke Shop was in Hogsmeade, had Renee sneak off there at some point as well?

Renee grinned. "Fred and George. What, you thought I went over to talk to them about the weather? No, I had to get these."

Selena smiled. "Renee, this is brilliant!"

Renee smiled back. "I know!" She glanced down the corridor as they heard footsteps. "We have to get behind that pillar, and then we can run!"

Selena nodded. "I still can't believe we're doing this!"

Little did they know of the person standing behind them until they spoke. "Neither. Do. I."

Selena froze, and then turned around to find someone she hadn't wanted to see right behind her and Renee.

Ooh! Cliff-hanger!

I know, short chappie, but I was going to make it longer until I thought of this line, so I'm going to cut it short and just continue it into another chapter to make it twice as long!

Anyway, I do need your person's favorite smells for the potion and um - yeah. And I realize that at Hogwarts, a "flashlight" is called a "torch" because of where they are, but it wasn't exactly in the speech, so I just didn't include it. BUT, I will next chapter.

Now, any guesses on who is behind them? I give you a hint like in hangman: - _!

If you guess correctly, you get the chapter a day early. If no one does, I update it tomorrow. But, if you can guess it, you get it today. Sound good? Yay! Happy guessing!

AND PLEASE TAKE MY POLL! I'm really excited to see everything, since I've only had 3 voters so far.

But yeah... Oh! And the idea of Avery getting the punch spilled on her was inspiration from PerriwinklePadfoot by her saying "to the ball and have a merry time watching Wendy shove Avery's head in the punch bowl." in one review. SO THANKS!

And I'm going to be doing something new. Since I love the reviews SO much and you guys are just such amazing readers, I'm going to give thanks to each reader after the chapter for reviewing the past one!

So, for reviewing chapter 45, thanks to:

So, thanks guys! And thanks to jessie10597230 for reviewing all the chapters up until 35 all in one night.

Well, thanks for reading the chapter and review and guess too?

5/23/17: What even was that hangman hint supposed to be? XD

5/25/17: And that comment about the flashlight/torch was because Selena carried a flashlight/torch in the chapter originally. Apparently Past Me had forgotten that they went to a WIZARDING SCHOOL WITH A SPELL THAT LIGHTS UP THEIR WAND!
