Chapter 33
On Monday morning, Dave prowled through the corridors of McKinley High with a noticeable air of confidence about him. It wasn't the cocky and threatening confidence he'd worn during his bullying days. It was something different, something new. Not too dissimilar to Quinn's re-found confidence when she was back in her Cheerio uniform after her pregnancy. As he moved through the school, Dave's fresh attitude certainly turned heads. Not too long ago, the feel of people's stares as they whispered to one another would have made him retreat into himself, wanting to run away and hide. But now their looks and whispers only served to make him stand a fraction taller as his lips quirked into a handsome smile while he seemingly moved in slow-motion.
A jock stalked through the halls from the opposite side of the corridor. His features were formed into a sneer and there was nothing at all friendly about his demeanour. Filled with confidence, Dave smirked (almost Sebastian-like) as he determinedly walked to meet the jock. The surrounding students all waited with bated breath, expecting a confrontation.
The two boys came to a standstill as they met halfway through the corridor. Dave was taller and looked down at the jock with a pleasant smile. The other boy opened his mouth to say something and Dave quirked an eyebrow like Kurt would do as he waited expectantly for some kind of insult.
"Something you wanna say, sweetheart?" Dave asked. He wasn't sure what inspired him to make use of the word 'sweetheart' but the resulting expression on the boy's face certainly made it worth it. "Well?" Dave prompted when the other boy made no retort.
The other teen ducked his head, dropping his gaze, and stepped aside leaving the way clear for Dave. Grinning, Dave walked on, meeting Puck at his locker and giving him a one-armed hug by way of greeting.
"Dave Karofsky, check you out," Santana commented coming up behind the pair.
"What?" Dave asked turning to face her.
"Your Auntie Tana knows sexy when she sees it," she claimed. "And damn, I'm sure as hell looking at it right now. It's this new found confidence you've got going on," she told him. "Makes you very fuckable. If I wasn't a lesbian I would totally be dragging you into a Janitor's Closet right now. Yay!" she applauded before turning on her heel and strutting off, her ponytail swishing with her movement.
"What?" Dave repeated looking to Puck for an explanation.
"Santana Lopez has officially declared you sexy," Puck said slinging an arm across his friend's shoulders. "Take it for the high compliment it is, dude."
"Hello boys," Kurt greeted as he approached them carrying the books he needed for his first lesson.
"Hey, babe," Puck replied moving in for a kiss, carrying Kurt's books for him by the time the kiss ended.
The three teen boys proceeded to make their way to class, Dave's entire being still buzzing with self-assurance. Along the way, Dave caught eye-contact with his ex-best-friend, Azimio. They hadn't exchanged a single word since Dave had been outed. But now, as Dave strutted along with Puck and Kurt, proudly representing Team Gay, Azimio gave him a subtle nod of acknowledgement and Dave repaid in kind before sitting down to his first lesson of the day.

During a free period, Sebastian busied himself with an assignment in the library. He was seated at a table alone, poring over a textbook and scribbling away in his notebook. While he was fully concentrating on his work, it proved to be a great distraction. Then as he collected his things together and walked through the halls of Dalton Academy to his next class, with his distraction gone, his mind was consumed with the disappointment and resentment he felt towards his father.
At lunch, he joined a table full of Warblers and his peers all seemed to be talking about their fathers. He kept his head down, almost stabbing at his food as they conversed around him.
"I finally managed to get an A in math," Thad stated happily. "I've just been getting Bs for the past two semesters but at last I've managed to get that A. I was so excited I just had to call my dad right away. He was so proud and he's promised to take time off work this weekend so we can do something together to celebrate."
"My dad actually got really emotional with me when I went home this weekend," Jeff said.
"Of course, it was your grandpa's funeral this weekend," Nick recalled. "Are you ok?" he asked sympathetically.
"I'm fine," Jeff replied. "The funeral was… well, I'd never been to one before so I didn't really know what to expect. But afterwards my dad and I sat down together and just talked all night. He even let me drink some of his scotch. We had a real heart to heart and he told me there were so many things he wished he's said to grandpa and that he wished grandpa would have said to him. Then he said he didn't want to have any regrets like that with me. He told me he loved me and that he misses the way I used to run up and jump in his arms for a hug when I was a kid. I told him that I just want to make him proud and that I worry that he thinks I'm a disappointment. But he said I could never disappoint him. I think our relationship is just going to get stronger."
"That's great," Nick smiled at his friend. "And my birthday is coming up in two months and my dad has totally promised me a car," he revealed. "We're going to find an old classic car and spend the weekends fixing it up together."
"Well my dad…" Trent began and Sebastian threw his fork down in frustration.
"Would you all just shut the fuck up," Sebastian huffed and the boys all turned to stare at him.
"Sebastian, just relax," Nick said.
"Yeah, man, calm down," piped up Dean.
"What's your problem?" Thad asked looking at Sebastian with disapproval.
"Is something wrong?" Trent asked gently.
"What could possibly be wrong?" Sebastian asked through gritted teeth. "You're all a bunch of daddy's boys, I get it. Well, good for you. But please, keep the touching father/son stories to yourselves; you're all making me feel sick."
"No need to be so rude," Thad mumbled.
"You know what, Thad, you really need to go and fuck yourself," Sebastian told him. "Because you sure as hell will never find somebody else willing to do it."
"Come on, Sebastian, don't be such a jerk," Jeff said defensively.
"Maybe I'll stop being a jerk when you stop being so… blonde," Sebastian retorted lamely before abandoning his food and stalking off.
"Asshole," Thad commented when Sebastian was out of earshot. "What's his problem anyway?"
"Obviously he isn't as fortunate as the rest of us and doesn't have a good relationship with his father," Trent defended. "Just give the guy a break."
"I'd like to break his face," Thad muttered.
"You know," Trent said standing up. "You really should go and fuck yourself, Thad."
He left the lunch room and found Sebastian sitting on the concrete steps that led up to the entrance doors of the school.
"Do you need to talk?" Trent asked sitting down beside Sebastian.
"Talking's for lesbians," Sebastian sneered and Trent rolled his eyes.
"You need to work on your behaviour and attitude," Trent lectured. "I can tell you're upset right now but taking it out on the rest of us isn't going to help matters. If you continue to treat your friends that way you'll only end up alienating them."
"Those losers aren't my friends," Sebastian retaliated. "I'm arrogant, I'm perverted and when it comes down to it I'm just not that nice. People hate me and I hate them right back. It's pretty much always been that way until Princess Hummel came along," he glanced down at the friendship bracelet on his wrist.
"Well I'm your friend too," Trent said. "Or at least I try to be. But you don't make it easy."
Sebastian didn't respond.
"I don't mean to pry," Trent said softly. "But I'm guessing things aren't as good as you'd like them to be at home."
Sebastian remained silent.
"It's a difficult relationship you have with your dad, isn't it?" Trent guessed.
Sebastian offered no reply.
"Look, if you ever want to talk, I'm here for you," Trent told him. "But you can't continue to bottle these negative feelings up and take them out on the rest of us. You need to confront these feelings, sing about them maybe, talk to your dad and try and work things out before you end up regretting it."
"Can you go away now?" Sebastian asked.
"Can you pull your head out of your backside and stop being so hostile and ungrateful?" Trent asked and Sebastian's lips twitched into a half smile, impressed by Trent's sassy retort.
"You're a good guy, Trent," Sebastian said. "Try to remember that next time I behave like a dick and insult you."
"Where are you going?" Trent asked when Sebastian started walking away from the school. "We have class in ten minutes."
"I figured I'd take a walk," Sebastian called back over his shoulder.
"No," Trent denied catching up to the other boy and taking hold of his arm. "School is important. You're going to attend class, be respectful to the teacher, diligently take notes and just generally be a good boy."
"That sounds incredibly boring," Sebastian protested as Trent dragged him back into the school.
"It may sound boring but ultimately it is the smarter decision, I'm right, you're wrong, accept it," Trent said.
So Sebastian behaved himself and attended the rest of his classes along with Lacrosse practice, his entire face lighting up into a smile when he saw that Dave, Puck and Kurt had come along to watch.
"I thought you said Bas is upset or something," Puck said from where he sat watching the practice. "He looks alright to me."
"That's because he's in the middle of a Lacrosse game," Dave pointed out. "If you were upset over something you'd forget about it for a while if you were playing Football."
"I guess," Puck shrugged. "So what's up with him?"
"I'm not sure," Dave answered as he watched his boyfriend run across the field.
"I think I know," Kurt voiced and the other two looked to him expectantly for an elaboration. "His dad was supposed to pick him up but he never did. His mum came instead."
"That's probably it," Dave said. "He doesn't talk about his dad much but when he does… I don't know. He gets kinda weird and sorta guarded."
"So his old man's a douche bag?" Puck asked.
"Pretty much," Dave replied.
"More interested in his career than Sebastian," Kurt supplied. "It upsets him. More than he's willing to admit."
"We need to cheer him up," Dave said.
"We could order Chinese food and watch movies," Kurt suggested.
"Then Dave could give him a blow-job," Puck added. "Every guy feels better after a blow-job, that's a fact."

After finishing up, Sebastian jogged over to the other three. He ruffled Puck's mohawk, pressed a kiss to Kurt's cheek, then straddled Dave's lap and writhed against him as he plunged his tongue into his mouth.
"Someone's happy to see me," Dave commented.
"Always," Sebastian replied.
"Please don't fornicate right in front of me," Kurt begged.
"You're such a virgin," Sebastian teased affectionately. "You really need to take care of that Puckerman. I have a suspicion that the Princess will be even more fun to play with once he's been suitably corrupted."
"Whenever Kurt's ready," Puck responded wrapping his arms around the slender boy and giving him a slow and unhurried kiss.
"I'm ready," Kurt said against Puck's lips. "You know I am. I just want it to be just us, no parents or cock-blocking siblings in the house and no perverted Meerkats trying to film us or join in."
"Kurt, that's mean," Sebastian stated completely straight-faced.
"Seriously, baby, are you ok?" Dave asked his boyfriend, his hands cupping the other boy's ass. "From all your texts it seems like you're angry and upset."
"No more than usual," Sebastian shrugged.
"Come on, Bas, talk to me," Dave encouraged.
"It's nothing," Sebastian mumbled.
"Sebastian," Dave said sternly. "Don't lie to me and don't shut me out."
"Sorry," Sebastian apologised quietly. "The whole feelings and emotions thing still freaks me out a little."
Dave kissed him and squeezed his hands in his own before standing them both up.
"Kurt suggested movies and Chinese food," Dave said. "You up for it?" he asked the Dalton student.
"Yeah," Sebastian nodded. "I'd like that. Come on guys," he added to Kurt and Puck before leading the way to his dorm room.

Up in Sebastian's dorm room, the four boys had some movie playing in the background that they weren't really paying attention to as they ate their Chinese food. Sebastian confided in them about the on-going issues with his father. Puck shared derogatory stories about his old man. Dave brought up the subject of his mother while Kurt shuddered in horror over the outfit Rachel had worn to school that day.
"It's getting late," Kurt observed. "We really ought to be heading back to Lima soon."
"Screw that," Puck commented. "Let's just spend the night here and we'll get up really early and drive back tomorrow."
"Are you insane?" Kurt asked. "My dad will kill. Plus it's a school night."
"But Bas is still upset," Puck pointed out draping an arm across Sebastian's shoulders. "We need to cheer him up some more. Look at this little Meerkat face," he said pinching one of Sebastian's cheeks. "We can't just leave. We need to have a girly sleepover but with dudes instead of chicks."
"And absolutely no Twilight," Sebastian added.
"But my dad…" Kurt tried to say.
"Burt doesn't need to know," Dave said. "Just say you're staying at Rachel's."
"I couldn't, Finn would know," Kurt replied.
"So say you're staying at Tina's," Puck advised. "She's cool, she'd cover for you."
"But…" Kurt made to argue again.
"Please Princess," Sebastian begged batting his eyelashes. "For me," he pouted.
"You look ridiculous," Kurt told him.
"But you love me," Sebastian said crawling across the bed to straddle Kurt's lap. He pressed a firm kiss to Kurt's cheek. "I'm your bestie," he pressed his lips to Kurt's forehead. "You're my Princess," he continued kissing Kurt's other cheek. "I'm your Meerkat," he placed a wet kiss to Kurt's neck. "You can't leave me to spend the night alone when I'm upset."
"But…" Kurt tried and Puck and Dave swooped in.
"Come on, Kurt," Dave begged scooting to sit behind him and locking his arms around his slim waist.
"It won't be any fun without you," Puck added with a kiss to the corner of Kurt's mouth.
"What if my dad finds out? What if we get caught? What if we don't make it to school on time tomorrow?" Kurt asked frantically.
"Babe, relax," Puck soothed. "Everything will be cool, I promise. When am I ever wrong?"
"Every time you answer a question in History class," Kurt responded.
"History's for suckers," Puck shrugged. "But come on, stay. It'll be fun."
"It would really make me feel better," Sebastian said.
"Please Kurt," Dave asked squeezing him from behind.
"I'm probably going to regret this," Kurt sighed. "But ok," he agreed and the other three crushed him into a suffocating hug.
"Thanks, Kurt," Dave gushed.
"You're awesome, babe," Puck told him.
"You're almost as attractive as I am," Sebastian commented.
"Can't… breathe," Kurt complained and the other three released him. "Ok, ok, I guess I'll call my dad and say I'm spending the night at Tina's. Of course he'll probably see right through my lie and I'll end up grounded until I graduate."
"Well if that happens at least its all for a good cause… me," Sebastian grinned.

As it happened, Burt didn't believe Kurt when he said he was spending the night at Tina's. So he got Tina's number from Finn and phoned the girl himself. She insisted that Kurt was indeed staying at her house but Burt didn't believe her and asked to speak to her parents but ended up speaking to Tina attempting to imitate her mother's voice. He knew Kurt was not spending the night at Tina's and guessed he was probably in the company of Puck, Dave and Sebastian. Carole told him to calm down and assured him that Kurt was sensible and would be safe so they should just deal with things when he returned home.
The following morning, Kurt, Dave and Puck were indeed late to school. Then when Kurt arrived home, his dad was waiting for him with a disappointed expression and a lecture. He was also grounded for the week.
