The History of Marron
Chapter 37: Bless You
A/N: 2nd flashback
Time, he had no sense of it. How many days? Weeks? Months? Hell, even years has it been when he was once a normal boy? He didn't know and felt like he will never know the answer. Had his incoming birthday pass? Was he already six or older? His ageless body couldn't provide him with an answer.
He was afraid…no that was too small of a word to describe how he felt, he was petrified. He was now a monster, having been robbed of his humanity and turned into something part machine part human. Created to obliterate. He was slowly losing his mind trying to grasp at any old memories that seemed to have floated deep into the depths of his brain. He could barely remember his real name as the doctor drilled into that it was Kid. Was it Max Hanks? Well Max? It pained his brain to reach out to his past as it was locked away and the key was long lost, he was only able to grasp what his hands could reach. One thing he couldn't find himself to forger at all was his mother, she was a beautiful blonde woman with blue eyes and he knew she was waiting for him.
"Wake up kid."
His eyes opened at the command. He despised being shut off as he was just stuck in a world full of darkness and memories his brain couldn't fully remember. His blue eyes stared at the old man that called himself his creator before eyeing his surroundings, familiarizing himself with colors (having it forgot what it looked like after being surrounded in darkness for who knows how long) and the machines around him.
He knew he was standing in his little oval coffin that had the name Kid inscribed in the metal lid.
"No funny business this time," the doctor muttered to Kid.
Kid himself could barely remember the incident in which the doctor was refereeing to, most likely because his memories had been wiped, but the thing about the technology of wiping memories is that small residues or snippets managed to remain, it can drive you crazy trying to remember it all, but you still know it happened once upon a time.
He could only faintly remember trying to escape once again by killing the man who granted him this immense amount of power and strength.
"Right?"
Kid stopped eyeing the door, the door he felt would lead him to freedom. Kid comprehend how this mand was still standing here alive, he had the power to stop a moving car with a finger, yet he could kill this weak lunatic old man.
He began to dig through his brain trying to figure out what always stopped him from killing this guy, then an image of a remote appeared in his head.
"Yes sir," he responded to the doctor in a monotone voice as his eyes searched for the remote on his person. It took him no longer than a second to see the remote in his left hand. The very device that made his immense strength look like child's play. If he could destroy that remote he could finally seek his freedom and search for his mother, because he felt that the faint memories of her was the only thing keeping him sane.
"Now slowly come out," the doctor commanded.
Kid found himself obeying the man's order as he grasped the sides for support of this coffin like box that had become his home as he emerged.
He eyed the remote through side glances, so the doctor wouldn't notice his intentions as he was guided onto a long cold metal table.
A quick memory flashed through his head, he remembered how much he had fought yet struggled to get away when he was first captured. And by this quick flash of memory he found the structure of this room a bit different. Had they moved locations? He couldn't tell for sure. What happened to those other coffins he had saw? were there people just like him in there?
"I've installed a new program into your brain that should be coursing through your musculatory and circulatory system. This should allow you and whatever you hold to grow in size, larger than a regular person, I'll say nine feet."
He barely paid attention to the old man's words, just the movements he made as he described his new power. Hoping the remote would slip from his hand and he would get him in a headlock and crush the remote.
"The downside about it is that you have to sneeze, I felt it was such a hassle for you to power it up if you were in a bind."
Again, he didn't really care to listen to the man chatter on, he always found it idiotic for him to tell him about the new powers he had gained as he could've used it against him, but that remote always seemed to stop him from using it against him. That remote controlled his very veins and commanded them to stop moving.
As he took his eyes away from the doctor he saw the small metal table that was always filled with sharp tools, but this time he saw only a feather and if he had heard a good gist of what that man said he could make his great escape while making this building tumble to pieces. He needed to be discrete yet act quickly, one press of a button and he was done for. He would be shut off and be placed back in that box.
He couldn't be shut off again, it was like he was in an endless nightmare where time didn't exist and he yearned to be awake. The old man probably thinking Kid wouldn't rebel again because he wouldn't want a repeat of being shut off foolishly left the feather there, it was very hazardous if the info he told Kid was true.
As the old man began to put his hand down Kid got up and kicked the remote out of his hand before reaching for the feather, tickling his nose with the ticklish item. He sneezed in a matter of seconds just as the doctor fumbled to retrieve the remote.
Kid felt his body react, his muscles burned as they began to rearrange themselves. He opened his eyes he hadn't known he had closed to realize the room was still intact and that his surroundings felt bigger. He examined his body to see it had did the opposite of what the doctor said it was going to do, he shrunk instead of growing. He didn't let this huge mishap faze him, he saw the door and with his new tiny body he could slip through the small opening and still make his great escape. He began running towards freedom, though it seemed like it would take him centuries to get there he wasn't going to give up when he felt so close.
His nose began to burn thanks to rubbing the feather in his nostrils and he felt another sneeze coming and before he knew it he was back to his regular size, his body barely to the door.
He didn't dare turn around to face the now laughing doctor but lunged for the door, but of course his taste of freedom was short lived as his veins constricted themselves and his body stop moving on his own command.
"Man, you are full of surprises Kid," he heard the doctor mutter and he didn't even have to turn around to know that he had a wide grin on his face.
Kid's body turned and began making his way towards the doctor and once he was in reach the doctor grabbed his face and squished his cheeks together.
"You know as a scientist they get pretty irritated when they mess up but they keep on trying. I guess this new power slip up was a good thing. Or I wouldn't have been able to awaken your brethren's to kill Son Goku," he paused, "but just so you know this power may have seemed great but it's filled with so many flaws, it only last three minutes but it's not a guarantee if you sneeze, if you sneeze you go back to your normal size before the three minutes are up," he laughed.
He let go off his cheeks and pushed him aside.
"I guess I'll have to fix this error later, so it's time for you to go back to sleep."
Kid tried to resist, attempted again to get the remote out of his hands, he couldn't go back into nothingness, he couldn't go back facing those nightmares that were slowly driving him insane. But his veins had a prickly feeling as though he was being poked by a thousand needles each time he tried to even lift a finger.
He was pushed back in the coffin with the velvety cushions. The last words he heard from the doctor's mouth before his words were muffled by the closed door was that he had to awaken his brethren 17 and 18. Then his systems shut off and he was succumbed to darkness.
Dr. Gero brushed himself off, still a bit shocked at the child who had tried to rebel against him. It had been so many years since he had captured that child, yet he still had the will to leave and some memories of his past. The child had to be in his twenties now, yet he still looked like a five year old. Well he had no problem with that, the child has one purpose and one purpose only, to kill Son Goku if those twin androids failed, it was a mission he etched into the boy's brain.
"Computer," he commanded the machine above the coffin of where the child slept, the computer that took in data of all the battles he had his little lady bug spy over and analyze to provide this child the immense strength he needed to destroy Son Goku and whoever was in his way of eradicating that pesky spiky haired man.
"Continue to analyze the fights and strengthen his power," Dr. Gero said as he made his leave, turning off the lights to this secluded lab he hid far away from his other one and exited. Ready to activate the twins and come back to perfect the child.
