Snow White

Roderich had seriously considered it.

The theatre hall wasn't too far away, and he had a lot of time to study the role of the young Jewish boy caught in the war. Not to mention that Roderich was in fact Jewish and already knew quite a bit about the religion. He also knew a lot about the struggles the Jewish people, as well as quite a few others, had to go through within the time period. He knew about the unhealthy living styles and clothing and attitudes and how everyone seemed to be broken.

But he was absolutely terrified of playing this role. He was in fact Jewish, a young boy, and already had quite a few restrictions on his daily life due to his health. If he got too into the role, he might begin imaging the actual oppressors, with their bright red bands strapped to their left arms, gleaming rifles and hard caps and all.

So, he debated it for a long time. It wasn't until he told his father that he actually made a decision.

"My boy, don't let fear stop you from doing things you love," Herr Edelstein said. "Maybe, if you are scared, try to put yourself in a position which lessens that fear. If you think your body can't handle so much work, pace yourself, try not overdo it. If you're scared of practicing so much that you can't see reality from fantasy, choose specific times to practice, and somewhere where you know there's no possible way what you're acting out it real. Like the meadow perhaps. I do agree, it's a terrifying role. But I have seen much potential in you, and I don't think you should hold yourself back from this. Instead, I'd like you to try. It doesn't mean you will make it. It doesn't mean you have to do everything perfectly and accordingly. And it doesn't mean you can't bail. But trying is all I expect from you."

And so, Roderich decided he'd practice the role.

The next day, after that particular conversation with his father, Roderich travelled to Gilbert's house with Baldwin.

"Gilbert, Roderich's visiting!"

Gilbert rushed to the front door, seeing Roderich dressed in the same type of clothes he wore at show and tell, only... less fancy. Strangely, more ragged and dirty. Not very suiting Gilbert's general image of Roderich at all.

"Gilbert, I have a request. Could we go to the meadow?"

"Oh, uh, sure!"

Gilbert didn't expect this, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. He was once again taken away by Roderich's performance.
