A/N: Eight months and two weeks since the last chapter. One guest mentioned that the last chapter seemed rush and I'll apologize if it did, I've been so busy and balancing this can get the writing a bit mucky. However, this chapter is very important to me so I made sure that it suites this series.

Happy Ending
Jane's POV
"I don't think I can eat anymore," Kris mumbled.
"I can," Gabriella replied with Ma sliding a plate of cake.
"So can we," Aly piped while her brother, Liam stuffed his face with cake.
"William," Maura scolded as we watched him stuff his face. William stopped in mid chew with his wide hazel eyes looking up at Maura. "Chew slowly," she told him.
"Yes Mommy."
I chuckled at the two while Maura took a seat next to me. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as she laid her head on my shoulder. "I'm exhausted," my wife mumbled to me.
"So am I," I replied.
We had endured a huge baby shower. Literally, everyone from both sides of the family, Gabriella's family, Headquarters, and the hospital joined us to celebrate the arrival of the new addition. It was overwhelming but I could tell that Kris and Gabriella were enjoying it.
Kris and Gabriella sat next to each other with Kris resting her head by Gabriella's baby bump.
Speaking about Gabriella, she looked like she was ready to pop. She had about two more weeks but the baby was due any day with anticipation. Kris and her decided the gender would be a surprise for themselves and the family, making the office pool very large.
Maura didn't approve it and I expect Kris to rip the team a new one but she joined in. Maura wondered why would she join it one evening and all Kris did was glance up from her book with her reading glasses peering over her nose as she replied, "It's karma for starting the pool when the twins were almost born."
"I'm going to head back to the house, get these last two items in the baby's room," Gabriella gestured to the pile of clothes and the stuff Red Sox teddy bear on the table.
"You need help," Kris yawned, sitting up but Gabriella shook her head.
Ma stepped forward after cleaning her hands and replied, "I'll help you, Gabby. You rest, Krislyn. You worked yourself to the bone."
"Thanks, Nonna," Kris retorted as she sunk her head back on the sofa, making Maura and I laugh.
That was also a new development. Kris and Gabriella moved into the guesthouse while Ma took the apartment. Kris explained that with the baby, they needed a bigger space and she figured that having us next door was nice and convenient. They moved in about five months ago and it was great.
I looked at Maura then back at Kris as I asked, "Can you believe that we're going to be grandparents?"
Maura shook her head and answered, "Not really but it reminds me I'm getting old."
I turned my head. "You still look beautiful to me," I expressed softly.
Maura smiled, lifting her head off my shoulder and kissing my lips gently. "I love you," she whispered.
"I love you too."
"Ew," I heard Aly and Liam say in unison.
Maura pulled back and smirked, looking at the two pointedly, "You two need to get ready for bed."
"But Mommy," Liam groaned.
"No buts."
"Kris is staying up," Aly argued.
Maura crossed her arms over her chest and replied, "Kris is also in her twenties, young lady. You are below the age of ten."
"But…"
"Alessa," I said sternly, making Aly look at me. "Get ready for bed."
Aly glanced at Liam then sighed, "Yes Mama." She then stomped over, kissed my cheek then ran up the staircase with Liam after her.
Maura sighed, rubbing her forehead. "Your daughter," I informed her.
"Your daughter as well," I retorted. I then looked back at Kris, seeing her face first into the sofa. I shook my head and whispered, "Someone's got to move her."
"You can always try," Maura giggled as she stood up from the sofa and began to walk upstairs. "I'll meet you upstairs."
I nodded then looked back at Kris. "To throw water on you or not. That's the question," I said aloud.
"You know I'm asleep not dead," Kris mumbled, lifting her head up with a tired expression.
I smirked, standing up from my seat as she lowered her head back down on the sofa. I crouched down and retorted, "Really? I didn't notice."
"I can hear the sarcasm, Ma."
"You're supposed to," I replied as I dog piled on top of Kris.
"Ah Jane!"
"Gotcha Kiddo," I laughed, tickling her.
"Mercy! You love me!"
"Always will!"
Gabriella's POV- Hour later
"I was wondering when you would join me," I smiled when Kris entered the bedroom.
"Ma was on top of me, tickling me," Kris replied as she walked toward the walk-in closet.
I giggled, "Who won?"
"Neither. Jo Friday decided to jump right on top of us and start licking our faces."
"Old Jo?"
"She maybe old but that dog still can do stunts like she was still young." Kris then reappeared in an old Red Sox t-shirt and pajamas pants. She slipped into bed, scooting closer to me and wrapped her arm around me. I leaned in, resting my head on her shoulder while she asked, "What were you reading?"
I glanced down and realized that I still had my book in my lap. I lifted it up and showed the cover, Kris looked down with her eyes squinting before I gestured for her to get her glasses. She leaned over and grabbed her glasses, placing them then looked back to read the cover. "Oh, a book about how to handle child labor," she read. She took the book and ran her finger through the pages, "Did Maura give this to you?"
"Angela did."
"Ah," Kris chuckled.
"I know what's going to happen. You know I had a OB-GYN rotation but, she was like it's not the same especially when I'm in the seat."
"At least, you know what will happen." I nodded in agreement and closed my eyes briefly until I felt a harsh kick. I jumped slightly and cringed while Kris asked in worry, "You okay?"
I hissed and replied, "Definitely, your child."
"Sorry," Kris laughed, kissing my cheek softly.
"It's all right." Kris then pulled back, resting back on her side of the bed. She then leaned over, picking up her own book. I took in the sight of my wife and remembered that the last couple of days she awoke abruptly. She would then retreat to her desk in the far corner of the room, turning the lamp on as well.
Usually it meant something was bothering her but whatever it was, she wasn't going to tell me. "Something's on your mind," Kris asked suddenly.
I looked over to see Kris' attention was still focused on her book. I bit my lower lip then answered, "I know you've been waking up in the middle of the night." Kris stopped reading at this and placed the book down to look at me. She removed her glasses and I took her hands as I asked, "What's bothering you?"
"Nothing escapes you," Kris mumbled with a small smile. She kissed my hand and retorted, "I guess I'm nervous. You know…"
I cupped her cheek and retorted, "We've grown up differently but you and I can do this. Together."
"I want to give them everything I couldn't have."
"You already have," I told her. I scooted closer, giving a quick peck on her lips as I whispered, "You're giving this baby two amazing grandmothers, an adorable aunt and uncle, a very hyper great grandmother, and overall, a loving mother. You're already giving this baby everything you didn't have."
She gave a small smile and turned toward her nightstand. She pulled open her drawer to reveal a simple black photo album. "It was a gift from Price when I was thirteen," she explained, showing the photos. "I remember he was telling me about how I can fill these with memories." She stopped at a picture of an older male being Father Price with a younger Kris. "I wish you met him," she confessed.
"Me too," I replied. I looked down at the years of photos then said, "He would have been proud of you."
Tears formed in Kris' eyes, making run my hand along her cheek with Kris turning her head, kissing my palm as she whispered, "I love you."
"I love you too."
R&I
Why do I feel wet?
My eyes snapped open in realization and looked down, turning the light on immediately. "Gabriella," Kris groaned as she sat up, rubbing her eyes. "What's with the light on, honey?"
I felt a sharp pain and I bit my lower lip, trying to calm myself down. I then looked at her and answered, "Love, my water broke."
Maura's POV- 3am
"Maura! Jane!"
My eyes popped open quickly at the sound of Kris' voice. I looked over to see Jane rushing downstairs and I grabbed my robe, placing my hair back in a ponytail as I ran downstairs also. "Maura, what's going on," Angela inquired, stepping out of the guest room.
"I'm not sure," I answered as I passed her. "Stay with the twins, Angela?"
"Of course."
I reached the front door to see Jane running back out of the main house with her cell phone at her ear. "What's going on," I asked her.
"Gabriella's in labor," Jane replied quickly. "Kris is timing contractions and I'm getting an ambulance now."
I ran into the house, climbing up the staircase to the bedroom to see Kris on her at Gabriella's side of the bed, squeezing her hand. "How far are the contractions," I asked, climbing onto the bed.
"So far, I've got five minutes now but we've been varying from twenty and have gone down like this for the last four hours," Kris retorted.
"Why didn't you get me sooner," I inquired.
"Contractions can last for several hours varying from twenty to five minutes," Kris retorted simply. "You told me that and we were fine until now. She's been very…testy."
"These are killing me, Krislyn," Gabriella cringed, squeezing Kris' hand harshly.
I watched as Kris winced then looked at me. "What can we do," she asked.
"There's not much except wait until the ambulance comes. Jane's calling them right now and I suggest you get Gabriella's suitcase," I told her.
Kris nodded and was about to pull away but noticed that Gabriella was still gripping her hand. Kris hissed and looked at Gabriella who released her hand slowly with an apologetic expression. I watched as my daughter bolted into the closet to look for the suitcase. Suddenly, I heard Gabriella groaned in pain and I asked, "Another contraction?"
Gabriella nodded and I pulled out my timer, timing the contraction until I noticed that the time was still at five minutes. "Where's Jane," Kris barked as she ran out with the suitcase.
"Right here," Jane answered as she stepped into the room.
"What's the ETA?" Jane cringed and Kris ran her hand through her hair at this expression. "Please, tell me that it's not beyond ten minutes," she asked.
"There's a warehouse fire and about several units are there."
"So much for Plan B," Kris mumbled.
Gabriella let out another cry of pain and I looked at the two detectives. "We're going with Plan A then," I told them. I stood up from the bed and ordered, "Jane, get the engine going on the car and Kris, you help me carry Gabriella down."
"I'll also tell Ma the situation," Jane added as she ran out.
I looked at Kris as she placed the suitcase in her right hand then went to Gabriella's left side. I went to the right and said to Gabriella, "Ok, sweetheart, we are going to lift you up and get you to the car." Gabriella nodded, squeezing Kris' arm as I said to Kris, "On the count of three, we will lift her up. One…"
"Two…"
"Three," we both said, lifting Gabriella up from the bed. Gabriella cringed and was on her feet, taking in a deep breath as she began to walk. Kris stood at her side while I followed quickly behind. "How are we doing, Gabriella," I asked.
"Still in pain. Contractions are still five minutes," Gabriella answered.
"Let's just get you to the hospital."
R&I
Two hours later…
"Ah," Gabriella cried out again causing Jane to jump. Kris didn't flinch as Gabriella wrapped her hand around Kris' hand, squeezing it to death.
I watched Kris' hand turned red while Jane whispered, "Was I like this when I gave birth to Aly and Liam?"
"Yes," Kris and I replied instinctively. I then looked at my wife and added, "However, I also remember that you were cursing a lot as well."
"All I remember is pain and giving birth to the kids."
"All I remember is the lost of circulation in my hand and fainting," Kris told Jane as she stepped away from Gabriella. She then looked at me and asked, "There's not much to do, is there?"
I shook my head. "Gabriella wanted to do this naturally and unless the baby is breaching feet first then there won't be a Cesarean," I explained to her.
"Let's hope…that I can get through it without that," Gabriella huffed. Kris walked over, picking up a cloth and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
"Hey Doc," a nurse entered. "Doctor Brown wanted me to see how dilated you are and then we'll proceed from there." Gabriella nodded at this while the nurse looked down. After a couple minutes, she looked back at us and said, "Not yet."
"So now we wait," Kris mumbled.
I nodded in agreement, "Now we wait."
Kris' POV- A little after 6am
"Kris," I felt my body getting nudged. My head popped up immediately and I looked over to see a blur in front of me. I pulled out my glasses and placed them on to see Gabriella staring down at me. I yawned tiredly, "How long have I been out?"
"Since 4:30, you needed the nap," Gabriella replied before she cringed as she sat up in the bed. "Jane and Maura walked me around after you fell asleep."
"You could have waken me up," I told her as I stood up briefly and cracked my back.
Gabriella shook her head while Maura commented as she said on the other side of the bed, "You were exhausted. You needed, at least, a quick kitty nap."
"Cat nap," I corrected automatically. I then leaned down and kissed Gabriella's lips briefly before I heard her cry out in pain. I pulled back with a curious expression and commented, "That contraction came fast."
"They are getting…pretty…close together," Gabriella cringed.
"In means of close," I inquired.
"Doctor Brown's here," Jane announced suddenly as she entered the room with coffee.
As if on cue, Doctor Sandra Brown came right after Jane. The tall red head smiled at both of us and greeted, "Hello you two, aren't we running a bit early huh?"
"Early is an understatement," I replied with a small smirk.
Doctor Brown smirked, "Well, let's see what we got and we'll proceed from there."
"I'm moving," Jane commented from her seat against the wall. She stood up from her chair and moved next to me, making me snicker. "What," she questioned.
"It's hilarious that you can deal with blood and guts from murder and yet, you can't handle childbirth," I commented.
Jane narrowed her eyes and hit my shoulder playfully. "I handled childbirth fine but I will not witness it, thank you especially after that birth video. You shouldn't even be talking since you fainted when I gave birth," Jane retorted with arms crossed over her chest with coffee in her hand.
I rolled my eyes and Dr. Brown let out a small hum sound. "What does that mean," I inquired.
"It means that you are about to be a mother. Both of you are," she said to us.
R&I
Everything happened pretty fast with Jane, Maura and I were getting hospital covers over our clothes. I looked at Maura and Jane with an anxious expression causing Jane to touch my shoulder. "We got your back, Kiddo," she assured us.
"Catch if I fall," I asked her.
Maura smiled, kissed my forehead and answered, "Always."
We reentered the room to see Gabriella, breathing heavily. "Just in time," Dr. Brown smiled while another nurse stood next to her. "You ready to have baby in your life, Detective?"
I walked over to Gabriella's right side while Jane took the left and Maura stood with the doctor. We took Gabriella's hands and I gave Gabriella's hand a quick squeeze then answered, "Ready as I'll ever be."
"Okay, Gabriella, on the next contraction, you are going to push."
Gabriella nodded then she squeezed my hand suddenly as a contraction came. She took in a deep breath and pushed, shouting in pain. "Fuck," she cursed causing Jane's eyes to widen.
"I see the head, Gabby," Maura informed us with a happy smile. "Just a couple more pushes."
"Another contraction coming," Jane announced.
"You got this, love," I whispered into her ear.
Gabriella nodded and the contraction came fast and quick. She shouted in pain as she pushed while my hand began to feel numb due to lack of circulation. Everything was happening all so fast until I heard it finally.
The small cry of an infant coming into this world.
"It's a boy," Brown announced happily.
Tears formed in my eyes as I pressed my forehead against Gabriella's, whispering, "We have a son. We have a son."
R&I
They took our son to get cleaned up and as we waited for them to return, Gabriella rested. Our hands still were linked with Gabriella running her fingers along the scar on my hand.
Over the hours that Gabriella was in labor, people were waiting in the waiting room for us. Based on what Jane told me that Nonna with Cavanaugh brought Liam and Aly while Frankie was picking up Korsak, Frost and Tommy. According to Maura, Judith arrived shortly after to con her way to see us even though she was nurse as well.
"Hm," I heard. I looked up to see Gabriella turning her head to see me looking up at her. "Hey," she greeted tiredly.
"Hey beautiful," I greeted back.
Gabriella let out a small chuckle, "Beautiful? I must look horrible."
I shook my head then said ardently, "We have a son."
"I zoned out somewhat after I gave birth. Can you tell how much he weighed and everything?"
"Twenty one inches, eight pounds and five ounces, and he looks beautiful."
"Just like his parents," the nurse announced, wheeling the little basket that held the baby. I stood up from my chair then helped Gabriella sit up in her bed. The nurse lifted our son from his resting spot, handing him to my wife.
My heart swelled as I watched my wife rock our son. "Hello baby boy," she greeted.
"What's his name," the nurse inquired.
I looked at Gabriella briefly then answered softly, "Nicholas…"
"Price," Gabriella added.
"What?"
Gabriella smiled and she gestured for me to take him. I picked him up gently as she stated completely, "Nicholas Price Marx. That's his name."
I looked down at my son, rocking him gently. His skin was a light skin like his mother's but he had jet-black hair like mine. I ran my finger along his cheek and commented, "He's soft." Gabriella giggled and I kissed the top of his head, whispering, "Hi Nicholas, I'm your mom and I love you with all my heart. You don't how special you are."
The nurse stepped out of the room briefly and for a moment, we were alone with me sliding in the bed with my wife as I rocked our son. I then handed him to Gabriella while she rested her head on my shoulder. Suddenly, we heard a knock on the door causing me to say aloud, "Come in."
Gabriella and I listened as footsteps entered and I noticed Aly and Liam peering from behind the curtain. "Can everyone come in now," Aly whispered quietly.
Gabriella and I giggled and I nodded then mouthed, "Quietly."
Aly elbowed Liam to go grab everyone. We could hear him say, "You can come in but be very, very quiet."
The door opened again and the curtain got pulled back to reveal eleven people in the room. "So much for one visitor at a time," I mumbled to Gabriella.
Jane and Maura were the first to walk up to us. "Oh Kris, he's beautiful," Maura cooed at the sight of him.
"What's his name," Jane inquired.
"Nicholas Price," I answered softly. "Greek for victorious people and Price…Gabriella wanted that." I then looked at my son then asked my parents, "Would you like to hold him?"
They both nodded and gently, we passed my son to Maura first. She rocked him gently and greeted happily, "Hi Nicholas. Oh, he's so…so beautiful. I'll make sure that you won't feel left out and…"
"He'll be reading Gray's Anatomy in no time," I added.
Maura nodded and remained quiet, whispering to the baby. "No Googlemouth, honey," Jane inquired. Maura shook her head and I noticed that her hazel eyes were misty eyed. She then passed Nicholas to Jane who seemed to melt at the sight of my son. Maura engulfed me in a tight hug as she kissed the side of my head while Jane held my son and smiled, "Hi Nick, I'm your other grandma. We'll make you a Red Sox fan sure enough."
"Janie," Nonna scolded softly.
I let out a small laugh then heard Gabriella say, "We need a group picture."
"Right now," I questioned with a confused expression.
"Something to put in the photo album."
"What's going on," we all looked up to see the nurse gaping at the sight of all of us in the room. She placed her hands on her hips while Judith stepped forward and said, "We know that we're a bit out of hospital protocol but let's bend a quick rule. We want to take a quick picture then we're going to all leave and come back one by one."
The nurse glared at all of us but nodded.
Jane handed the baby back to Gabriella while everyone gathered around the bed. I took a moment to look around at all the familiar faces around. A smile formed on my face as I looked at Jane and Maura who smiled back. I then looked back at Gabriella who gazed back up at me. I then placed my finger in my son's hand as I heard the nurse say, "Everyone say 'Nicholas' on three."
If you told my fifteen-year-old self that I would have a better life, I would have laughed at you cynically. I have been through hell and to believe something like that was just torture.
"One…"
But, here I was, I have two loving moms, a little brother and sister who look up to me, my dream job, the love of my life, and now, I have a son. I have my own family.
"Two…"
Some would say that this was a perfect happy ending but I have to argue that.
"Three!"
It was just the start of a new beginning.
That's it, guys! I just want to say thank you for following this series since the beginning. It's funny cause I started the series in November and I'm ending it in November. I have run my course in this tale about the Rizzoli-Isles-Marx family but thank you for the following, favoriting, and reviewing. It helped me grow and now I'm on to my new story something that's different from this.
Also yes, the last scene in "Lethal Weapon 4" inspired this if you haven't noticed. If you haven't seen it, you should see them. If you haven't, you should see all four.
Please review, comment, etc! I love hearing from you. Please check out my other Rizzoli & Isles story "By the Blade" which, I will update as soon as possible.
