Hello and welcome to August.

The past couple weeks have been crazy for me and this story has been my one little exit. So thank you for reading and a special thank you to those that review.

The Mustang speed through the small town. Sam worried that someone was going to get hurt. He slowed down slightly, enough to make the man think they had given up. As they exited the town Sam speed up again.

"Where the hell is this guy heading?" Dean asked from the backseat.

The red car turned down a dirt driveway. Sam glanced at his father who nodded never taking his eyes off the car. By the time the truck came to a stop behind the car, it was empty. "So how are we doing this?" Sam asked.

"We're not even sure who he is." John said. "We go in together."

John got out of the truck looking around the area. The mustang and his truck were the only vehicles around. A run down barn stood in front of them. He nodded toward his sons and the three made their way toward the door. As they got close Sam moved to one side while Dean went to the other. John reached out and pushed the door open. The only light in the barn was the sunlight coming through the cracks in the walls and ceiling. John quickly scanned what he could see before nodding at Dean. Dean slid in and to the right while Sam went in to the left. John followed in pausing a moment to let his eyes adjust to the lack of light. A sound from the right caused the three to turn. The man stood a few feet away from Dean his face highlighted by a beam of light.

"Well not really what we were fishing for, but I guess it'll do." The man took a step toward Dean. "You shouldn't have followed me."

"You shouldn't have scared my son." Dean said, slowly pulling his gun out.

The man laughed. "So it's true, the great Winchester family just keeps growing." Carding his hands the man stretched and cracked his knuckles. "Not that it matters now." The man cracked his neck before smiling at Dean. Dean's eyes widened when he saw the man's teeth slowly growing.

Taking a step back Dean got out. "Not human." A second before a large black dog hit him in the chest.

John headed toward Dean, but was struck on the side and knocked over. As he heard his gun slide across the floor, John shifted into hand to hand combat. As he struck at the man on top of him knocking him off John got to his knees. He saw Dean still fighting the dog as another dog stalked toward him. Cursing John looked around trying to find his gun. The first man that had attacked him had recovered and was coming toward John. Giving up on his gun John struck out again. Just as he was getting the upper hand a sharp pain shot through his lower back. Staggering forward slightly John glanced behind him to see a large man sneering at him.

"You have got to be kidding me." John grumbled. As the man took a step toward him a shot rang out. John looked around and saw Sam, taking aim again. As he pulled the trigger a fifth 'man' slammed into him. John's heart clinched when he heard the unmistakable sound of boards splintering. Before John could go to help his youngest son the two men attacked. Luckily Sam had hit the bigger one both times. One good bunch in the shoulder where the bullet had hit brought the big man to his knees. John kneed him in the face to finish him. Turning to the first man John attacked before he could. After a few punches he was out. Looking around John saw the two dogs down, as well as Dean. Running to his son, John breathed a sigh of relief when he quickly found a pulse.

Standing John called. "Sam!"

"I'm here." John was relieved to see Sam walking toward him. He could tell that his youngest son was hurt but at least he was walking. John knew the second Sam saw Dean. The pain showing on his face instantly turned to concern as he ran to his brother's side. "Dean."

"He's alive, just unconscious. Help me get him to the truck." John said. Once Dean was secure in the truck John headed back toward the barn.

"Dad, we've got to get Dean home." Sam walked around to the driver's door.

John hesitated a second before getting in the truck. As Sam speed home, John worried about who and what they were dealing with.

Hannah stood by the window looking out into the darkness. They should have been home by now. Why weren't they home? Kathy carefully walked up behind her and placed a hand on her back.

"The boys finally went to sleep." Kathy said. "Well at least they're faking pretty good."

"Did Kaden say anything else?"

"I'm afraid not. Any sign of them?"

Hannah shook her head brushing away a tear. "You didn't see him Kathy. He was pure evil. I've been face to face with a demon and this guy was ten times worse."

Kathy gave Hannah a hug. "They will be okay. You're the one that told me nothing can stop a Winchester."

Hannah smiled slightly. "I'm so glad you're here."

Kathy shrugged. "I didn't have anything else planned for tonight."

"Mom." Kathy looked at Hannah who shook her head.

"That's not for me sweetie."

Kathy took a deep breath and headed up the stairs. She found Kaden sitting at the top of the stairs crying. Kathy sat down and pulled him toward her. "Baby, what's wrong?"

Kaden buried his head in her neck. "The bad man…" Kaden sniffed.

"Hush baby it was just a bad dream." Kathy turned and saw Logan standing in the doorway. She held her arm out and he came over and snuggled close. She hugged them and kissed them each on the top of the heads. "Now you two need to get back to bed. It will upset Ethan if he wakes up and he's alone."

Kathy stood and ushered the two boys back into their room. They climbed into their beds Kathy tucking them in again. "Good night and sweet dreams." She kissed them each peaked at Ethan before slipping out and closing the door slightly. She went to head down the stairs stopping when she saw Hannah smiling up at her. "What, are they home?"

"No not yet."

"Then why are you smiling so big." Kathy asked as she headed down the stairs.

"I just love watching a good Mommy at work." Hannah smiled bigger when Kathy blushed.

"Can I ask you a personal question?" Kathy asked wanting to change the subject.

"You can ask me anything." Hannah said walking over and sitting down on the couch. "In this family there are no secrets."

"How did you end up with this family?" Hannah took a deep breath, before telling Kathy her story, from the time of her parent's death to leaving the town with the Winchesters. "Wow your own uncle. What happened to him?"

"They killed them." Hannah answered bluntly. "No one messes with a Winchester. And that is what I am, from that very day until the day I die."

"I'm glad you found them."

"As did you." Hannah said smiling. She heard something and looked out the window. "They're home."

The two girls jumped up and ran to the door. Standing on the porch they saw John get out of the passenger seat and opening the back door. When Sam got out of the driver's side Hannah could tell something was wrong. She rushed to the truck holding the door open. Looking in she saw Dean slightly slumped over and very pale. John and Sam got him out of the truck as gently as they could. Dean groaned but his eyes didn't open.

"Can you get him to his bed?" Hannah asked.

Sam lifted his brother and headed toward the house. Kathy held the door open her face going as pale as Dean's. As Sam passed she saw the blood. She knew it could be anything from a simple knife cut to savage claws. Once everyone was up stairs Hannah took charge.

"Put him on the bed Sam, and get his shirt off. Dad get me the kit out of the bathroom."

John left the room as Sam gently removed the shirt Kathy saw the blood on Dean's side and gasped. John returned and sat the kit next to Hannah. Kneeling beside the bed Hannah started cleaning the wound, she was glad to see that it wasn't as bad as she first thought. Looking up she saw a red bump on his forehead and guessed that was why he was still out. "What happened?"

"It was a skin walker." Sam said. "It changed into the biggest damn dog I've ever seen."

"Unfortunately he wasn't alone. There were five of the damn things." John added. "I was fighting two Sam fell through the floor with another. Dean had the first one and one other. By the time I finished off mine and got to Dean he was unconscious."

Hannah finished cleaning the wound guessing that it must have been a claw slash. It was nowhere bad enough to be teeth marks. Standing she said. "Dad get me another sheet to place under him. There isn't a lot of blood but I don't want him laying on it." John slipped past Kathy and grabbed a sheet out of the closet coming back in he handed it to Hannah. He then helped Sam roll Dean enough for Hannah to spread the sheet under Dean. She then pulled the covers up over him. "Who's going to sit with him?"

"I will" Kathy said stepping in.

Hannah nodded. "Good and thank you. Come on Dad, I need to get a look at your arm. And don't think I didn't see that grimace Sam Winchester."

Kathy couldn't help but smile. "And here I was thinking you were the sweet quiet one."

Hannah winked at her. "Sometimes the quiet ones are the ones you should watch out for." Hannah said as she pushed John out of the room.

Sam looked down at his brother than up at Kathy. "If you need anything…"

"I'll get Hannah." Kathy said. "You better get before she comes back in and fetches you."

Sam gave her a weak smile as he left the room closing the door behind him. He could hear his father grumbling in the bathroom than hissing in pain.

"Sometimes I think you do that on purpose." John snapped.

"Yes, I sit around and think of how I can cause you three even more pain than you cause yourselves." Hannah

snapped back, as she finished bandaging the arm. "Is there anymore I need to torture…I mean bandage?"

John stood and kissed her check. "No. the rest are just bruises." He looked over and saw Sam standing at the door. "I am curious though about my son who fell through a floor."

"I'm fine." Sam said.

"I'll be the judge of that." Hannah said crossing her arms. "Here or our room?"

Sam sighed. "Our room."

Hannah grabbed the first aid kit and headed into their room.

John smiled at Sam. "You better move it you know she hates it when we stand around bleeding."

"Yeah, we'll see you in the morning." Sam went into the room closing the door behind him. "I'm really fine babe."

"Shirt off"

Sam removed his outer shirt. "See everything's fine."

Hannah walked over and started to pull the t-shirt off. Sam hissed but didn't stop her. Once the shirt was off she looked over his chest surprised that all she saw was a few bruises. Walking around him, she froze and gasped. His back was covered with several cuts. She also saw a few large pieces of what looked like wood. "Sam"

"Would you believe me if I said it looks worse than it feels?"

"I would ask why you didn't say anything before but I already know the answer." Hannah said as she pulled him over to the bed. "You three will kill yourselves while you save another."

Sam tilted her head up and kissed her. "How can we while you're around?"

"Well I guess it's a good thing I have no plans on going anywhere. Now lay down so I can do my job."

Sam carefully laid down on the bed. "It really didn't start hurting until I went to move Dean."

Hannah looked over his back. "I know darling but I'm afraid that you sitting in the truck may have pushed some of these slivers deeper."

"My knife is in my coat pocket over on the chair."

Hannah hoped that she wouldn't have to use it.
