Zoro had refused to stay in the hospital himself: He really, really had to go to work. He had a bad enough reputation for being fired as it was. However, before he left, he made sure a doctor was sitting with Vivi at all times with a short list of the only acceptable people to let in.

When Vivi woke up, she was still blind. She felt all around, trying to find Zoro, and when she couldn't she carefully sat up. Thanks to the pain medicine, it didn't hurt her as much as it normally would have, and she could continue her search. When she finally did find someone, it wasn't Zoro. She didn't know who it was, and that scared her. She quickly took her hands away and clung to the backboard of the hospital bed.

The doctor looked up at the sudden movement.

"Hey, hey, hey!" he admonished, putting a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "Don't move around too much or your medication won't work."

She slapped his hand away and pressed herself to the backboard, feeling like a cornered animal.

"Don't freak out. I'm the doctor. Your little friend ran off to work and left me here to watch over you."

Vivi relaxed slightly and nodded.

"Think you're going to be okay now?"

She nodded.

As if on cue, Zoro came back into the room, grumbling to himself.

"What happened to work?" the doctor asked.

"My boss didn't want me working with a 'gaping hole' in my shoulder," he sighed, using a mocking voice to characterise his boss.

Vivi smiled when she heard Zoro's voice and turned her attention towards the sound.

"Hey, Vivi," he greeted, sitting on the edge of the bed as the doctor left. "How are you doing?"

He handed her a notepad and pen, obviously clueless as to her condition.

Vivi looked in the direction she assumed Zoro was gave him an awkward smile and a thumbs up.

"Vivi…I'm over here," he corrected her.

Vivi turned her head so that she was actually facing him.

Zoro reluctantly waved his hand in front of her face.

"You can still see…can't you, Vivi?"

She shook her head.

"Dammit," he muttered under his breath.

It'd better be temporary. I have to be able to communicate with her.

"This makes it a little harder to talk to you," he explained awkwardly.

She nodded.

"Hope it's not permanent. It's kind of important to understand you."

The doctor returned to the room with a wheelchair.

"I know how much you guys like to leave before you're supposed to, so I brought you this."

Zoro smirked a little.

"Well, thanks, but I don't think that's really an option this time. A broken femur and a missing rib is a little different from our average hospital visit."

"Glad to hear it."

"Well, I'm not," Zoro grumbled.

"Don't worry: She should be good to go in a month."

Zoro sighed rather dramatically.

"Fine. Also, uh…how long do you think it'll be before she can see?"

"She's blind? Let me take a look," the doctor said, taking a small light off the wall and sat down next to Vivi.

"Tilt your head back a little, sweetie," he advised.

Vivi hesitantly complied.

After about a minute of examining her eyes, the doctor turned off the small tool.

"Alright, you can relax now," he told her before turning to Zoro. "She should be okay in two days."

Zoro sighed in relief.

"Thanks, doc."

I can survive two days of guesswork, I'm sure.

"No problem, he replied before turning back to Vivi.

"You get some rest," he told her, patting her on the head.

She flinched away from his touch before nodding.

Zoro ruffled her hair.

"Don't be scared; he's a nice doctor."

She put an arm around Zoro's waist and smiled up at him.

"Go ahead: Go to sleep while I try to get something to cover up this gash."

She nodded before reluctantly letting him go to lay down in her bed.

Vivi hadn't been sleeping long before she woke up in pure terror again. She sat up and sighed shakily, rubbing her temples. That's when she felt someone sit next to her and wrap their arms around her.

Zoro?

She hesitantly leaned on him. Something was off, but she dismissed it, thinking she was just really nervous.

"Shhh."

He very carefully scooped her up into his lap and started stroking her hair. It felt like there was a rock or something in his pants. She shifted uncomfortably and awkwardly returned the hug.

He pulled her closer to him, forcing her to be pressed against the 'rock' again and not leaving her a whole lot of room to move away from it. His hand moved from her head to her lower back.

Her face reddened. She didn't understand what Zoro was doing, but she trusted him. So, she didn't protest.

He made a weird noise and proceeded to curse himself inwardly for betraying himself with his voice.

Is this even Zoro?

He grinded against her a little, making another sound.

"Dammit," he grumbled.

She gasped and squirmed away from him. She grabbed a pillow and threw it, but missed and wound up hitting Zoro in the face instead.

The man inhaled sharply and held his breath just like that, pulling Vivi to him tightly and watching Zoro wearily.

Zoro shoved the pillow off of him, and the doctor began shaking.

"What the hell?"

Zoro rubbed his eyes and looked over at the scene developing across the rom.

Vivi whistled loudly in an attempt to get Zoro's attention.

The man covered her mouth.

"Be quiet," he whispered through his teeth.

Vivi shook her head and bit his hand. He growled and shoved his hand back into her mouth to make her let go. It worked, but she slapped him with the intent of making a loud noise. He grabbed both of her wrists with one of his hands and pushed her face against his chest. She squirmed, but there wasn't anything she could do at this point.

Zoro stood from his chair.

"What the hell is going on here?" he demanded grumpily. "What are you doing with Vivi?"

That wasn't even their doctor. Who the hell was he?

"I was…just…g-giving her medicine and she attacked me," he stammered.

Vivi struggled even more, trying to at least get her head away from him so she could breathe.

"She can't fucking move," Zoro retorted, only getting angrier as it seemed the man thought he was an idiot.

The stranger swallowed hard and let go of Vivi's head. She gasped, her breath panicked.

Zoro cracked his knuckles.

"I'm going to hurt you so bad, your whole family will feel it."

He let go of Vivi completely and scrambled out the door.

Vivi rubbed the back of the cast on her right hand and sighed.

Zoro approached her bed and got her back into a comfortable sleeping position.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

She nodded and felt around until she found Zoro's hand, holding it tightly.

"Good."

He brushed some stray hair from her face on impulse.

"Now, go back to sleep."

She squeezed his hand tighter and shook her head.

"Huh?"

It took Zoro a moment to understand.

"Oh…you want me to sleep here with you?"

She nodded and pushed herself to move over and make room for him.

Zoro carefully climbed under the covers, hoping he didn't disturb her wounds.

Vivi carefully coiled her body around his and wrapped her arms around him.
