CHAPTER 35: LUCARIO AND THE MYSTERY OF THE MEGA RING

Calem and Serena spent some time afterwards hanging out with their friends. They went for a walk at the beach and had lunch at a cafe.

Around 4 PM, Serena decided to go see Korrina.

"Calem," she said, "I think it's time that I go get the Mega Ring. Want to come with me?"

"Sure," said Calem. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Calem and Serena made their way to the Tower of Mastery. When they went inside, they looked up towards the ceiling, which was very high up. There was a spiral ramp that led to the top of the tower. There were also several levels to rest on.

"Let's climb to the top of the tower," said Serena. "Korrina is waiting there."

Serena started to climb the ramp. Calem followed her. The two climbed up and up the ramp, making a circle around the building, and exploring the rooms on the flat levels. There they learned some information about the tower and Mega Evolution.

At last, the pair reached the top of the tower. They saw Korrina and her two Lucario, as well as some surprising guests. Calem's parents and Serena's parents were visiting them. They had flown in when they heard about Serena getting a Mega Ring.

Calem ran up to his parents and hugged them.

"Mom! Dad!" he said.

"Hello, dear," said Cecilia.

"We heard about all your progress," said Pierre. "You're doing great."

Serena also greeted her parents.

"That nice young lady wants to speak with you," said Grace.

Everyone looked at Korrina, who was staring out into the distance with her Lucario.

"I really love this place," said Korrina. "When I'm here with my Pokemon, looking at the wide-open sky above, all my worries disappear, and I feel like I can do anything!" Korrina and her Lucario turned around to see Calem and Serena.

"Hello, Korrina," said Calem and Serena.

Korrina and her Lucario approached the two.

"Thank you for coming all the way up here," said Korrina. "It was decided that this must be the place where the Mega Ring must be handed over. Something about making sure we never forget to set our sights as high as the sky. And here it is - your very own Mega Ring!" She held up the Mega Ring, which looked more like a bracelet than a ring. "This shape makes it comfy and easy to wear!"

Korrina handed the Mega Ring to Serena, who equipped it on her left wrist.

"Awesome!" said Serena.

"It looks great on you, Serena!" said Louis.

"Thanks, Dad!" said Serena.

"Give your Pokemon the right Mega Stone and try battling with it!" said Korrina. "Your Pokemon will surely answer the call of the Mega Ring!"

One of the Lucario growled and approached Serena.

"What's wrong, Lucario?" asked Korrina.

"It looks like your Lucario likes Serena," said Calem.

"I guess she does," said Korrina. "Lucario, do you want to battle alongside Serena?"

Lucario growled in delight.

"I don't know what to say," said Korrina. "It seems shocking that you'd have such a strong bond with Serena. But I guess she must be something special." She looked at Serena. "So what do you say? Will you and your Lucario battle against me and my Lucario?"

"Sure," said Serena.

"They both have Lucarionite on hand!" said Korrina. "Let's get this show on the road!"

Calem and his parents stepped back. Korrina looked at her Lucario.

"Ready, Lucario?" asked Korrina.

Lucario growled.

"LET'S GIVE IT ALL WE GOT!" exclaimed Korrina.

The two Lucario got into position and started to battle.

Serena pressed her Mega Ring and then Lucario's Lucarionite started reacting to it. Lucario started to light up, and it shook. Then, in a flash of light, Lucario's form changed, and it was now Mega Lucario, ready to pack a powerful punch. In the meantime, Korrina activated her Mega Glove, and her Lucario transformed in the same manner.

"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Serena. Serena's Lucario punched Korrina's Lucario. The attack was quite strong.

"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Korrina. Korrina's Lucario did the same to Serena's Lucario, which also damaged it quite a bit.

"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Serena. This last punch made Korrina's Lucario faint.

Serena's parents were cheering for her, and so was Calem and his parents.

"Congratulations, Serena!" said Grace.

"You were amazing!" said Louis.

"That was so cool!" said Calem.

"Aw, shucks," said Serena.

"What an incredible bond you have!" said Korrina. "What an amazing power!"

"Thanks!" said Serena.

"That battle was explosive!" said Korrina. "I could tell that both Mega Lucario didn't hold anything back! With a bond like that, you shouldn't have any problems wielding the power of Mega Evolution!"

"I most definitely shouldn't," said Serena.

"I think it would be best if you took Lucario on your journey," said Korrina. "It's quite apparent that you two make an incredible team!"

"I think you do!" said Calem.

Serena's Lucario turned to her and growled pleasantly.

"I will take you with me," said Serena.

Lucario growled in delight.

"I guess you want a nickname," said Serena. "I'm going to call you Brunhilde." And so that name stuck.

Serena put Brunhilde in a Poke Ball.

"Serena," said Korrina, "as long as People and Pokemon have kindness to care for each other and give each other courage, the world will be full of smiles!"

Korrina's Lucario growled happily.

"I guess this is goodbye," said Serena.

"Don't worry," said Korrina. "You can come see me anytime you want."

"Bye!" said Calem and Serena.

"Bye!" said Korrina.

Calem, Serena, and their parents walked down the long ramp.

"That was incredible, dear," said Grace. "You really accomplished a lot."

"I sure did, Mom," said Serena.

"And you accomplished a lot too, dear," Cecilia told Calem.

"But I didn't get a Mega Ring," said Calem.

"No," said Pierre, "but you still proved yourself to be very responsible. I wasn't sure if you'd be happy, but I can see that you are enjoying yourself." He turned to Serena. "Serena, I am very grateful that you are taking good care of my son."

"Calem couldn't ask for a better friend," said Cecilia.

"Thank you," said Serena. "I love Calem very much. He's like family to me."

"I'm very grateful for it too," said Calem. "I'm glad that Serena protects me. I really admire her for that."

"Why don't we go down to the beach for a swim?" asked Louis. "And then we could go to a restaurant to celebrate."

"Okay," said Calem and Serena.

Calem, Serena, and their parents went to the beach, where everyone enjoyed the water. Afterwards, they went to a nice restaurant - Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor were invited too. And everyone had a good time for the rest of the day.
