A few years after the fall of Ragyo and the life fibers, it would soon enough be the time for the Kiryuin and Jakuzure children to start school. In between teaching basic things to Minatsuki at home, Satsuki and Ryuko had been visiting school open house sessions for the entirety of their daughter's education. Everything from elementary school to even college. Their inspections were not only for general condition and teacher readiness, but also the general area and extracurricular activities. The state and menu of lunches were also of interest. The Kiryuins were allowed to sit in for a lunch period to sample the food along with the other parents. Everything was prepared as normal, by the students. They followed a mandated lunch menu, which was on day 4. It featured deep fried fish, mixed vegetables, rice, potato Miso, milk and Natto. While not the most extravagant, it was still good and fairly filling.

Their tours took them all over the schools. As they were going down a hallway, they saw an open broom closet. Ryuko nudged Satsuki and motioned to the closet. Satsuki smiled. "We can't do that here." She whispered.

"Why not?"

"I'd rather our daughter get into nice schools and not be told 'your moms got busy in the closet' as to why she can't."

"You're no fun." Ryuko huffed with a faked pout, making them both laugh.

The Jakuzure parents were also doing school tours, similarly teaching their daughter things of their interests in the hopes that something would take. Mako would always be working out, Shiro copying her. Nonon would play different instruments, sometimes to help Shiro sleep, others just for playing. Nonon handed her an acoustic guitar and started showing her the different notes it makes when each string is plucked. Shiro started plucking the strings by herself, which prompted Mako to start recording with her phone. Nonon and Mako were both delighted to see her showing signs of wanting to play. "How do you make it change the sounds?" Shiro asked.

After she handed the guitar back to Nonon, she sat and looked on patiently. "You have to push on the strings like this." She began, showing how to press the strings. "It goes from one sound..." She plucked two strings, then pressed them to stop the sound. "To more sounds, which change in the same way you touch them."

Shiro looked on and started smiling as Nonon showed her. She started by simply playing a few notes and chords, followed by the solo from 'One' by the american metal band, Metallica. She handed the guitar back and Shiro started trying to figure it out. Because she was so young, she had a hard time reaching the entirety of the fretboard. "I'm gonna do it. I just need time."

"I have an idea. They do make smaller guitars for children to start learning to play. Next time we're out, let's go get you one." Nonon said with a smile.

In the evening, the Kiryuins were relaxing at home, with Satsuki and Ryuko looking over school paperwork. Ryuko looked around and didn't see Minatsuki. She got up and went looking, but didn't take long to find her, as she was in the garden. She was smelling the flowers and looking at the vegetables. Ryuko told Satsuki to come and look. "Warms my heart. To think that she may like this now because of the smells and veggies, but maybe we can show her more and she may end up making a career of it."

"Our daughter, the botanist." Ryuko let out with a sigh of contentment. "This garden has been the start of a few good things, hasn't it?"

"Oh yes." Satsuki trailed off, seeing Minatsuki stand up with dirt on her knees and legs. "Maybe we should have a bath put out here..."

Ryuko couldn't help but laugh. She laughed loud enough to get Minatsuki's attention, which made her walk up to her mothers. "The flowers are really pretty and they smell nice."

"They sure do." Ryuko replied, kneeling to hug her. "You know, people sometimes use the stuff from flowers to make perfumes and scented candles."

Minatsuki's eyes went wide open with excitement. "They do? How do they do it?"

Satsuki took her by the hand and walked her over to a bench, Ryuko following them. Minatsuki sat in Satsuki's lap and looked on in wonder. "You see, what they do is they'll pluck the flower and then squish it to get the oils out of it. Other times, they boil it. Then, smart people take the scent and figure out exactly how much to use with other stuff like candle wax or sprays."

"Why do they only use so much?"

"Because using too much might bee to rough and smell too much, but using too little won't have enough."

Minatsuki scratched her head for a moment. "Do you think maybe I could do that?"

"Of course. If you go to school to learn it, you certainly can. But for now, you can start learning right here in the garden. We've got some books in the study you can start learning with."

...

Early the next day, Nonon called Satsuki to see if they could bring Shiro over to see the garden. She agreed and they set up a time. When they arrived, Ryuko greeted them and brought them out to the garden. Nonon brought Shiro over to the bench where she had her first kiss with Mako. "This place is very special to us. This is where your mom and myself had our first kiss."

"It's very pretty in here." Shiro said with a smile as she looked at the flowers.

"And don't they smell good too?" Minatsuki asked.

"They smell very good. It's nice in here."

Shiro started walking around the garden with Minatsuki and they looked at the flowers and smelled them. "Maybe they have a new place to play together." Satsuki said.

"That would be wonderful. Do you think maybe we could bring her over with her new guitar? She's learning to play."

"I don't see any harm in that. It would give her an open space to practice in. How much have you taught her already?"

"She's only really just starting, learning strings, notes and chords. But she'll get there one day."

"With a teacher like you, I can't imagine it taking too long."

All of the parents looked on as their daughters took turns sniffing the flowers. "You planning anything for Minatsuki?" Mako asked.

"Maybe she'll be a botanist. We've got books she seems to be interested in, and learning at home is a good start." Ryuko answered.

"Someday, we'll have live performances here with the new scents of the garden." Satsuki added.

"That would be amazing!" Mako said cheerily.
