Connor left and Eirene put her head down for rest. A few hours later Connor came to wake her, and she took watch until it was time to wake him. This continued until Connor could see the crack of dawn over the horizon and he rushed to wake her.

She was already awake, awoken by worry for Andrew's health. Connor came in to the sight of her leaning for him, and he was worried for a second.

"Is he alright?"

She nodded. "Fine, his breathing hasn't been strained for some time. I think he's well enough for travel." She shook him slightly. "Andrew? Andrew, wake up."

"You're too soft with him." Connor cracked his neck, faking toughness. "You've got to use brutal brains when waking Athena's children." He crouched down to Andrew's ear, whispering: "There's a major blowout sale at Barnes and Nobles."

Andrew's eyes opened so quickly Eirene wondered if he'd really been asleep. He sat up, the pain in his arm forgotten. "When?" He squint his eyes and looked around, finally remembering where they really were. The pain in his arm was now and dull throb and it no longer bothered him. "Oh," he sighed. "Last night wasn't a dream."

"Sadly, no; we remember every second of your bitching," Connor teased, grabbing Andrew's bag and heaving it over his shoulder. "Now get up, we have a lot of errands to run today."

"And rings to find," Eirene put in. Andrew got up with no help, and rolled his injured arm slightly, testing it out.

"I think it can wield a sword," He concluded. Connor threw his bag back at him.

"Splendid! Which means it can carry its own weight."

They worked on dismantling the tent, and putting it away in Andrew's pack. And then they trekked on, through the dessert and through the heat, Eirene actually a bit thankful for her shortened clothes in this temperature. She looked at the still rising sun and let herself be overwhelmed by its beauty for a moment, before tuning herself back in the conversation brewing between the two boys.

"You iris messaged Sam? How is she? How's the camp?"

Eirene nodded. "She's well. She says Travis misses you."

Connor scoffed. "Of course he does. His pranks are dry without me around!"

"Mind you, the camp is safe, without you around." Andrew corrected.

Connor ignored him. "Did she say anything else?"

"We didn't have much time to talk, but she did mention that she'd seen those two girls before; the ones who tried to blow up the Lamia. She said the camp has a list of people with 'the sight'."

Connor nodded. "We do, though not everyone knows about it," He puffed out his chest proudly. "Only exclusive head counselors know of it."

Eirene glanced at Andrew. "Then how does he know of it?"

"I know everything."

Connor threw him a look. "Annabeth told him." He looked suspicious. "She trusts him for some reason."

Well, they are siblings. Eirene thought. It would make sense for her to trust him. But then Eirene thought for a second, and she could see where Connor's suspicion stemmed from. Andrew was a pretty private guy, (from what she'd gathered) and he didn't reveal much about himself. Connor himself said Andrew had been at camp for six years—and the only thing he knew about him was where he was from. So for Annabeth to trust him enough to give him exclusive information, she must be familiar with his past. He must've told her about himself.

"It's a long story. He wasn't always like that." She remembered Annabeth saying. "Cold and drawn back and self-served, it was as series of events that led up to his newfound personality."

But why would he tell Annabeth and no one else? Had they…No. No, of course not; Eirene had seen what she'd been through with Percy and knew she would never compromise that, she loved him too much. But what was it then? Why had Andrew told her about himself?

"I'm a trustworthy person." Andrew shot back. "I always follow through with my promises."

"That's because you don't make any promises." Connor retorted.

Andrew stopped walking and stood in front of Connor, looming over him. "When I took this quest I made a promise that I would try to the best of my abilities to fight, stay alive, and protect my fellow quest members." He stepped even closer. "You'll do well to remember that, Stoll."

Eirene had had enough of this. She could cut the tense with a knife, and knew that if she didn't interfere soon a fight would break out, with Connor's tightening fist throwing the first punch. "Alright, alright, that's enough! Both of you," She forced herself between them and pushed them back, glaring at Andrew. "Your arms just healed and now's the worst time for a fight." Honestly, Eirene understood Andrew's reaction to Connor's accusations. She took promises very seriously as well, being the vessel of the Styx river and all. She couldn't break them either. It was a curse as well as a blessing. She turned to Connor. "Apologize."

He looked as if she'd slapped him. "What?"

But she didn't budge, giving him a scolding look. He sighed, and said grudgingly under his breath, "I'm sorry."

Andrew walked off, continuing on without checking to see if they were following. Connor threw Eirene a look of betrayal, which she ignored. If he was still upset at her later on, she asked for his forgiveness. But for now, they walk. So they continued on, stopping at the nearest convenience store to buy some food.

"This is barely food," Andrew complained, when he saw Connor's arms spilling over with Sno-balls. "You won't be able to run when you're stocked up on that."

Connor turned his nose up at him. "Sno-balls are filled with plenty of sugars and carbs, which will give me energy when I run." He gave a pitying look to the turkey sandwich Andrew was holding. "Are you planning to feed that to the monsters?"

Eirene snickered, but warned Connor to keep his voice down; the store clerk was staring. Andrew looked to Eirene.

"Aren't you going to get anything? You must be famished, will all the energy you used up yesterday."

She didn't really feel hungry, but thought it be best to grab the closest ham sandwich as to smolder any suspicion. Connor showed her a look of betrayal for the second time today. "You too? What's with the sudden health binge?"

She shrugged. "All we've had are cookies and other junk food. A healthy sandwich can't be bad once in a while." She chucked the sandwich at him to catch, and he caught it in his stack of junk food. They all managed to pay for their food, and kept on with their quest.

"Next stop: clothing department!"
