The things we do

I am a Saiyan, don't you know?

"Running around with scissors is a dangerous game. It is going to get you cut."

"I don't care if I get cut, this is something that I guess I have to do."

"Why must you actively seek out danger?"

"I am A Saiyan don't you know?"

"Prepare yourself boy; she is in a…. mood," Vegeta warned. He was heading out of the compound into the Gravity room. Goten was walking behind him and gave a salute for a greeting.

Gohan and Mirai had only landed in front of Capsule Corp just to hear the ominous warning from Vegeta. However, they could listen to Bulma yelling inside, "If you do not go home to Lime right now, I swear Goku you will not be allowed back here, and I won't allow Vegeta to... play with you anymore…."

"Ah, but Bulma, you won't even know if I am here." Goku unwisely answered.

Mirai looked over to Gohan, who only had a shake of his head, but explained, "I think that Bulma is still trying to mother him. This time it is all about my dad's girlfriend."

"Wait, what? Your father has a girlfriend?" asked a perplexed Mirai.

Gohan pinched his nose; he was going to spend more time talking than anything. Kami he wished Trunks could just hear his thoughts.

Gohan felt himself get warm at that idea. He was feeling more like a schoolboy than a full grown Saiyan around Trunks-kun.

Bulma resisted throwing something at her longtime friend. Not because she was not angry enough, but she knew it would not affect him. Vegeta had wisely chosen to leave the argument. Goku had wanted to fight and spar with Vegeta and his son.

Gohan and Mirai came into the living room only to have their ears pierced by Bulma's very high-pitched scream of joy….

Goku blinked out of existence. Gohan figured it would be the gravity chamber and not home.

"Trunks. Oh my gosh… your hair is short!" Bulma gushed.

Trunk tried not to blush, but he also wanted to grab his mother and hold her tight. And he did.

"Oi, Torunsku…. I missed you" Bulma could feel his emotions in that hug. And she knew. Her counterpart must be gone.

"There, there I bet you are hungry. I bet I could get some Ramen fixed up for you very quickly."

"Gomen Nasi okaasan." Mirai released his mom to give her some breath. It had been a while since he had seen her at any time.

A flash of blue caught his attention though. He was looking at his mother and saw beyond her, a figure.

Trunks was usually not so forthcoming and rude, but the person he was seeing was a duplicate of his mother, just years younger.

However, the familiar smirk and stance was all Vegeta. She was his sister. His all grown up sister. Kami save this times Trunks. He could never let this creature outside. She looked capable of too much havoc.

"Oh, Bra, come meet your brother!" Bulma had seen the look on Trunks face. It was not difficult to see what had surprised him.

He was speechless.

"So, you're the one?" she asked.

"If you mean I am the one from the future then yes I guess." he smiled.

Bra nodded up and over to Gohan who was behind Trunks. Gohan smiled back; he enjoyed this family reunion.

However, little Bra was quick to wit, and could not let anything pass, "So Gohan, you going to be staying around?"

Bulma only giggled. She could not believe that Trunks had come back to this time. And according to Vegeta, he was staying.

To Gohan, it was apparent little Bra knew precisely his feeling for Mirai had been, no thanks to Trunks and Goten.

Gohan stepped up closer to Mirai and whispered in his ear, "nothing is sacred in this house."

Mirai blushed for a mere minute. Nodding in agreement, silently decided that living here might be a bit much; though there was enough room in the place. He wanted to have some privacy with Gohan.

"Bra go make some food for Trunks!" Bulma urged then managed to drag the Saiyan down over to the couch.

Gohan reached for Bra's elbow, and began to escort her into the kitchen, "I'll go help make something to eat."

"Thanks, Gohan." Bulma cheered out.

They walked off and out of earshot, Gohan berated Bra, "Try not to embarrass him too much. He has not lived as you have."

"Oh, please Gohan, he is my brother. I am pretty sure that his wicked ways were not just an aberration while he was here."

"Well, I don't think he would lick your boots if you ordered him," Gohan said tongue in cheek.

"Ewe! I would not order Trunks. That's just creepy. He is my brother…." Bra closed her eyes and shook her head.

"Don't play coy; you would if you thought you could…."

"I might just order you to… don't give me tough time Gohan. I am just thrilled that I get to spend time with the hero…. "

"He is that. I just don't know if he is so much like our Trunks now. He used to be shy around others, that was until he got crazy or mad."

'Crazy as in horny?" Bra asked.

"Yeah, that about covers it."

"Gohan, is he staying?"

"Yes." Was the simple reply.

"You're going to be with him?"

"If that's what we decide." Gohan had no idea what was going to happen

"Why wouldn't you?" her crystalline eyes almost shimmered with tears.

"I don't know where he is at. I don't know where I am at." Gohan shook his head. A lot had occurred in too short of time. They still hadn't even figured out why Trunks showed up when he did and what happened why they were in the time chamber.

"But you love him?" Bra questioned. She had only heard about their time, she never asked Gohan anything about Mirai Trunks.

"With everything I am." Gohan looked up to answer her. Bra was always so forthcoming. She might be a little deviant herself, but was one of those people that asked all the honest questions without malice; a throwback to his father. And like Goku, a was very astute. And unlike Goku, highly intelligent and intuitive. Not to undermine his father's nature. Bra was a product of her parentage without their fly off the handle anger. Though he knew she held her own against anyone.

"So, it's kind of perfect. You and Trunks get to be happy." She figured that they would be a couple now. Gohan had gotten back a missing piece, Videl could not be wished back. And Trunks no longer had a time of his own.

"Yeah, just like you and Goten." Gohan could only hope that Bra's insightfulness was a harbinger of good fortune.

"He is better." Bra had had a tough time helping Goten come too grip with his mother's death. He had blamed himself in part.

"Can you believe we might just get a break." Gohan threw out to make a change in subject.

"What about Pan?" Bra brought it back to their reality of late. Gohan could tell she was still worried about that past few weeks.

Gohan laughed. Trying to ease the worry. "Pan, Pan. All of us must sit and talk. Some weird things are happening there. And with Mirai too. There is a reason he is here. Most of that derives from Pan.

Trunks will tell us more. And I would not be surprised if another new adventure comes our way. But for right now we need a break. And I am going to make sure I take one. I can't be hating life as I have lately."

Pan was sitting at the edge of Trunk's Bed. She had fallen asleep with him long enough so that he was out; now she was up. She was tired but had too much on her mind. Trunks had only missed her for a day, and she was gone for a year. In that time, she had become more of something then she ever figured. Pensively, she wondered if her newfound abilities were limited to the inside of the time chamber. Or perhaps should she make what she desired to come to her here? It was left for her to interpret what Mirai had spoken about. Testing her abilities. She should probably sleep. However, she only imagined that anyone would be too stoked to know that they had gained a superpower.

But Pan had a double problem. She had gained an entire year of time without Trunks. In that time, Pan had had no contact in a manner which could compare to a few months previously. In other words, she had had a whole lot of time to think.

In this bedroom, she allowed her mate to rekindle their physical relationship. With him, she figured that would always be the simple part. Sparring with Trunks was the natural element. But how did she feel? Inexplicably, she knew denying him her body wasn't something, yet she knew how to do. Nor want. Even if afterward she would question it. The answer would be the same. With Trunks, it wouldn't matter. She belonged to him.

To her other dilemma, she wished for a plate of eel sushi. She really wanted to have some. A shimmering shadow opened in the room, and a plate of eel sushi was set down before her. An invisible hand delivered it. She looked around the room to see if anything else was here, and she thought she saw a feather floating in the air. Beyond astonished and curious, she got off the bed and picked the white feather up. She placed on the nightstand and then ate the sushi. Hopefully, her Saiyan metabolism would ward off if this was not safe to eat.

The next morning amid all the thoughts that ran through her head, Pan took up her regular routine. She went to the Gravity room at Capsule Corp and was going to start her morning run under high gravity. Vegeta was already there. So many times, before this day, she would have barged into the setting and ignore the Prince or engage him in a spar. However, everything was different inside her. She could not even say she was the same and everyone else had changed. She had turned. The world had changed. Life for everyone in her world had changed. Vegeta could be her closets compadre, but today it felt wrong.

Intuitively, Vegeta looked up to see the intruder, knowing it would be Pan. They did not necessarily lock eyes, but there was a glance. He sensed a resistance; she was not going to embark on her usual routine. He watched as she left the antechamber. It did not really hurt his feelings, but there was a remorse inside. He wondered briefly if Pan might move; not from just his home but this place, this realm. The universe was a large place. She had not seemed like a peripatetic, but perhaps her new-found powers changed that too? He would miss this little imp. And it made him frown.

She found herself in between the two houses. Pressing down on her Ki… She did not want them to know how close she was. Her emotions were more mixed than before. It was though life continued a trajectory for which she had no answer for. Going to her home to confront Mirai was intentional. She had not thought that one out of its conclusion.

She could not shake the image her mind had conjured up when she heard her father moan out in ecstasy. It was a haunting reminder of time lost… her parents. However, it was not her parents.

The first thought was 'gross, ewe!' than a complete picture of a man too much like Trunks and her father, a replay of Trunks image in her head after they had bonded. This time she got a full impact on the situation. She ran.

Going to her grandparents' home usually made things better. Sure, Chichi was not there, but Her grandfather was her rock and hero. If the images of her father were terrible, the idea that her grandfather was with another person made it even more horrifying. Damn her Saiyan hearing.

She had not wanted an image of Goku with anyone! He was her sweet and lethal papa.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" she thought. Her day was ruined and her mind a blur, that she did not hear the whispering sounds….

"Pan, Pan come here…." Trunks staged whispered again.

And there he was.

She shook her head, as to clear her mind.

"Pan just walk to me, and I will take you away."

Oh, my Kami, I cannot remove these sounds from my memory.' Pan complained.

Trunks was only sorry he had not arrived earlier in her discovery. He might have had some fun in the witnessing of Mirai and her father. Thankfully, he had been there when she had heard her grandfather. Goku was such a scared person to her. An innocent sacred person. He would

support her concern over that incident. However, Gohan's life was something he was not even going to attempt to discuss. Trunks would be an ear if she decided to talk about it.

"So where did the sushi come from last night?" he asked, changing the subject.

"You would not believe me," Pan repeated her newfound mantra. Then Trunks produced the feather she had left in the room.

"I think I might be willing to make a bet against that."

"What do you think, of that feather? Where did it come from?" she asked rhetorically.

"I bet we will find out more once your father is less occupied." Then Trunks cringed for he did not want to discuss that with her.

Pan just put her head to his chest. He wrapped his arms around her small frame. Trunks too had had tumultuous journeys through his youth, but not quite like Pan is latest.

It saddened him that he had not been in the Chamber with her, but it warmed him to know that she had wanted him there. It was not lost on him. It made him feel a need to give voice, "you know no matter what happens I am here for you, I will always be with you. Even when we are not together physically."

Pan did not want to leave the comfort of his arms to look up at him, "I know." She muffled into his chest.

Then he leaned down to her ear and whispered, "you know I still can see everything you are not saying."

It was a part of their bond. "I doubt that that bond is any different

from the one we always had. You could usually read my thoughts. Except," then she paused.

But Trunks knew too where that statement was going, "I could not read them when you began to change. I stopped myself from staying close to you. I know. You know why

though, it would not have worked then."

And Pan finished the thoughts for him, "but now I am older. Another year more so. My questions are not with us. However,"

"I know that too." Trunks replied answering her doubts. He knew that the time away would put a gap in between them. However, the difference was not about the connection; it was about the future.

"You could just be my wife, that would put an end to some of the dilemmas." He smiled though that frightened him too. She could not help but be elated. She was his. This joy should not have been that much of a shock. Trunks was a Vegeta through and through; he enjoyed his Saiyan

traditions. The mere thought of him talking about marriage to her brought a round of emotions she was not expecting.

"Don't joke." She smiled at him.

"Pan you know I am not joking." He explained, with great

patience in his voice.

"I know." She quipped; very quietly. Before, it was a scheming that Bulma had in mind. She knew though, Trunks was severe. It would be a public matter. He was speaking regarding now, not latter. She was not even sure where the world stood considering what she had done recently. Perhaps a wish on the Dragon to make everyone forget the last few months.

Trunks continued to hold her in his arms. Sensing that

someone was approaching where they were.

"I love you." He whispered. Then untangled her from his

arms and stood them both up.

"Hiya Goten." Trunks hollered.

Pan looked up to see her fallible uncle fly overhead.

"Did you guys get a load of all that?" Goten asked jovially pointing over his back.

Trunks rolled his eyes. Goten could be so impulsive at the best of times,

"Yes, Goten, we sensed all of that," Trunks replied.

Pan noticed how his voice changed octave; he was treating Goten like the proverbial idiot. If she had not been so upset over it, she might have laughed at her uncle's expense. However, she was just worn out over the emotional yo-yo.

Before Pan could respond her desire to go home, Goten had stepped closer and asked Trunks, "hey man my brother must really love pounding your ass!"

"Goten!"

"Chibi!"

Pan and Trunks both yelled at him.

"I can't believe you would even say that I am standing right here Goten." Then Pan smacked Goten in the head. She could be furious at him, but she was not happy. He was just so damn lovable.

"Oh, my Kami, I can't believe we are here talking about this." Trunks pinched his nose.

"It is not even me. You know. I am not the one. It is Mirai."

"yeah, him and Lime," Pan suggested.

'shit." Goten said the really began to laugh.

Trunks whispered in her ear, "we could just laugh about it. Goten seems ok with it. He is more sensitive to changes."

"Trunks that is the most stupid thing you have ever said. I am the one who does not like change. Goten is the chuckle bunny."

"what is a chuckle bunny?" Trunks asked.

"Him." Then pointed to Goten rolling on the ground holding his stomach.

Gohan was trying to get his head around all that had transpired. All the anger he had been living with vanished, and its place was this little piece of heaven. And the guilt which should have accompanied this happiness was so far from his list of worries that he worried.

Mirai watched his features. He could see all kinds of emotions sitting on Gohan's face. But the Saiyan was not saying a word about it.

"It is no wonder," Mirai said' still laughing.

"What is no wonder?" Gohan was curious about that statement.

Mirai laughed. "It is no wonder that Vegeta still has respect for you, you are so silly at times."

Gohan even looked more confused.

"You, you are always so kind and thoughtful, but you look at me with all these emotions in your eyes, but you have not said a word. So stoic Gohan. I liked you better as a child when you spoke your mind."

With that statement, a mere challenge, which ended with Trunks being tossed down deeper into the mattress that both men had been on. Gohan had his face closer to Trunks, "You like me better as a child, here I thought you liked me better now."

Trunks pushed with great force to turn the tides on Gohan and flipped the older, stronger Saiyan on to his back. "I like you better with me. But you know what I mean Gohan."

Unabashed, "I am wondering why my guilt is not as strong as I think it should be."

"Fuck Gohan, what do we have to be guilty of? We have done nothing wrong. Or is this about Pan?"

"Shit, Pan. No. She has her own Trunks to worry about." Gohan reached up and pulled Mira closer to him.

Mirai was kissing Gohan's earlobe when he heard a familiar clicking of the Saiyan visor. Toki Toki.

He hissed his displeasure.

And then reached for the contraption.

"Trunks here."

"Tokitoki has given his protection to another manipulator of time."

"Do we know who?" Trunks asked tersely.

"I think you do, and I tell you I am not surprised."

"Is this the real reason I got this scroll?"

"yes and no. Nothing has changed. I am training the new warrior in your place. And you are going to train a new Kai."

"You're kidding me, right?"

"Just ask her, she has the feather."

Mirai did not even bother to have that explained. Now he knew, then he remembered why Pan had bothered him so much. For want of pink hair and pointed ears, Pan was so much like Chronoa.

"What is Trunks? Do you need to go take care of something?" Gohan asked concerned about the anger.

Trunks sighed deeply, though shook his head.

Smiling, "no, I don't have to leave. Everything I must do is right here."

"Then that is good?" Gohan still not sure of the issue.

"tell me something Gohan, how many Kais, have you ever known?"

Gohan laughed. However, Mirai was only throwing it out there.

"I know more than my share, been to more than just the Supreme Kais planet. How different is the Kai of time than the others?"

"I forgot that you have journeyed there. You had not when I had been here last. Ah, Gohan there were too many timelines. Then you know exactly how I feel. They are an exasperating bunch."

"yes, they are, almost like dealing with family." Gohan laughed.

"Funny you mention family. I have something to tell you."

Author's note. Okay, the end… but I cannot let it go there… other stories will encompass this, but they will not be sequels….
