Demon and Angel: Chapter 37
Nobody Cares
Burn: something horrible is about to happen...
Aurora: SPOILER!
Ocean: Jeez, no need to yell...
Burn: just read and you'll see
Me: YAY! STORY! XD
Burn woke up to complete pain. Her red fur was burned and there were patches of ash tangled in her hair. Her eyes didn't shine with triumph or mischief. Instead, they were dim and defeated.
She pushed herself onto her hands and knees but she collapsed against the tree.
Everyone else was asleep, and she was probably the only one awake.
Burn just pushed the pain aside and quickly jumped to her feet. She slapped a hand over her mouth before she could cry out in pain from the sudden movement. She was relieved to see everyone still asleep as she limped out of the trees.
When she got out, she saw Dimmer sitting in the clearing, breathing calmly with his eyes closed. But Burn could tell he was still awake.
She watched him curiously for a second before his eyes slapped open and he leapt to his feet. He shot a green beam out of his horn, which hit a target that sprang up out of nowhere.
He continued this as more targets jumped into sight, but he shot them all down with lightning speed.
A little light shimmered in Burn's eyes and she found herself smiling ever so slightly.
Dimmer's ears pricked and he spun around to look right at Burn, his eyes flaring with green energy and his horn radiating with green light. Burn didn't even flinch.
Dim took a second to see that it was Burn and his eyes went back to normal, same with his horn. "You look awful." He said. Burn rolled her eyes and snorted. "Way to state the obvious." She smirked.
The sun was just peeking over the treetops and flooded the sky with golden orange light.
"so why are you awake?" Dimmer asked.
"Because I want to be." Burn replied with a smart attitude.
Dim just ignored that and was just going back to his training when Bright came into view.
Dim looked over at her and blushed. Bright just smiled at him and hugged him around the neck. Burn growled and her ears flattened. "Um... AHEM! We need to practice the spell." She reminded her.
Just then, Bright saw Burn and gasped. "Didn't you get healed by Ocean?" She asked frantically as she saw her injuries. Burn's eyes widened when she saw that Bright was worried about her, but she just turned away.
"I'm fine, let's just get on with it." Burn growled.
Dimmer spread his torn wings and flew away a good distance.
Burn winced as her burns stung and she faced Bright. They closed their eyes, cleared their minds and held hands. Burn could barely light her hands on fire since they would feel like they were crushed by a car, but she showed no weakness and did it anyway.
The wind swirled around them, and once Bright started sending fire energy through Burn, the red hedgehog screamed and pulled her hands back, which caused another explosion.
Burn lay unconscious 50 feet away from where they were once standing, and Bright was just like before, but she was still awake.
Dimmer flew over to Bright and made sure she was okay.
"Bright! Are you okay?" Dimmer asked frantically. "I'm fine... I just need to see Ocean." Bright answered as the changeling prince helped Bright back through the forest.
But Burn was still laying around in the dirt, breathing heavily and badly injured.
She was half awake though, and when she saw that they left her, she curled up in a ball and just stayed there for hours.
Dimmer was walking back towards where the explosion was and looked around.
He spotted something off in the distance, a red lump of... Something.
He fluttered his wings and flew over to the mysterious ball of fur.
When he saw who it was, his eyes widened and he nudged Burn's shoulder with his hoof. She gasped in surprise and opened her eye to see Dim. but she stayed silent before passing out again.
Dimmer sighed in relief to see that she was alive, and he flipped her onto his back.
He spread his wings again and flew back to their camp.
When they got there, Sora was waiting at the entrance. "I was wondering where you ran off to, where were-" he started, but he saw Burn and he stopped talking. "What the hell happened?" He asked.
"Nothing." Dimmer simply said as he carried her into the fort and called for Ocean.
The unicorn came around the corner and her jaw dropped when she saw Burn as well. "What the- I knew her name was Burn and all... But I didn't think she would take her name so seriously..." She said as she gestured to the countless burns covering her body.
Ocean's horn glowed blue and she levitated Burn over to a table and gently set her down. "Thanks to someone's carelessness, I'll be up all night!" Ocean grumbled as she put medicine on a serious burn and wrapped it in bandages.
"Wouldn't it be faster to cast a spell?" Gold asked. "It would, but it wouldn't come close to healing this. It may stop the stinging and the bleeding, but that won't protect it against infections and wont seal the wounds. No... We need to do this slowly." Ocean said as she bandaged another nasty burn.
"Well what if we combined everyone's magic?" Glimpse asked.
"it would create an energy so powerful that it could be too much for her, and Burn would die." Twilight and Ocean said in unison. Then the healer rolled her eyes and got back to work.
Burn: nobody cares
Bright: I care about Dimmer, and by reading this, I can tell you like him! So stay away!
Burn: *growls*
Bright: far away.
Burn: *grins at Bright* I hate you
Me: *sighs* this is what I deal with -_-'
