Chapter 37: Seafoam Islands! Articuno's Flight!
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS! We have reached the Seafoam Islands. We will be taking a short break, if you would like to explore the Islands go ahead, we plan to leave in 30 mins." The Captain said over the inter com.
Many of the passengers got off to go see the Seafoam Islands.
"Alright are we ready to go?" Andre asked as he put his black backpack on.
"I am" Green said with a smile.
"Let me go check on Kite real quick" Daisuke said as walked away towards their room.
"We will be on the shore" Andre said as Daisuke left their sight.
Daisuke went into the room and noticed Kite half-awake stretching on the bed.
"Hey Kite we are at the Seafoam Islands now, you want to go explore with us?" Daisuke asked.
"I'm good, I want to sleep some more" Kite said as he turned over on the bed going back to sleep.
"Sounds good man, we will take care of Pikachu" Daisuke said, Kite lifted his hands giving the thumbs up as Daisuke left the room.
Daisuke met Andre, Green, and Pikachu on the shore, "Ready?" Andre asked.
"Yes, let's go check these Islands out" Daisuke said with anticipation.
"Great, I know how to get into the lower part. Last time I was here I couldn't get there but I know how to now" Andre said determined.
The group entered the cave of the Island on the right side and began to make their way through the icy cave.
"Daisuke could you give us some light?" Andre asked as the cave got darker.
"Sure, Charmeleon come on out" Daisuke said as Charmeleon appeared, the flame on Charmeleon's tail lit up the area around the group.
"Alright let's go this way" Andre said as they started to follow him.
The group began traverse the cave going down a ladder to lead them a floor deeper.
"So how many floors deep is this cave?" Daisuke asked.
"Four, and we are already on the 2nd" Andre replied.
"So do you go for badges Andre?" Daisuke questioned.
"Yes, I have all 8 in fact" Andre said as she showed Daisuke his badge case.
"You already beat Blue?" Daisuke questioned a little shocked.
"Yes" Andre explained.
"What brings you back to Cinnabar?" Green chimed in with a question.
"Cinnabar is my hometown, I'm returning to prepare for the Indigo League" Andre explained.
"Are you pumped for it?" Daisuke questioned in an excited tone.
"Of course! So I take it you go for badges as well Daisuke?" Andre assumed.
"Yes, Kite and I both have 6 badges" Daisuke said showing Andre his badge case.
"So Kite is a trainer as well then" Andre confirmed as Daisuke nodded.
"What about you Green?" Andre questioned Green.
"I don't go for badges, I just wanted to travel the region. So Daisuke and Kite have let me travel with them" Green said with a smile.
The group reached another ladder and made their way down as they reached the 3rd floor of the cave.
"Would a Lapras be this deep underground?" Daisuke questioned.
"I'll explain, in the lowest portion of this cave, there is said to be a blue lake that glows throughout the 4th floor of the cave" Andre started.
"The whole 4th floor is still complete ice, but the lake is warm, there seems to be a small pocket of magma that is right underneath this lake that warms it up a little bit" Andre continued.
"It gives the blue lake a certain glow that reflects off the ice lighting up the whole lower floor" Andre explained.
"This is where said Lapras are" Andre finished.
"I got Kite's super rod, so we will catch one if they are there" Daisuke said determined.
"Yay!" Green said with excitement.
"Also you mentioned a legendary pokemon?" Daisuke questioned.
"Yes, Articuno is supposedly in this cave" Andre said getting excited.
"Articuno? That would be cool to see a legendary" Daisuke said with excitement.
"That would be neat" Green said a little excited.
"I plan to capture it" Andre said in a determined tone.
Daisuke, Green, and even Pikachu looked at Andre in a bit of shock. Andre just smiled with determination in his eyes.
The group made it to the final ladder, "Alright this one is a bit longer of a climb down" Andre explained.
Andre, Daisuke, who had Pikachu on his shoulder, and Green made their way down a long ladder.
"This is a very long climb, and it is only getting darker" Green stated as the group continued to climb down this prolonged ladder.
The group finally reached the bottom floor of the cave but it was very dark with a faint light in the distance.
"It's so dark" Daisuke stated.
"The ladder leads us to this small corridor, but just follow the light and that will lead us to the main floor" Andre explained.
The group made their way down the long corridor as the light got brighter and brighter, they went through the small entrance and saw the lowest portion of the cave in whole.
"The lake is beautiful as it lights up this cave nicely" Green complimented.
"Yes very large area, no wonder that latter was so long" Daisuke said.
"And notice beyond the lake" Andre pointed with excitement.
The group looked and on the other side of the lake was a small hill where the wall was lightly lit up revealing a pokemon inside the wall.
"Articuno?" Green said in shock.
"It is here!" Andre said with joy.
"It's frozen in the wall" Daisuke observed.
"Here's the plan; we will capture Lapras for Green, then use Lapras to cross the lake to get to the other side. I will then use my pokemon to release Articuno from the ice where I will proceed to capture it" Andre said determined.
"Well let's get to it" Daisuke said grabbing the golden rod.
"Actually, why don't you do it Green?" Daisuke said holding out the rod to Green.
"Yes, I want to be the one to capture Lapras" Green said with excitement.
Green casted the rod into the lake successfully.
"Great, now the second you feel a tug, you tug, after that start reeling away" Daisuke said.
Just then the rod was jerked down causing Green to step forward a bit before catching herself as she tugged back. Green began to reel the rod but began to struggle.
Green quickly handed the rod to Daisuke who started to reel in the pokemon.
Daisuke began to struggle, "Get ready Green" Daisuke said as he managed to release enough strength to pull in a very large blue pokemon that appeared in front of the group. The large blue pokemon had four fins, a long neck, and a non-sharp spiked shell on its back.
"It's Lapras! Bulbasaur come out" Green shouted with joy as Bulbasaur appeared.
"Bulbasaur, Pikachu get ready" Green commanded with determination.
Lapras calmly looked at the group, Bulbasaur and Pikachu stood in position to battle but Green was hesitant.
Green approached the Lapras to attempt to pet the water pokemon.
"Such an elegant beauty" Green said reaching her hand out.
"Lapras" Lapras calmly said as she leaned in to let Green pet her.
"Wow, Lapras has already taken a liking to Green" Andre smiled.
"Good, Green use a poke ball" Daisuke said.
"Lapras, would you like to travel with me?" Green questioned the Lapras while holding out a pokeball.
Lapras willingly touched the pokeball and was absorbed into it, the pokeball barely shook before it stopped indicating Lapras had been caught.
"Alright I caught a Lapras" Green smiled with joy as Bulbasaur and Pikachu also smiled.
"Good job Green" Daisuke said with a smile.
"Very nice" Andre complimented.
"Now let's go get Articuno" Andre said pumped up.
Just then Lapras's pokeball had a blue outline around it suddenly.
"What the?" Green questioned as the pokeball suddenly disappeared.
"My Lapras? Where did she go?!" Green shouted in dismay.
"So sudden" Andre said in shock.
"Up there!" Daisuke shouted pointing to the hill beyond the lake.
On the hill right in front of the wall where Articuno was frozen stood a figure holding Green's pokeball with Lapras in it.
The figure was a bipedal figure with a purple face, blonde hair, and a red dress.
"That's a Jynx" Daisuke confirmed with his pokedex.
"Great it took Lapras" Andre said in dismay.
Just then Jynx's eyes began to glow a bright blue as a bright blue outlined appeared around Jynx.
Jynx suddenly appeared in front of the group; Green, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu in particular.
Jynx's right fist began to glow bright blue, as Jynx's left hand still contained the pokeball, punching Bulbasaur sending the grass pokemon flying backwards crashing hard fainted.
"Bulbasaur!" Green shouted in dismay running to her pokemon.
"That was ice punch, Pikachu use thunderbolt" Daisuke commanded, but before Pikachu could act Jynx grasped Pikachu with psychic slamming the electric pokemon into the ground and then into the side of an ice pillar.
"Pikachu!" Daisuke shouted in dismay as Pikachu was struggling to get up.
"Now it's using psychic" Andre said as both he and Daisuke went for their pokeballs but were sent flying backwards by Jynx's psychic move.
"Damn it" Daisuke said getting back up.
"Look what it's doing" Andre said as he pointed towards Jynx. Jynx was using psychic to pick up a rock of ice, Jynx then shot it at the wall of ice Articuno was in.
The ice rock struck the ice wall causing it to begin to crack, the ice wall started cracking at a faster rate cracking the whole wall.
"Look at Articuno!" Daisuke shouted pointing to the bird.
Articuno's eyes opened and the legendary pokemon busted through the ice wall landing on top of the hill.
Articuno spread his wings revealing a large wingspan and showing how massive the ice pokemon was.
"That's a large bird" Daisuke said.
"Daisuke! Andre!" Green said as she ran back to the boys.
"Articuno!" Articuno screeched shaking the lowest portion of the cave.
"You two sit back, the bird is mine" Andre said with fire in his eyes.
"Aerodactyl, let's go" Andre said as the large prehistoric winged creature appeared.
Meanwhile…
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS! We will depart in 5 minutes!" The captain said over the loud intercom so the whole island could hear.
The sound of the intercom woke Kite up, "Damn so loud" Kite said lazily getting up.
"I wonder if they are on the deck" Kite wondered as he walked out of their room.
Kite searched everywhere on the boat and noticed that his friends were not onboard.
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS! We will now depart!" The captain said over the loud intercom.
"Crap I need to let the captain know" Kite said rushing toward the cockpit banging on the door.
Kite was me by first mate Hector questioning what Kite was doing.
"I need to speak with the captain, my friends are not onboard" Kite said quickly.
"I see, but we are already departing" Hector said as the boat began to move but was suddenly stopped.
"We can't leave any passengers" the Captain chimed in.
"Go find your friends, but do it quickly as a storm is brewing" the Captain said and pointed out the window. Large storm clouds were forming to their left and closing in.
"Got it!" Kite said as he ran out the cockpit.
Once Kite made it to the deck a loud boom occurred shaking the whole island causing the boat to shake from the tide.
Meanwhile in the cave…
"Wow that hyper beam just blasted through two floors!" Andre said in amazement as rocks were falling from above.
The group avoided the large rocks and continued to watch the battle between Articuno and Andre's Aerodactyl.
"Aerodactyl use iron head" Andre commanded, Aerodactyl became surrounded by white energy, showing only a black outline, and rocketed towards Articuno.
Articuno easily avoided the attack looking like a glimmer, "I'm sure that move was agility" Daisuke stated.
"Aerodactyl use stone edge" Andre commanded, large sharp stones appeared spiraling around Aerodactyl, the prehistoric bird then shot the sharp stones rapidly towards Articuno.
Articuno used agility to become a glimmer and avoid each of the stones and quickly appearing in front of Aerodactyl.
Before anyone could say anything, Articuno glowed a bright blue and then formed a large light blue ball of energy in his beak and shot a large bright light blue energy beam of ice.
The beam surrounded Aerodactyl and froze the pokemon solid as well as knocking him out.
"Aerodactyl!" Andre shouted as he recalled his frozen pokemon before crashing into the ground.
"Damn that was sheer cold" Andre said in more amazement.
Articuno then screeched loud again and shot a very large orange beam upwards blasting a hole through the other floor and the roof of the cave causing more rocks to fall and the whole cave beginning to collapse.
Articuno then flew through the hole and was now outside.
"Charizard let's go quick, Daisuke I'll leave Jynx to you" Andre shouted as the large lizard pokemon with wings appeared, Andre jumped on Charizard and they flew through the hole as well chasing after Articuno.
"Got it, Charmeleon let's go, Pidgeotto you too" Daisuke shouted as Charmeleon and Pidgeotto appeared.
"Pidgeotto get Green and Pikachu out of here" Daisuke shouted as the rocks continued to fall.
"Daisuke what are you going to do?" Green questioned worried as more rocks fell.
"I'm going to get your Lapras back" Daisuke said towards Green determined.
"Now go!" Daisuke shouted, Green, who was holding Pikachu, got onto Pidgeotto and the flying type flew her through the hole out of the cave.
"Pidgeotto come back for me" Daisuke shouted as he gestured a thumbs up to his pokemon, Pidgeotto chirped in response as he took Green outside safely.
"Now let's get the pokeball back Charmeleon" Daisuke said pumped up as Charmeleon stared Jynx down preparing for battle.
Jynx threw the pokeball into the lake and used psychic to shoot Charmeleon back into an ice rock.
"Charmeleon!" Daisuke shouted in dismay as the lizard pokemon got up a little hazed.
Jynx then used psychic to appear in front of Charmeleon as the ice pokemon's right fist began to glow light blue.
Jynx then punched Charmeleon hard in the gut crashing the lizard pokemon back into the same ice rock breaking it.
"Now end it with psyshock" a strange female voice shouted, Jynx then formed a ball of purple energy in each hand.
"Charmeleon quick use dragon rage" Daisuke quickly commanded, Charmeleon shot a large blue and black dragon shaped beam at Jynx who was still charging her attack.
The beam collided with Jynx sending the ice pokemon flying backwards.
"Alright Charmeleon" Daisuke said giving praise to his pokemon.
Jynx stood back up glaring towards Charmeleon and Daisuke.
"Not bad at all" the same female voice said as a teenage girl, probably the same age as Daisuke, with long light blue hair appeared, she wore a small white zipper coat and some light blue jeans.
"Who are you?" Daisuke questioned.
"Dang, she is pretty" Daisuke thought to himself glancing at her beauty.
"I would stay and battle some more, but this cave is collapsing" the girl said as she grabbed a hold of Jynx. Jynx then used psychic which caused them both to vanish.
"They must have escaped" Daisuke said looking around cautiously.
"Crap! The pokeball!" Daisuke shouted to himself as the number of rocks falling increased causing the cave to shake, rocks were crashing into the ice and falling into the lake as well.
"Charmeleon return, Dratini I'm counting on you" Daisuke commanded as he recalled Charmeleon while calling out Dratini.
"Dratini take me under and use agility to gain speed" Daisuke commanded, Daisuke jumped on Dratini's back taking a huge breath as the dragon type dove into the water.
Dratini used agility making the duo look like a glimmer in the water heading towards the pokeball.
Daisuke noticed the large water pokemon such as Lapras, Gyarados, Seaking, and Dewgong's, "Wow so many strong pokemon" Daisuke thought to himself as he and Dratini reached the bottom of the lake.
Daisuke barely had any oxygen left as he grabbed the pokeball and signaled to Dratini to head back to the surface.
Just then a large Tentacruel appeared in front of Dratini and attempted to wrap the pokemon and trainer.
Dratini managed to use agility to avoid the tentacles as they were losing oxygen fast.
"Use twister!" Daisuke managed to say with the last amount of oxygen as he was starting to black out.
Dratini this time shot a large horizontal twister towards Tentacruel blasting the water pokemon back, Dratini then used the current the twister had created to shoot the two towards the surface.
Daisuke was barely staying conscious as he noticed the light of the surface.
Dratini shot out of the lake fast high into the air throwing Daisuke even higher into the air.
Daisuke regained full sense with Green's pokeball still in his hand.
"Dratini return" Daisuke shouted as he recalled his free falling dragon type.
Daisuke was still in midair and began to fall back towards the cave, rocks were falling all around Daisuke as the whole right Island was about to collapse on itself.
Just then Pidgeotto shot through the hole at the top of the cave and flew around the rocks catching Daisuke on his back.
"Alright Pidgeotto!" Daisuke shouted in joy as he adjusted himself on Pidgeotto's back.
Pidgeotto began to fly up towards the hole in the top of cave avoiding falling rocks in the process.
"Let's go!" Daisuke shouted holding Green's pokeball in the air with his right arm as Pidgeotto pulled his wings in and shot towards the hole.
Meanwhile on the shore…
"It's using sheer cold, Charizard counter with fire blast" Andre commanded, Articuno shot a large bright light blue energy beam of ice towards Charizard.
Charizard shot a large fireball from his mouth towards Articuno's beam. The ball of fire then formed into a 大 shape and collided with the beam of ice causing a very bright and large explosion.
"Charizard use dragon claw" Andre commanded, Charizard's claws grew in size glowing a bright green.
Charizard began to swipe ferociously at the legendary pokemon, Articuno was using agility to easily avoid each swipe.
At this point, everyone who was riding on the boat was witnessing the battle from the front deck.
Kite ran up to Green who was on the shore a little ways a way from Andre witnessing this battle.
"Green what is going on? Where is Daisuke?" Kite questioned as he noticed Pikachu and recalled his slightly injured pokemon.
"Long story short, that cave is collapsing due to Articuno and Daisuke is still in there getting my Lapras I caught" Green said in dismay.
Just then the group noticed the Island on the right side began to crumble and then started to collapse.
"Daisuke!" Kite and Green shouted in unison.
Just then Kite noticed something fly out the top of the Island right before it collapsed.
"What the?" Kite questioned as he looked closer.
Kite noticed Daisuke was riding on Pidgeotto flying in towards the group holding Green's pokeball in the air.
"Hey! Kite! Green!" Daisuke shouted as he was indicating he was alright.
"Daisuke!" Kite and Green shouted in unison.
"Green I got Lapras back!" Daisuke shouted as he held the pokeball high.
Green was speechless.
"Daisuke! Way to go!" Andre shouted giving Daisuke a thumbs up.
"Thanks! Now capture that bird!" Daisuke shouted in an encouraging tone replying with a thumbs up of his own.
"Leave the rest to me!" Andre shouted with determination.
"Charizard let's end this with flare blitz" Andre commanded, Charizard flew high into the sky and began to surround himself in flames.
Articuno noticed this and pulled his wings in shooting towards Charizard at lightning speed.
The flames surrounding Charizard turned into a bright blue and Charizard shot towards the incoming Articuno. Articuno became surrounded by a bright blue aura flying even faster.
"That's brave bird" Daisuke shouted.
"Charizard! Give it all you got!" Andre shouted with determination, the bright blue flames surrounding Charizard became much large and turned into a bright blue flaming energy.
The two bright blue energy covered Pokemon crashed into each other causing a large explosion and smoke to fill the sky.
Both pokemon fell to the shore hard.
"Go ultraball" Andre shouted as he threw a black pokeball with yellow stripes on top.
The ultraball absorbed Articuno and began to shake violently for a few seconds while Andre waited anxiously.
The ultraball stopped indicating Articuno had been caught, "ALRIGHT!" Andre shouted with joy as he ran and picked up the ultraball and ran to his injured Charizard who was barely keeping consciousness.
"Charizard we caught a legendary" Andre said with excitement as Charizard roared in victory.
"Congrats Andre!" Daisuke said as he ran up and congratulated the trainer who was recalling his Charizard.
"Thanks for coming down to the cave with me, also congrats on getting your Lapras Green" Andre said with a smile.
"Well it was with the help of Daisuke" Green smiled holding Lapras's pokeball.
"Man I sure did miss a lot" Kite said stretching some more from his earlier nap.
"Kite? My name is Andre, nice to meet you" Andre said as he held is hand out.
"Nice to meet you too Andre" Kite said as he shook Andre's hand.
"Well we better get back to the boat" Andre said as the group headed back onto the boat.
"Well that was very exciting, but glad to see everyone back on board" the captain said with a smile as he returned to the cockpit.
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS! We are now departing from the Seafoam Islands to Cinnabar Island, it will be about another hour so enjoy the ride" the captain said as the boat departed from the Seafoam Islands that looked like a battlefield now.
The boat barely beat the storm as they were now in route to their destination.
The group went to the food hall of the boat and began to eat. Andre, Daisuke, Kite, and Green all sat at the same table and began to devour their food.
Daisuke noticed a girl with long light blue hair quickly leave the food hall.
"Hey that hair looks familiar…" Daisuke thought to himself as he excused himself from the group and ran out the food hall towards the girl.
Daisuke ran out to the front deck and noticed the girl running up the stairs to the second floor of the boat.
Daisuke quickly ran to the opposite stairs and ran up them quickly.
Daisuke then ran into the unsuspecting girl as she jumped when she noticed him.
"How did you get there?" the girl questioned shocked.
"You are that girl from the cave, what is your name?" Daisuke questioned.
