Chapter 29

There once was a mouse

Ok. At this point the show focuses mostly on the tournament. Presumably, so are all the guards. Crime has stopped in the city but what about the area around the arena. A recent crime spree has struck beacon! Thousands in nick-nacks and other small items have been taken. Fortunately, four of Beacon's best detectives are on the case!

I planned on tackling the fall of Beacon in a little bit, so there's this fun arc to start the year with. Enjoy.

"What?!" My entire team yells at Ozpin.

He merely continues his cup of coffee.

Eventually, he sets it down. "Look. I know you four have been through alot lately, but we need some people to catch this thief. As the only team not participating in the tournament you four were the best pick. No arguing, the team assigned to the case are waiting at the entrance."

We all moaned and got up to head to the entrance of Beacon.

Once there we were met up with who we would be working with. "Damit Grif! If I've told you once, i've told you a thousand times! No smoking on a he job." I smiled, glad to see their familiar bickering.

"Oh come on sarge, what's the worst that could happen?" Grid asked blowing out a cloud of smoke with the question. "It's not like my smoking will distract us from a bunch of grim, letting them invade the city and causing the death of hundreds of people." We all laughed. Good thing that could never happen.

After our laughter had died down we went to a white board that Sarge had set up near by. "Alright, so here's the plan. My team is going to go around carrying guns and other weapons. You four will go and sneak around and let us know when we need to come and rescue you."

While they get ready to start their part of the "plan" all of my team turns to look at me. I just mouth 'just let them' and they all nod. "Well, see you kids later." Sarge grunts as he hefts two rocket launchers onto his shoulders.

As he walks away Nathan turns to me and asks, "alright, so what's the real plan?" I walk of a bit and rub my chin, pondering what we should do.

After a moment's thought I come up with an idea. "Ok, so we'll all split up. We can cover more ground that way one person will walk in front of the booths and attract attention. Don't make yourself stand out to much, just enough so that most people won't notice the other person. They will be in the shadows, seeing if there's any suspicious activity." They all nodded and we ended up splitting up into Gabby and Nathan on one team and Andrea and I on another.

-X-

Andrea was the stealth person, obviously. Her semblance practically made her a chameleon! To help balance this I didn't really know to attack attention. "Wow, this apple is really delicious. What a great paper this is. Did you make this scroll yourself." I never really liked being the center of attention before.

Evidently, Andrea didn't like me being it either. "What the hell are you doing! You said you want to get attention off of me, not make yourself stand out!" Just as I was about to answer her some bumped into me. I turn to say excuse me but they were already gone.

It was then that I noticed they had dropped something. It was a little toy Beacon. What was odd was that it appeared to be a non purchasable model. I started to runs after the person quickly catching up to them before they realized I was after them. They too began to run, occasionally dropping some stolen goods along the way. They probably knew this way pretty good as I had a hard time keeping up with them. I would have too if I didn't use my semblance.

It eventually. Came clear that I really was no match for them. Just as he was about to turn a corner he hit something and fell. Andrea materialized and walked over to me. She bonked my head before going and lifting up the thief it was then that we finally got to see who it was.

"Thomas?!"

And that's it. So I just want to say thank you for everyone who is still following this story. I know it's been a while but I haven't had as much time for this now. But I promise you will get more chapters soon. Until next time.
