"What happened now?"

Nate's mind was still trying to catch up with the woman's words.

"I said that my sister was kidnapped."

Nate tried to focus but he knew he was internally screaming. The bar was thankfully too busy to notice the trio discussing future crimes. Nate couldn't believe what he heard. Maybe shouldn't have drank that much. He pushed the current half empty glass of alcohol away from himself for the little effect it had. Not like he didn't have two shots before it.

"No um... A bit after that."

The woman sighed with impatience but after a placating and sincere hand on her arm from Sophie, she continued on with only an eye roll to signify her annoyance with his drunkenness.

"A monster took her mister Ford. A diabolical and hideous being. I would've gotten her back by now but every time I tried... He just added to my pain... and hers. He is too strong for me mister Ford. I tried everything to get her back, but..."

The woman's voice faltered and her eyes welled with tears. She looked away for a moment to compose herself then looked straight back into his eyes as if pleading for his help, but determined nonetheless for the safety of her family. Nate's heart clenched at the thought of family, but it wasn't just the face of Sam he saw. There was also the thought of his team. As if on cue, Sophie turned her gaze on him for a second, compassion and understanding filling her eyes. She quickly focused again on the woman and spoke only important questions to the unstable woman.

"Why did your sister get kidnapped? How was she involved? And how did you know to find me?"

The woman hesitated as she drew in a shaky breath.

"I... We... Let's just say that my sister and I are good at what we do. We just began a business, well if you can call it that... We run similarly to you I suppose, in our own way of course."

A wry smile broke the sad features the woman wore for so long.

"We help people who need it. Need us. But it's hard sometimes and some of the ways we help aren't always... Legal."

Sophie stood straighter in her seat, shock written on her features.

"You're... Thieves?"

The woman turned to her and gave a sheepish smile.

"I figured you would understand. At least from what I've heard."

Nate broke from his stupor to study the woman for a minute, suspicion painting his features in blatant observation.

"That's a fair way to skip over her previous question. How did you know to find us?"

"I had nowhere else to go. I was forced to come here."

Curiosity peaked in Nate's mind as Sophie said the words soon to follow out of his own mouth.

"What do you mean?"

"The man who took her told me to come to you. Specifically. He threatened to kill her if I didn't. Normally I would fight tooth and nail to get her back but I'd already tried and... I needed help and I didn't want... I couldn't just let her die mister Ford..."

"Who was this man?"

"The man that took my sister was the most evil man I had ever met..."

"Who. Was. It?"

"He said you would stand a chance against him and you had something he wanted. Said you knew about..."

The woman hesitated and dropped her voice to a whisper. Her eyes were wide with curiosity even around the red rimmed brightness of her former tears.

"Said you knew about the world around us. What it really was. What it really contained... He spoke of you as a long lost friend stuck in a rivalry with him. He... Well he went by the name of Moreau. Damien Moreau."
