"But never have I been a calm sea. I have always been a storm."

By Stevie Nicks

Forks, Washington seemed dull now that Bella had flown off to her honeymoon; which was good considering the last few years of drama this town has had because of her. Though, I would admit I did miss that mousey girl. When she would come back, she would be an immortal creature doomed and cursed to walk this Earth forever but at least she would have Edward Cullen and his family.

In the weeks following the wedding, everything seemed humanly normal. The school was a major distraction and so was Jacob; it was clear that Jacob disliked school and thought it was useless, but I made him focus and apply himself to his classes. It would be there last year of school and it would be better if Jacob actually showed up for his classes.

But there was an annoyingly human problem pestering me these days and it was some human girl from the tribe; still human and oblivious to the fact that there were supernatural creatures running amuck. She had the biggest crush on Jacob and didn't care for the fact that Jacob had an obvious girlfriend. Jacob just ignored her altogether and I tried to make it clear to the girl that Jacob was completely off-limits, but she was persistent.

The boys found it funny, well, except Seth.

Seth actually disliked this girl—oh, her name was Cathy. Seth not liking anybody was well, rare, so that information was enough for me to not like Cathy. She seemed sweet when she wasn't flirting her ass off with my boyfriend and feigning ignorance whenever I confronted her or the boys did.

It was almost the end of August and I was cuddling with Jacob in our tiny home; it was the only place we wouldn't be bothered by anyone. Though we promised each other that we wouldn't try to have sex until after we graduated High school, but that didn't necessarily mean we couldn't do other things.

Right now, we were enjoying each other's warmth—well, I was enjoying Jacob's insane warmth. Jacob was lazily flipping through channels trying to find something decent to watch. It was late in the afternoon, homework was finished for the day and patrols were over with it. We had taken a small nap together and now we were here.

"Are you worried about her?" Jacob asked quietly as he kissed my forehead. I was curled into his chest, legs swung over his and his arm around me. I was wrapped around because his warmth was always something I sought after.

I knew who he was asking about, "Of course I am," I responded shifting around in his arms so I could look up at him, "The outcome is simple but there are two outcomes that Carlisle told me about. Not everyone accepts the venom easily," I tell him and feel his grasp on me tighten, "Her body could reject the change and she could die…and though Carlisle did say the chances were low, it's still a possibility."

Jacob still cared for Bella but her decisions have strained their relationship a lot. Jacob could understand her reasoning but a part of him didn't want to and would rather ignore her existence all at once. I told him he was dumb for cutting her off like that but Jacob was a stubborn wolf. It was upsetting watching their relationship wither though Bella didn't feel the same way as Jacob; she still cared for him greatly.

Hopefully, in the future, Jacob will come to forgive her.

"I haven't seen much of your sister," I mused softly with a grin, "Well, Rachel, anyway."

Jacob's face twisted into a scowl, "Don't remind me of that," He almost looked disgusted as he muttered, "I can't believe that stupid mutt imprinted on my older sister." He grumbled looking like a sullen child.

"Paul will take good care of her ya know," I gave his cheek a light kiss, "He's been secretly dreaming of the day he meant his mate, Jacob, and Rachel seems very happy," I smirked lightly, "I can't say the same for Rebecca." I sang with a laugh.

That made Jacob snort in amusement, "Yeah, I gotta admit watching her scowl at Rachel and Paul is pretty funny." He shook his head and sighed, "Do you wanna join their picnic at the beach? The pack is going to be there." He asked as he began to run his fingers through my hair.

I groaned in delight and leaned into him, "Not when you start doing that." I whined lightly.

Jacob chuckled, "Claire is going to be there." Ah, yes, Emily's niece came over for a visit and ended up being the imprintee of Quil. I found it very odd how somehow could soul bond with a young child but it seems like all Quil wanted to do was just be there and be the reason Claire even smiles or laughs.

Still, it was kinda creepy and weird.

Claire captured my heart because she was so cute and sweet; Quil found it easier to leave Claire in my care whenever he was out on patrols. Claire often slept in my bed and was often found glued to my side whenever Quil wasn't around, it seemed like despite how young Claire was, she did seem to realize how she gravitated towards Quil a lot.

Anyway, I think a lot of my motherly instincts came out whenever Claire was about and it seems to make Jacob think about how good of a mother I would be whenever we had children. The thought of having a child with Jacob would always be attractive but not right now, right now school was the main focus.

"I guess we could stop by," I mused softly, "Is there going to be food?" I asked innocently.

Jacob laughed, "Of course, it wouldn't be a picnic otherwise." I got up and began to dress—I had only been wearing one of Jacob's shirts and panties at the moment. I slipped on my bra, some black sweats, and Jacob ended up demanding I wear a hoodie since it was getting very chilly in the reserve.

Right as we were about to leave, Jacob put a beanie on my head muttering about, "I don't want you getting sick or something."

I just rolled my eyes at him and we left our cozy cabin. It wasn't a long trek to the beach, maybe ten or fifteen-minute walk but when we got there things seemed to be in full swing. The boys were playing soccer, well, minus Quil who was hovering over Claire. The women seemed to be prepping food on large platters and setting them on the long, white table. The wind seemed to have died down and the sun was beating down providing some much-needed warmth.

"Princess!" Gabriel spotted me and waved, "So glad you emerged from your cave to join us!" He teased as Embry laughed from beside him.

You just rolled your eyes and greeted the rest of the boys—though most were too focused on the match to respond. "Wanna join, Jake?" Jared asked, "We're uneven."

"Sure." Jacob agreed and pressed a hot kiss to my temple, "Try not to wander off." He winked before running towards the boys'. I scoffed—so, I had a habit of wandering off and Jacob was still super protective and paranoid since the battle with the newborns that happened months ago. It reminded me of Aria and how she had yet to show up.

However long she needed, that was fine. She knew she had friends here.

I joined the females in prepping food. I received a more vocal welcoming with the females than with the males. "Hey, foxy lady," Rachel and Rebecca beamed at me and both hugged me, "Jacob finally convinced your homebody self to leave the cabin, eh?" Rebecca grinned slyly.

Rachel smiled, "I wouldn't leave either. It's so cute and cozy." I didn't miss the dreamy look she sent towards Paul.

Rebecca gagged in response and I laughed.

"Serena, can you help prep? These two can't boil water to save their lives." Emily teased.

The twins whined in response as I got put to work. "We have this thing called a microwave," Rebecca was telling Emily as the older Black twin put together sandwiches, "And it does a really nice job in heating our freezer meals."

Emily made a disgusted face, "You girls should really learn how to cook. Those freezer meals aren't as good as homemade meals. No wonder why you're both so thin."

I snorted, "They almost burned the house down make a cup noodle."

Rebecca shot me a playful glare while Rachel looked sheepish, "I forgot to add water, big deal." Rebecca shrugged but there was a faint blush on her cheeks. The females all laughed or chuckle and I noted that Leah's presence was missing. She was probably caught up in school again but hopefully, she would make it to the picnic in time to eat.

I was just about to finish making a massive bowl of potatoes salad when my phone started to ring a familiar tune—Edward's ringtone. I paused and wiped my hands on a clean towel before excusing myself to take the call. "Hello?" I answered walking a distance away so the wolves couldn't hear.

"Serena,' It was Bells!

"Bella!" I sighed in relief, "Finally, I get a call, are you okay?" I asked quietly.

It was quiet for a few seconds before she uttered out, "I need your help." Her voice was shaking and she seemed upset.

I was confused and an unknown dread filled my stomach, "What's wrong?" I asked her as I caught Jacob looking my way. I turned away from his gaze, "You don't sound okay." I added hastily.

She was quiet but I could hear her erratic breathing, "I…I think I'm pregnant."

Oh shit.

It was late the next day; Jacob and I were hopping into his Rabbit to head over to the Cullen's house. I felt like I was about to die of anxiety. How was this possible? Aren't vampires dead? How could they possibly have sperm after a hundred years? How was Bella able to conceive a child? Jesus, this just turned into a really bad horror movie. Jacob had been silent though I didn't miss the daunted look on his face—our thoughts were similar.

"I'll kill him," Jacob said calmly as we drove to the Cullen house.

I glanced over at Jacob, "Would you?" I asked—my voice wavering. Would she die from this…baby? Was it even a baby? Was it even human? I didn't want to think about losing my best friend but I knew what Bella wanted and Jacob knew it as well.

"In a heartbeat," Jacob responded quietly.

It was a quiet car-ride to the Cullen house. When we got there, Bree was outside looking gloomy. "Hey, punk," I greeted her as I got out of the car, "Why are you out here?" I asked her curiously. Bree flinched most likely from Jacob's supposed wet dog stench.

She eyed Jacob, "Is this your mate?" She asked.

I nodded, "Yeah, this is Jacob."

"Hi," Bree mumbled.

Jacob managed to offer a small smile, "Hey, how is she?" He asked her.

Bree's expression seemed crest-fallen, "We're not sure…Carlisle isn't sure. They just got back a few hours ago but she looks so…" Bree trailed off as Carlisle came out to greet us.

"Hey, doc," I smiled at him softly though I could see the worry in his face, "She up there?" I asked.

Carlisle gave a soft smile, "Yes, she's been waiting for you," The doctor vampire turned to Jacob, "Hello, Jacob."

"Carlisle." Jacob greeted with a nod—Jacob held Carlisle in high respect after Carlisle patched me up when that newborn crushed my ribs.

Carlisle motioned for us to go inside; I didn't need to be told twice. I hurried through the familiar home to the living room to be greeted with a group of worried and tense vampires. Bella was sitting on the couch though she was hard to see because of Rosalie. I sniffed and recoiled at the strange stench in the air—it wasn't a vampire though.

"Rose?" I frowned moving towards the blonde vampire.

"Serena…" Bella sighed in what seemed in relief.

Rose moved to the side and I gasped, "Bells!" She looked sickly and pale—she had always been thin and petit but now, it was as if she had stopped eating in the weeks that she's been gone. Her cheeks were slightly sunken in and her eyes were dark as if she hadn't gotten a good night's rest in a few days.

"I'm glad you came," Bella smiled though she looked scared.

"You look like shit," Jacob muttered earning a snarl from Rosalie.

Bella smiled though and looked over at him, "I'm surprised you came." She said softly.

Jacob replied, "I'm here to kill your husband if you lose your life over this…thing." Bella flinched and I glared at my insensitive boyfriend.

"Jacob!" I snapped.

Jacob clenched his jaw, "How is this even possible?" Jacob asked and I didn't miss the dark glare aimed at Edward though it seemed Edward didn't care. I sat down next to Bella and held her cold hands.

"We're not sure," Carlisle responded.

"What is it?" Jacob demanded.

"Jacob…" I warned softly watching Bella shrink as her baby was referred to as a thing and it.

"We can't tell yet…she's still early on in the pregnancy but it seems to be growing at a fast rate; we're hoping in a week we'll be able to see what it is," Carlisle answered Jacob's question.

"I can't see it either," Alice spoke up quietly while glancing at Bella, "And I can't see Bella's future anymore," Alice added in slowly.

I tensed up and looked at Bells, "How are you?" I asked gently.

She looked at up with wide eyes, "Tired and cold…it seems like the baby takes up most of my body warmth." She gestured to the abundance of blankets on her, "Which is why I'm basically a burrito right now." She tried cracking a joke but there was no humor behind it, "I'm always hungry and it takes up most of what I eat…"

"And that's why you're thinner," I muttered softly.

"We've been researching legends, but there isn't much to go on." Carlisle commented in a grave voice, "All we know is that it's strong and it's fast-growing."

I frowned, "Strong? What do you mean by that?" I asked out loud before turning to Bella, "Bells?"

Bella winced before quietly removing some of the blankets surrounding her until her stomach was in view—there wasn't a bump yet but I watched as Bella lifted her shirt to reveal her bruised stomach. I gasped quietly, "The baby is doing this?" I whispered in shock.

"It isn't a baby, Sea!" Jacob snapped angrily, "We don't know what it is!"

"What else can it be?" I snapped back.

Jacob turned his anger onto Carlisle, "Why haven't you done anything? Take it out of her!" Jacob demanded Carlisle.

"This is none of your business, dog!" Rosalie snarled angrily.

"Stop talking about her as if she wasn't here!" I stood up furiously, "This fighting isn't good for Bells!" I said with a glare.

"The fetus isn't good for Bella," Alice remarked with a faint look of disgust aimed towards the baby growing in Bella's stomach.

"Say the word, Alice, baby. It's just a little baby!" Rose snapped back at her adopted sister with anger and betrayal.

"We're not sure what it is," Alice hissed, "And what kind of baby does this?" Alice pointed to Bella who seemed quiet and small against the grey couch. I instantly sat down and held her hands again reassuring her that I was here and on her side.

"Enough," I spoke firmly and strongly, "Enough of the bickering."

At my words, the tension seemed to die down a little. This whole time and Eddie boy hadn't uttered a single word but I could tell by the expression on his face that this baby was not wanted by him—in his mind, this baby was a monster causing his wife harm.

"Carlisle, you gotta do something." Jacob looked at the oldest vampire.

"No," Bella's voice suddenly spoke—strong and non-wavering, "It's not his decision and it isn't any of yours," Bella spoke clearly and I saw the expression on Eddie boy's face, "So, drop it," Bella said.

"Jacob, I need to talk to you." Eddie boy suddenly spoke and practically sprinted out the living room.

Jacob had been staring at Bella—he was at a loss and when he heard Edward's word the werewolf muttered, "Damn right you do." And followed the vampire down the stairs.

Once those two were gone, the others began to clear out. "Come on, Bree, let's go hunt." Emmett lightly punched the younger vampire in the arm.

"But I want to stay here with Bella and Serena," Bree mumbled.

Emmett shook his head, "Give those two some time to talk."

"Are you hungry?" Esme asked Bella and I and braved a sweet smile.

I smiled up at Momma Cullen, "You know I always come here on an empty stomach, Esme." She seemed happy to hear those words, "I'm sure Bella here has given you a chance to try out your Vietnamese cooking, right?" I asked.

Esme chuckled, "You're right about that, Bella eats just about anything I make for her."

Bella blushed, "You always made good food…but with my eating disorder it was hard but not anymore with the baby."

Esme's expression twitched the tiniest bit but it was gone all too soon, "I'll make your favorites." Esme excused herself to the kitchen. Rosalie was left and took a seat across from Bella with a sigh.

"You okay?" I asked her.

"It's hard," Rosalie admitted, "What's she asking me to do," Bella gave Rosalie a sheepish look, "But I understand her because I would be doing the same thing she is if I were in her situation."

"What are you thinking, Bells?" I asked her with a serious look, "What's going on in that head of yours?" I questioned softly.

Bella twiddled with her fingers and remained quiet for a few moments before responding, "If it does come down to the baby ending my life, I'm hoping that Carlisle will be able to turn me at the last moment." Bella mumbles—her hands around her flat stomach.

"But I'm hopefully strong enough…" Bella whispers softly, "It may seem like a scary thing but it really isn't, ya know?" Bella looked up at me with tears in her eyes, "Everyone has their opinion and I know most of them want the baby to be taken out of me but I can't do that and I won't allow that. This," She gestures to her stomach, "Is a miracle and even if I won't live to see my baby grow at least I know he'll be in good hands." Bella mumbles and asks weakly, "Right?" But she's looking right at me.

I stare at her and don't hesitate to answer, "Jacob won't tolerate the baby if it does end up killing you."

"The baby is better off here," Rosalie adds in softly.

"Edward wouldn't want him." Bella looks upset and sad.

"Him?" I question.

Bella cracks a sincere smile and nods, "When I picture the baby, I see a boy."

"Could be a girl." I said with a smile, "I'm hoping for a girl that looks just like her momma."

Rosalie smiles too, "So do I, I can't stand another Edward running around." At her comment, Bella and I laugh.

"I guess we'll see in a few weeks what will happen," I say quietly as I squeeze Bella's hand, "And hope for the best." Bella smiled at me brightly—happy that someone else has her back on this situation and even though I don't want to lose my best friend…I could understand her choices even if others didn't.

I just hoped that this baby didn't kill her…

I do apologize for the wait. I have my reasons so, please bear with me. I'm getting the urge to update and type again, so hurray! We continue on with BD and I'm kinda eager to write the next chapter. I changed the timeline a bit though. Jacob didn't find out about Bella being sick until two weeks after but with Serena in the story, it was obvious that Bella would call her best friend for help so I had to change that bit. The next chapter will time skip two weeks and the pack won't know about Bella until the next chapter.

The pack just knows that Bella is sick and still in Rio.

So, the next chapter will be intense. Jacob going against the pack will happen but with Serena being thrown in, it'll be crazy. I can't wait and I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and see ya next time!
