CHAPTER 36

FROM DUSK UNTIL DAWN

KAI`S POV:

Looking into those red eyes, I saw Smithee and looked at him like he was trash. To be honest, he was trash. We stared at each other face to face. I walked up to him as he backed away a little. What's wrong with this guy? Is he scared or something? Our eyes locked again as I pulled out my sword, the only weapon I had. Smithee pulled out a pair of blades, each one made razor sharp to perfection. Behind me, I heard Kitty groan in pain again. Looking at her, I was hoping she would give me good luck by defeating Smithee, so the both of us would spend our lives the way we wanted to. I looked at Smithee again. This time he gave me an evil grin.

"You know, if you want to, we can end this now, and if I am made king of Ninjago, I will make you my right hand man," Smithee said.

"I will never end a fight," I said, "A ninja never quits. I will battle you until dawn. That is my faith and destiny."

"I bet it is. Only one of us can win, and I'm gonna make sure that's me."

"If anyone should win, it will be not only me, but the light Ninjago brings to shine down upon us."

Smithee laughed. "I beg to differ. You don't even have your team."

"I do have my team. They may not be here beside me, but their helping me fight."

"That doesn't make any sense."

"It might not to you, but this does."

I used my hand to punch him in the face. He used his foot to kick me in the side, knocking me down. We were ready. The battle has begun. I disappeared in front of him like a flash. I was right behind him, so while he was still looking at what was in front of him, I judo flipped him to the ground. I jumped on his stomach, holding out my fist to punch him, but he shot himself up from the ground and slung me across the room, making me slam into a wall. When I slid to the ground, Smithee started laughing, so I took out one of my blades and threw it at him. He dodged it and it hit a wall. Luckily, I had more with me for this type of serious fight. When he walked up close to me, I had to distract him so we could get out of this room. Once he got closer, I kicked him in the face pretty hard, making him trip over a piece of metal. I ran out of the room.

I knew I left Kitty in there, but I had a plan. I knew the guys would do anything to help me in this fight, so I wanted them to help me get Kitty out of here. I went back to the part of the cave where we saw the flash figures. I saw the guys taking down the last of them. Nick was hiding behind a rock the whole time, thinking about how much he should've never came here.

I walked up to my team. "Guys."

"Kai, what are you doing here?" Jay asked, "Your supposed to be fighting Smithee by now. It's already sundown. Are we too late?"

"No, I just needed to find you guys. Just down that corridor is Smithee`s chambers. The first thing you'll see is a row of dungeon cells, and the first one on your right will have Kitty in it. You guys need to get her out of here along with Nick. Find a safe place to hide them."

"Don't you think this would be a good time to call for help?" Cole asked.

"Sensei will know," I said, "Hurry! You guys need to get out of here and fight whatever's on the outside of the cave. Go! Now!"

The guys ran towards the chambers as I ran towards an empty place in the cave. This must be some sort of training room for Smithee`s army. I didn't see anyone inside. Before I knew it, I was pushed to the ground. I looked to see Smithee behind me. I hopped up and looked at him. If looks could kill, Smithee would be dead. I wish he would demolish already.

"Come to get me again?" I asked.

"I won't stop until sunrise," Smithee said, "I will make sure that I win. You will never have the opportunity to defeat me. Evil always wins."

"Your wrong, Smithee. Evil never wins. Good does. Where there is darkness, there is always light."

"Who came up with that stupid saying?"

With the anger rushing through my body, I kicked Smithee in the mouth, forming a cut to place itself there. He tried to punch me, but I dodged it. My legs kept hitting his sides, knocking him down every time he got up.

"Growing weak already?" I asked, "Looks like you don't have a shot at winning."

Before I could say anything else, he punched me in the lip. Looks like it was payback time for me. Before I knew it, he disappeared in a flash. I didn't see where he went. Looking around, I decided to search the cave until I found him. The battle isn't over yet.

COLE'S POV:

We ran inside the chambers and found Kitty in the first cell. The first person to run in there was Nick.

"Kitty," Nick said, "Are you alright? Can you hear me?"

"Nick, you... you shouldn't... be here," Kitty said.

"Its okay. We gonna get you out of here. Help me out, guys."

Jay and I carried Kitty out of the chambers. Once we were outside, we found an empty spot next to the cave and placed Kitty there. She looked pretty bad. Whatever Smithee did you her, he's doing the same thing to Kai.

"Let's hope that Kai wins," I said.

"We need to get these two back to the village," Jay said.

"Kai said to keep these two in a safe place," Zane said.

"At least one of you can take me back," Nick said, "You guys were right. This was way too dangerous for me. I should've just stayed back at the village."

"None of us can leave," I said, "You made the choice to come with us and now you have no choice but to stay with us. We promised Kai that we'd stay by his side. None of us can leave this spot unless we're face to face with an enemy."

"You may not be able to take Nick back, but I can give you a hand," a voice from behind us said. We turned around to see Zeah, giggling when we looked at her.

"Zeah, what are you doing here?" Zane asked, "You need to get back to the village now. The battle between Kai and Smithee has just started."

"I know, but Garmedon and Wu have asked me to retrieve Nick and take him back to the village. I must do what I am told. As you once said, I must listen to my Sensei."

"I did say that, didn't I?"

"Uh, do you two mind saving the love scene for later?" Jay asked, "We're kind of in the middle of a situation. If you want Nick, take him. One less hand to hold."

"Of course," Zeah said, placing Nick in her arms, "Tell Kai that I said good luck, and I hope good wins."

"Good always wins," Zane said, "Do not worry about us. We will be alright."

"Come back to me in one piece, my love." Zeah left with Nick. One less person we have to deal with.

"Better warn Kai that Nick`s safe and sound back at the village," I said, but when I said that, a bunch of Smithsons came out in attack mode. We took out our swords. "Looks like that'll have to wait. We've got a problem on our hands. Let's do this, guys."

"Ninja Go!" we all said, beginning the fight.

NYA`S POV:

A bunch of those Smithsons came inside the village and started raiding and breaking into homes and stores throughout the village. We may just be old ninjas or allies, like me, but we could still fight. Caleb was fighting beside me, helping me fight off these things and turning them into the dust they deserve to be.

Somewhere in the middle of the battle, I started growing weak. I looked at Caleb and saw he was getting tired as well. For some reason, it looks like he started to glow, while I was feeling some sort of change going through my body. What's going on? I can't be going through something while I was in the middle of battling. Somehow, the Smithsons were closer to the other side, fighting with Sensei Wu and the others. The light was shining bright on Caleb and finally stopped. The changes stopped swirling around my body.

Was what that all about? For some reason, I had the urge to spin. I kept spinning and spinning, going faster and faster until suddenly, I did something I thought I would never do before. I did spinjitzu. I was turning around and around like a tornado would and I took down some Smithsons. When I stopped, I was dizzy and almost fell, but Caleb caught me just in time, wearing a ninja gi.

I looked in Caleb`s eyes. "What happened?"

"You did spinjitzu," Caleb said, "Nya, your the mistress of storms."

"I am."

"Yeah."

Just having that urge, I kissed him. I know it was kind of weird just doing it without telling him, but I couldn't hold back anymore. I love him. I know I do. I know he loves me. Just having that awkward feeling all the time let's me know that he cares about me. I love him. He loves me. I know he does. When our lips came apart, we looked at each other like any couple would.

"You do love me," Caleb said.

"Why wouldn't I?" I asked.

Seeing that the Smithsons are starting to grow in number, Caleb and I needed to think of a plan.

"There is one power I can handle that can get rid of these creatures," Caleb said, "If we both do it, then we can get rid of this army."

"You'll have to teach me," Nya said, "I don't know anything about my powers."

"Remember when you taught me how to play ring toss? I was listening to you, but I was also watching your physical abilities of how you did it."

"How am I suppose to do that?"

"Watch my physical abilities."

Caleb swirled his hands horizontally and started making what looked like a storm cloud. The faster he went, the larger the cloud got. Once the cloud became heavy, Caleb released it into the sky and it created thunder. Doing the same thing, I created a storm cloud to increase the size of the thunder. Before I knew it, the Smithsons disappeared after the first crackle of thunder. They were gone in the blink of an eye.

"We did it," I cheered.

"We did, didn't we?" Caleb asked.

Sensei Wu and the others ran towards us. "Are you both alright?"

"We're fine, Father," Caleb said.

"Did Nya just do spinjitzu?" Misako said.

"I did," I said.

"And create a storm cloud?" Garmedon asked.

"I did that, too," I said.

"It looks like there are not just four elemental powers, but five," Sensei said.

"That is true," Garmedon said.

We saw Zeah running out of the woods. "I have Nick, but we need to get inside right now. The battle has begun."

"It's almost sunrise," I said.

Wu looked up towards the sky. "Let us hope that Kai wins for Ninjago."

A thunder clap was heard throughout the island. We all ran inside the tents. I hope Kai wins the battle.

KAI`S POV:

The battle has lasted for hours. I knew sunrise would arrive soon. I was near a cliff. My body was covered with cuts and bruises. No certain type of injuries. I was in a tight spot. Smithee was close up to me, cuts and bruises surrounding his evil looking face. His clothing was ripped. Mine was as well, but with a few shreds and tears. Smithee was making me back up near the cliff.

"The battle is coming close to an end," Smithee said, "Sunrise is coming close. Only one of us can win, and I will make sure that it's me."

"You won't win this, Smithee," I said, "I've said it once and I'll say it again. Good always wins."

"Then I better make sure that never happens."

When he said that, Smithee pushed me off the cliff, but I grabbed a twig to stop my fall. I looked up at Smithee`s red eyes. "You'll never take good down."

"I think I already have. Look at you. Poor and defenseless. You have no one to help you."

"He has someone," I heard a voice say. I soon realized that it was Kitty.

"How are you still alive?" Smithee yelled.

"She came right on time," I said, jumping up and kicking Smithee over the cliff. He caught the twig I held on to and looked at me with fear in his eyes. I didn't think evil showed fear.

"Please, don't do this to me," Smithee pleaded, "I've been through too much to let it end like this. If you push me off this cliff, I'll be turned into dust and bones and be sent to the underworld."

"I'd rather you be there than here."

"Please, help me. If you do, I will give you my gratitude. I will lock myself up in the Cave of Darkness and never try to take over Ninjago again."

I placed my sword on his chin. "I've learned to never trust the enemy. Here's a little something to remember on this day." As the sun rose up, I cut Smithee in between his eyes. "Enjoy the underworld. Long live the light." I cut the twig and send Smithee falling. His body turned to dust and all I could see was his bones. He fell into a portal, never to be seen again.

Ninjago is saved. The battle has ended. The light has returned.

THIS IS A PRETTY LONG CHAPTER. I'M NOT SURE IF I COULD CALL IT LONG, BUT IT TOOK ME A COUPLE OF HOURS TO WRITE IT.

THE BATTLE STARTED AND THEN ENDED. GOOD WINS. GOOD ALWAYS WINS.

NYA IS A NINJA. A MISTRESS OF STORMS. THIS IS SO COOL. PLUS, SHE KISSED CALEB. LOOKS LIKE NYA HAS FINALLY MOVED ON.

DON'T WORRY. THIS IS NOT THE END. I HAVE ONE LAST CHAPTER TO WRITE.

I'D LIKE TELL EVERYONE ALL AROUND THE WORLD TO HAVE A HAPPY EASTER.

HAPPY READING.
