AN: Hello! What is up! I'm typing from this one room in my house by a window and the view outside looks GORGEOUS right now. Snowy mountains, blue skies, nothing to block it. Amazingness. So this sadly should be one of the last chapters, I think there's 1 or 2 left after this. But enjoy!
Modified AN: Hello. This is me. 1 month later. Far away from said beautiful view. It's raining now and I hate rain. Sighs. So sorry about that. As I may have mentioned I recently moved across the country and it took forever to find my laptop charger in all the boxes. So I couldn't finish the story because my computer died. Luckily, to make up for my sucky updating skills, here's a long chappie. Also, whoever reviewed this story as a guest named PlotTwist, that story made my day XD. (::)(::)(::) Cookies for you.
Disclaimer: OH SCHIST. I FORGOT THE DISCLAIMER IN THE LAST CHAPTER. I DON'T OWN ANYTHING! DON'T SUE ME PLEASE!
Percy's POV:
I started at Kronos' dead body, uncomprehendingly. Then the bonds loosened and we dropped to the floor. I managed to drag my gaze upward to look at Leo and saw that the glossy, hypnotized look he had just a few seconds ago was gone. He was wearing his usual up-to-no-good grin.
"Missed me?" He asked.
We all just gaped at him for a while. Then, as if on cue, we all jumped up and ran over to him. Calypso strangled him in a hug, yelling at him about how much she was going to kill him.
"So…" Leo said after a while, breaking free of Calypso. "I suppose you guys want an explanation."
"Heck, yes!" Rye exclaimed.
"I- I thought you were hijacked! You had the same- same look as they did!" Haymitch half pointed at Peeta, Beetee, and Johanna.
"Haymitch, Johanna and Beetee weren't hijacked. Even I know that. Are you still drunk somehow?" Willow rolled her eyes when Haymitch half heartedly shrugged.
"Please. Do you know how many times I've had to deal with kids on drugs? I've run away 6 times guys! And gone to countless schools for 'bad' kids. It was easy. I just imitated them. Worked like a charm."
"But- but that's not how it works! People would have seen you hijacked!" Peeta protested.
"Okay, okay. Let me start from the beginning…."
Leo's POV:
The next thing I knew after I blacked out, I was somewhere scary, gray, and damp. Definitely not with the rest of da squad. It was way too stern and serious here. I wondered if this was what it was like to live in one of Annabeth's eyes.
"Well, well, well." I heard a voice from behind me and snapped around.
I could just make out the faint outline of a large figure. I lit a ball of fire in my hand, just to have it quickly die. Great. Demigod magic doesn't work here. In the few seconds before the fire went out, I caught a glimpse of my captor's face.
"Hello." Kronos purred.
"From the other side? Of the bars?" I tried for a smile. Kronos didn't seem to get it. Titans are so behind on music these days.
"So. Demigod." Kronos said the word like it was 'puke sandwich'. Not exactly flattering. "What should I do with you?"
I gulped. His sinister tone of voice made me feel like he was planning on turning me into something he'd eat for lunch. A Super Sized McSizzle.
"You could return me to my friends?"
"Your friends… Not a bad idea…." I didn't like the way he said that.
"Well, or you could…."
"SILENCE." He boomed, making my hair stand on end.
A purple glow came from where his hands would have been. I just had enough time to think 'Uh oh' before I lost consciousness again.
Would it surprise you to hear that I had a bad dream? It started with a blonde boy not too much older than myself looking panicked. He was being dragged by two guys in matching uniform. They escorted him around a corner and after a few seconds I decided to follow.
I entered a completely white room that looked like a dentist's office with a giant projector. A vial of something sat on the table by the chair. More uniformed guys waited there. In the center of the room was an old man dressed in just as much white as the room. He had a white rose tucked into his pocket.
The boy's eyes widened. "Snow. What do you want to do to me? What is there left that you haven't already taken from me?" He spoke calmly, but I could see through the lie. He was terrified. There was a lot this Snow guy could take from him. But he wouldn't show it. I had used the same disguise all too many times.
"Peeta." Snow's eyes sparkled. "Have a seat."
The uniformed guys forced him down into the chair. I realized with a jolt that this was a younger Peeta Mellark, Willow and Rye's father.
A look of horror flickered across Peeta's face as he took in the liquid set beside him and the screen. It seemed to trigger realization he couldn't quite place, like something he heard about a long time ago.
As the screen flickered to life while he was strapped in, a video started of a young girl, a little younger than Hazel, being called up to the stage in front of a large crowd. The crowd was silent and the girl looked like she had just been sentenced to death. Knowing what I did about previous Hunger Games, that was probably true.
Then, a dark haired girl who looked around fifteen ran forward only to be restrained by more of the uniformed guys. "I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE." She yelled.
Snow paused the video on her. Something in Peeta's expression had shifted. Something I had seen many times with my fellow demigods on the Argo II. Love.
One of the uniformed guys pulled a syringe out and dipped it in the vial, filling it up with the serum. Peeta seemed to fully get what was happening now. His calm demeanor was completely replaced with panic.
"Snow. You can't do this. YOU'RE MAKING A MISTAKE. Please."
Snow just smiled cruelly and moved to the next video clip but I wasn't looking at that. All I could look at was Peeta's horrified expression as the needle came closer and closer to him. Right before it hit his skin, he mouthed something I could just barely make out. Katniss. Then the serum was injected in him and all I could hear were his tortured, broken screams.
I snapped awake. Blinding white burned my eyes. Once I could see properly again, I immediately recognized my surroundings. I was in the same white room that I saw in my dream. Only now I was the one strapped in the chair. Sure enough, the vial was next to me. I scanned my surroundings. I was alone in the room. If only magic still worked. If only I even had just one last cold beverage before I met whatever fate Peeta did.
A cold coke appeared in my lap. I gaped at it and then it hit me. My wish had come true. My powers could work again. I had been stripped of my weapons but I guess Kronos didn't consider my tool belt a weapon. A plan formed in my mind.
I wasn't Jason with his electrical shocks but I did know how machines worked. I felt the presence of cameras and willed for them to be shut off. I had to pray that it worked.
Next, I asked my tool belt for a vial identical to the one beside me, but perfectly harmless. I didn't know how specific the belt could go, but what I got was pretty dang good. As I began to swap the vials, I caught a whiff of the one I was supposed to get injected with. Everything about it screamed poison. It made me feel slightly delirious but I fought through it. As I heard footsteps approaching, I quickly stowed away the correct poison and drink. Just as I finished, the doors burst open and in came several empousai.
One started the projector and I saw images of my mother, Calypso, my friends, and the gods. Every time I was injected that actually felt rather pleasant, I tried to mimic the screams I heard from Peeta. This went on for what felt like days. A couple times Kronos peaked his head in but I did my best to ignore him. My voice hurt but I focused on the people on the screen. I was doing this for them. I had put two and two together. I was supposed to be hijacked, a term I heard about from the people in District 2. Turned into a weapon against my friends, just like Peeta was. I would not let that happen.
Finally, it ended. I was allowed to sit up. I thought about the glassy eyes of all the druggies I knew. I tried for that convincing look. It seemed to work.
"So, Valdez. How do you feel about your fellow demigods now?" I heard Kronos' voice from behind me. I hadn't even realized he was back.
I launched into the most offensive, anger filled shouts I could do. I thought about all the anger and hurt I'd been bottling up. Anger at my mom's death; Anger at Gaea; Anger at my luck; And anger at Kronos for doing this to us.
Kronos cackled with delight. "Gooooooood. Excellent. Now. Your pathetic demigod friends are just next door. I'm battling them right now."
I started to protest that he was right next to me. Then I remembered that the gods could be in multiple places at the same time. I guess that was true for Titans too.
"They're NOT my friends." I snarled, hoping to sound convincing.
"That's the spirit! Now. I am going to send my full self there and I want you to come in in a few moments with the gorgon blood I was told you acquired. I want you to bring me the right side, which can cure anything. I want those puny mortal demigods to tremble as they watch me become the most powerful being in the universe. As for the left side, bring that too. We will personally stuff a little bit down each and every one of their throats and watch them writhe with pain and death."
I pretended to be entranced in this plan when in reality I was horrified. "Of course, Master."
"Good. I will see you soon." And with that, he disappeared.
I looked around. The empousai were gone. I was completely alone. I wondered why Kronos would leave me completely able to escape and bring back reinforcements. It dawned on me that it was because he thought I was completely and utterly hijacked. I now obeyed him. This was too easy.
I summoned the two containers of gorgon blood, labeled with which was which. I knew these would come in handy. I quickly switched the labels and smiled. It was Leo's time to save the day.
I headed over to the next door room and opened it. Sure enough, there was Kronos and… I had to hold back a yelp. Not just the tributes and rest of the Seven, but both camps as well. I maintained my glassy, drugged look. They were restrained against a wall and I took in all the dead bodies. My eyes rested on Solder's unmoving figure. Despite my disliking for her, I felt a bit of remorse.
I felt all eyes on me. Someone whispered "He's been hijacked." It was working!
I handed Kronos the container now labeled with 'RIGHT'.
A broken cry came from the crowd of demigods. "LEO! NO!"
I knew that voice like I knew my own. Calypso. That enough was almost enough to distract me from this act. Still, I forced myself to continue to face Kronos.
"My master." I bowed.
With a crazy cackle, Kronos opened the container and drank. He fell forward in pain and I waited for it. The look on my friends' faces was hopeless defeat. I couldn't wait for them to see their pleasant surprise. Annabeth would be proud.
At long last, Kronos looked up at me with a furious, confused look in his eyes. I could tell he knew he had underestimated me. Before he could say anything, he collapsed and dissolved into gold dust. He was dead.
