As Rose continued glaze into her crystal ball, she tried to find the source of the dark future. Who is responsible for causing such an outcome? She had to get to the bottom of this and try to prevent is as much as possible, not only for the sake of the X-men, but everyone else as well.
Unfortunately, each time she tried to tap into the future, she stumbled across a road block. No longer could Rose try to get into contact with her future self, since she was long gone, nor even gaze into a peaceful future. And since the future of impending doom was clear cut, something had to be done to change it. She was not able to get a clear view on the attacker, but she was able to get a proper location of the event
Having heard the news from Professor Xavier about the dark future, the X-men were on compete high alert. Bishop and Cable had even arrived to assist the situation as well, despite having their conflict during the Civil War. Nevertheless, the one thing was common was the sake of their future.
"My X-men, I have seen the future. And it is dark day for all of us unless we do something." Xavier had announced.
Feeling determined to fight, Wolverine pounded his fist. "So where do we start Professor, I'm ready to shred some Sentinels wires, anytime, any day."
"What can we do Professor?" Jean inquired.
"While using Cerebro, I recently intercepted a transmission from the underground."
"By noon, we will attack the White House, and put an end to Senator Kelly and his mutant extermination squad. Therefore, victory will be ours at long last." Magneto said on the transmission. "So come my brothers, we will win this war for the freedom of mutant kind!" Magneto concluded, making the Brotherhood applauded.
The Professor took a deep breath to grasp this situation. "I feared this day would come Eric."
"Is he actually serious about this?" Cyclops inquired.
"I've known Eric for far too long, but I never imagine he would ever go this far just to insure peace among mutants even with the most extreme of circumstances."
"You think Magneto's finally lost it?" Wolverine asked.
"I do not know for sure, but we must go to that senate. I will appear there as spokesperson for mutant kind. So your job is to keep a close eye out, the fate of the future and humanity will depend on our actions. We are also going to need some help from the outside."
"Down with mutants, up with humans!" The roar of the protesters echoed through the White House. Armed with their picked sighs outside the White House, they continued to pressure the Representatives to put a leash law on mutants. Crowds from parents, singles, adults, and young adults stood outside the DC awaiting further word.
"I assure you Mr. Senator; my school is dedicated to helping young mutants control their gifts. Professor Xavier had spoken at the White House.
"So these gifts aren't you for weapons or even fighting?" The Senator inquired.
"No Mr. Senator, but other mutant's tent to use their abilities otherwise for their own purposes, not matter what means is justified."
"Has your X-men supported Captain America's Anti-Registration or even Iron-Man's Pro Registration forces?"
"We were offered Mr. Senator, but we refused."
"I see so despite what is happening now. Do you still intent to fight for equality for humans and mutants?"
"Yes Mr. Senator, with my very life."
Among the crowd of Protestors Peter and Chun Li kept watch outside, blending in with the crowd. As Peter held his sign, he would at times wonder what it will be like if the world was against him. He already gets enough criticism from Jameson, his number one fan.
"You sense anything yet?" Chun Li asked.
"Nothing but an angry mob, wanting to scream my name on their next concert," Peter replied gazing at the crowd.
Chun Li chuckled at his humor. "Well, I'm sure you will have your chance in the spotlight very soon.
"Uh-oh, I spoke to soon." Peter said sensing danger nearby.
"Stay on your toes people, we have company." Cap warned.
With the quickest speed, the mutant speedster, Quicksilver rushed through the crowd. Running counterclockwise, he spun the crowd into a massive tornado. Next, the ground had shook, causing the crowd to lose their balance. As Spider-Man came in, he shot a webfilled net that loosen the fall of the people. As Chun Li instructed the crowd to get away, a long tongue shot at her. It only took a millisecond to react as he grabbed her wrist. With both arms, Chun Li grabbed the tongue and swung the mutant around.
Disgusted of what she did, she shook the spit of her hands. For the counter attack, Toad spat sludge slime directly at the Interpol agent. As Chun Li evaded the attack, Rogue had already swooped in for direct take down on the Brotherhood mutant.
"Hope I'm not too late for the party, sugar." Rogue said. "Sorry, but I'm gonna need to use some of your abilities." Rogue gave Chun Li a touch, absorbing some of her abilities. Rogue's touch was like a parasite eating away at her body.
Rogue gave a concern look to Chun Li. "I'll be fine Rogue, let's do this."
As Chun Li launched a kick, her leg was caught by squishy stomach. "Ha, ha, ha, ha, don't you know that nothing moves the Blob."
"Your stomach may be invariable, by not your face." Chun Li replied. With slap of both hands, she stroke the Blob's both ears, thus causing his eardrops to ring. For the next move, Rogue flew in with a jump kick.
While evading her firepower, Wolverine and Spider-Man tried to find a way around the sharp shooting mutant, Domino. Outside from that Quicksilver had assisted Domino in her fight. With his fast speed, he was able to keep Spider-Man and Wolverine off balance.
"Being your father's errand boy again, Quicksilver?" Wolverine inquired.
Quicksilver gave quick smirk. "Very funny old man, but this time he has a plan to really benefit mutant kind."
"I guess like a beaten dog, you always follow his ridicules commands."
"Let's see how fast you can breathe, once I suck all the air out of your body." Before Quicksilver could charge, Cyclops had already blasted him with his Optic Blast.
Pyro shot out stream of flames. With the element of fire at his control, he was able to manipulate anything. "Perhaps, it's time for a lot of incineration from yours truly."
"How about trying this on for size?" Avalanche unleashed another earthquake.
"Well, how about a wager of fifty two pickup?" Gambit flipped multiple Kinetic cards. Upon impact, it blew Avalanche.
While still fighting with the Brotherhood, they suddenly heard the sounds of spinning engines. Wolverine was the first to catch scent of it, and already he knew it was not good.
"Mutant termination is active." The Sentinel cried.
Spider-Man signed. "That's just great as if we did not have enough on our plate."
The Sentinels aimed their weapons at the mutants and the helpers. "Terminate all mutants and allies on sight."
"Allies; does that mean me?"
"No bub, he means your girlfriend. Off course he means all of us." Wolverine said sarcastically.
"Help me!" a scream from the White House sounded.
Magneto held a pistol at the Senator. "Your war on mutants ends here Senator."
As she witnessed the fallen security, she knew their suspicion was right. She only hoped it was not too late. As she reached the main office, she quickly hid behind the door. She had to prepare for anything against the Master of Magnetism. But she also had to make sure there was no metal on her to control. So on three, she popped with her fighting stance.
Chun Li exclaimed, "The assassination stops here."
Magneto aimed his pistol directly at Chun Li. "This does not concern you little girl."
As Wolverine and Spider-Man followed Chun Li for backup, Chun Li was already done with no problems at all. No one inhabited the building, but a bunch of scared workers and secretaries. As Chun Li got close, Wolverine wasted no time impacting her with his claws. Before Spider-Man could question, let alone attack the mutant, he halted. And even his spider sense was triggering on Chun Li.
Wolverine already suspected from the start. "Take a look again kid. That is not your girl."
Chun Li transformed into very familiar face. "I guess the nose always nose."
Wolverine sharpen his claws. "You haven't changed one bit, eh Mystique?"
Spider-Man warned the Senator. "Better make like tree and leave Senator, this might get ugly for the kiddies."
"Quite the opposite, none of you are going anywhere, because I did not come alone." Mystique launched a double to Spider-Man and Wolverine.
As Wolverine sniffed around, he quickly recognized familiar scent. His face turned from anger to shock as he said, "Uh-Oh."
With drum pounding speed, the Juggernaut charged in taking Wolverine like raging bull, busting through the White House. "You remember me Shorty, because I'm the Juggernaut…?"
Wolverine cut Juggernaut off. "Yeah, yeah, I've heard that line before. I remember, you stench, really well Marko, but don't think just because your Charles baby brother means I'll go ahead a take it easy on you."
"You'll be the next topping once I take care of my brother."
As Spider-Man fired a stream of webballs at the mutant, Mystique used her acrobatics skills to dodge his webbing. "You really think taking out old man Kelly is going to make your lives easier? I mean even Jameson does not hate me this much."
Mystique fired her pistol at Spider-Man. "It is for the greater good, whether you don't see it or not."
"So I guess you used Magneto's appearance just gain the Brotherhood under your control?"
Mystique gave an awkward clap. "Bravo, I guess there is some smarts in that mask of yours."
Matching Mystique's speed, reflexes and cunningness, Spider-Man fought the shapeshifting mutant. Now that they knew Magneto was had nothing to do with this attack. She even tried using several appearances to deceive Spider-Man, but he was not easily fooled, since his spider sense always gave him clear perspective on his foes. Mystique may have been able to alter appearances, but not powers.
In the meantime, Wolverine had continued to play grudge match with Juggernaut. With every slam, the Juggernaut was able to generate a massive earthquake even more powerful then Avalanche. Chun Li took the distraction to remove the latches in Juggernaut's helmet.
"Don't I get a hug brother?" Juggernaut approached the Professor. Before he could lay his hands on Professor X, Juggernaut was stuck under Spider-Man's webs on his back side. Wolverine had also used unlock the other latch from Juggernaut's helmet.
Now realizing that the Sentinels had arrived, it only made things even difficult for the heroes. Now only did they have the Brotherhood to fight, but the mutant hunting robots as well. As the robots caught sight of the heroes, they wasted no time attacking whether it was mutant or not.
"Target acquired; termination of mutant and ally is set." The Sentinel advised his fellow robots.
"This was not a part of the plan Magneto had for us." Quicksilver informed after he stopped fighting Cyclops.
"Yeah, what's the big idea?" Toad inquired.
The Sentinels continued to call out. "Eliminate all mutants and comrades in sight!"
As the Sentinels blasted the array of beam cannons, the Brotherhood, Rose and X-men evaded their heavy firepower. Each and every one of them was set to kill, so everyone had to be ready to fight. And knowing how many the mutants hated the Sentinels; neither of them had wasted any time or effort scraping down the robots.
Now that they knew Magneto was had nothing to do with this attack, the X-men and Brotherhood had put aside their battle to defend against the Sentinels. From powerful projectiles to heavy hitters, the X-men and the Brotherhood fought against the Sentinel army. And had even had some help from the outside.
Outside help had been called from Spider-Man. Hawkeye, Iron-Man, Spencer, Strider and Captain America torn down the mechanical beast. One could only wonder who had authorized the Sentinels after being considered banned by the government. Or even better yet, why were they reprogrammed to attack all non-mutant kind?
Together the heroes continued to fight them off and avoid their heavy arsenal of weapons. From every blast, destruction had followed DC wake. Now they knew this were not the Sentinels true doing?
"Destroy all mutants and accomplishes, destroy all mutants and accomplishes…" The Sentinel's have repeated while continuing their assault. Then suddenly out of nowhere had frozen and became offline. They were now like statues. Everyone was already puzzled.
"Hey everyone thanks for holding them off, so I could upload a virus into Master Mold's system. Now the Sentinel's can't hurt you anymore." Iron-Man announced on loudspeaker. "Oh and by the way, Mystique says hi to all of you."
"So Magneto was not the one." Domino asked finding out the truth.
"Uh-Oh, let's get out of here." Quicksilver felt beat and stupid. With multiple dashed in circles, the Brotherhood was able to cover their untraceable tracks. Not even SHIELD could track their movement. But deep down the X-men knew they would eventually see them another day.
With large doses of tranquilizers and psychic blast Juggernaut was neutralized and taken back into holding cell. Mystique unfortunately, was able to make a clean getaway, despite being tied up in Spider-Man's webbing. The Sentinels were returned back to base and taken offline once again, never to be touched or programmed again. So far the future was safe, but it was still far from perfect as Rose had predicted. Whether it was for bad or for worst was the true question.
As Iron-Man and SHIELD went through the Sentinel bases security cameras, it had showed the same result. Cameras were hacked showing an empty image and the Sentinels coming online by themselves. And Since Trask was only early retirement; all suspicions on him were off. Even if footage showed otherwise, someone or something was there.
"It seems like our plan had failed Bass, but there is always another day." The mysterious stranger stopped in his tracks, as the robot came to a complete stop. The robot aimed his Blaster cannon at the ship.
With both hands behind his back, the Hydra leader approached the scientist. "Impressive, I witnessed you incredible skills to manipulate the Sentinels at your direct control to target someone other than the mutants."
"I am quite busy at the moment, get to the point of your encounter or else you won't live to regret it." He threatened the Skull.
"I wish you offer you a place in my organization Dr. Wily. With your skills on advance robotics, we will grind the heroes to the ground. Not to mention, great benefits to you."
Fascinated on his proposition, Wily held off his robot's attack. "Tell me more."
