Hey guys!
So I am officially back, we had some major family problems come up so that delayed my writing a lot. I do have the last chapters for this story written so expect the rest in a few days!
Sorry for the delay, enjoy!
"Look at you."
Talia giggled in my arms as I gently tickled her stomach, smiling when she grabbed my finger and looked at my extended claw.
"You'll have these too sweetie, one day."
Her blue eyes watched as I retracted my claw before pulling my finger away.
"It's gonna be a long day sweetie, better get going."
She giggled again causing me to smile as I grabbed her car seat and buckled her up.
"Just got to get some stuff at the loft before we go shopping for your room."
Talia stopped laughing, her wide eyes continuing to watch as I carefully covered the car seat with a blanket. Shaking my head I grabbed my purse and the car seat, quickly hugged Deaton and thanked him for the help, before loading up the car and headed for the loft. Maneuvering around other cars I lightly sung to the radio, my ears listening for any signs of distress from the backseat as the loft building came into view.
"Almost there sweetie."
I cooed at the pup while turning into the parking lot, quickly finding a parking spot before stepping out and grabbing the car seat before walking into the building, looking around one more time as I stepped into the elevator.
"At least you don't have to grow up here Talia. You'll get what we had, a beautiful house."
I giggled.
"And a psychotic uncle who is going to spoil you rotten, and try, with everything he has, to mold you into being just like him."
I heard a giggle and smiled at the blanket again as the elevator dinged, looking up I walked out of the elevator and to the sliding door, slipping my key into the lock I easily opened the door and was met by a surprising sight. There was Stiles standing in the middle of the loft.
"Stiles? Sweetie, what are you doing here?"
The look he gave me had me moving my pup behind me.
"I see you finally had the baby."
I glared at the teen while placing my baby on the couch, leaving the blanket over the car seat incase I had to transform, sniffing the air it didn't take long to realize this wasn't my brothers best friend.
"I did."
Taking careful steps I approached the teen, my wolf growling lowly at the deep dark eyes that watched me, reaching a hand out like I would a wounded animal I carefully touched Stiles' shoulder as the door was pushed open. With strength I didn't know the human had he forced my hand off his shoulder and wrapped my arm painfully behind my back before tossing me to the floor. Whimpering I grabbed my arm and sank away from the teenager, instinct telling me to let the sheriff handle it and protect my pup instead. I watched as Sheriff Stilinski held up a pair of handcuffs.
"You want to handcuff me?"
The Sheriff was just as cautious as I was.
"If my son is still here, if there's still a part of him standing here in front of me, then he'll put these on willingly and he'll come with me, because he knows I'm here to protect him from himself and from others."
I watched from my spot in front of the couch, thankful Talia was a quiet baby and allowed me to fully focus on the pair as Stiles held out his wrist. The Sheriff slowly put the handcuffs on his son, the look Stiles gave his dad had me growling lowly.
"You're not my son."
Stiles shook his head and broke the cuffs, it was at that time Alison, Chris, and Derek walked in and approached the teenager. Derek glanced at me, his eyes focusing on my injured arm before focusing back on the teenager as Alison tried to shoot him with a taser only for Stiles to grab the wire and pulled on it before whipping it out of her hands and onto the floor. Derek decided to try an attack, only to have Stiles pull the same trick he used on me before he threw my mate to the floor. Hearing a gun cock I looked over at Chris to see he had his gun pointed at Stiles. Watching as the Sheriff tried to stop the hunter only to have to pull his own gun out, creating a standoff between the three. Feeling my arm finish healing I slowly stood to my feet as the sun finally set, a group of strange looking men appeared in front of the window.
"Derek?"
I gave my mate an unsure look as he growled.
"No matter what happens, protect Talia."
I nodded and stayed in my spot as he moved to stand next to Alison behind Stiles as all hell broke loose, the ninja things started swinging swords, gunshots were fired, Derek was thrown out of the way, gripping his shoulder, before the group left with Stiles. Walking over I checked on my mate, wincing at the cut.
"That's not healing."
"It won't for a while."
I nodded and helped him stand up as Scott finally appeared with a teenage girl close behind him.
"What happened?"
Alison was the first to recover.
"They disappeared. They literally just vanished."
"And so did Stiles."
Shaking my head I moved to hug my brother once Derek was stable on his feet again. Pulling back I turned to the teenager I hadn't met.
"Who are you?"
Scott sighed.
"Abby, this is Kira."
I felt my eyes glow for a moment.
"The kitsune, I've heard so much about you."
Ignoring the dark situation I walked over and circled the fox.
"Wow, I've never seen an aura so bright before, you must be young."
Kira turned and gave Scott a look as I continued to circle her.
"Abby."
Stopping I looked over at Derek.
"You're scaring the fox, stop."
Looking up I smiled at the kit.
"Sorry, it's been a long time since I've seen a kitsune with such a prominent aura."
Stepping back I looked at everyone.
"So who wants to tell me what's going on?"
The group sighed, Scott about to speak up when a cry ripped through the silence, shaking my head I walked over to the forgotten car seat and gently lifted Talia out and held her, causing the baby to quiet back down now that she was getting some attention.
"Who's that?"
I laughed at Scott.
"You tell me what I need to know first, then I'll introduce you to your niece."
Waking up to an empty bed was never a good sign, with a quick check on Talia I moved downstairs to see Peter only a few steps ahead of me, and Derek moving chess pieces.
"What are you doing?"
Sighing I walked over and took a seat on the table.
"And more importantly, why aren't you healing?"
Derek glanced at his wound before going back to the pieces.
"It's from one of their swords. It'll heal."
Peter walked around the table and looked at Derek.
"By playing chess?"
Derek was quick to respond as I yawned.
"Back in his room, Stiles had a board with my name on one of the pieces. If this is a game to him, then I need to figure out the plays."
I shook my head, the thought bothering me.
"Not so easy to do when it's a game without rules."
Derek looked confused at Peter, sighing I spoke up, my tired mind quickly catching up.
"You're dealing with the kind of spirit that's lived too long to play by human rules. It's a fox spirit that choose to become human. And supposedly, that's something they can do only after about 100 years."
Peter raised an eyebrow at me.
"I looked through the bestiaries before going to bed."
Derek looked back at us.
"If a kitsune is an annoying pain in the ass, then a nogitsune, which is a dark kitsune, is a freaking disaster."
I nodded in agreement as Derek focused on the now set chess board, with something occurring to me I spoke up as Peter pulled on a jacket.
"Besides, chess is Stiles' game. It's not the game of a Japanese fox."
Peter nodded while walking around the table to leave.
"Do yourself a favor and put something on that. Before it gets infected."
As Peter left I sighed and slid off the table, gently kissing my mate in the process.
"I'm going back to bed, Talia likes to wake up early."
He nodded and focused back on the chessboard, sighing I kissed his injured shoulder before climbing the stairs and going back to bed.
Waking up alone, again, was becoming an annoyance.
"I'm not staying out of this, if they think leaving me is going to force me to stay out of it they are sadly mistaken."
Pulling out my cell phone I sighed as I dialed a number, listening to the phone ring for a moment before it was picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey Jack, I need another favor."
"Sure thing hon, what's up?"
I sighed and explained the basics of what was going on, asking him to watch Talia for an hour or two while I went to find Derek.
"No problem Abby, do you want me to keep her at the loft or the house."
"The house, please."
I heard him mutter he would be there soon before hanging up, sighing I walked over and picked up my baby.
"Momma loves you sweetie, I hope you know that."
It took Jack no more than thirty minutes to get to the loft and retrieve Talia from me while I took off, my gut telling me to check the Argents apartment first. Needless to say I was a little more than shocked when I walked into the apartment and getting hit in the face with the smell of gasoline, following the scent I heard a thud, turning into a room on my left I gasped as Derek fell to the ground, completely wolfed out, Chris stood there holding a gun and completely soaked with gas.
"What's going on?"
Chris turned to me.
"Your mate has lost it, he tried to set me on fire."
I sighed and walked over to my mate, watching as he slowly changed back, that's when I noticed his bloody nose. Giving Chris a look he sighed and knelt down, quickly helping me move Derek into a chair.
"Do you know what's going on?"
I shook my head at Chris.
"I don't know, something must have happened after I went to bed this morning, he wasn't like this last night."
Hope everyone enjoyed the update!
I'm running off to work now and will update as soon as I get off in the morning!
