God, Luna hated being sick.
She was glad it was finally over. Luna sighed as she lazily brushed her hair up into it's usual pony tail. She'd gone back to school last Thursday, only two days after she'd hung out with Loki, Natasha, Steve and Tony in the game room. School had tired her more out then she thought it would since she was still getting over the side effects of being sick.
Either way, by that Sunday Luna felt all around healthy and she was ready for school that Monday morning without much problem. Halloween came and passed with no surprises. She spent it with Loki since Tony and her friends were going out to a party and Luna was still a little too under the weather for it.
That was two weeks ago, and today was a Friday morning. She was just glad all that was finally behind her.
When ever one of her friends had asked her if she was feeling better she would only respond with, "Fuck being sick."
If anything she was simply glad it was over and she was glad to be back at school with her friends and Loki.
Luna was shocked but pleasantly surprised at Natasha's and Loki's new friendship. (If it could be called that. The two insulted each other and bickered more then herself and Tony.)
Natasha sat with Loki and Luna at his table very briefly a few days after she returned back to school just until Clint sat down over at her usual table. Loki seemed annoyed at her presence (or maybe because she propped her feet on the top of the table) but wasn't all together mean to her.
Luna went over to his house Friday and Saturday afternoon but spent all Sunday with Tony and Bruce in Tony's makeshift lab in the den.
Tony took her relationship with Loki surprisingly well. He brought it up only once, and only to add he was alright with him if she was. That was right before Loki left that night after watching movies.
No one else said much about it, seeming to ignore there was anything different. Only Bruce said something.
Luna figured Tony must have said something, for that Sunday some few hours after they had begun working Bruce brought it up. Tony had just left to answer Pepper's call in the hall and the both of them took it as a break to eat.
Luna picked at a bowl of grapes while sitting on the kitchen counter, looking down at Bruce who was standing somewhat to her left.
"So you and Loki are finally together now, huh?"
"Oh? Tony tell you?" Luna asked while throwing a grape into the air and failing to catch it in her mouth. She let out an almost silent curse as it hit her nose and bounced into the sink.
"Yeah, he mentioned it." Bruce glanced down for a second while rolling his own grape between his thumb and pointer finger. "You took longer then I thought." He commented.
Luna glanced at him before looking toward the ceiling and trying again with another grape.
She missed.
"Shit... Well, why do you say that?" She commented.
Bruce shrugged one shoulder and smiled warmly at her. "I could just tell. You really like him. I figured you'd have made a move sooner or later."
She chuckled once before throwing another grape into the air. "Well, thanks Bruce. I didn't even make the move anyway, he did. I probably never would have."
Bruce snorted once and ate a grape. "Why? I told you he liked you."
Luna shrugged and failed once more with her grape. "Dunno. I just denied it I guess. I believed he didn't like me so much that I rejected all the signs. I think he did too."
Bruce nodded a few times as he rolled another grape. "He did," Bruce agreed. "So why did he...?"
Luna shrugged and paused in her grape throwing to think. "You know, I never did ask. I guess it just... happened. Umm..." She gave an awkward laugh and popped her grape in her mouth. She smiled as she chewed it. "Anyway, I'm glad at least someone is happy for me about it. " She nudged him with her shoulder.
Bruce chuckled and glanced down once more. "Of course... Anything that makes you happy makes me happy..." He trailed off and watched as she groaned in frustration when another grape hit her cheek. "Come on, it's easy. Try me." He responded while smiling crookedly at her. The awkwardness of the conversation faded away.
Bruce backed up a few steps and motioned for her to throw a grape. Luna smiled and tossed one.
Bruce caught it easily, smiling widely while he broke the soft skin of the grape with his teeth.
Luna glared and chucked another at his face.

.
Her orientation for her new job and also the day she was got her schedule for when she actually started working just a few days after that Thursday. It was only part time, four days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights and mandatory Saturday mid shift) but Luna was excited none the less.
Her orientation was mostly just paper work. Who knew there were so many rules just to work at a grocery store? They had a tobacco selling policy, a liquor selling policy, a policy about the sale of gift and phone cards. Then on top of that there was her training on how to work the hand held computer like scanner she needed to use to scan product in. Learning the register was planned for another day entirely.
Luna was told right off the bat she wasn't going to be on the register much since she wasn't officially a cashier although it was mandatory training. She was a service clerk, which mostly meant she would deal with customer satisfaction, scanning inventory and cleaning at the end of the day.
Luna was more then fine with that.
She's only worked four days since she started, since she couldn't start right after her orientation till her drug test came back.
Her co-workers seemed nice, expect a boy a few years older then her and some girl whom she didn't know the names of. She had already been in the little office for a few hours when they had walked in. Luna was in the middle of watching some informational video on the policy about robbery when the two walked in.
Luna turned around in her chair to glance at who walked in and the two entered to stand in front of the time clock.
The girl looked at her and when Luna smiled she nudged her friend and jerked her chin in Luna's direction.
The boy looked over and his eyes silently went up and down Luna's form.
"That's the rich girl." The girl said loudly, adding a snicker. The boy grinned widely at her comment and wrinkled his nose at her.
Luna frowned, glaring at the two and turned around without introducing herself. They both laughed while clocking in and left the room.
She hasn't seen much of either on of them since.
In fact, Luna rarely talked to any one unless she had to, not interested in making new friends when she was perfectly content with the ones she had now that they were getting closer.
New people would only want to use her or make fun of her simply because of her last name.
.
In any case, today was the day Luna was looking forward to for a while. It was just a regular night but tonight was the night Loki wanted to take her out for dinner and a movie after school.
Typical teenage date but never the less Luna was excited. Loki asked her last week randomly, claiming they needed a proper "dinner" date.
Luna smiled to herself once in the mirror before setting her brush down, tying her hair in a messy bun and running to grab her back pack.
Tony was already waiting by the door, a fresh peach in his hand.
"Was waiting for you to get your ass down here." He commented.
Luna rolled her eyes at him, jutting out one hip. "You have a car. You could drive yourself."
Tony shook his head once and turned to walk to the garage. "My car is too expensive. You do make a good point though. I suppose I could go get another one meant only for school."
Luna sent a glare at the back of her brother's head but said nothing. She loved her brother more then anyone on this Earth, but he didn't respect the money they were born into like she did.
Either way, the two went along their normal steps for starting the morning. Luna stopped by Pepper's house to pick her up and went to go pick up Bruce.
Bruce normally liked to walk, listening to classical music as he did so. Claimed it was not only good exercise but was a nice calm way to start his day. Normally though, for the last few years that Luna had been driving they had always added Bruce to their route in the mornings when it got cold.
Bruce hated the cold more then he liked his morning walks, and as October had turned into November the Albany weather became too much for him. The afternoon before Bruce had text her a picture of himself walking home with his beanie pulled low and scarf wrapped around the bottom of his face. The only caption was, "It's time. :("
Bruce slid next to Luna and shot her a silent smile before she sped off. His smile quickly fled to a frown as she skidded around a corner.
"You drive like a maniac." He commented, his knuckles white from holding his seat.
Luna rolled her eyes without turning away from the road. "No, I don't. I speed but I am a super safe driver. I am in complete control. Never once got caught either- no tickets under my belt."
"Yet." Pepper commented in the back seat. Luna sniffed once but didn't bother with a response.
When they reached the parking lot she spotted Loki was already there leaning against his bike. He changed his parking spot so it was only two down and across from hers. Luna never asked why but liked it all the same.
She parked, giving a short wave to Thor and Clint who were hanging out by Clint's jeep a few spaces down the row. She began walking over to Loki when he held his hand up to her and instead started walking over. Luna frowned softly but didn't move away from her car.
Luna forgot for a moment where she was and about Bruce and Pepper getting out of the car. Tony was already out, standing on the other side of her car.
In that short five seconds that it took for Loki to walk over it was only them, his green eyes never leaving hers.
Loki reached them and wrapped one arm around her waist with a sly smile. He bent down and gave her a brief kiss before leaning away again. "Morning." Loki said, voice cool and level.
Luna leaned back and smiled widely. For a second she didn't speak while she backed away a step. "Wow, well then. Morning Mr. PDA. What's got you in such a good mood this morning?" Luna joked, mentioning that PDA comment as a jest. Loki rarely kissed her in public simply because he was not big into that kind of thing in front of people.
"Nothing in particular." Loki commented before offering her a grin. "Shall I walk you to class?"
Luna smiled at him before turning towards her friends. Tony looked mildly annoyed, and Pepper and Bruce were ignoring them while bent over Pepper's science note book. Bruce seemed to be helping her with something.
Loki looked toward them and furrowed his brows, noticing her friends for the first time. His arm tightened a little bit on her waist before he let it drop casually to adjust his bag. Luna barely noticed.
Loki looked at Bruce, who was really the only person in Luna's present company he got along with recently. "Banner." Loki nodded his head before turning towards her and motioned with his head towards the school building before turning.
"I'll see you later guys, okay?" Luna spoke.
"Sure." Tony said while waving his hand once. "Beware kissing him! You might need a rabies shot afterward."
Loki flipped Tony off behind her back and Luna pretended not to see while Tony just laughed and turned away. Pepper didn't look up from her book but Bruce glanced up for half a second before looking away again.
Luna thought nothing of it as she and Loki walked to their first period class. For the most part class went by with out much difference. That's what Luna liked most of all about her and Loki's relationship.
Not much changed.
They still talked and joked and bantered like friends, but when he kissed her she felt a passion that Luna didn't know she was capable of feeling.
Maybe that was another reason Loki was special to her. He made her feel more alive. Luna never would have noticed herself if it wasn't for him but she just didn't have fun before. She could joke and play with her friends but with Loki it was different. She could be herself and tell him her secrets and Luna felt (she hoped) that Loki could do the same.
In the end she got everything she could have wanted.
A best-friend and a boyfriend, which resulted in her gaining a more intimate friendship with the friends she already had.
Bruce never hung out with just her before Loki. She never went over to Thor and Loki's house without Tony before. Luna had always tagged along with Tony and his plans but not she felt more confident to make her own plans away from her brother.
Loki, or at least Loki's friendship had taught her much.
Luna wondered what this relationship could teach her.
She just hoped whatever more things Loki had to teach her, they were lessons she wanted to learn.
In any case, the first half of the day went by quickly and faster then she thought Luna found herself maundering over to the cafeteria.
She spotted Thor and Steve waiting in line and the two men waved her over. Luna walked over and stood next to them, all the other kids paying her no mind as she essentially cut everyone else in line to talk to her friends.
"Oh, hey guys." Luna stood next to Thor and smiled at the two. "You didn't bring your lunch today?" She asked Thor. Steve usually ate the school food but Thor almost always brought his lunch.
Thor shook his head, the huge muscles of his neck moving. "No, I was running very late this morning. I missed the bus and had to drive."
"Well at least you actually drove your car for once." Luna rolled her eyes but shot him a smile and winked after ward. Thor took no offense and smiled at her shyly.
Everyone knew Thor hated to drive and almost never chose to do so. He failed his driving class twice before finally getting a license.
"Run over any helpless civilians?" Luna joked.
Thor frowned in an adorable pout that made her and Steve giggle while exchanging a look. "Well now," Steve drawled out while grinning, "Don't make fun of him Luna." He told her sternly before grinning softly. "I'm sure he only hit a few animals."
Both of them laughed together while Thor glared at them.
Luna sat with them that lunch since Loki had to spend his lunch for the next week in detention. Apparently it was frowned upon to sneak fire crackers under the seat of your English teacher, no matter how hilarious it may be.
With the brief, pleasant exception of lunch, the second half of school went by as boring as it could have possibly been. It seemed three times longer then the first half. Luna had let out a moan that was half between a groan and a sigh when the last bell rang. She jerked out of her seat and yanked her back pack off the back of her chair.
Luna finally got home after what seemed like forever. Loki had promised to pick her up sometime around six or six-thirty, claiming he should at least go home and shower.
At the present though, Luna was lying face down on her bed. She groaned once and got up off of her bed that she had plopped down on as soon as she had gotten home half an hour ago.
Tony and Pepper got a ride with Thor, who was supposed to come over with Jane. When she pulled in to the drive way after school she'd spotted Thor's car in the drive way. She also noticed Rhodey's car in the drive way and figured she might as well go say hello since he hadn't been in town for a few months.
She slowly wandered down stairs and figured out where exactly her friends were. Eventually her honed her hearing and heard their commotion in the back yard.
When Tony saw Luna open the long glass doors to their back yard he raised his arm into the air and leaned back in his chair. He opened his mouth to say something but almost fell backwards in his chair, so Thor greeted her instead.
"I was wondering where you ran off to little moon." He spoke with a wide smile while reaching over to steady Tony's chair with one huge palm.
Luna smiled slightly, one side of her lips pulling over her teeth while walking over to sit next to the long glass table. "You haven't called me that in forever. "
"I called you that a few months ago." Thor responded in a casual manner like he was stating the obvious. Luna rolled her eyes but said nothing as she sat down and reached to take a sip of the soda on the table.
"Ew that's yours now." Jane wrinkled her nose while looking at the soda but offered a smile to show she wasn't mad.
"Germ freak." Luna shot at her while grinning around the glad as she took a sip and winked at her. Jane smiled back while tucking her legs under herself on the chair.
She leaned back in her chair and settled her eyes in Tony's long time friend, Rhodey. Rhodey was older then them by a few years and had graduated already, joining the army. He rarely had time anymore to visit.
"Hey there. Long time no see." Luna remarked.
Rhodey smiled in response and held up the beer he held in fingers. "Nice to see you too twerp."
She laughed out loud and relaxed in her chair and talking easily with them.
Luna sat talking with her friends for a while, enjoying the company. Eventually there was knock on the door and everyone looked over to see Steve walk through the door. Both his muscled arms where high in the air, several boxes of pizza balanced on his palms.
Natasha ducked under his arms and slithered past, a smile on her lips and a her hands clasped behind her hips.
Tony smiled widely and leaned the side of his face against Pepper's arm while his arm tightened more around her waist as she sat in his lap.
"Well now it's a damn party." He remarked, grinning over at Steve.
Steve set the pizzas down and sat on the patio with his friends. "I talked to Bruce and he said he'll try to stop by later. He's busy doing..." Natasha waved her hands in the air a few times and sighed.
"Stress relief exercises with his therapist." Steve added for her. Natasha shot him a look but just nodded.
"What he said." She responded.
No one commented on it or asked and instead moved on to a different subject. Bruce didn't like to talk much about his therapy sessions, in fact, if he had his way he'd stop going altogether. Steve sat next to Rhodey, his arm resting against the back of his chair. Everyone knew Steve sort of looked up to Rhodey, he himself wanting to join the army as well.
There also was that issue that there were supposed to graduate in the same class. Steve missed three years in rehabilitation after his accident and never got to graduate with all his friends and peers.
Even though Steve did not know Rhodey that well when they went to school together, there was still that unspoken bond that he felt towards the young man. Even more so was Steve and Bucky, which no one really talked about anymore since it made Steve so sad to see his best friend, his brother really, go away without him.
Luna got up and received more soda for both herself and several other people. Unlike Tony, Rhodey, Thor, Natasha and Steve, Luna wasn't sipping on beer. She would have been surprised at Steve but Rodgers claimed it was healthy to indulge once in a while and stopped after just two.
A few hours later Luna found herself laughing and joking with her friends. It being a cold, November night in Albany, the began to sun set quickly and the temperature dropped quickly. Thor and Pepper had walked around earlier and lit the various torches that the Starks had around their patio and pool.
The pool seldom got used and Luna thought it was mostly there for looks. Although her father's estate was bigger then Thor's, the Odin estate was longer width wise. Thor's pool was much longer since their home was farther from the city and had the space to stretch so most the pool parties were held there.
It was a few minutes shy of six that Luna found herself laughing merrily. She leaned back in her chair while Thor gestured widely with his hands while explaining some joke.
It was then that her phone began to ring and Luna leaned forward to grasp it from the table top.
Without glancing at the caller ID Luna answered and help it to her ear.
"Hello this is Luna." She responded while taking a sip of her soda.
The was a slight pause before he spoke. "You sound like a telephone operator." Loki remarked with a breathy chuckle. Luna found herself smiling.
"Just practicing for my dream job." Luna remarked and stood from the table and walked away a few steps from her crowd at friends. Luna stood by the covered pool and looked up to watch the beginning of the sun set. "I was wondering when you'd call. Are you on your way?"
There was a long pause over the phone before she heard Loki give a brief, kind of hesitant chuckle. Luna felt her face scrunch in confusion.
"Well, I am glad now I kept where we were going tonight a secret." He remarked. "Now it can still be a secret for another day."
Luna frowned slightly and rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet once. She felt the brief spread of disappointment go through her body. She was surprised by herself at how fleeting that feeling was, since she knew Loki would not cancel in less it was important.
"Oh really?" Luna smiled and turned around to face her friends all around the patio. "Well I suppose I will just have to look forward to another night having you all to myself then." She spoke in a teasing manner before continuing. "Sooo..." Luna looked down and kicked at the dirt that wasn't there. "What will you do tonight then?"
Once again there was a long pause from Loki and Luna once more found herself frowning deeply. She started pacing back and forth. "Are you... okay?"
Loki let out another short chuckle. "I actually don't know what I'll do tonight to tell you the truth. I can't see how driving will be safe with my arm like this." Loki responded, ignoring her second question.
There was another second of silence between the both of them before Luna gave a short, worried chuckle. "Loki you're acting like a weirdo. What's wrong?"
"Well I was simply being honest," Loki responded with a light teasing quality to his voice before sighing once more. "I don't know what I'll do. I might just sit here on my bathroom floor waiting for the pain to go away. Might to go to a clinic or something, but the bleeding at least has stopped."
Luna's mouth fell open in a silent gasp while she stuttered for her words. "I... I- Uhh.."
"Now before you freak out-"
"What do you mean?!" Luna nearly yelled in to her phone. She glanced over to see several of her friends looking her way before she turned quickly and spoke a little bit lower. "Are you okay? Why are you calling me? Do you need me to take you somewhere? I can call someb-"
"Of course you'd freak out." Loki all but grumbled into the speaker before sighing loudly. "I'm not sure. It seems like only a second degree burn but I-"
"Wha- what? WHAT?" Luna didn't care if her voice got shrill and she turned in a half circle, bringing her palm up to rub her forehead. "Oh my, Loki, seriously go get that checked out." Her voice was slightly lower now. "Even second degree can get infected. What, I mean, how? Where did you burn yourself? You are seriously stupid for not immediately seeking medical attention."
"I admire your worry for me, even if it is insulting to my intelligence, but Luna, it's fine." Loki paused for a moment before speaking again. "It was stupid. I was just boiling water for tea and the handle on the pot broke." Loki sighed once. "As far as I can tell it's only second degree, but I must admit it hurts."
"Can you see bone? What does the muscle look like? It it bleeding, or, or blistering?" Luna turned in a half circle again and ran her palm against her cheek roughly.
After a second Loki spoke. "Bleeding and blistering, yes. But no, I see no bone. Of course not."
Luna growled once and began walking towards the table again. "I'll be there soon." She ground out between her teeth.
Loki chuckled once again over the phone. Luna couldn't understand why he was being so calm about this. Didn't he himself say it hurt?
"Well at least I'll get to see you for a little bit tonight." He remarked. "Okay, I'll wait for you."
Luna smiled the fraction of a grin and sighed as she reached the table. "I'll see you soon." She breathed out before hanging up and looking around the the faces of her friends. Thor and Tony shot her a worried look, probably thinking her and Loki were fighting.
"I'm sorry I have to go." She spoke in a weary tone while fishing out her keys from her pockets.
"Is everything alright?" Thor asked in his deep tenor of a voice while leaning forward.
Luna sighed and rubbed her cheek. "No, you're dumb brother burnt himself. Instead of going to the hospital like be probably should have done he's sitting on the bathroom floor in pain."
"He burnt himself?" Thor asked, bewildered while standing and setting his half finished beer on the table.
"He said he was boiling water." Luna frowned deeply.
No one else said anything, all conversation stopping. Natasha shared a look with Pepper, who in turn looked at Tony and frowned. Tony shrugged one shoulder and turned away. Thor stood slowly and frowned. "I'll go with you."
Luna cocked her head to the side. "You don't have to. Really, if you wanna stay you can."
Thor's only response was a smile and a shake of his head before he turned to say good bye to Jane.
Luna turned and started walking towards the door. "I'll see you guys later, okay?" Luna turned slightly and smiled at her friends. "It was nice while it lasted." She winked before hopping through the door frame with Thor following.
Since Thor had had a few drinks, and Jane would most likely need his car to go home the two of them climbed into Luna's car.
Luna frowned to herself and turned on her radio for back round music.
"I don't think he'll be happy you brought me." Thor commented while running a hand across the scruff of his chin. He shot her a brief smile before letting it fade.
Luna grunted without actually saying anything and brought her finger to her lips to tap on her teeth without thinking.
After a few seconds Thor spoke again. "How bad did he say he was hurt?"
"He didn't." Luna spoke before she clarified, "I got the impression he was down playing it a lot."
Luna shivered then, reaching her arm backwards without taking her eyes away from the road. She flailed her arm around the back seat for a while before sighing. "Hey big guy. Can you get my jacket from the back seat? I'm not sure I can reach it."
Thor nodded more to himself then her and reached back to receive her worn leather jacket that Natasha got her a few years ago for her birthday.
He tossed it on her lap and she smiled for a second without looking at him. "Thanks."
They drove in a silence that was only interrupted by the soft sounds of her radio. For the most part Luna ignored Thor next to her who seemed content with twiddling his thumbs together. She felt a little angry, although she wasn't sure why.
Because someone she cared about was hurt? Or the fact that he didn't seem to be taking care of his injury?
Whatever the reason Luna sighed deeply and tried to make her feelings simmer down. She looked over at Thor and smiled slightly. "Do you mind if I had a smoke?" She asked sheepishly, thinking that was probably the reason she was so on edge.
He looked at her with a weird expression before smiling broadly.
She noted Thor had a great smile.
"Sure, go ahead. Your top is down so I probably won't even smell it anyway." He responded.
Luna smiled and without a word shifted about in her purse for the familiar feeling of her pack. Luna dragged it out with one hand and rolled it once between her index finger and her thumb. "What a horrible habit." She muttered to herself before setting it between her lips and lighting it.
Okay, so It's been a while since I've updated! (Almost a month now!)
I took a small break since I've been so busy with work! I plan on updating two chapters a week from this point onwards. One from Loki third person and one from Luna third person.
I want this to be fifty chapters long, maybe fifty five just to flesh out more detail and story. I have an epilogue already typed that could lead into a sequel depending on how it's received.
I also have a mini series/story that I plan on uploading that coexists with this fic. Each chapter will feature a different character from my story and help get a little background in there. The first chapters will feature Natasha, Tony and Clint.
Anyway, thank you for sticking around. :)
