"But you're still married with mommy"

"Is Spencer going to be my new mommy then?"

"What about mommy Emily?" Katy was asking nonstop, it was like the little girl wasn't even taking her time to breath after every question
"Princess, I know you have a lot of questions right now and I promise I'll answer every one of them but you have to calm down first, ok?" Paige said with a very calm voice trying to sooth her daughter's eagerness
"Ok…" the little girl started to take deep breaths, trying to slow down a bit
"Now… are you feeling better?" Paige asked a little concern; she knew this wasn't going to be easy but she never thought her daughter could get to a point to almost have an anxiety attack
"Yes, mommy…" the little girl made a pause, looking intently at her mother "can I start with my questions now?"
"Ok, go ahead…"
"What is going to happen with mommy Em?"
Paige thought carefully about her answer; she thought Katy would be more interested on knowing about hers and Spencer's relationship but it was totally understandable that she was worried about Emily's safety
"Well, you already know that mommy Emily and I are living in different places, that means each of us has a house now, houses where you can live in whenever you want to" Katy nodded at her mother's words "and the reason why we live apart now is because… because mommy and I are not a couple anymore, we chose to live separate lives" the little girl was still looking intently at her mother, she wanted for her to finish before daring to ask something "and yesterday I… I asked officially… for… the divorce"
"Divorce?"
"Yes" Paige took her time to analyzed her daughter's reaction, noticing that her little girl was confuse about the term "Look, princess I know this is new for you so I want to explain you everything and if you have a question just be free to ask, ok?"
"Ok"
"You'll see… there are official papers that a couple have to sign when they get married, just like mommy Emily and I did years ago" Paige looked at her daughter and so far she didn't find a sign of doubt in her little face, so she continued "now that mommy and I are not a couple anymore we need to sign new papers so we can replace the others" to explain the whole process of separation to a four year- old kid was harder than anyone could tell "which means that with those papers our marriage will be over"
"So she is not going to be your wife anymore?" but Katy was a special kid, smart enough to understand everything she was listening to. Since Katy started to think for herself, Emily and Paige have been focus on teaching her how love and respects were the main values a couple needs to start a family and it looks like based on that statement, Katy was understanding what was going on, so maybe this won't be as hard as Paige thought it would be
"Exactly"
"And… mommy Em would stop being my mommy and now Spencer will be my new mommy?" Paige looked at Spencer for the very first time since she started to explain everything to her daughter and for her surprise Spencer went out of her frozen state and took the lead this time
"No, princess… of course not" she wanted so badly to hold Katy in her arms but she was afraid of the little girl's rejection so she chose to keep her distance "no one is going to replace mommy Emily. She will always be your mother and she and mommy Paige will do everything to make you happy. Nothing between you and your mothers will change, the only difference is that now I love mommy Paige with all my heart and I want to make her happy too, just as much as you do" Spencer could feel Paige's gaze on her but she was hundred percent focus on Katy, she wanted to demonstrate the little girl how important she was for her "I love you very much, you are like a daughter to me but I'm not going to force you to see me as a mother, what I want is for you to feel free to love me and to be around me as much as you want to. I love the idea of you being my friend and if that's what you need then I'll be the best friend you'll ever have, just… please don't be mad at me because of the way things have changed" Spencer looked at the floor scared of what Katy's next move would be, after all the things she had been through she never thought a little girl's opinion would be that important to her but then again, she never thought her life would change the way it did.
"I'm not mad…" Spencer raised her gaze at Katy's voice; she didn't know if she should be surprised or relieved "I'm just… confused" Katy frowned
"What about, princess?" Paige asked
"You don't love mommy Em anymore, you love Spencer now…" Paige nodded "and Spencer loves you back" she looked at Spencer waiting for an answer, which came as a form of another nod "and you make each other happy but…"
"What?" Paige asked again
"Who makes mommy Em, happy? Because she's very sad right now"
"I'm sure she would fine someone who can make her happy too" Spencer assured her
"She already did" Paige mumbled, gaining a glare from Spencer. Thankfully, Katy didn't pay attention to that comment
"Ok… if everybody is happy then I'm happy too"
"So that means that you're ok about me and Spencer dating?"
The little girl move closer to Spencer "you promise you'll take care of my mommy?"
"I promise"
"And you won't stop being my friend?"
"Never"
"Then, yes…! I'm ok with it" Katy jumped into Spencer's arms, the woman finally letting out a sigh of relief
"You have no idea how happy I'm right now. I was scared you'll be mad at me" Spencer confessed her
"I could never be mad at you, you're my best friend and I love you" Katy said, still with her little arms around Spencer's neck. Spencer looked at Paige; her girlfriend was sporting an 'I told you so' kind of smile
"And that's all that matters to me, princess" Spencer return the embrace, a single tear falling down her cheek; she had been holding her emotions during the whole conversation and now that everything was out and settle she couldn't contain her happiness anymore
"Wait!" suddenly; Katy broke the embrace
"What is it, princess?"
"I just find out something…"
"What's that?"
"If Spencer is going to be my new mommy someday, then Melisa would be my new aunty! Wow…" Katy breathed out dramatically "one day I only had two mommies and now we all are a big family… That's awesome!" she yelled excited
Paige and Spencer were laughing hard at the little girl's statement, they couldn't be happier than that exact moment. Katy's reaction was way better than they have expected and that was taking a huge weight out of their shoulders.
Just a couple of minutes later, Melissa walked carefully into the living room; she didn't know how they were handling the situation so she tried to be discrete to not disturb their conversation. For her relief, she found the girls laughing and sharing hugs so she just waited on the corner of the living room until the moment was over
"Melisa!" Katy was the first one to notice she was there, making Spencer and Paige turn around to look at her too "guess what?"
"What?" Melisa smiled at her
"My mommy and Spencer are girlfriends, and they are going to live together now" the girl shared excited
"They are?" Melisa asked looking at her sister
"Yes, isn't that awesome?"
"Of course it is. I'm glad you're excited about it"
"I really am. Mommy won't be alone anymore and Spencer has promised to take care of her"
"I'm sure she will…" Melisa looked at Paige and Spencer and could literally see the relief and happiness display on their faces
"What if we celebrate then?" Paige asked "we have ice cream on the fridge"
"Yes!" The rest of the girls yelled enthusiastic
The rest of the night passed by uneventfully, the four girls shared a quality time until Katy fell asleep on her mother's lap. That's when they decided to call the night off and go to their respective rooms.
"I don't know why but I have the feeling you have something between hands" Spencer looked at Paige with narrow eyes. They were on the kitchen getting everything ready for dinner
A whole week had passed since the big revelation and Paige had spent most of that week making plans with Melisa for Spencer's surprise dinner party, which of course didn't go unnoticed by Spencer who was starting to feel a little bit jealous of the time her sister was spending with her girlfriend
"What do you mean?" Paige asked confuse, trying to look as innocent as possible
"Don't get me wrong but you've being spending an awful amount of time with my sister and I don't know what to think about that"
Paige grinned at her "is it me or you're jealous of me and your sister spending time together?"
"Jealous?" Spencer huffed "Please… I'm not jealous, I'm just… curious that's all"
"Well, if you must know… Melisa and I are just bonding, that's it. Besides, we have a lot to talk about, she is handling my divorce remember?"
"No, I know… I just…"
"You're jealous because you think we're leaving you behind?"
"I already told you…"
"That you're not jealous. I know, I heard you but just so you know I would love for you to be at least a little bit jealous. It looks cute on you"
"No it doesn't, it makes me look silly"

"I hate you" Spencer said to her sister faking annoyance

Paige pecked Spencer's lips one last time before taking the diches with her into the diner room follow by Spencer who was helping her to carry the rest of the food.
The bright light coming through the window caught the naked form of two girls; their breathing steady and deep. Paige was the first one to feel the sunlight hitting over her face, making her stir and forcing her to open her eyes. She took a few seconds to adapt to her surroundings, immediately feeling the weight of her lover's limbs over her body; Spencer's right arm was over Paige's chest and her right leg was entwined between Paige's legs. "Kind of…" Paige smiled wildly "I love to make love to you; I could do that every morning for the rest of our lives…" Spencer grinned at how beautiful 'the rest of our lives' sounded "but yeah, I want for this morning to be special and I want for this day to be the best"
"YOU are the best…" Spencer leaned forward to peck Paige's lips "the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you"
"I love you too… so much" Paige answered, looking directly into Spencer's eyes
Spencer moved her hand from Paige's abdomen to cup her face, kissing her passionately. Paige replied with the same eagerness, sliding her tongue slowly into Spencer's mouth. The kiss was getting heated as the seconds pass, their bodies were asking for more and they were more than ready to go for a second round until the sound of the alarm made them jump, pulling them away from each other.

"I was getting there…" Paige was having a difficult time to concentrate; Spencer's lips against hers were clouding her mind "the other reason is that it's your birthday and I promised our little girl to pick her up to have lunch with you"
"Wait" Spencer stopped abruptly finally leaving Paige's mouth "I thought Katy will spend the day with us"
"I thought that too but Emily is taking her to Rosewood, she is going to visit her parents and she is going to take Katy with her"
"Ow…" Spencer said surprised, she couldn't hide her sadness about the news, she really wanted to spend her birthday with Paige and Katy because for her; they were her family now
"I'm sorry. I should have told you sooner" Paige apologized
"It's ok. I'm just disappointed, you know. It's my first birthday with you guys and I wanted for her to be here too" Spencer didn't want to ruin the morning's mood but it was pretty hard to pretend not to care about Katy's absence on that special day
"I know… but I promise we can do something together as soon as she's back"
"Yeah, sure" Spencer understands the little girl's need to spend time with Emily but not even that made her feel better. Despite her sadness, Spencer tried to show Paige the best smile she could
"Hey… I promise this will be the best birthday ever" Paige encouraged her
"It is already… you're here" Spencer kissed Paige tenderly

"Come on. I've planned this whole breakfast thing for us" Paige move out of the bed offering her hand to Spencer so her girlfriend could follow her
"I can't wait for it. I'm starving…" Spencer took Paige's hand and move out of the bed too "someone took all my energy away" Spencer grinned sexily at Paige
"Hmmm, let's try to recover that energy then…" Paige pecked Spencer's nose sweetly "But first, we need to take a shower"
"Mmm… a hot shower; with my hot girlfriend. This IS the best birthday ever" Spencer grinned again before following her girlfriend's lead, walking with her into the bathroom.
Once they were fresh and ready to 'start' their day, Paige guided Spencer into the kitchen, were a beautiful bouquet of roses was waiting in the middle of the island.
"Oh my God, those are beautiful…" Spencer trailed off, holding the bouquet in her hands, feeling the fragrance getting into her nostrils
"You like them?"
"I love them. Thank you" Spencer turned around to kiss Paige
"You're welcome" Paige kissed her back and then moved to the table pulling a chair so Spencer could take a sit "now, my beautiful girlfriend… please, come sit down, we have a great day ahead of us"
"What about work?" Spencer grinned, recalling Paige's words
"Ok, we have a great day ahead of us… after work" Paige grinned back
Paige started to set the table; going from the fridge to the cupboards, looking for everything she needed to start breakfast, refusing Spencer's help and insisting that she got everything under control. Once the table was settled, they got into a perfectly comfortable breakfast, talking about their plans for the rest of the day.
"Wait…" Spencer suddenly remembered something "we've been up for a couple of hours now and the annoying person sleeping in the guest room hasn't show up yet. Where is she?"
As on cue Paige's phone vibe, letting her know that she got a new text message
-Can I go home now or you're still jumping my sister's bones?-
Paige's face turned red as she was reading Melisa's text. They made an agreement the night before where Melisa will leave the house early in the morning so Paige and Spencer could have some privacy
"Talking about your sister…" Paige trailed of, letting Spencer know it was a text from Melisa
"What does it says? And why are you blushing?" Spencer noticed her girlfriend's reaction
"Well, you know your sister… she has a particular way to ask for things" Paige tried to avoid Spencer's gaze "she had to leave early to meet a client and now she wants to know if she can come home"
"I don't get it… why would she think she can't…" Spencer looked at Paige and saw the redness in her face again, understanding why Paige blushed in the first place "oh… she thinks we're in the middle of…" she stopped when she saw Paige nodding eagerly
Spencer broke into laughter in front of the whole situation and Paige sighed in relief, knowing that her girlfriend was still clueless about her plans. Paige took her phone and sent a text to Melisa letting her know she could come back whenever she wanted to. The couple went back to their breakfast, making jokes and laughing about how Melisa had the wrong impression of them doing it all the time as rabbits
"Well, can you blame her?" Spencer smiled "every time she turns around we have our hands on each other"
"Well, can you blame ME?" Paige replied "how can I keep my hands to myself when I have the hottest woman living with me? It's like having free chocolate for the rest of my live and not be able to eat it"
Spencer rolled her eyes playfully at the statement but knowing exactly what Paige was talking about; she was feeling the same thing.
"You're so sweet…" Spencer took Paige's hand over the table "but a little cheesy sometimes" she squeezing it smiling playfully.
They fell into a comfortable silence until the doorbell took them out of their peaceful state
"There… you talk about her and she appears" Spencer smiled, waiting eagerly to fight back her sister's jokes
"That's weird; your sister has a spare key"
"Maybe she was on a rush this morning and she forgot" Spencer suggest
"Maybe…" Paige stood up and left the kitchen to move into the living room. She opened the door and realized it wasn't Melisa the one knocking at the door "Yes? How can I help you?"
"Good morning…" the young man on the other side of the door greeted her "I'm looking for Spencer Kingston. I have a delivery for her" the guy showed Paige a bouquet of roses, similar to the one she gave Spencer almost an hour ago
Paige looked at the bouquet of roses and then looked back at the delivery guy; giving him a small smile, trying to ignore the negative feeling growing inside her. She signed the delivery form and thanked the guy before getting into the house and directly to the kitchen
"Who was it?" Spencer asked when she saw Paige walking into the kitchen, surprised by the new bouquet of roses in her hands "who are those for?"
"These are for you" Paige said, trying to hide her annoyance
"Another one? Thank you but you didn't have to…"
"These are not mine" Paige cut her off
Spencer looked at her confused "who are they from, then?"
"I don't know… there's a card in here" Paige took the small envelope that was placed on a side of the bouquet and gave it to Spencer
Spencer took the little card from its envelope and started to read it, surprised and worried about the content.
"So… who are they from?" Paige was holding her anger as much as she could; she had a pretty good idea who sent those flowers
"Just… my boss, wishing me a happy birthday" Spencer smiled nervously
"Oh! How nice of her. Can I read it?" if the flowers were from the person Paige thought they were, Spencer lying to her will only make everything worse
"It's just the same boring stuff people write to be polite" by this point Spencer was beyond scared. She didn't want to lie to Paige but letting her know who sent the flowers will only hurt her and make her mad.
Paige looked at Spencer intently "is there a reason why you don't want to let me read that card?"
Spencer gulped hard; she could tell Paige was losing it "No, no reason"
"Then let me see it" Paige insisted
"Fine… I lied" by that point Spencer had no choice but to tell Paige the truth "those are not from my boss, those are from…"
"From…?" Paige trailed of, hurrying Spencer to talk
"From Wren" Spencer said almost whispering
And just like that the air on the room changed drastically; the revelation hitting Paige like a punch on the guts. She knew how hard and sometimes unbearable, the fact that Spencer was still married would be, but the way reality was hitting her over and over again was making her lose her self-control. First, it was Emily trying to seed doubts into Spencer's brain and now Wren sending gifts to her girlfriend. She had made a promise about being patient but for once she would love to enjoy her time with Spencer without hearing about the man that, one way or another, was still attach to her.
"Why did you lie?" Paige asked, feeling anger running through her veins and sadness forming in her heart.
"I was scared. I didn't want for you to get mad and I didn't want to ruin our morning. I'm sorry"
"Oh… so you thought that lying about your husband sending you flowers will be better than telling me the truth?"
"Of course not…" Spencer replied "and you know he is my husband only on paper"
"My point exactly" Paige fight back "it looks like your Husband…" Paige said the last word bitterly "thinks that you two are still a couple, giving himself permission to send you these" Paige said angrily, pointing at the bouquet of roses
"He was just trying to be… nice" Spencer pointed out; she knew the whole situation was getting out of control
"Nice?" Paige asked sarcastically "ok… I'm going to be nice too and I'm going to leave so you could enjoy your gift" Paige turned around walking out of the kitchen.
"Paige, come on… are we really fighting over this?" Spencer asked in a desperate attempt to make Paige stop
"No, Spencer… we're fighting because YOU lie to me about your husband sending you flowers on your birthday. That's why we're fighting for" Paige took her keys from the table on the hall and opened the door to leave, finding Melisa on her way out
"Paigy… how's everything going?" she asked excited
"Ask your sister…" Paige reply coldly before leaving the house
"What the hell…?" Melisa was concern about Paige's behavior. She walked around the house looking for her sister; maybe Spencer could give her some kind of explanation.
"Spence?"
She walked into the kitchen founding her sister there "What happened!?"
