Back again! I've been taking some time out to read some of your stories as well as reading my own! I couldn't remember everything that I'd done! My favourite female ADA has to be Alex Cabot but she hasn't been here so far, which may seem strange, sorry!
Elliot sat staring at his blank computer screen; they had been both away from the babies for three hours now. There were DD5s to fill out but neither Elliot nor Olivia could focus on them long enough to complete them. Finally after another twenty minutes of tense silence, Olivia spoke up.
"They're okay, right?"
Elliot seemed to slowly realise that someone was talking but unsure of the answer himself, he answered with a questionable tone.
"Yeah, yeah, of course they are! The nanny has a great background and has all our numbers if there is any problem,"
Once again it was silent.
"We could ask everyone about the wedding to take our minds off the kids?", Elliot suggested.
"Great idea, I'll go call Alex and you talk to the guys?"
"Yep,
"Oh! Leave Cragen to me!"
"No problem,".
Elliot and Olivia simultaneously got up from their chairs and walked in opposite directions.
"Finn, Munch,", Elliot called as he walked to their desks,"can I talk to you guys fro a sec?"
"Sure,", Munch replied enthusiastically ditching his DD5s.
"Well, Olivia and I were talking the other night about the Wedding and I was wondering if you guys would be my best men?", Elliot asked.
"Of course!", Finn stood up and patted Elliot on the back.
"It would be an honour!", Munch replied.
Olivia occupied an empty team room along a corridor by the bull pen. She waited as the fourth ring went off on the phone and no answer. It was unlike her to pick a call from the precinct. As Olivia gloomily put down the phone there was a knock at the door.
"Liv?"
"Alex! I was just calling you!", Olivia said, shocked to see her friend in the door way.
"Sorry I had to come over and talk to Munch about this alleged flasher but on my way over to his desk, your lovely fiancee directed me in here,", Alex explained.
"Yeah, I would have actually preferred to do this in person anyway,"
"Well, what's up?", Alex asked as she took a seat next to Olivia.
"I have something pretty big to ask you. Would you please be my maid of honour?", Olivia asked, holding her breath.
"Oh my goodness! That's not even a question!", Alex took hold of Olivia in an emotional hug.
"Thank you! I'm so excited!",
"I'm excited for you! I can't believe this is really happening and with Elliot, finally!"
"What do you mean finally?", Olivia queried.
"Well everyone could always see how close the two of you were, it's been on the cards for years Liv! You can't honestly sit here and say to me there was never anything between the two of you before all this?"
"I don't know, maybe? I don't even care any more; the past is the past. I couldn't even imagine the life I had before the babies, our babies. I am just so happy with right now that I don't care how long it took us to get here,", Olivia said, overwhelmed.
"I'm so happy for you and Elliot,"
"I have to go and talk to Cragen, so I'll talk to you later,"
"Of course!", Alex said with one last hug.
Don sat at his desk and watched the commotion around him; Elliot laughing with Finn and Munch, Alex disrupted it with a harsh look at them all and Olivia walking towards him. They may not be working right now but this was the best team he's ever had and god dammit if they can't laugh once in a while then there's no point to life outside the job.
"Cap?", Olivia interrupted his train of thought.
"Yes?"
"I'm not disturbing anything am I?"
"No, no. Have a seat Liv,"
"I wanted to talk to you about the wedding,"
"Yes, Elliot was telling me about Gotham Hall,"
"Well, you know that I don't really have a Father and one of the big things at weddings is when the Father of the Bride gives her away. I'm sorry if this crosses the line but Don, I've always felt that you were like a Father to me, and I was wondering if you would do me the honour of giving me away?", Olivia spoke softly and a tear slowly drizzled down her cheek.
Donald Cragen sat quietly in front of her and after one minute, decided that he would now be able to speak without completely breaking down.
"Liv, a lot of things cross the line in this precinct and every single of you out there is family. The one thing that certainly does not cross a line nor would I care if 1PP said it does, is me giving my.. Daughter away at her wedding,", Cragen then realised that minute wasn't long enough and he joined Olivia as tears streamed down both their faces as they rose and clutched eachother tightly.
After two minutes of hugging and tissues, Olivia and Cragen walked out of his office. Everyone was standing laughing, including Alex.
"I didn't realise this place was a circus? And that I employed clowns?", Cragen shouted.
"Sorry cap,", Finn said as everyone's smiles dropped and evacuated back to their desks.
"Work, now!", Cragen shouted a little quieter than before and walked back into his office but not before giving Olivia a quick wink.
"I thought he'd be happier after you asked him to give you away, not more annoyed!", Elliot joked when Olivia gave him a good kick on the shin.
It reached five and Elliot and Olivia had eventually finished their DD5s for the day.
"We better go over to Kathy's before we grab dinner,", Elliot announced.
"Yeah, we don't want to interrupt their dinner,", Olivia agreed.
Elliot and Olivia reached Kathy's house and rang the bell; Maureen answered almost immediately.
"Dad!"
"Hey! How are you?", Elliot asked as he entered and gave Maureen a hug.
"I'm 18 not 8, you don't have to hug me every time you see me,", Maureen laughed.
"I don't have to, I want to!", Elliot replied as he squeezed tighter.
"Okay, okay!", Maureen screamed.
"Daddy!", Elliot Jr squirmed out of his mother's arms.
"Hey buddy!"
"Hi, Elliot, Olivia. What can I do for you guys?", Kathy asked calmly.
"You look great!", Olivia stated.
"Thanks, I feel great,", Kathy smiled.
"We wanted to ask the kids some stuff,", Elliot replied to her previous question.
Kathy gathered all five of her children on the couches in the living room.
"Your father and I were talking about our wedding...", Olivia started.
"and we were wondering if you would all like to be in it?", Elliot finished and grasped Olivia's hand.
"Yes!", Dick shouted.
"Are we going to be bridesmaids?", Kathleen asked pouting at Olivia.
"Yep and Dickie and Eli are going to be bestmen!", Olivia answered.
"Ahhhh! Yay!" all the girls screamed in chorus.
As the kids overwhelmed Olivia with questions, Elliot took the chance to take Kathy aside and really talk to her for a minute.
"Are you okay with all of this?", Elliot began.
"Yes! I'm doing great, really, I am. And even if I wasn't okay, I'd have to learn to be,",
"If the kids become too much or you feel that you can't control anything, I'm right here,", Elliot hugged her; he loved her too much to watch her self-destruct
Kathy, in that moment, felt that Elliot had always loved her, there was no worries or doubts, he would be there.
"We better get going and feed our babies,", Olivia said to him after she made an escape from the questions.
"Yep, I love you, all of you,", Elliot spoke in the direction of Kathy, in reassurance, " see you at the weekend, okay?".
Everyone shouted goodbye to him and Olivia; Kathy waved gently.
