„Yes, on the day of the party, the bunny suit was in the locker room." Barney was talking with the two detectives, in Scott's office. He was high on their list as a person who knows a lot about the mechanism of the animatronics and the persons who usually wore the suits. And if they knew, that he surely is the highest on their list but not only for this reason… it was a terrifying and exciting thought.
„I was wondering why was itt here since I had no idea that anyone would wear it that day. I was the one they asked to help them into the suit, you know."
„So it is not possible for a single person to jump into it?" Watson asked.
„Well… they can, but it wouldn't be simple. Scott have already showed the suits to you, guess."
The detectives nodded.
„So you already know that if someone just jump into them, the suits can be dangerous. If someone is taking it on alone, it requires lots of attention and competency, and they can be accomplished it very slowly."
„And you didn't see someone walking in and taking it on."
„No, of course not! It was just lying in the corner, and there was nobody else in the locker besides me. I didn't even care it a lot, because I was coming earlier than my shift to take a look at the new animatronics."
„And did you see the missing children? As I know, you and them were close." Watson took a look at his notes. „The manager said that they liked you. Maybe you did some talk with them on the party?"
„Sadly no." Barney shook his head, and put on a sad expression. „I wish I did! Maybe it would change things. Maybe then that sick bastard would change his mind."
„What do you think, is it possible that the culprit knew the children? Did he have a reason, or could he think he had a reason to abduct those certain kids?"
Now comes the dangerous part. It's time for Barney to show his full cooperation and goodwill, and tell them about the incident with Toy Foxy. He was considering a lot if he should tell it or not, since it was a heartfelt bond between him and the kids, and it would make him look suspicious, but in the case the kids were talking about somebody else, it's better if he tell them first.
„Well…" He started, lothly, if he felt it was ridicoulos or nothing, „Maybe there is a thing. It might cause some madman to feel anger toward the children, but it is such a small case, I don't know if it is worth to talk about."
The detectives looked at each other, with a sharp look. Barney was satisfied that they fell for his bait.
„I assure you, sir," Said Bryers in the end, „That in this moment, any small clue might be the one that points to our culprit. We are talking about a monster here, who kidnaps children, this person is capable of anything! They don't need a logical reason like you or me."
„Okay" Barney sighed, and he was a bit annoyed by the way the detective talked about him (even if he had no idea that the person he is talking about was sitting right before him). „It happened a few months ago that Foxy, the animatronics fox from Pirate Cove was replaced by a more femine robot, and the children, especially the Cole boy, didn't like it. Once, when there was nobody else in the room, they destroyed this new robot. I caught them in act, but when they was just about to finish it. They looked really startled when they saw me."
„Are you sure there was nobody else in the room, just you and the kids?"
„Yes, and the security cameras can't look into the Pirate Cove too. But it is possible that before my arrival there was already someone there, but they left without telling anything to the children. If that's the case, it would be really weird, and that person probably planned something evil."
„Why do you think so?"
„Think! Any reasonable adult person, especially an employee of Fazbear's, would shout at the vandal kids, and pack them off the restaurant."
„But you didn't do this either." Said Bryers, and looked curiously at Barney. „Why?"
„Because it wasn't vandalism, you know." Barney answered, but felt it wasn't a proper answer. „I mean, it was vandalism, of course, they destroyed an expensive robot and stuff. But only because they felt that the existence of that robot is an insult of their old favorit!"
„I understand it." Watson nodded. „So do you think that somebody saw this – as they call it – vandalism, felt hurt by the destruction of their poor little robot, and thought the only way to solve this is revenge on the kids?"
„I know it sounds silly, but that's all I can think of." Barney shrugged and hoped that the detectives will chew this quarry for a bit.
„Well, it is worth considering." Watson said. „But now we need to talk a bit more about the persons who usually wear those suits."
They asked question from Barney like half of an hour, and he told everything they wanted to hear. He was talking about Kyle and Peter, who wore the suits the most often, and Susan and Nate, who wore them only a few times.
It went really well, the detectives wasn't suspicious at all, or they made Barney to think they are not. Then they thanked him for the help and that they will look for him if thy need some more answers. Barney smiled, and assured them that he will help when he can, and he also can't wait to see that filth rotting in the prison.
He made the whole shift without any mistakes, he acted a bit sad, a bit worried, but still helpful and friendly. He was driving home, thinking through the whole day, what he said, how they react when suddenly he felt a violent flitch in his stomach. He trampled on the brake and pushed the door just before he threw up. He loudly vomited on the road, made some of the passerby look at him unapprovingly, but he didn't care.
When he wiped his mouth he saw his hand was trembling too, and suddenly he realized, like an icy stroke, how dangerous game he is playing. He stood there, frozen, until the chorus of honks behind his car startled him. No, he can't be that weak! He can't make a stir, and this little vomit-out-of-the-car show was exactly making sensation. Fortunately, there were no cops around him, nor the two detectives neither somebody else. If he make him look suspicious, it will be really bad for him. And it is not just about the prison – although he knew how inmates handle the persons who hurt children in any way. But what if one of the mourning fathers grab a gun and shot him before the courthouse? It wouldn't be a first time a thing like this happened.
He didn't feel ready to drive home. He stopped before a cafe, and walked in with his legs slightly trembling. He ordered a strong black coffee and he was just sitting there until he felt the sickness is gone.
