Sydney: So we are back again with another exciting chapter of Kingdom Hearts: Card Keeper.
Sora: This chapter isn't that exciting. It has a screaming match between Sydney and our new character, Kiwi.
Sydney: I know it may not be all that exciting but it's our 35 chapter. That is the very exciting part.
Sora: Anyway, read, enjoy, follow, favourite, review, and everything else you guys do here.
Sydney: I also do not own Kingdom Hearts or any of the characters. Wanna get that clear before we let you read.
Chapter 35: How can I be okay?
Kiwi's Point of View
I really didn't know what was going on. One minute I was walking home with my chemistry textbook in hand. The next, I was being held hostage by some evil mad men. Now I was stuck with a guy, a duck, a dog and Sydney Jackson. The first three I didn't know that much about but I knew Sydney. We were in the same grade with only one class together. She was quiet, didn't have any friends, and was constantly picked on by majority of the school. A couple days ago, she didn't show up to school. Most people believe that she ran off but I knew that couldn't have been the case. Her twin brother, James, was concerned about what happened to her. It was all he could think about during school.
"I know it isn't much, but this will have to do." Sydney said as she showed me to a room on their ship. She was right, there wasn't much there. It consisted of a bed, nightstand and a small closet.
"You're right about that one." I muttered as I walked into the room.
"I'm just next door if you need me and Sora is right across the hall." She said as she motioned to the door just across the hall. The door was open slightly and I could see the boy with the light brown spiky hair laying on his bed with some kind of book in his hands.
"You know, your brother is worried about you." I told her and I could see her stiffen at this news.
"I highly doubt that." She said before she left the room. I looked around my room again before falling onto my bed. I had no idea what was going on with their family. A couple of years ago, things use to be different. Sydney didn't wear such dark and plain clothing, she spent time with her brother. James wasn't so worried about her back then. Then everything changed. They became distant from each other and other people.
"You know, it can get very boring here." A voice told me and my head shot up to see Sora standing there.
"I don't remember inviting you in." I told him as he leaned against my doorframe.
"Technically, I'm not in your room. I'm in the hallway talking to you." He said as he moved his feet backwards a bit.
"Can you just go away? I'm not in the mood to talk." I told him as I moved so my back was facing him.
"Now I can't go away yet. You aren't smiling and the only way we can move on is if everyone is smiling." Sora said as the bed dipped a little, indicating that Sora has officially came in.
"I'm not in the mood to smile or act happy." I told him.
"Neither am I or Donald or Goofy or Sydney. We just lost our best friend, Sydney's boyfriend. We're all hurting but we know that we have to keep moving on in order to find him. You may not care about any of us but if you wanna go home, you are going to have to pretend to be happy so we can go on with this stupid journey." Sora stated as he kicked the nightstand in anger. I didn't know what to say or what to do in this situation.
"Sydney's twin brother, James, is always worried about her. He is a couple minutes older than her but she use to act like she was the older one. They were pretty much inseparable until one day two years ago. They just grew apart, Sydney stopped talking to everyone expect for some teachers and James grew more worried about her. He is pretty much the prefect older brother to have and she doesn't even realize it." I told Sora. I couldn't help but smile at how great James is. He saves Sydney from majority of the pranks that the populars have all set up. I wish that I could have a brother like that.
"There we go. A smile." Sora said as a smile appeared on his face. While talking about James and Sydney, I must have ended up smile.
"Shut up." I said as I lightly pushed him away. He ended up laughing, which made me laugh.
"Doors stay open Sora. We don't want another Sydney/Roxas incident." Donald said as he walked by the door.
"Alright Donald." He said before bursting into laugh the moment Donald was out of earshot.
"What's this Sydney/Roxas incident?" I asked as I moved to sit up next to him.
"Well, before we went to Twilight Town. Sydney and Roxas disappeared from the deck and I went searching for them. I found them on Sydney's bed, their lips connected, him onto of her. It looked like they were ready to do something much more serious. After that, Donald wouldn't let them in the same room as one another and to make sure that they didn't, Goofy and I had to sit in front of their rooms." He said which made me laugh. Maybe being stuck with him won't be so bad.
Sydney's Point of View
I was mad. Actually that is a complete understatement. I was furious, depressed upset, lonely, and any other negative emotion I couldn't think of. I was furious with the fact that Roxas went with him. I was depressed that he wasn't here with me anymore. I was upset about the fact that Kiwi brought up James like that. I know he is protective of me. I knew the moment the pranks didn't happen. But with everything that has happened, it's not like we can just go back to what we use to be. I was lonely because Roxas was gone, Sora was spending time with Kiwi and the others just weren't paying attention.
"Next stop, Hallow Bastion." I muttered as I place a pillow over my ears to block out Sora's and Kiwi's laughing.
"Looks like there are more Heartless now." Goofy said as a group of Heartless ran past us. I knew that we were in for trouble, I just didn't know how much trouble.
"Let's go check in with everyone." Sora said as a group of Nobodies flew past us. It appears that there were more Nobodies as well as Heartless. All these signs just point to trouble.
I think they're at Merlin's." Goofy said as Sora nodded his head. He then turned his head towards Kiwi and offered her a smile, which she returned. God, this was becoming sickening to watch. Why couldn't they just kiss and be happy?
"You okay Sydney?" Goofy asked me as we started to make our way to Merlin's.
"I'm fine. Just thinking about things." I told him and it was the truth.
"You thinking about Roxas?" Donald asked as he appeared next to me, giving Sora and Kiwi some alone time.
"I wasn't until now. I was thinking about how those two should just kiss and be all happy and stuff." I told them. The fact that Donald brought up Roxas' name just makes me so depressed. I miss him like crazy but there isn't much I can do at the moment. If there was any way I could go get him, I would have already done it but I know this whole situation takes time. The World that Never Was will eventually show itself to us and that we'll find a way to it once all the other worlds are completely safe. It doesn't matter how long it took, I knew that I was going to be with Roxas again, whether it's in a cell, chained to a wall or inside the castle, free to move however we wanted.
"It'll take time. As far as Sora's brain is concerned, he's still in love with Kairi and she is still in love with him. Soon enough, Sora will start questioning who he actually likes while Kiwi will be confused as to what she's feeling. Then finally, once something big happens, they will finally realize how they feel about each other." Donald said.
"Isn't that what happened between you and Roxas, Sydney?" Goofy asked.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that." I said as Sora and Kiwi stopped to a man dressed in all black with blond spikey hair. I knew it was Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, the one game that confused me so much. Donald and Goofy ran forward to talk with Cloud. I skirted around the group towards the Borough. I needed to get all my anger out and fighting Heartless and Nobodies seemed like the best way to do it.
"Sydney!" I heard Kiwi shout a few minutes after I started fighting.
"What do you want?" I asked as I turned towards her. My daggers still in my hands.
"Are you okay?" She asked me. I feel like I have been asked that question a thousand times today.
"How can I be okay? I was transported to another world, stuck with video game characters that shouldn't exist. I made friends with these characters. Hell, I even fell in love with one of them. Then the one person that I really need to have by my side trades himself for you. I thought everything was going to be fine because I had a bookworm by my side but then you go and mention James and how worried he is. I know how worried he is! I see it every time I look at him, I don't need you tell me all about his feelings. I've spent my whole life with him. I think I would know how he is feeling by now!" I practically shouted at her. I couldn't just hold it in anymore, everything was just becoming too much for me.
"You think I don't feel any of this. I was one of his best friends before your parents died. I was with you guys through every test, every event that happened, every single fight you guys got into, he would tell me it all. Ever since you pulled away, he started to worry about you. You were the one thing on his mind. It got so bad that nobody could stand being around him. You think I want to be here because I don't. I want to go home and finish school. I want to not be stuck with the one person who ruined my best friend." Kiwi basically shouted back at me. Her face was red with anger and hatred. I never knew she felt like that.
"Hey, Sydney, Kiwi. We better get going." Sora said as him, Donald, and Goofy finally came into the Borough. We both turned to look at the three of them to see that they were confused.
"Right, let's head over to Merlin's." I said before I started heading in that direction. I could head their footsteps as we walked. I knew that everyone had something on their minds that they wanted to say but none of us said anything.
