I'm sorry for the long wait. The internet connection in my house has been murder on me. Plus I've had track meets and practices, I'm so BUSY! Can't wait for school to end and I can write at my leisure. Hope you like this chapter! Oh, and if you read any of my other stories, I'll update those ASAP, but I have a track meet tomorrow, so I won't be able to do it then. Oh, and one last thing, I am NOT giving up this fanfic, I was worried that people think that, I'm just busy, I promise I'll update.
Chapter 36
Was she a good warrior? She had been there when Willowfur died and was unable to save her. Surely a good warrior would try everything to save a clanmate, but she had sat there, as weak as a newborn kit. No, Willowfur wanted her to be a warrior, she would be a warrior. "I'd take a disabled warrior over a scum-bag like you any day." Patchfeather meowed, determined not to show any emotion. Flamewhisker hissed and struggled against Dewdrop's paws.
"Get off me! I'll make sure the Free Cats tear your throats out!" Flamewhisker yowled.
"Not even loyal to your own littermates, what a shame." Dewdrop snarled, digging her claws in deeper.
"If I had half-decent littermates-" Flamewhisker was cut off as a large brown cat hurtled towards them from the brush. Patchfeather yelped and leapt out of the way, claws out, teeth bared.
The brown cat hissed at her, but seemed distracted. Dewdrop gave a snarl and dug deeper into Flamewhisker. "Flamewhisker! We found the messenger!" No, they couldn't have...
"Who?" Flamewhisker choked, Dewdrop was practically strangling him with her paws.
"Bring her out" the brown cat meowed. "We found her in the forest, she was near the river. After a few...threats, she told us who she was." The brown cat explained as the bushed rustled behind him and two more Free cats, a silver one and a white one pulled out the messenger. Streamfall.
Patchfeather's heart dropped, they had found the messenger. The silver she-cat was scratched and beaten. Her usual sleek, silver pelt, was now a dark red. Her alert, blue eyes, were now dull and defeated. Without hesitation Patchfeather threw herself at the white Free Cat. She landed on her back, the white pelt was already stained red from her claws. Without second thought, Patchfeather buried her teeth into the she-cats shoulder. "Snow!" The brown cat exclaimed. Snow thrashed and let go of Streamfall, who weakly slashed at the silver cat. Patchfeather's weight was too much for Snow, and her legs buckled. Patchfeather slashed the cat's chest, and buried her teeth into her ear. Blood filled mouth. Snow yowled and slashed at Patchfeather, connecting with her flanks, but Patchfeather didn't feel it. She had to save Streamfall, she would not loose them both!
Suddenly, Patchfeather was tackled, the brown cat had tackled her! She fell onto the ground hard, and before she could even move, the cat had pinned her with one strong paw. Snow stood up shakily shook her pelt and ran at Patchfeather. Patchfeather squirmed against the cat's paw, but he was HUGE! Snow dug her teeth into Patchfeather's neck. Streamfall cried "NO!"
But Patchfeather had freed one of her front paws and slashed Snow away before she could do any real damage. "Get...er' off me, M-Mud!" Flamewhisker croaked. Patchfeather dug her teeth into Mud's paw, more blood filed her mouth and Mud yowled. Snow lunged at her, her claws connecting with her muzzle, her own blood dripped into her mouth. Suddenly, the silver cat was there too. He grabbed her free front paw and bit down hard. Patchfeather whimpered deep in her throat, but refused to let go of Mud, if he killed Dewdrop...
Another silver shape tackled the Free Cat with her leg. Streamfall. The tom fell hard and scurried off into the night when Streamfall gave him a bad slashing. Snow was pulled off and the two she-cats hissed and spat at each other, exchanging blows. But Patchfeather didn't notice. Mud had turned his attention to her.
