Hi lovelies! sorry this is another boring filler chapter but i hope you semi enjoy it! thank you so much for reading! xo~Alex
Izzy walked down the hall towards the bathroom as she rubbed her groggy eyes. She was dreading going to school. Izzy saw the bathroom door cracked open and pushed it open, only to be met with a half naked stranger brushing his teeth.
"What the hell!" Izzy yelled as the stranger smiled at her.
"Morning." He said as Izzy looked at him confused. "Do you guys have anything to make pancakes?" He questioned before Amber pushed past Izzy and glared at the stranger.
"I told you to leave." She spat before ripping the toothbrush out of his mouth.
"I wanted to make you breakfast." the guy told Amber as he tried to wrap an arm around her waist before Amber shrugged him off.
"Get out Jared." Amber spat before grabbing his arm and shoving him out the door.
"Aww, c'mon Amber." he said before Amber pushed him towards the stairs. "Let me take you to dinner." He offered.
"I'm allergic to food." Amber spat before hastily guiding him down the stairs and shoving him out the front door.
"Can i at least get my shirt back?" He questioned.
"Nope, Now get out of here before i turn the sprinklers on." She smirked before slamming the door shut and locking it.
"Who was that?" Izzy questioned from her spot halfway down the stairs.
"Jared, he's a busboy at the restaurant Leigh works at." Amber stated before making her way towards the kitchen.
"And what was he doing here?" Izzy asked as she followed Amber into the kitchen.
"Oh please izzy." Amber said as she grabbed a bottle of grapefruit sparkling water from the fridge. "You know why he was here." Amber laughed.
"Aren't you afraid your dad will catch you sneaking guys in here?" Izzy asked.
"I know Daddy's schedule." Amber stated. "His assistant sends me a copy of it every week so i know exactly where he is if i ever need him." She added. "I now also know when it's acceptable for me to get into trouble." She smiled.
"Wow, people really underestimate how smart you are." Izzy said before Amber shrugged.
"I was just unfortunate enough to find the one guy in the world who doesn't want to hit it and leave." Amber sighed before handing Izzy a bottle of spring water.
"Whats this for?" Izzy questioned as she looked at the bottle.
"Water intake is very important." Amber stated. "And pretty girls drink lots of water." She pointed out before Izzy shook her off.
"So what's so bad about Jared that you don't want to date him?" Izzy questioned as she pushed her glasses up. "I thought you wanted a boyfriend." Izzy pointed out before amber shrugged.
"I do." She said. "But Jared isn't the guy." She added. "He's a very nice play thing though." Amber mused. "Tall, dark, handsome and he speaks spanish." She said with a small smiled. "Muy sexy." She added before Izzy laughed.
"You have fun with that Amber." Izzy stated.
"Flings are fun." Amber stated. "It's just pure infatuation and fun." She said as Izzy looked at her curiously. "You know what i mean." Amber said before shrugging her friend off.
"I don't." Izzy told her before Amber sighed.
"Oh please don't tell me you've only had sex with guys that you're emotionally invested in." Amber said. "There's no fun in that." She added.
"No." Izzy said softly. "I've never really had a boyfriend to have sex with." she added before Amber choked on her water.
"You're kidding." Amber questioned. "Izzy you're gorgeous, how is that possible?" Amber asked.
"I was just waiting around for Drew..." Izzy trailed off before Amber groaned.
"Wow, i really hate this guy." Amber said. "You've at least had your first kiss right?" Amber asked, causing Izzy to stay silent. "Oh my god, even Chase has had his first kiss and he's actually the human embodiment of tube socks." Amber pointed out.
"I just... i was so far up Drew's ass that i didn't even think to really look at anyone else." Izzy sighed.
"Well you need a rebound." Amber stated. "And you can find one at the party i'm throwing." She smiled before Izzy looked at her horrified.
"No, Amber i'm fine." Izzy protested.
"You're sixteen and you you're squeaky clean." Amber pointed out. "Have some fun, live a little." She smiled before Izzy frowned at her. "You don't have lose your virginity to the guy, just flirt and bat your eyelashes." Amber told her. "It's fun." She added before making her way up the stairs before Izzy put her head in her hands, dreading of the party to come
*************Leigh sat on the counter of the lab, finishing her makeup as her boyfriend impatiently waited for her to be done.
"C'mon Leigh, you don't need all that crap on your face." Adam told her as Leigh sent him a small glare.
"First, it's Urban Decay, and secondly, i like putting it on my face." She smirked before finishing her lipstick application.
"I'm bored, let's just get to school." Adam told her as Leigh plunged the lipstick applicator into the tube.
"You know," Leigh smirked as she looked at her boyfriend. "This lipstick is transfer proof." She added. "Bet you can't mess it up." She added mischievously before Adam smirked at her.
"Challenge accepted." He stated before leaning in, Leigh swiftly dodging him.
"Don't want to be late to school." She whispered before hopping off the counter.
"That's not cool." Adam told her before Leigh shrugged as Leo walked in, a large smile on his face.
"One of you attack me." He stated before Leigh and Adam looked at each other curiously.
"Why would i do that?" Leigh questioned.
"Yeah, i know how this works." Adam said. "First you tell me to attack you, I say no, then you taunt me till I snap, it's not gonna happen." Adam stated before Leo threw a water bottle at Adam. "Oh it's on little man!" Adam yelled before Leigh rolled her eyes. Adam went to charge at Leo but stopped short when he saw two silver orbs fly above either side of Leo. Adam looked at metal spheres curiously before he was zapped by two bright red lasers that originated from the orbs. Adam fell to the floor and Leigh let out a small giggle. "Leigh run!" Adam exclaimed as he stood up. "The Christmas ornaments are turning against us!" He yelled before pulling the petite girl behind him.
"I'm insulted that you feel the need to protect me against the evil christmas ornaments." Leigh said to Adam
"They're attack orbs." Leo explained as the orbs flew off. "They're my latest invention." Leo smiled as Leigh looked at him impressed.
"Wow, You made those?" Leigh questioned before Leo nodded.
'When they receive a threat within 5 feet of me, they attack. They're mobile robotic body guards." Leo explained.
"Thats cool and all," Adam started, "But haven't you ever thought of lifting weights or working out?" Adam questioned before Leigh smacked his shoulder.
"I designed them to help protect you guys from Douglas and Krane." Leo started before Leigh huffed.
"Again with the whole, 'Leigh needs protection' shit." She sighed. "I can handle myself." She stated before Leo shrugged her off.
" If I'm going to be a true inventor, I have to start making things without Big D. And, if I prove myself maybe he'll eventually let me be his business partner." Leo said as he looked over the blueprints he had drawn up for the attack orbs.
"Right! Cause every billionaire needs an incompetent relative that brings nothing to the table." Eddie stated from his spot on the screen in the wall. Chase walked in and Adam grinned at his brother.
"Hey when are we leaving for school?" Chase questioned.
"Chase! Why are you attacking Leo?" Adam asked loudly as Chase looked at his brother confused.
"What?" Chase questioned before Adam grabbed his brother and shoved him at Leo. The orbs came flying in and quickly shot Chase down to the ground.
"Awesome!" Adam laughed before high fiving Leo, only to be shot down by the orbs as well. "Do it again!" Adam exclaimed from his spot on the floor.
"C'mon losers." Leigh said as she pulled them both by their shirt collars and pulled them out of the lab.
*************Izzy sat in the library, thoroughly frustrated with her math homework. She could see the worn splotches in the lined paper where she repeatedly ran her eraser. Izzy glanced back at the large Pre Calculus book in front of her before groaning and throwing her head onto the table.
"You alright?" A voice asked causing Izzy to look up and see Chase looking at her curiously.
"Yeah." Izzy sighed as she picked her head up off the table. "Just having some trouble with this math problem." She added.
"Oh maybe i can help." Chase said as he sat down in the chair across from Izzy.
"No!" Izzy protested, slightly too loud for the library. Chase looked at Izzy confused and slightly hurt at her violent rejection. "Just, Leigh, Amber, Bree, Adam and Leo told me that i shouldn't ask you for help..." Izzy trailed off. "...With anything." She added.
"Why would they do that?" Chase questioned.
"They said that you yell and get really bossy and mean." Izzy explained as Chase rolled
his eyes.
"Spanish isn't that hard!" Chase exclaimed. "You just conjugate the verb for the gender and pronoun!" He yelled as Izzy winced.
"Yeah... kind of see what they mean.." She offered softly.
"Okay, well you try to tutor the most aggressive person in the world." Chase defended as Izzy looked at him confused.
"Leigh." Chase clarified before Izzy nodded. "Adam's a brickhead and Amber can't focus on anything academic related for more than five minutes." Chase explained before Izzy sighed.
"Adam's not a brickhead." Izzy stated. "He just takes a little longer learning things." She said before looking at the ceiling. "And retaining information... and sometimes he doesn't think things through..." Izzy trailed off. "...and sometimes common sense doesn't always seem to register..." She added before Chase nodded.
"Exactly." He stated before looking at Izzy's pre calc book. "Is this the problem you're stuck on?" Chase questioned before Izzy nodded. "This is easy." Chase chuckled before Izzy frowned at him.
"Telling someone that something they're struggling with is easy, just makes them feel stupider." Izzy pointed out before Chase looked at her curiously.
"But wouldn't you want to know that what you're doing has a simple solution?" He questioned.
"No, because then i would feel stupid for not thinking of it." Izzy stated.
"But this is so easy, how can't you see that-" Chase started before Izzy cut him off.
"Forget it Chase." She huffed before pulling the book towards her. Chase sighed before looking at Izzy.
"Sorry, i forget that not everyone has bionic intelligence." Chase told Izzy. "Let me try and help you." Chase offered as Izzy looked at him suspiciously.
"You promise not to yell at me?" Izzy questioned.
"Promise." He told her before Izzy pushed the book towards Chase.
**************Bree tugged Leigh in behind her as she entered her house. Adam was sitting on the couch with Tasha, practicing his line for the play.
"Tell them." Bree stated as Leigh looked at Bree nervously.
"Tell who what?" Adam questioned as he looked between the two girls.
"Go on." Bree sighed before Leigh looked at her with a worried glance.
"Can't we just pretend it never happened?" Leigh hissed before Bree glared at her. Leigh
sighed before trying to think about how to say what she needed to.
"So, you know how i got that job at the italian restaurant in the mall?" Leigh questioned.
"Uh huh." Tasha said as Leigh played with her fingers.
"So, um i had this customer... and he sort of rubbed me the wrong way..." Leigh started before Adam sighed.
"Please tell me you didn't." Adam said to his girlfriend who bit her lip.
"Well i didn't..." Leigh started. "...act in a calm fashion that wouldn't have lost me my job." Leigh added before Tasha sighed.
"Sweetheart," She started before Adam got up and pulled her into a hug. "You've really got to work on your anger.." She sighed.
"She's getting better." Bree offered. "She only verbally assaulted the customer." Bree stated. "Oh and the food she dumped on him was cold." Bree pointed out as Leigh looked at her with a soft glare. "Sorry." Bree mumbled before going and sitting on the couch.
"Let's get you some tea." Tasha stated before Adam pulled Leigh down onto the couch.
"You hated that job anyway." Adam mumbled before Leigh sighed.
"That's not the point." Leigh told him softly as Davenport walked in through the front door.
"Hey family." He smiled as he saw a distraught looking Leigh on the couch.
"Whats going on?" Davenport questioned as Leigh looked at Adam nervously.
"Tell him." he said before Leigh huffed.
"Can't you do it?" Leigh questioned before Adam gave her a pointed look and Leigh sighed before looking at Davenport.
"I sort of got fired." Leigh said before Davenport looked at her curiously.
"What do you mean sort of?" Davenport questioned.
"I mean, if i didn't leave the premises they were gonna call the cops." Leigh laughed nervously before Davenport sighed.
"Leigh.." He started before Leigh nodded.
"I know." She huffed before relaxing back into Adam's side. Tasha brought over a warm mug and handed it to Leigh.
"Oh don't forget that Adam's play is tomorrow night." Tasha reminded before Davenport stood up.
"Oh would you look at the time." Davenport said before Tasha grabbed her husband's arm and pulled him back towards the living room.
"You're going." Tasha said sternly before Adam looked at Leigh and his sister.
"Do you guys want to help me practice my line?" Adam questioned.
"Adam, it's one line." Bree said. "Do you really need to practice?" She questioned before Adam gasped and stood up, causing leigh to move and slosh her tea around.
"Awww." Leigh pouted as she shook her hand and tried to wipe excess tea off the outside of the mug
"It's the most important line in the whole play!" Adam exclaimed "Without me she never finds mission creek." Adam pointed out. "It's the entire emotional thrust of the second act Bree." Adam explained before plopping down next to Leigh, causing more tea to spill.
"Adam!" Leigh whined as she set the mug down on the coffee table as Amber and Izzy walked through the door.
"There's this new organic pizza place that just opened up downtown." Amber said as she looked at the three teens on the couch. "So grab leo and nerd boy and lets blow popsicle stand." Amber smiled before Leigh looked at her confused.
"Why is she so perky?" Leigh asked Izzy.
"Um some guy named Gryffin works there," Izzy explained. "I guess Amber is excited to see him." She shrugged before Adam gasped.
"Deerfield Gryffin?" He questioned before Amber nodded.
"We go in looking super cool and hot and then Gryffin regrets missing out on me." Amber smiled before looking at Leigh. "Oh i need to borrow Adam and pretend he's my date." Amber explained before Leigh looked at her confused.
"Um, no?" Leigh questioned as she wrapped her arm around Adam's bicep. Amber looked at Adam with a pleading look as Izzy took a seat in the chair adjacent to the couch.
"You heard the little lady." Adam told her before Amber huffed. Chase walked into the room, still in his tech town uniform.
"Okay guys," Chase started. "Prepare to be wowed!" Chase announced before Amber groaned.
"Chase can you not right now?" Amber questioned before turning back to Leigh. "Who is supposed to be my fake date?" Amber questioned.
"Take Chase, you went on a date with him once." Leigh laughed before high fiving Adam.
"That was the best mismatch ever." Adam sighed.
"I created a new app called 'Dirt Alert'." Chase stated as he held up his phone. "It tells you the exact type of rock or soil beneath you and how long it's been there!" He exclaimed. "Wanna try?" He questioned as he held the phone out to Tasha.
"Why do you guys let him out of the house?" Amber questioned before Chase shot her a frown.
"Thats a good question." Bree mused before Amber turned back to Leigh.
"Can i please borrow your boyfriend?" Amber questioned.
"No way, he's my boyfriend." Leigh told her cousin before Amber huffed and glanced over at Chase.
"Oh dear god this better work." Amber sighed before standing up and grabbing Chase's arm and pulling him out the door.
"Where are we going?" Chase questioned.
"Is it bad that i want to see how badly this fails?" Adam questioned before Izzy shook her head.
"Nope." She said before getting up and following Amber, the rest of the group following suit.
************Leigh glanced around the auditorium before spotting Tasha, Leo, Amber, Izzy and her Uncle in the front row. She made her way over and Izzy giggled as Leigh sat herself down next to her.
"You brought Adam flowers?" Izzy asked with a smile as she spotted the bouquet of sunflowers in Leigh's lap.
"Well yeah." Leigh said. "He deserves something after his debut performance." She laughed before Izzy looked at Leigh and let out a soft laugh.
"You two are so cute." Izzy smiled before Leigh rolled her eyes out of embarrassment.
"I'm excited to properly meet Adam." Uncle Robert said from his seat.
"Please don't be weird daddy." Amber said to her dad.
"I'm not going to be weird," Robert told his daughter. "I just want to make sure that Adam is to standard of man that my niece should be with." He stated.
"He is Uncle Robert." Leigh told him.
"And if he should step out of line then i have a group of friends who will set him straight." Uncle Robert stated.
"Daddy!" Amber hissed before Leigh let out a nervous sigh.
"What?" Robert questioned. "I'm just protecting my niece, and frankly any of you girls." Robert stated. "If any guy treats any of you girls poorly then i will make sure he learns his lesson." he added.
"And Adam thought he dodged the whole 'scary dad who threatens to kill me' thing with Leigh." Leo whispered to his mom. The lights dimmed and the play started without a hitch. The first act dragging on and the intermission not seeming to be long enough. Leigh impatiently waited for Adam's line as the second act commenced but the play seemed to slowed its pace even more at that point. Leigh sat up straight as she saw Adam gallop on to the stage with a fake horse between his legs.
"Woah, woah, bullseye." Adam said as he put the horse down before taking a big drink from his canteen.
"Here comes his line." Leigh hissed to Izzy as she nudged her.
"Excuse me good sir," Janelle said in her fake southern accent as she approached Adam. "I'm on a mission, to find a creek." she told Adam. "Pray tell, have you seen one?" Janelle questioned before Leigh excitedly grabbed Izzy's arm.
"Ahhh! Its his line!" Leigh hissed as Izzy quietly giggled at how excited Leigh was.
"M'am," Adam started before his face went blank, his mouth wide open as he struggled to remember his line. "Line!" Adam yelled before Leigh sighed.
"M'am, you're standing in it!" Tasha whispered, trying to help Adam out, but Adam was so nervous that he didn't seem to catch on.
"Quiet Tasha, i'm doing a play!" Adam yelled before Leigh ran a hand over her face.
"Oh man." She sighed as the silence grew longer before Leo barreled through the door and fell on the floor.
"Totally fell for it!" Trent yelled as he flung his limbs around. "Woo! Gym teacher wins!" He laughed as Leigh began to stand up before Amber and Izzy quickly pulled her back down to her seat.
"Okay you can not assault the gym teacher!" Amber hissed as the two attack orbs that had blasted Adam and Chase the other day flew to Leo's rescue. Once Trent's eyes landed on the orbs his face contorted in fear.
"Oh no." Trent said, obviously terrified. "The flying balls of doom!" He yelled before running through the rows of seats. "Get out of my way! You're all losers!" He exclaimed before Robert looked at Amber.
"How is he allowed to be a teacher?" he asked his daughter who shrugged before the orbs shot a pulse wave at Trent. Robert quickly grabbed Amber and Izzy before tucking them under his arm. The orb repeatedly shot at Trent as he made his way onto the stage.
"Dooley make it stop!" Trent yelled as the gym began to clear out, before the orbs shot down a curtain and causing it to fall on top of Trent, covering him completely before he crawled his way out of the auditorium. The only people left were Adam, Leigh, Tasha and Leo. Izzy, Amber and her father were hiding behind a prop barrel before Leo ran up to Leigh who Adam had tucked under his shoulder.
"Do something!" Leo exclaimed before Adam looked at him confused.
"Leo, my heat vision isn't going to help anything." Adam explained. "I think it might just piss them off." He added before Leo looked at Leigh.
"I might have an idea." Leigh said as she flicked her hand and had small lightning bolts dancing in her palm before shooting the orbs, causing them to short circuit and fall to the floor.
"Uh.. Leigh.." Amber said as she grabbed her cousin's attention towards the shocked look on her uncle's face. Leigh felt her stomach drop as Davenport entered the auditorium with Bree and Chase behind him.
"What'd we miss?" Davenport questioned before Robert charged at him, pinning Davenport against the wall with his hands around Davenport's throat.
"You turned my niece into a science experiment!" Robert yelled as Amber tried to pull her father off of Davenport.
"Dad stop!" Amber yelled before Leigh was able to pull her uncle away from Davenport.
"I'll sue you!" Robert screamed. "I'll take everything you own and then some, I'll put you in jail!" Robert yelled before Leigh shook him.
"Uncle Robert stop!" Leigh exclaimed. "This isn't Mr Davenport's fault!" She said as she tried to catch her breath.
"Leigh whats going on?" Davenport questioned.
'Don't you talk to her!" Robert yelled before Leigh put a hand on her uncle's arm, bringing his attention back to her.
"Stop!" Leigh yelled before looking at Mr Davenport. "Leo invented these attack orbs and they got out of control, so i used my bionics to take them out." Leigh stated. "I thought everyone had cleared out but i guess i was wrong." she said before looking back at her uncle. "Mr Davenport didn't make me bionic." Leigh said. "He didn't even really make his own kids bionic." She explained. "He has this evil brother who kidnapped me and implanted a chip in my neck." Leigh said as her eyes got teary. "I still have nightmares about it." She added with a nervous laugh. "But Mr Davenport," Leigh started. "Has done nothing but try to teach me how to use something that was designed to be evil to be something good." Leigh said. "Mr Davenport gave me a job, took me in when my parents left, and now he's trying to teach me how to use my bionics to help people." Leigh explained. "He's been the dad i've never had." Leigh said as she wiped at her eyes. "And i'll defend him til the day i die." Leigh stated, trying to keep her composure as much as she could. Robert looked at Davenport and then at Leigh before nodding and going to pull Leigh in for a hug.
"Thank you." Robert said to Davenport as he hugged his niece. "Thank you for taking care of her like that jackass never did." He said before Leigh pulled back from her uncle.
"You can't tell anyone about this." Leigh said to her uncle. "Not about me, Chase, Bree, Adam.." She trailed off before Robert nodded.
"You're my family," Robert told Leigh. "And if they're your family, and you want to protect them, then i will do the same." He explained before everyone let out sighs of relief.
"Thanks dad." Amber said as she hugged her father.
"Alright, now i would love to take you all out to dinner to celebrate this young man's uh... fine.. Performance." Robert said as he pat Adam on the shoulder before turning to his daughter. "Amber, weren't you talking about a new pizza place the other night?" Robert asked his daughter before Izzy snickered.
"No!" Amber exclaimed loudly before flipping her hair. "Um, pizza is overrated daddy." Amber explained. "Let's go get chinese." She suggested before pushing her dad out of the auditorium. The rest of the group followed close behind before Davenport pulled Leigh aside.
"Thank you for defending me like that." Davenport told her.
"How could i not?" Leigh questioned. "After everything you've done for me, it's the least i could do." She said.
"I know i'm hard on you guys sometimes, but know that it's just because i want you guys to be the best you can be." he said before Leigh nodded.
"We know, even though we might think you're an ass about it sometimes." Leigh explained before Davenport rolled his eyes.
"You're my kid, you know that right?" Davenport questioned as he threw an arm around Leigh's shoulder. "You're my kid just as much as the others." he said. "I don't care if your real dad wants you back, you're my kid." Davenport told her before Leigh smiled at him.
"Thank you." Leigh said. "And i'd never pick that prick over you." She told him.
"Okay you really need to calm down with the language." Davenport told her as the two exited the auditorium
*********"Wow, your uncle asks a lot of questions." Adam sighed as he flopped down on Leigh's bed, recounting the dinner where Robert grilled the four teens about their bionics.
"He's just curious." Leigh sighed. "And i'm surprised he took it so well." She added before Adam looked at her like she was crazy.
"He tried to choke out Mr Davenport." Adam pointed out.
"Yeah, but after the fact." Leigh pointed out before sighing. "Now everyone important in my life is filled in." Leigh smiled. "No more secrets." She added before collapsing down on her bed.
"No more secrets huh?" Adam questioned as Leigh looked at him curiously. "You told me the nightmares stopped." He stated before Leigh sighed.
"I just didn't want you to worry." Leigh sighed before Adam pulled her under his shoulder.
"It's a good worry." Adam told her before Leigh rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the flowers by the way." Adam said before pressing a light kiss to her temple.
"Mhm." Leigh sighed, obviously beginning to get tired. "Don't fall asleep," She mumbled. "You need to sleep in your capsule." She pointed out softly before Adam rolled his eyes.
"I'm serious though," Adam said before rolling Leigh so she was facing him. "The flowers meant the world to me." Adam said as Leigh looked at him confused.
"They're just flowers Adam." Leigh sighed, trying to keep her eyes open.
"Yeah, but you're just so cute and supportive and i don't know..." Adam sighed. "I've just never really had that and i appreciate you." He said softly as he ran his thumb over Leigh's cheek.
"Such a mush." Leigh teased before snuggling herself closer to Adam. "I love it." She mumbled before pressing a small kiss on his t-shirt covered shoulder. "I'm serious about sleeping in your capsule tonight." Leigh told him as she rubbed at her eyes.
"Let's just watch one episode of the office." Adam told her.
"Only one." Leigh said before looking at her phone. "And i'm setting an alarm in case we fall asleep." She said before Adam groaned.
"Such a buzzkill." He teased as he pulled Leigh under his arm and the laptop into his lap.
