Arthur opened his door just as he heard the slamming of Ariadne's apartment door. His eyes widened slightly as he saw Andy, red faced and dishevelled, standing outside. Swallowing, the dark haired man turned to go inside, realising he was in danger of being spotted. As he opened the door to head back in, Andy turned, his eyes narrowing.
"Arthur!"
Arthur swallowed, and looked at him. The taller man was breathing heavily, and looked angry, and humiliated. Arthur put his hand on the door, and spoke quietly.
"Andrew. Do you want to come in?"
"What for?" The lanky man spat. "So you can rub the fact I've just been rejected in my face? Or so we can bond over how spiteful women are?"
Arthur blinked. "Andy. Stop the mysogyny." He shook his head. "Just come inside, and we can talk."
Scowling, the other man looked at him. "Arthur-"
"Andy, just do it." Arthur shook his head. "Please."
Andy stomped over to Arthur's door, and glared at him as he walked in. Arthur closed the door, and faced him. "Coffee? Tea?"
Andy rubbed his face. "Tea, please," he mumbled. "Reminds me of home."
Frowing, Arthur walked into the kitchen and flicked the switch on the kettle. He opened the cupboard, and pulled out two mugs. "When was the last time you were home?"
"A year."
Arthur shook his head. "Maybe you should go home for a bit. Rest. Clear your head."
Andy looked at him, his eyebrows raised. "Really? Why? Worried I might steal someone else from you?"
Arthur dropped the tea bags into the mugs, and poured on boiling water. Waited. Removed the bags, and added cream. He handed a mug to Andy. "Here." The taller man accepted it. "Thanks."
"I don't think you should go home because I think you might steal someone else. I think you should just go home to relax." Arthur shook his head. "You don't look well."
Andy snorted. "You sound like my mother."
"Andy, I'm serious!" Arthur shook his head and walked into the lounge. "You really don't look well! What are you living on, cocaine and coffee?"
Andy sunk onto a chair. "I-"
"Listen, I don't know what kind of things you put Helen through," Arthur continued, "but I do think you need to look after yourself a little better."
"Why thank you." Andy was staring into his tea cup. "Reckon I could be better with someone to look after me."
"Look after you?" Arthur's eyebrows shot up. "Are you serious? What about respect, wanting to be with someone?"
"Yes, but Arthur, I need someone to look after me." Andy looked at him, his eyes large. "I really do."
Arthur got up, feeling disgusted. "I don't believe you. Manipulative as ever. Listen, I think I'm going to head to bed. Please show yourself out."
Andy put his cup down, got up, and stalked out of the room. Sighing, regretting his attempt to build bridges with the other man, Arthur slumped in his seat.
