Sniffles and Sneezes
Oh, no. His dragon is dying and it's all Sirius' fault. It's because Sirius was too cocky and doesn't know how to properly care for a dragon. He just wanted so desperately to prove to his parents that he didn't need them when he set out on his own with a bag of clothes and his prized dragon.
But now, Sirius is left with a terribly sick dragon and no proper way to treat it. Its scales have darkened and it's been twitching a lot. Sirius has the common sense to call his friend James and make him write down directions for the nearest dragon healer.
(Okay, so he might've burst dramatically into James' house in tears and made him stop eating to write down where he could go, but he is trying to save his dragon, dammit.)
He sighs when it seems his lovely Esmeralda makes the journey fine and he leaves her outside for a moment before bursting into the dragon clinic this time.
"You've got to help me," he cries out to the man sitting behind the counter. The man blinks at him in surprise. "My dragon is dying!"
"I'm Remus, the dragon specialist and vet. Please take your dragon to the back of the building where I'll be able to treat her," the man says in a rush, already making his way to what seemed like the back exit.
Sirius runs outside and coaxes Esmeralda into flying to the back. Remus waits anxiously for him and he seems surprised to see Sirius flying with Esmeralda. When they land, Remus approaches the dragon carefully and lets Esmeralda examine him.
Dragons are the best people readers. They know when a heart is true. Remus easily gets acceptance from Esmeralda and he goes and touches her scales.
"Please, help her," Sirius begs, sliding off her back. "She's twitching a lot and I think her scales are getting darker and darker."
Right on cue, Esmeralda twitched and released a bit of fire.
Remus looked at Sirius and burst out into laughter. "She's not dying," he explains. "I think she has a slight cold. Her twitches are actually her sneezing. The scales are her getting ready for the colder season and some of them might shed off. I'd say all she needs is some warm cold medicine and maybe three days of sleeping it off."
Sirius' jaw drops. "She's not dying."
"No," Remus repeats, failing to hide his smile. "But how about I get you that cough medicine?"
Sirius smiles sheepishly and follows Remus inside the building. He was always a bit dramatic.
