"Look at that." Annie blurted out. They all turned their gaze towards the city to see a Titan carrying a giant boulder. It was Eren.
Thump. Thump. Thump. These footsteps were much heavier than any Titan could make from the additional weight Eren was carrying. The ground shook whenever Eren took a step. Eren's Titan looked like it was being crushed by that weight.
"Defend him at all costs! Protect Eren until he reaches the gate, even if it costs you your life! Don't let any of the Titans near him!" Everyone heard the Garrison squad leader yell who was part of the elite force designed to protect Eren. Jean turned his attention to his comrades who looked down into the city.
"Don't let them interfere! Protect Eren!" Jean shouted at them before they all jumped off the wall to face the Titans for one more big round. Jean couldn't even feel the pain in his leg anymore. He was glad that he could move painlessly now but he knew that wasn't a good thing if he couldn't feel any pain. In fact his leg felt completely numb.
There were too many Titans and too few soldiers. They couldn't divert all of the Titans attention if they stuck together like this. The Titans were drawn to Eren. And with Eren getting closer and closer to the entrance, he was getting closer and closer to the Titans that were still coming inside the wall.
"Guys we need to split up! There's too many Titans, we need to divert their attention!" Everyone agreed and scattered into different directions. Jean turned his gaze towards Marco who was ready to shoot his rods out.
"Marco!" Jean shouted to him. Marco turned his his body towards Jean. Jean let out a gentle smile.
"When this is over, you wanna visit Naiyamé?" Jean asked Marco. Marco let out his big goofy smile.
"Sure. I can't wait to see her again." Marco replied back. Jean nodded his head in agreement and Marco was about to leave until Jean interrupted him one last time.
"And Marco." Marco turned his attention towards Jean once again.
"Yeah?" Marco asked.
"Thank you for saving me earlier. I'll see you later, okay?" Jean said as more of a statement than a question. Marco turned his body and looked at the city.
"Yeah." Marco replied back before turning his head to look at Jean and once again flashing his contagious smile.
"See you later." Marco flashed a grin at Jean and jumped off the building and shot his rods out and surged forward. Jean stayed there for a moments watching Marco move away until he looked behind him to see a Titan's hand reaching for him. Jean tensed up and quickly jumped off the building to dodge the Titan's grip.
"I am so fucking tired of you little shits!" Jean screamed out in frustration as he shot his rods out onto the Titan's neck and reeled himself to the weak spot. Jean raised his blades high into the air and swung them as hard as he could at the Titan's neck with all of his fury and hatred of these merciless creatures rushing through his veins.
Jean then saw a Titan merge from around corner, walking towards Eren.
"Hey! Shithead!" Jean called out to the Titan, oblivious of Jean's presence. Jean gripped his blades tight in anger and shot his rods out to a nearby building and brought himself closer to the Titan. The Titan suddenly started to turn it's body noticing Jean. Jean quickly reacted and shifted his body so he could swing at the Titan's leg.
"Fight..." Jean brought himself behind the Titan's knee and reeled in with blades gripped tight in his hands.
"Fight..." He swung them hard and slashed at the skin, getting the Titan's blood on his face in the process which burned his skin.
"Fight..." He quickly moved to the top of a building to avoid being crushed by the Titan that was now falling. He watched the Titan crawl in the direction that Eren was in which angered Jean.
"Fight..." Jean shot his rods out to the Titan's neck and dropped down from the building and raised his blades again. The Titan continued to crawl forward, oblivious of Jean reeling himself closer to it's open weak spot.
"Fight!" Jean yelled with anger as he slashed through the Titan's neck which caused the Titan's body to go limb.
ROAR! Jean turned his attention to Eren who raised the boulder high above and slam it down on the hole in front of him with all of his strength he had.
BOOM! The boulder had been placed. The intensity of the boulder hitting the wall caused it to crack a little but there was no way Titans would ever get through that wall again. The mission was a success. All of the soldiers that died today didn't die in vain for once. Their deaths had meanings.
Jean saw a yellow smoke round fly high into the sky, signifying that the operation was a success. Upon seeing that, Jean quickly rushed back to the safety of the wall. He watched below as Eren's Titan lay limb against the boulder. Armin sliced open the Titan's weak spot, the same place where Eren first emerged and struggle to pull him out. Eren was still attached to the Titan and Armin was too weak to pull him out.
Mikasa and a Garrison soldier met with Armin and the Garrison soldier slashed at the Titan muscle Eren was till fused to. Eren fell to the ground with Armin holding onto him. It was then that Jean noticed two large Titan closing on them. With all of the soldiers having evacuated, there was no one to distract the Titans and they were all closing in on Eren and the others. Jean was about to rush down there until he saw someone or something rush around the the two Titans at an incredible pace and the Titans bodies went limb and they fell to the ground.
Jean saw a cloaked person land on the corpse of one of the Titans, their backed turned against him. But Jean looked at the cloak and saw the Scouting Legion symbol. The cloaked person turned their head to look at Eren and the others. Jean recognized that face from earlier in the day. It was when the all of the Trainees were wishing goodbye to the Scouting Legion, they were leaving on an expedition that day. He saw alot of people cheering for this person. People regarded him as Humanity's strongest soldier and he could see why now. It was Corporal Rivaille.
