A/N: Thanks for pointing out the mistake, I didn't notice and I fixed it now. This is really becoming a nightmare, it's not the first mistake I've made.
BS Covert Ops
We were taken to some land with loads of palm trees and plants. Kind of jungley-if that's a word. It was also inhabited by foreign birds who were making themselves known.
"There will be two guards on watch, you need to get past without getting caught by them. You may not use weapons, and you must get there within five minutes, or you fail and have to repeat it. If you do it within the time limit, you pass," Said LTC Palmer, "Go!"
Perfect, I could now use my ability for this one, which I'd been hoping to do.
I concentrated, staying absolutely still, and faded out. I started walking slowly enough that I wouldn't make any noise and walked straight past the guards.
I was tempted to appear in front of someone magically or tap him on the shoulder, but resisted, and continued to the end without trouble. It was so easy it almost wasn't fun. I just had to breathe quietly and move slowly.
At the end Palmer was standing there alone, I was clearly the first one back.
Resisting the temptation to grin, I stayed invisible, and managed to get right behind him without him noticing.
I went right behind him, visible again now, and leant right in, my mouth right next to his ear.
"Did I pass?" I asked loudly.
The lieutenant colonel jumped violently, dropping his clipboard.
"How on earth did you get there?" he asked in disbelief, retrieving his clipboard.
"Well it's covert ops, I was being covert," I responded, smirking.
"But…" he was interrupted by the arrival of Max.
"Hi there, I'm done," said Max appearing out of the woods.
"Me too," said Iggy, following her. Palmer rubbed his forehead in annoyance. He obviously didn't like being proved wrong.
"Well that wasn't too hard," said Max, standing next to me, "We're nearly done now."
I nodded. Only one more class and we were finished.
"Then we heard a cry of, "TAG! You're it!" and about a second later, we heard a massive fart.
Leave it to Gazzy. Living up to his name of course.
Me and Iggy started laughing and high fived him as he came running out of the woods.
I know I'm fourteen and supposedly mature, but it was still really funny.
"It'll dissipate in a couple of minutes," said Max as Palmer frowned into the woods, "It always does."
He glared at Gazzy, "You were forbidden to bring or to use antipersonnel weapons!" he said furiously.
I smirked, it wasn't a weapon as such, but it was good in the "antipersonnel" section.
"That's the sad thing," said Max, as Angel emerged out of the woods, "He didn't. I mean his name is the Gasman. We're not just whistling Dixie, there."
"Am I the last one?" asked Angel as she approached us, "Sorry, I got sidetracked by some wild orchids." She gave Max a bouquet of creamy white flowers. Cute.
"Ooh, thanks, sweetie," she said sniffing them delicately. And she said she wasn't girly.
"So. Time for weapons class?" asked Max. The LTC glared at her and Angel.
What a mean guy, how can he glare like that at a cute six year-old? True, she was a sneaky and devious six year old, but e didn't know that.
Angel stuck her tongue out at me, and I hard the word 'seven' in my mind.
What? When did she turn seven? Oh, never mind, I'd think about that later.
The two guards staggered out of the woods, helmets askew and gear trailing behind them.
"Ensigns Baker and Kipowski!" barked Palmer, making me smirk. Kipowski?
"All four of these recruits exited the woods within four minutes! Did you see them?"
The Ensigns tried to recover their dignity. "We didn't see the tall dark one, sir, or the tall blonde one, or the oldest girl. We saw the younger boy, but he…incapacitated us."
Gazzy snickered, "Burritos for lunch," he whispered.
I really tried to hold in my laughter, but it wasn't easy.
"What about this one?" he pointed at Angel, who gave him a glowing smile that he did so not deserve.
The guards looked at each other and a look of confusion passed between them that I had seen too many times.
"I think I saw her," one said dumbly, "I don't remember,"
"You don't—" said the LTC speechlessly.
"I might've seen her," said the other one, not daring to make eye contact, "It's just—it's all—I don't know."
Max got up off the ground and looked at him pointedly, "I think it's time for weapons class," said Max.
Max went over to him and started talking.
"Lieutenant Colonel," said Max, "Can I call you L? No? Well, look, it's not their fault. They probably would have caught anyone else. But we're good at this stuff. As I keep telling you."
"But she's a child!" he burst out. I rolled my eyes. Adults were such idiots sometimes, especially narrow-minded ones like him. He hated to think kids were better than adults and refused to accept it. A kid wouldn't have had this problem.
"She's a sneaky and devious child," replied Max, "Plus, you know, I think she zapped the guards. With her mind. She can hear people's thoughts and sometimes control them. It's weird. It's scary, but there you go. Your guys never had a chance."
This did not comfort him, and he glanced at Angel a little fearfully. She smiled back at him like before.
Wait a minute, why didn't Angel zap him and make him get us a sub? Oh well, at least it was fun.
The lieutenant Colonel let his clipboard dangle at his side.
"Weapons class," he said half heartedly, all his confidence gone.
Now just one more subject, and we were off.
A/N: Wow, that took a while. I was pretty busy today and I'm just glad I had time at all.
