Thanks so much for helping me to reach the 500 mark,I love entertaining you guys with my story and this shows me that you appreciate it.
Hope you guys enjoy :)
It was early one Sunday morning when she said it, they were both in bed a sheen of sweat from the activities they did earlier. Wrapped in Castle's arms as he traced loving words on her back.
She sighed satisfied breaking he comfortable silence. "You know when Maddie moved in you expanded the loft by buying the whole floor giving us three other rooms, so Maddie could have her own room?"
Castle just gave a soft Mm hum.
Kate continued, "I was thinking, we should fill those rooms."
He opened his eyes and turned to face her. "What do you mean?"
She looked up at him. "I mean I want a baby, a baby Castle."
Castle looked at her surprised. "Are you sure?"
Kate looked slightly scared. "Sure, if you want, I mean if you don't want to, then we can forget this con…"
He cut her off when he pressed his lips to hers. "Kate I would want nothing more than to make a baby with you."
She gave him a huge grin and kissed him again. "Great, I made an appointment with the doctor for Tuesday so that we can get the all clear and with the wedding in three weeks we'll be able to start trying."
Castle couldn't help but smile at her excitement. "We can start from now." He told her trailing kisses down her neck.
Kate pushed him away, "Not now Rick Maddie is going to burst in here any moment now. I'm surprised it took her so long already, plus we still have to get the all clear from the doctor."
"Fine," He pouted and she kissed his lips.
There was a knock on the door and Kate gave him an 'I told you look.'
"Mommy, Daddy," The voice came through the door and they slipped on the rest of their clothes before answering the door.
Maddie walked into the room her princess pajamas soaking wet and with a doll dripping water and hair sticking in odd directions and it was wrapped with one of her towels. "Lexi and I gave Lisa a bath because I spilled orange juice on her."
She sat on the bed and began patting the towel on the wet doll before attepting to comb through the doll's hair.
"Hey Maddie, how would you feel about getting a new brother or sister?" Kate asked.
Maddie was silent for a while before speaking. "Would I still get to live with you guys?"
Castle and Kate shared a look and Kate placed Maddie on her lap. "No amount of children that we have will make you move out Maddie, you're stuck with us."
Maddie released a relived sigh. "I would be a big sister?"
"Yep," Castle said.
Maddie picked up her doll and stared at it for a long time. "I guess it's okay." She said shrugging her shoulders. They stood and followed her to her room and watched her for a little while as she set up her room for a tea party and Alexis walked in. "Wow is this a family meeting?" she asked.
Castle looked to Kate for her reassurance "Yea, kinda," But before anyone could say anything else without looking up from the pot that she had just set up said, "Mommy and daddy wants to have another baby." She said.
Alexis' eyes widened, "Kate are you…."
"Not yet," She cut off. "We have a visit with my doctor and we won't start trying until after the wedding."
Alexis smiled. "Can I have a brother this time?"
Maddie turned up her nose. "Eww, boys are icky and they have cooties."
The three adults smiled and Castle picked her up. "You don't think that daddy is icky or has cooties right?"
Maddie giggled, "No silly, daddies aren't icky or have cooties only boys my age do."
Castle laughed. "Remember that for the rest of your life and I won't have to bring out my, I have a gun routine."
"Don't worry Maddie your mommy knows how to stop him, I remember how many times she had to bail me out and still does." Alexis said sending a thankful grin Kate's way which she returned.
"And I've taken a lot of complaining and whining for that one." She said rolling her eyes.
"You guys are all still here, so come to my tea party." Maddie urged.
Castle walked in further. "Sure, we'll play with you once the tea isn't coffee, I've had a cup already."
Maddie put her hands on her hip. "Um daddy, we're not playing this is a real party and coffee isn't tea and mommy says that you can't drink too much coffee because you're too old and it keeps you up at night."
Alexis sputtered a laugh she was trying to hold in.
He shot Kate a look who looked at everything else but him. "She did, did she?"
"Let's just get this party started, and maybe afterwards we can talk about keeping things a secret."
She brought out a tray of pastries. "Grams made these yesterday while you guys were gone."
Castle gve the bake goods placed on his tiny plate a suspisious glare. "Grams made these you said."
Maddie nodded her head.
Alexis nugged him when he commented. "Better have the ambulance on call."
Maddie was the first to take a bite." Yummy."
Soon the others took a bite and had the same reaction.
"Try it Castle."
He did and his eyes widened. "You guys are right this is good."
"Where were you when she was making these again?"
Maddie put a hand on her chin. "In my room Grams said that I was too young to learn her secret."
"Exactly what I thought, she bought these from the bakery down the street."
Kate laughed, "I knew they tasted familiar."
"Daddy, where's your proof?" Maddie asked giving him the Beckett glare.
"You've been hanging around grandpa Jim too much."
In the office Kate sat next to Castle and she nervously shook her legs. "Kate relax," He told her flipping the magazine's page.
"I can't I'm a buddle of excited and nervous nerves, I want to make Castle babies." She said.
He soon distracted her with a video he had taken of Maddie dancing.
Her name was called and the doctor entered the room with her cardboard. "Hi Kate," She greeted as they had gotten more accustomed to each other Kate gave her the first name privillage.
"Now you've come to visit me to get the all clear to become pregnant right?" She asked.
Kate nodded her head and the doctor flipped to new page.
"I have good news and bad news which one would you like to hear first?" Kate looked to Castle and squeezed his hand.
"Bad."
"Well Kate, Mr Castle you guys do remember that Kate had a major open heart surgery when she was shoot and went into cardiac arrest you flat lined twice and based on your last cardiac exam your heart isn't as healthy as it should be. So you getting pregnant so soon after that surgery would put you and the baby at high risk and a much greater potential of death. I'm sorry but I wouldn't recommend getting pregnant right now." She explained.
Kate looked up blinking to push the tears back. "And the good news?"
"It won't be like this forever, we'll continue to monitor your heart and the moment you're in the clear or we see the slightest sign of success. I'll let you know. It's not too much longer."
The first thing Kate did when she got back to the loft was go into the room and buried her face into the pillow, then she let the tears fall, Castle had assured her that he wasn't mad and that he still loved her but she knew deep down that he was disappointed. He wanted those little Castle babies as much as she did. She cried herself to sleep. When she woke up Maddie was next to her coloring.
"Mommy, you're awake." She said giving her a smile.
Kate sat up her red rimmed eyes puffy and she sniffled, she tried to smile but was unsucessful.
"Daddy said you were sad so I brought you my, Rarity plushie for you she always makes me feel better."
"And you always hug me and hum songs."
Then she wrapped her small arm's around Kate and Kate put her head on Maddie's lap and cried silently as Maddie sang the song that she often sung to the girl when she was upset.
"It didn't make the disappointment go all away, but it sure made her feel a lot better."
So I did some research and came across the complications of pregnancy after major heart surgery I'm not a doctor so all of the facts may not be accurate. Please comment and review don't forget that if you want to read a wedding to leave your suggestions or you could comment on what you think the surprise is winner will have a shout out in the surprise chapter.
