Author's Note: I don't think I've ever written Beremy before. To tell the truth they are not really a favorite of mine – though they have their cute moments! Christmas themed.
A Snapshot in Time
Pairing: Jeremy/Bonnie
Inspired by: Gift Giving
This is their first Christmas as a married couple.
Therefore he wants it to be perfect.
Jeremy races around, trimming every available surface, stocking the fridge and cupboards with enough food to feed an army (well - on Christmas day their house will be invaded by vampires; best to stuff their faces to keep them from getting twitchy).
Bonnie is more subdued, moving behind him to pick up things he has dropped, adding little finishing touches here and there. She is smiling the whole time, humming an old Christmas carol quietly to herself. She watches her husband carefully, waiting for just the right moment.
It finally comes late on Christmas Eve. Caroline and Tyler have just gone out the door (no doubt tangled up in each other) leaving the Gilberts blissfully alone. They have exactly thirteen hours before their house is filled to the brim again.
While they love their friends and family dearly, Bonnie is eager to take advantage of their current state of solitude. She finds Jeremy stretched out on the couch, looking a bit worse for wear (then again she can't blame him - he had tried to play a game of ball hockey with two vampires and a hybrid). She stands in the doorway, watching him. The twinkle from the tree lights provide just the right amount of light so she can see his eyes flutter.
"Hey, hey, you can't sleep yet," she chides as she pushes off the door frame and steps into the room.
"I can do what I want," he responds, a perfect mix of sullen and humor that has her grinning as she kneels next to the couch. He reaches out, placing his hand on her cheek. "If we go upstairs now you won't have to carry me later."
She laughs. "I'd just leave you here."
"Good plan. I can catch Santa. I have a feeling he's a vampire. Why else has he been around for so damn long?" He snorts and she can tell he is drifting off.
It's now or never.
"I have a present for you," she says quietly and he opens one eye. She smiles as she reaches out to take his hand, wrapping her fingers around his palm. He sits up a little as she pulls it off his chest. It comes to rest against her stomach. There is a pause as he stares for a moment and then meets her eyes, his gaze questioning. She nods. "Yeah…"
Though not even a minute ago he was ready to nod off, Jeremy bolts up causing her to rise, and take a step back. His arms are around her and she is lifted off the ground, a surprised squeak leaving her lips. He is laughing before his mouth comes to land at the corner of hers.
She wraps her arms around his neck and then kisses him properly.
"Merry Christmas."
