Unwanted Visitor

Jon sat in Dr. Watson's waiting room uncomfortably waiting on Claire to finish filling out some paperwork. The waiting room was nicely decorated with plush tan carpets, beige chairs and white walls. A few potted plants sat on a couple of decorative small tables. The walls held a few wall art pictures of mothers holding their babies with beautiful, glowing smiles. The décor and the pictures didn't make him feel uneasy; it was a waiting room full of pregnant women in various stages of their pregnancy that made him feel nervous. It didn't make him feel any more relaxed knowing he seemed to be the only father there and the women were all staring at him.

He decided not to wear his usual disguise of a hoodie and sunglasses. He thought for sure that no one would recognize him at a woman's doctor's office. His mistake he realized. Most of the women there didn't have a clue who he was but it only took a couple of them to recognize him before they started gossiping and eyeing him. He slumped down in his chair and tried to hide his face but he could hear their whisperings. He heard his name mentioned several times. The ones that didn't know him started googling information on him and before he knew it they were all sitting together whispering, staring, and he saw an occasional finger pointed in his general direction. He was just glad none of the women approached him. Maybe they sensed how embarrassed and nervous he was.

He prayed no one would take any pictures of him and then display it all over social media. He knew he was an entertainer and he probably should expect this but he liked keeping his private life private. That was one of the reasons he did not have a Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram account. In the ring and during WWE obligations and appearances he was a wrestler and an entertainer, outside of the ring and he wanted to be left in peace. He didn't mind the occasional autograph, just situations that involved his personal life; he wanted kept out of social media.

At least he was excited about this doctor's visit. Visiting Claire and her family in their huge mansion on the other hand had not been a pleasant experience so far. He could tell that Claire's father didn't like him at all. Her mother was a sweet, charming woman that Claire had inherited her sweet nature from. Claire's mom was more accepting but he could see that she was unsure about him but she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The armed bodyguards were constantly watching his every move. He felt so uncomfortable coming out of the room he was given to even get bottled water so he stayed in his room the first night. He was not allowed to stay in Claire's room and her father had even posted guards in front of her door. When morning came and he tried to find the kitchen he got lost and roamed around the various floors. By the time he found it he was so mad that he had lost his appetite and then got lost trying to get back to his room. Coming from a poor background, he didn't understand the need for so much space for so few people. This was Claire's father and mother's house but Claire and the kids had rooms there as well for sleepovers, but it still made no sense because there was enough room there to house 3 families. It was just wasteful.

Claire did talk to the kids about Robert and his illness. She wanted to spare the children further pain and didn't go into great detail about how psychotic Robert had become. Just the basics that he was sick and he was getting help at a hospital and she didn't know when he was going to be able to come home.

She also talked to the kids about her and Jon and that they were in a relationship which confused the kids since she was married to their dad. Maddie had a better understanding on what Claire was trying to tell them. Maddie was not happy to hear about her and Jon. Claire explained to Maddie that she and her father had not really been together in a long time and that they both had been seeing other people. Claire knew that Robert was the first one to cheat on her but she reasoned it would hopefully be easier for the kids to think that they had mutually agreed to see other people and that they had been together because they didn't want to break up their family but they both had not been happy in a long time. But now with Robert sick, she was ready to move on. She knew that this all was going to be difficult to take in but she had no choice. Jon was going to be with her at times so the kids needed to know that they were seeing each other.

Robbie was thrilled to know he was going to be hanging out with Dean Ambrose more often, even though Robbie was worried about his dad. He didn't know when he would see him again and that made Robbie terribly sad. Baseball season started in a few months and he wanted to practice batting and catching with his dad. Dean could tell that Robbie was a sensitive boy with a big heart. He definitely took after his mother.

Maddie on the other hand threw the biggest temper tantrum. Jon had never heard anything like it in his life. Jon had stayed out of the room so Claire could talk privately with the kids. She was screaming for her daddy and then she started throwing things all around her room. She called Claire every horrible name in the book and blamed her for her father's mental sickness and why he was in the hospital. Finally, Maddie's grandfather had enough and went in there and threatened to beat her ass if she said one more bad thing about her mother again, which only egged her on even more. She said she hated Claire and she was not her mother anymore before running out of the room in tears. Claire herself was a crying mess by that time. She hadn't even had a chance to tell them about the baby but Claire reasoned it was better to wait and see if everything was okay with the pregnancy first before throwing that on the children as well.

Jon had wanted to comfort her but she ran from the room and went to her bedroom. He heard the door slam and he wasn't sure if he should follow or not but the body guards that went and stood by her door once she slammed the door shut gave him the hint that would not be a good idea. This wasn't what he had in mind when he agreed to come home with her. It wasn't that he couldn't share a room with her; it was that he felt like an unwanted guest. Claire was so caught up in her misery that she hadn't even noticed because she stayed in her room. This was the first morning in two days that Jon had actually spent any time with Claire.

He just hoped she will understand when he had to tell her he had to leave a day early due to work obligations. He got the call from HHH late last night that The Shield was last minute booked in a house show in Oklahoma City because one of the Wyatt's who were originally booked was sick. HHH promised the guys that they could have two days off following the show. Jon was fine about that since he would be able to go check on his Condo in Las Vegas. He hadn't been there in a month and he really needed to make sure everything was OK there.

Jon felt a great deal of relief when Claire returned and saw him turned slightly to the wall with his hand trying to cover his face. She looked over at the group of women staring at him and Claire frowned. I

"Who would have thought your huge fan base was made of a bunch of pregnant women."

"Funny Claire." But he was anything but in a joking mood.

"Sorry, I didn't know this would happen."

"It's not your fault. I guess if I was them I would be just as surprised to see me sitting her as well." Jon could swear he heard a few pictures being snapped and he closed his eyes to try and calm himself down. He hadn't had a chance to talk to his bosses about the situation, so he didn't need their relationship splashed all over facebook or Twitter. Claire herself was not happy about anyone taking their pictures. She didn't want to be involved in a scandal. They were both relieved when the nurse called for them to go to the back.

Thank you so much Joanie." Claire said.

"I saw those women staring and taking pictures and I knew I needed to get you to the back. That is the last thing you need to deal with after Robert's sickness and him resigning as senator. The doctor is not quite ready for you but I figured waiting in a room was preferable to out there." Joanie showed them to the room. She was looking at Jon curiously but she didn't ask what his relationship was to Claire and they didn't volunteer any information.

"Now just put one of those gowns on and Dr. Watson will be in here in a minute. I bumped you ahead of the line."

"Thanks again Joanie."

Jon waited outside the room while Claire dressed in the gown and then he went and sat down in the chair by the patient's bed that Claire was sitting on. He was really nervous because he didn't know what to expect. A nurse came in and drew some blood for lab work and then left again.

"So what is the doctor going to do?" He asked curiously.

"Well, he will look at my blood work, ask me questions and try and determine a due date. Just routine checkup."

"Oh Ok."

Doctor Watson came in and with good new that her labs were all normal He did a pap smear which Jon was more than happy to wait outside during the procedure. Asked some questions about how she was feeling and told them that everything looked good. Claire did notice that her morning sickness wasn't as bad as it was with Robbie and she hoped that was a good sign. Dr. Watson didn't see any reason why this pregnancy wouldn't turn out healthy so he scheduled her next visit in a month for an ultrasound. Claire couldn't wait she wanted to see the baby. Jon just hoped he could make it her next appointment so he could see the ultrasound also. He thought it would be cool to see the baby and maybe this would even seem more real then.

They left the doctor's office and decided to get lunch threw a drive thru. Jon was dreading having to tell her that he had to leave tonight but he knew he had to.

"I got a call from HHH. Last night. I am sorry but I have to leave tonight. The Shield has a match scheduled tomorrow night in Oklahoma City and I have to take the red eye out so I can get there in time to rest and do the show."

Claire was silent. He wondered if she had even heard him at all. A few more minutes passed before Claire spoke.

"Are you coming back?"

Jon ran his fingers through his hair. He didn't know how to respond. He knew he wasn't coming back right away because he had to go check in on his place in Las Vegas but after that he wasn't sure what he was going to do on during his next time off.

"Not back to your father's house anytime soon. I really don't feel comfortable there."

Claire nodded. She took a bite of her sandwich not sure how to respond. She couldn't help but wondering if he was trying to get away from her. She wondered if he was going to be one of those men that said they would call the next day and you never hear from them again.

"I am sorry that I have to leave so soon but I have to work. After the show, in the morning I am going to head up to my place in Las Vegas, why don't you come see me there? I will have 2 days off. I know it's not much but I would love to spend time with you, alone. No bodyguards though, they may give the old couple that live beside me a heart attack."

"So you have a place in Las Vegas? Why don't you sell it and move in with me?"

"I will think about it but I think we need to give the kids more time. At least right now they know we are dating, so let's give them time to adjust before I move in."

"Yeah, you're right. At this point I don't think Maddie is even going to come home with me. I may leave the kids with mom and dad while I clean out my house of their dads things. I plan on getting him a house nearby though for when he gets out and that way he has somewhere to go and he will still be close to the kids." Claire could see that Jon was not happy when she told him about Robert. "You know that I will have to be there to help him?"

"I know, I mean you are his wife." Jon mumbled.

"For now." Claire said taking Jon's large hand in her much smaller one. "But I love you." She kissed him on the lips softly. "Once I get my house in order then you can come visit me there instead at my dad's. I am sorry about the way my dad's been acting."

"I understand he is being protective. So are you going to come to Las Vegas to see me?"

"Yes! I want to spend more time with you so I will go. What time do you leave tonight?"

"I need to be at the airport at 10 pm, my flight leaves at 11pm."

"Why don't you just take daddy's jet?"

"No thank you! Besides I am use to airports, I rack up the frequent flyer miles."

They finished their meal and headed back to her dad's. Jon helped Claire in the house and then went to go pack. His flight was leaving in a few hours. He hated leaving Claire so soon but duty called.

I guess this is what is called a filler chapter. Reviews are helpful. Thank you!
