Previously on Pokémon Black and White, Ash and the others decided to do some training at a local dojo in Driftveil City. At the dojo, they worked under a Sensei known as Edward who happened to recognize Hilda's Patrat. After some training, Team Rocket had arrived and tried to steal everyone's Pokémon, but luckily for Ash, he had a Sandile that had evolved into a Krokorok, which had prevented any Pokémon from being stolen. Afterward, they left the dojo, and Nate had a conversation with Dawn, while Ash had a conversation with May. May came to a conclusion that she liked Ash. Who knows what could happen between Dawn and May, we'll just have to see, but at the same time we have a rematch with Clay coming soon.
The group exited the Pokémon Center and got ready to go back to the Driftveil Gym for Ash's rematch with Clay.
"I will not lose this time." claimed Ash.
"Pika!" agreed Pikachu.
"I'll be rooting for you." said Nate.
"So will I!" said May.
"Then what are we waiting for?" asked Ash "Let's go!"
The group walked inside the gym and sure enough, Clay was inside.
"I'm ready for a rematch!" requested Ash.
"I accept your challenge." accepted Clay.
"Same rules as last time?" asked Ash.
"Same rules as last time." Clay confirmed. "Come on out, Krokorok!"
Clay threw his Pokéball letting out Krokorok.
"Ash," said Tracey "If you're going to use your Krokorok, remember that his has been a Krokorok longer than yours."
"Oh, I'm not using Krokorok just yet." stated Ash.
"You're not?" Misty said surprised, but at the same time relieved.
"No," said Ash "I have a better idea, since Oshawott lost to Krokorok last time, I will use Tranquill."
Ash let Tranquill out of the Pokéball and the battle began.
"Tranquill, use growl!" commanded Ash.
The growl hit Krokorok causing it's attack power to be lowered.
"Now Tranquill, use Air Cutter!" commanded Ash.
"Krokorok, Dig!" commanded Clay.
Clay's Krokorok dug underground, so that it could dodge Ash's Tranquill's Air Cutter.
"Now come out and use bite!" commanded Clay.
Krokorok came out from underground and used bite on Tranquill. Tranquil fell to the ground afterward.
"Tranquill, get up and use Quick Attack!" commanded Ash.
Tranquill got up and used Quick Attack, but it didn't do very much damage to Krokorok.
"Krokorok, use Sandstorm!" commanded Clay.
Krokorok created a Sandstorm making it difficult for anyone to see.
"Tranquill use, Quick Attack again!" commanded Ash.
Tranquill was unable to hit Krokorok, because she was was blinded by the Sandstorm and the Sandstorm was also dealing some damage on her.
"Now Krokorok," commanded Clay "Finish Tranquill off with Crunch!"
Krokorok used Crunch on Tranquill defeating her. Soon after the Sandstorm disappeared.
"Tranquill is unable to battle," announced the judge "Krokorok is the winner!"
"You did well Tranquill." said Ash "You should rest."
Ash returned Tranquill to her Poké Ball and Clay did the same with Krokorok.
"Go Oshawott!" decided Ash.
"Go Palpitoad!" decided Clay.
Oshawott and Palpitoad were both let out of their Poké Balls.
"How do you feel about Ash's chances?" asked Dawn.
"He can do it." claimed Nate "He's the very best."
"If he loses this battle, it's an automatic loss for him." said Hilda "So he better win this one."
"Oshawott, use Razor Shell!" commanded Ash.
"Palpitoad, use Mud Shot!" commanded Clay.
Both attacks hit, but Oshawott's Razor Shell did more damage.
"Now Oshawott, use Water Pulse!" commanded Ash.
Ash's Oshawott used Water Pulse on Palpitoad defeating it.
"Palpitoad is unable to battle," announced the judge "Oshawott is the winner.
"Nice job Oshawott," said Ash "Return."
"Return Palpitoad." said Clay "Come on out Excadrill."
Clay let Excadrill out of the Poké Ball.
'Ash," said Brock "You really need to think about this one."
"Maybe Krokorok isn't the best option right now." said Misty.
"It hasn't been to long since it evolved." said Max.
"This is my only chance." said Ash "So this is what I'm going to do, come on out Krokorok!"
Ash let Krokorok out of the Poké Ball.
"I see that you also have a Krokorok." Clay noticed "Let's see how it does against my Excadrill."
Krokorok and Excadrill got into battle position and looked at each other.
"Round 3 begins now!" announced the judge.
"Krokorok, use dig!" commanded Ash.
"Excadrill, use dig!" Clay commanded at the same time as Ash.
Both Krokorok and Excadrill went underground. While underground, they both could be heard attacking each other, but neither trainer could tell what was going on.
"Excadrill, come out from under there and take Krokorok with you!" commanded Clay.
Excadrill grabbed hold of Krokrok and came out from underneath the ground. Back up on the ground, Excadrill slammed Krokork against the floor.
"Hang in there Krokorok!" shouted Ash "Use Mud Slap!"
Krokorok got free from Excadrill and used Mud Slap and it was Super Effective.
"Excadrill, use Metal Claw!" commanded Clay.
Excadrill used Metal Claw on Krokorok and it did about as much damage as Mud Slap did to Excadrill due to Excadrill having more battle experience. Krokorok and Excadrill, both of them in pain just stared at teach other, both were wanting to defeat the other.
"Excadrill, use Horn Drill!" commanded Clay.
"Krokorok, use Sand Tomb!" commanded Ash.
Krokorok and Excadrill both managed to use their attacks and they were both weakened even more. Both seemed unable to go on, but they were both wanting to continue at the same time.
"Earthquake!" Ash and Clay shouted at the same time.
Krokorok and Excadrill both used Earthquake at the same time and it seemed over for both of them.
"If this battle ends up as a draw, Ash doesn't get the badge." said Tracey.
"I don't think that will happen." said Nate "Ash is too good."
"You know he lost last time right?" said Misty.
"But he will win this time." said Nate.
Krokorok and Excadrill, both in a lot of pain were about to fall to the ground. Neither were able to take commands from their trainers anymore, but they both tried to stay standing. Both were about to fall over. Ash and his friends all made worried faces, for the exception of Nate who kept his confidence. Krokorok and Exadrill both started falling to the ground, but Excadrill fell to the ground first by a second.
"Since Excadrill fell first, this battle is a victory for Krokorok!" announced the judge "The victory goes to Ash Ketchum."
Ash and Clay returned Krokorok and Excadrill to their Poké Balls. Then Clay walked over to Ash with a badge.
"Congratulations." congratulated Clay "You have won the Quake Badge!"
"Alright!" shouted Ash holding up the badge "I won the Quake Badge!"
"Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu.
Ash and his friends headed over to the Pokémon Center so that Ash could get his Pokémon healed. While Ash's Pokémon were being healed. The group got together to discuss where they were going next. Brock pulled out his map.
"It looks like we'll be going to the Chargestone Cave next." explained Brock.
"Sounds exciting." said Nate "I've never gone through a cave before without my Dad. Thinking of that, I'm going to call him and tell him about it."
"Is that really the best thing to tell him?" asked Dawn "He almost didn't let you go with us."
"Actually, he should be cool with it." explained Nate "He's taken me through enough caves before, so he won't worry about me, besides, he never made a no cave policy."
"Good luck with that." said Dawn.
Nate went over to the phone to call his father. He dialed the number and his father appeared on the screen.
"How's it going son?" his father asked.
"It's going great." said Nate "My friend just won his fifth gym badge, and now we're getting ready to go through a cave."
"That's my boy!" his father said excitedly "Be sure to show them your cave experience."
"I'll do that." said Nate "And I'll call you at the next city."
"Alright then." said his father "I'll see you then. Good luck."
The call ended. Afterward, Nate went back over to the group.
"How did the call go?" asked Dawn.
"It went well." said Nate.
"Good to hear." said Dawn.
Later on, Ash's Pokémon had finished healing and the group left the Center.
"Hey guys," said Brock "How about we check out the Lighthouse before we leave."
"Not a bad idea." said Hilda.
The group headed over to the Lighthouse and checked it out.
"How about I make some food while we're over here." suggested Brock.
"Yes, I could use something to eat." said May.
Brock began cooking food as conversations began going on.
May walked over to Ash.
"Hey Ash." said May "What's up?"
"Not much," said Ash "Just admiring my fifth badge."
"I really like that about you." May flirted.
Dawn looked at May flirting with Ash from far away. She just sighed and looked away.
"Something wrong?" asked Hilda walking over to her.
"No, it's just.." Dawn said, but was interrupted by Hilda.
"You like Ash." stated Hilda.
"I think so." admitted Dawn.
"I wish I could help you with that, but I don't want to favor any of you three who want to be with him." said Hilda.
"I understand." said Dawn "And it's okay."
"Good." said Hilda "But I'll tell you this, if you like him so much, you need to tell him. I'm pretty sure Ash likes one of you three and I'm not going to ask him which one of you is the one."
"I know I should, but I feel so awkward about it." said Dawn.
"You can't just wait for him to ask you out." said Hilda "That's so lame."
"Then why don't you ask Tracey out?" asked Dawn.
"Because..." said Hilda, but was cut off.
"You are afraid he'll say no." said Dawn.
"I kind of do feel that way." said Hilda "Can I tell you something?"
"You can tell me anything." Dawn replied.
"I know that at first I seemed crazy about Tracey for no reason, and that was true." explained Hilda "I thought he was good looking, so I hit on him, but soon I thought he thought I was weird and that he hated me."
"Why would you think that?" asked Dawn.
"It's because that's how a lot of people view me." explained Hilda "But then that night, I left you guys, because I wanted to get away from your conversation, Tracey was the only person who came out to talk to me, and he started to comfort me, even when I started to cry. And now I really like him, because he seems to accept me."
"I'm sure he sees something in you." said Dawn hugging Hilda.
"Thank you Dawn." thanked Hilda "I'm going to see what I can do."
Hilda walked over to Tracey.
"Hey Tracey," said Hilda "Can I ask you something?"
"Yes," said Tracey "You can ask me anything."
Hilda was wanting to tell him how she was feeling, but before she could say anything, she started feeling pain in her stomach and ran away. Max went over to Tracey after seeing that.
"What did you say to her?" he asked.
"Nothing." said Tracey "She said she wanted to say something to me, but she ran away before saying anything."
"Just ask her out already!" said Max annoyed.
"I will do it at the next city." said Tracey "I promise."
"You better." said Max.
Misty noticed that Hlida walked over to her. Hilda was sitting down and had her hands on her stomach.
"Are you okay?" asked Misty.
"Yes, I'm fine." said Hilda "My stomach does this to me whenever I get nervous."
"Are you sure?" asked Misty.
"Yeah, I am." said Hilda "Don't tell anyone, I'll be fine in a minute. This happens all the time, it doesn't mean anything."
"Do you need help getting up though?" asked Misty.
"Yes." said Hilda.
Misty grabbed Hilda's hand and helped her up.
"Thanks Misty." said Hilda "Listen, I was talking to Dawn about this, and I need to tell this to you too. I know that you Dawn and May all like the same guy and I'm not helping any of you when him over, so please don't ask me about it, just tell him you like him before one of the others does."
"That seems fair enough." said Misty.
"Good," said Hilda "I need to say the same thing to May."
Hilda walked over to May
"May," said Hilda "I need to tell you something."
"What's that?" asked May.
"I know all three of you girls like Ash." said Hilda.
"That's why I'm going to ask him out soon." said May.
"So you don't want my advice." said Hilda.
"Nope." said May "I just need to tell him I like him."
"Good," said Hilda "Because I was going to tell you that I wasn't going to help you win him over."
"Trust me." said May "I don't need help."
The group got back together, ate their food and got ready to leave for Chargestone Cave.
And so, Ash now has five badges and now they are getting ready to go to Chargestone Cave. What will happen there? Which girl will ask Ash out first? And will Tracey and Hilda finally get together. For answers, you will just have to find out on more exciting episodes of Pokémon Black and White!
Notes: Sorry for the long wait, I had lots of writer's block, but now I feel like writing again. I wanted to make sure I got another chapter in before Pokémon Sun and Moon come out, so here it is right here. I hope you enjoyed it. Also for those who like Brock, I hope your excited, because this next chapter will have a lot of focus on him.
